awh thank you!! I feel so honored to be able to put that into the right words!! I've always had an obession with them since I was little, and I remember staring at the backgrounds for hours looking at all the small details and subtle story telling within the image!

while games today can still do some pretty good enviromental story telling, nothing will compare to backgrounds such as these below, which just show a more lived in and atmospheric enviroments!

when games were becoming more advanced I always hoped of the day we could explore these well detailed backgrounds in 3D, but sadly not many games have tried to do that. (though some game titles have come close to replicating that feeling of prerendered backgrunds except in 3D!)

I just finished watching a silent playthrough of Drakengard 1 on PS2. I feel like this game deserves a remake like how Silent Hill 2 got a remake.

While SH2 is and was obviously a hit both back when it came out on the ps2 and when it was remade on ps5, I feel that it's a given that it was going to succeed. Because it's popular. But I wanna start seeing remakes for games that had huge potential back, but flew underneath many people's radar due to it underperforming or what have you. And Drakengard 1 would be perfect for this.

Keep in mind, I don't really know the history behind Drakengard 1 super in depth. But my understanding is that Drakengard 1 wasn't universally praised and wasn't really played by a whole lot of people. It's still funny to me how many people love the NieR franchise and have no idea that NieR is a spin-off series coming from a joke ending in Drakengard 1.

Side tangent, earlier today I was looking through some youtube shorts and saw a clip from one dude's livestream watching someone's video about NieR (because he was trying to see if he would like it, i think) and saw a clip from Drakengard 1 and he immediately recognized the clip to be from Drakengard 1. He was gushing with nostalgia about playing the game when he was younger and was super pleased to find out that Drakengard and NieR are connected. And I thought that was super interesting that he had played Drakengard 1 but wasn't aware of the connection it had with NieR. Just not something you really see in the fandom I suppose.

Anyways, I would absolutely LOVE to see a modern remake of Drakengard 1. Its art style halfway through the game is so good and I believe would translate well with the NieR style that's been used in Automata and Replicant 1.22. ESPECIALLY all the weird as fuck set pieces at the end of the game. A modern remake would also bode well with the gameplay and story. When watching the game, it looks as though the dragon flying combat is kinda fun, but the Caim gameplay could reeeeally benefit from some modifications to make it more fun to play. And while story is interesting, the way the story is told is a bit disjointed and doesn't really flow well. And this might just be me being spoiled with really good storytelling and voice acting and cutscene animations in modern RPGs, but man it hasn't aged all that well.

I'm rambling on and I'm tired so

TLDR: Drakengard 1 deserves a Modern Remake cause it has the potential to be utterly fan-fucking-tastic.

There’s something intriguing lore wise about the arcanists from etrian odyssey.

It’s interesting how they’re described as casters from an unnamed land. In a game that’s all about exploring forests to eldritch horrors it leaves a lot of wiggle room to imagine their background. For me I pictured the arcanist in my party being new to the city. Wise within his practice of magic but naive towards the new setting. Thus making the guild his first and soon to be familiar faces associated with the city. A found family to tell his own back at home via letters. (Ik they debuted in 4 but I played them for the first time in nexus)

She grips her knee of her pants tightly, narrowing her eyes and scrunching her brows, recalling the memories. "My life... is unbearable. I was fed, have a roof over my head, and have parents. But they expect more of me at a young age. Being better than them. I have to do this. Do that. Never had time for myself. And when I do have time for myself just to rest and relax, I am called lazy and ungrateful. I tried my best to meet the expectations, but never got any praise...I just need to do better next time. Nothing else."

"So, to answer your question, I was never happy in the first place even if it was stable footing. In Hell we are simply labeled as demons. And that is because I am Hellborn. I am not a sinner. I was born in Hell, so that doesn't mean I have committed sins such as murder like sinners have," Stolas told the woman as he circled her.

"You say you knew what you signed up for-- yet you were desperate to escape. Would you have accepted it if you were happy and on stable footing?" the prince asked the girl.

Stolas clasped his hands together, "I can have a word with him. At least stop you from becoming his pet or anything. But if you're not a good person, then you will likely come to Hell when you pass away."

Yeah if you can manage to enable Sabrina she's really good. Could've run Lamretta with her for the 3/4 sub all (dodge all ensures she's fine during Lamretta's off time) but I wanted a speedier clear with more skill damage so I finally used Cavalier. Wasn't bad. I'll work on using Sabrina more later.
