The impact of Jackie Taylor's absence on Callie's life.

Callie's life has always been shaped by lies. The lie of love in her mother’s eyes, the lie of her parents' marriage, the lie she told herself as she watched her mother talking to herself her entire life. But there was always one name she knew brought the truth: Jackie Taylor.

She spent her whole life dealing with Jackie’s absence, fighting to be 1% of what had once been her mother’s true love. She heard the woman’s name whispered in nightmares, was forced to live with Jackie’s parents, and had to smile at all the rabbit figurines her mother wouldn’t let her touch. She felt connected to the woman, like a perfect mirror image, and that only pushed her mother further away. She always saw Shauna’s disdain, the sideways glances, and sometimes, the gentle touch on her face as she pretended to sleep.

"It’s so unfair to be just like her. Sometimes I feel like you’re a hallucination, just like she was."

Jackie was the father (or mother) she had always dreamed of having.And she knew she was just as fucked up as her mother, after all, you can't inherit everything from who your mother insists you look like.

Bear with me here. I have a theory and it has Yellowjackets Season Two finale spoilers in it, so don’t read it if you haven’t seen it, but:

All the parallels between Jackie and Callie. How she’s the child Jeff and Shauna were supposed to have. How we’ve seen how much emphasis is placed on Jackie’s clothes (Shauna wearing the butterfly shirt, saving Jackie’s sundress from the fire, her necklace being a ritual symbol, the severity of the betrayal of Callie wearing the uniform being compared to the betrayal of Callie catching her mom cheating).

Callie asking Jeff if she’s like Shauna. Connecting with her mom for the first time for real, because of the murder. The two of them starting to like each other and not just love each other out of obligation because they’re mother and daughter. Shauna having a close bond with another woman that can is precious to her.

Hi!! hello yellowjackets fandom I have a question about the Callie being the new antler queen theory. Before, when the cards were drawn and Nat got chosen, the wilderness actually chose her as a queen and not the one they'd kill, someone else was the offering. Wouldn't that make Shauna the new Antler Queen? And wouldn't that make more sense since it parallels with her and her journal when she wrote she wanted it to be her instead of Nat? And now it is her instead of Nat, not just the new queen but also Nat died and not her. The wilderness chose again. //Gen my autistic ass does not understand why it would be Callie
