Title: Finding Inner Peace Amidst the Turmoil: Coping with the Horrible Feelings and the Threat of War
Introduction
In times of turmoil and the looming threat of war, it is natural for individuals to experience a myriad of emotions ranging from fear and anxiety to sadness and anger. These feelings can be overwhelming, making it crucial to find ways to cope and cultivate inner peace. This article explores spiritual practices and perspectives that can help individuals navigate these challenging times, allowing them to find solace and strength within themselves.
Tumblr media
I. Acknowledging and Embracing Emotions
It is important to acknowledge and validate the range of emotions that arise in times of uncertainty. Suppressing or denying these feelings can lead to increased distress. Instead, embrace them with compassion and understand that they are a natural response to a difficult situation.
II. Grounding Techniques
Breathing Exercises: Engage in mindful breathing techniques to anchor yourself in the present moment. Inhale deeply, hold for a few seconds, and exhale slowly. This simple practice can help calm the nervous system.
Rooting Visualization: Imagine yourself as a sturdy tree with roots extending deep into the earth. Visualize these roots grounding you, providing stability and strength.
III. Practicing Mindfulness and Presence
Meditation: Dedicate time each day to meditation. Focus on your breath, allowing your mind to quieten. This practice fosters a sense of inner peace and clarity.
Mindful Activities: Engage in activities with full presence. Whether it's walking, eating, or even washing dishes, do so with complete awareness of the sensations and movements involved.
IV. Finding Comfort in Spirituality
Prayer and Affirmations: Engage in prayers or affirmations that resonate with you. Seek comfort in the belief that there is a higher power that provides strength and guidance.
Connecting with a Higher Purpose: Reflect on your life's purpose and how you can contribute positively to the world, even in the midst of uncertainty.
V. Cultivating Compassion and Empathy
Acts of Kindness: Perform small acts of kindness for others. It could be as simple as a kind word, a smile, or offering assistance. These gestures create a ripple effect of positivity.
Loving-Kindness Meditation: Practice sending love and well-wishes to yourself, loved ones, and even those you perceive as adversaries. This practice fosters compassion and understanding.
VI. Seeking Support and Community
Connect with Like-minded Individuals: Join or seek out communities that share your spiritual values. Engaging with others who understand and support you can be immensely comforting.
Professional Guidance: Consider seeking support from spiritual leaders, therapists, or counselors who can provide guidance tailored to your spiritual beliefs.
Conclusion
In times of uncertainty and the threat of war, finding inner peace is not only a solace but a necessity. By acknowledging and embracing our emotions, grounding ourselves, practicing mindfulness, and nurturing our spiritual connection, we can navigate these challenging times with strength and grace. Remember, within each of us lies a wellspring of resilience and peace that can carry us through even the darkest of days. Together, we can emerge from this stronger, more compassionate, and spiritually enriched.

We don’t know what lies on the other side of this world and this life. We won’t know that until the inevitable happens to each of us and I’m just that, it’s a gift. I don’t want to know the date that I’m going to leave this world and pass on to wherever it is that we go. All I know for sure is that I truly try to embrace each and every moment with others that I can now because nobody knows when that final day is going to come. That should be a motivator for all of us to do good, be available for those the we care about and cherish every moment. I’ve heard of people who never get excited about things because if they do and it doesn’t happen, they really don’t lose anything. If something does happen, they take it as a pleasant surprise.
What a terrible way to live life! A friend of mine told me today after chatting for a few minutes that I have one of the most gratifying jobs in the world because I help people who’ve need direction and who for a lot of reasons, have lost hope. What makes life worth living each day for me is to help restore some of that hope back inside of those people I work with. Being able to reach so many lives with the gifts I’ve been given is a testament to the trauma I’ve been through and the richness I’ve found in everyday life and I wish that for all of you as well. Make the most of the time you’ve been given.

We got a lot of work done today. Teaching, painting, building, drawing, some of the way was really tough to slog through, but Molly is a devoted companion who believes in me even when I’m too exhausted to think. I mean seriously look at this face, she’s saying right now, “you got this, go get it!” #nancyrodrigoart #nancyrodrigostudio #drawing #artistsoninstagram #latinxartist #traditionalart #teachingartist #artteachersofinstagram #catsofinstagram #studiocats #greytabby #yougotthis #calminthestorm (at South Slope, Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CE0VZ0pl51i/?igshid=qnfxqu4tztkm

Our world is painstakingly free. As we gain more freedom, we also gain more that is out of our control and, correspondingly, the feeling that we need to control more things. Depression, anxiety, eating disorders, divorces are consistently each exchanging turns on the roller coaster of an “all time high.”
How does a world that declares life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness turn towards running from fear? “We turn our face towards running from...” That’s illogical, yet we remain consistent.
We are manipulated to be happy rather than receive the gift of joy and sorrow of life as it actually is.
Every time I hear the same historical lesson and learn something new, I see a greater amount of intention and feel in awe at the quality. Jesus is such a good teacher. There are two accounts in the Gospel where the disciples of Jesus were caught in a storm on the Sea of Galilee, which is a actually a freshwater lake in Israel whose location makes it subject to sudden and violent storms as the wind comes over the eastern mountains and suddenly drops into the sea. In the first story, a squall furiously breaks over the boat of the disciples while Jesus is sleeping. The disciples woke him and said “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and the storm calmed. He said to his disciples, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” The disciples were terrified and asked, “Who is this, that even the wind and seas obey him?”
The second account says that Jesus MADE (aka forced aka no freedom of choice) the disciples get away from a crowd after a long day and into the boat to start for the other side. After they left, Jesus went to the mountainside to pray. This could have been a couple hour, smooth boat ride, but the disciples were riding through the night because the waves were against them. Shortly after dawn, Jesus walked out to them on the lake and the disciples were terrified, thinking they were seeing the likes of Legion in the distance. They cried out in fear. Jesus met them in the storm and exclaimed, “take courage! I am. Do not be afraid.” Now Peter didn’t reply to him “Lord calm the storm!,” nor “Lord, let me come to you and promise me that I will be safe!” No, he said, “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.” The demons and the devil up to this point in time have already acknowledged that Jesus is Lord, but this is the first time any of the disciples acknowledged Jesus as Lord. After the first account, they knew Jesus could calm the wind; he could calm the cause of the storm. Now, was Peter thinking, “what can Jesus do for me?” “Come,” Jesus replied.
People who have heard this story before find Peter foolish because he chose to walk to the Lord on the water in a storm. He stepped out of the boat and went toward Jesus. Then as soon as Peter noticed the wind around him, he became fearful and began to sink.
“Lord, save me!” Peter cried out. Jesus reached out his hand and said, “You of little faith. Why do you doubt?” Then when they climbed in the boat, the wind died down. The disciples finally acknowledged, “Truly, you are the Son of God.”
These details are fascinating! The disciples saw the miracles of God through Jesus, but it wasn’t until they saw Him do a miracle in one of them that they acknowledged and worshipped Jesus as the Son of God. I think it’s intentional, too, that Jesus was in the boat with them the first time and wasn’t in there the second time. Was Jesus preparing them for a time when He wouldn’t have a physical body anymore? What’s truly magnificent is the progression of Jesus’ miracles. This story would be different if Jesus did a miracle for Peter first, then calmed the wind second. I think He saw importance in being a teacher first, then Lord. He taught us that he is capable of calming the wind and sea, but the wind is still gonna blow and it’s going to, even thousands of years later, drop over the mountain into the sea.
I pray we feel less of a need for control and find the freedom to keep our eyes on God.
Life never was about control; we just made it that way. The Word doesn’t say Jesus controlled the wind; it says the wind obeyed Him. The initial cause of the storm obeyed the Lord of our sea. If that doesn’t give you life, liberty, and the need to worship Him, I pray you find a way to just stop running from fear and start running toward something as good as Jesus.

Jesus our comfort and peace
Jesus our comfort and peace
Bible Verse : Mark 4:38
And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
Devotional Thought : One may look around at his circumstances and become convinced that there is no hope. The storms may beat, the winds may roll, and the boat may be almost full. While it may appear to be sinking, these are…

Focus on What You Can Control | Stoic Principle
Tumblr media
Concentrate your efforts on things you can change, like your thoughts and actions, and let go of what you can't control, like other people's opinions or external events. A sturdy tree  standing tall amidst a windy storm. The branches sway with the wind, but the tree remains steadfast. Surrounding the tree, show scattered leaves being blown away by the wind. This symbolizes focusing on staying grounded (what you can control) while accepting that the wind and the leaves (what you can't control) will do what they will."

The calm in the storm.
I’ve gotten really good at being the calm in the middle of the storm. This has been one of the worst months I’ve had in a long time, and no I’m not okay. But I do know everything will eventually be okay.
So, I will remain calm. And wait for the storm to pass.

Fierce serenity. Its a quality that's embodied by the peaceful warrior, and by the majestic beauty of a resting lion. It's a feeling of power, and one of the flexible calmness in the centre of a raging storm. Regardless of any fear or vulnerability that you are feeling right now, remind yourself that you are strong enough to handle this situation.
