It had definitely not taken long for Lucas to zone in on the one Mikaelson that he was in search for tonight, or at least one of two Mikaelson's considering Billie now carried the last name. There was no care in the world who got shoved to the side as he made his way towards him, signature shit eating grin on his lips as he practically jumps on the other's back, arm wrapping around his neck in a headlock. "Didn't think it'd take a masquerade ball to get us back together," Lucas joked, giving a light squeeze before releasing Briggs. "Not that I'm complaining. I love a good reason to dress to impress."

A smile crept across her features at the sight of Riley's friend, slowly making her way over and stopping beside him as if everything was completely normal, like she hadn't been dead for 2 years because of her own stupidity. "Tell me," the blonde mused. "Is it just me or is this whole curfew thing a total joke? Like us going home earlier than usual will actually make a difference."

All Tomorrows: A Billion Year Chronicle of the Myriad Species and Mixed Fortunes of Man (C. M. Kösemen) "The story begins in the near future, as burgeoning population pressures force humanity to terraform and colonize Mars. After a brief but violent civil war between the two planets, the genetically engineered survivors begin a new wave of colonization, spreading across the galaxy. Everything is looking up for the human race… until the colonies encounter the Qu, technologically advanced aliens on a religious mission to remake the universe. Although humans fight valiantly, the Qu easily overpowered humanity; as punishment, these aliens decide to genetically modify the survivors, turning most of them into mindless, animalistic creatures before departing. Evolution kicks in, with these terraformed post-humans continuing to breed and evolve, some regaining sapience in the process, some do not, and many others simply going extinct.
The book covers roughly a billion years of humanity's future descendants evolving into various new species and going through mass extinction after extinction, before finally revealing that the author is an alien paleontologist writing on humanity's fossil remains, with no idea what finally drove the clade to complete extinction."
When The Wind Blows (Raymond Briggs) "Utilizing a cartoonish design, this graphic novel follows a retired couple, Jim and Hilda Bloggs, and their journey through surviving a nuclear attack on Britain launched by the Soviet Union. Throughout the story, we see this innocent, cheerful pair of lovely grandparents very slowly die from radiation poisoning, all the while they keep waiting for help to arrive, help that we as the reader already know is not coming. The book was mentioned in UK parliamentary discussions, and used to support unilateral disarmament."

Artemis was sitting in one of the many rooms in the compound with a book in her hands. She was glad she was back in New Orleans. It had definitely been time to return to the family that she knew. She looked up when she heard someone walking towards her. (@ofmoonlitmagic )

Just posted the first chapter of my Silent Hill based on the first game in the series. It also contains ideas, places and characters from the Play Novel version and other games across the series.
It's all written, so I hope to post a chapter every day in this 25th anniversary year of the first game.

Every person was flawed. Jackie knew as much. But what happens when a person's flaws outweigh their redeeming qualities? What happens when said person doesn't know - no - doesn't want to change? -- Briggs could always see right through her. He could see through all the smiles and the front she put up for others, for herself. And while she loved him, she truly did, she also hated him for it. For the fact that he could see her. And it was his love for Billie, his unwavering loyalty, his hopefulness, his innate kindness -- that pushed him, trapped him even, into trying with Jack. At least that's what she thought, that's what she believed.
With Billie now gone, her only family gone, there was nothing left for Jackie in this fucked up town. There was no one left. Billie was the sun of her universe, a gravitational pull that kept all the planets, all the people around her in place, spinning and happy and content. Without her sun, she was flying through space - cold and directionless. And there was not a force, a single force strong enough to keep her here. To keep her in this dark pit to be reminded of all the times, and all the ways, she had failed her. Time and time again.
Briggs' voice snaps her out of thought, out of a wild spiral. And she turns to face him reluctantly. "Fuck off man." it's quiet, and she doesn't mean it. But pushing people away, that was much easier than asking them to stay, to forgive her, to help her. She's angry, and she's lashing and this is the ugly side, the real side she never wanted people to see. The side that burnt down bridges, that got violent and unfair. She hated it, she hated that she didn't get out in time.
"Don't fucking look at me!" she screams now, and a palm of her head is at her forehead as she tries to pull in a breath. "She's dead, Briggs, she's fucking dead!" tears of anger rush to the surface of her eyes and she'll struggle to stand in one place, leaning from one side to the other. "You can stop now -- all of this you can stop pretending you give a shit, alright? We're not friends..." the words stung, and they were't fact, just anxieties and fears all coming to the surface. "She's dead, and I am too..." she gets her bike up from the ground, her eyes finding his and the magnitude of grief she can almost touch with her bare hands just through a single glance -- it's crippling. "There's nothing left of me to stay." another step and she'll stop in her tracks. "I'm sorry." for whatever that was worth.

“You didn’t answer my question.” (for Nova)
3.14159265358979323
The numbers Nova was rehearsing to herself as she gave the explaination. The witch knew she couldn't react. If she reacted Briggs would take note.
"As I stated previously. I don't know why or how it happened. I didn't know she was someone you were fond of much less your wife. I did make an effort to apologize to her but there was-" Nova felt the mask heavy in her bag. She couldn't tell him that she was the one who saved Billie. For one Briggs would not believe her. For another, she felt the more he knew, the more he'd use against her. Was it sacrificing her friendship maybe. That was the right thing to do, in a war you can't have friends only allies. "-an interference."
Nova watched Briggs be silent gritting his jaw, she can feel the anger and confusion emitting at the same time. Like she was a threat. But she honestly didn't know anymore as she rehearsed the numbers in her head.
3.1415926535897932384626433832-
“You didn’t answer my question.”
Nova paused in her thoughts and took a strangled deep breath. She was going to react.
"Maybe I should have been more succint." Nova replied. "It seems from your point of view that I have this enboldened side of myself that wants to harm you or the people you love. You have a right to be concerned but I feel like you aren't listening to me." Nova paused.
"I felt guilty for harming you that day. You were one of my dearest friends. I should have been more honest with the situation with Taejin and I should have never attacked you. I am sorry for hurting you and I will keep my distance for now on."
"Billie-correct me if I'm wrong. Was unfortunately acaught in the crossfire. Emotions were high and she damned my grandmother-" Nova raised her hand. "You can swear back and forth that she didn't. That there's no way she didn't.But I asked for my grandmother to be spared and she wasn't. That's textbook damnation in Shinto beliefs. That's not up to you to intrepret based on your morality. My beliefs are my beliefs. " Nova sighed.
There was a silence. It felt weird being this assertive but the she didn't want to grovel anymore. She tried that with Billie and look where it got her.
"I do apologize for hurting her. And I had the full intention to apologize to her when I saw her again by the river but an interference-" Nova said. "In the form of the OEA came. She was saved by an individual with a fox mask as I was knocked unconsious." Nova felt her mask getting heavier. She wanted to explain everything but she can't.Why would she tell Briggs that she saved Billie? She knows Briggs wouldn't give a fuck.
"That's all I can tell you at this time.Everything else can't explain in a concrete statement." Nova said. "Can I go now?"

The approaching footsteps had been picked up on from nearly a mile away, the familiar heartbeat of his best friend one he'd never be able to mistake as his gaze remained ahead of him, never tearing away from the park pond as an arm remained stretched across the back of the bench where he sat. The week away with Jackie had helped some, mostly with quieting his mind and somebody to talk through everything and yet still it hadn't quite lessened the pain he was feeling, the reminder of how he had failed not only his mother but his girlfriend, his kid, Billie, Briggs, Riley, Gertie. Each one he had failed to protect and even now he carried the weight of the guilt, heavier now that Andreia was back. "You ain't here to give me shit for leaving without telling you and Billie are ya," Lucas questions solemnly. "Cause if you are I really just don't wanna hear it right now." Billie's already avoiding me."

Gia didn't trust men. Especially young, over-protective men with an unfortunate case of curse build-up. And while she was not the one to judge, or to even have an opinion on her daughters inner circle, she still found herself establishing those opinions, unprovoked. He was gonna hurt her someday - Billie. She knew that much. That's what young and stupid men did. But maybe that was a lesson the young banshee would have to learn on her own. Men cannot be trusted. No one can be trusted. --- Still, she's staring him up and down now, like a wolf would stare down a deer, and his words mean nothing as they roll off his lips. "No." there's a smile, oh she would definitely be keeping an eye out on this one. "Not a thing."

artemis took a deep breath and knocked on briggs's door. she knew that the full moon was coming up and she wanted to make sure her cousin was okay. after making up with him and confirming that both of their fears of hate from the other were non existent, she wanted to check on him. "briggs?" she asked softly through the door. ( @ofmoonlitmagic )
