When I hear “13,” the association that comes first to mind is Thirteen Moons on Turtle’s Back, a children’s book by Joseph Bruchac and Jonathan London. I don’t remember when my family bought it, only that it was on my bookshelf for as long as I can remember, except when my mom would loan it to a teacher at the elementary school.

In Thirteen Moons, a father teaches his son that there are thirteen scales on turtles’ backs just as there are thirteen moons in a year, and each moon has a story. The thirteen stories that follow were each from a different Native American tribe. My favorite was the maple moon. I didn’t live near maple trees, so the notion that the syrup I dipped my French toast sticks in came from the inside of trees seemed almost as magical as the river of chocolate in Willie Wonka’s factory.

4. I read mostly in the sci-fi and fantasy genres, and historical fiction, though I tend to stick with specific time periods there. I'm currently rereading Anne of Green Gables for like the millionth time

11. overall, just nix (I gave it to myself when I picked my name :) i also forgot that it was a nickname for a solid minute bc i use it more than the longname)

i thought about this for so long and couldn’t think of a single genre that i don’t like at least one song or artist in ? this was so hard so tbh none of them i really love all sorts of music!
