For the first time in a long time im becoming really happy with my body again
Its been a weird and rough road of physical and emotional changes since I stopped pole dancing competitively and then completely over the past 5 years.
Its been 5 years of figuring out my relationship with exercise as stress relief and changes in my body since few exercises are as physically demanding of both strength and cardio and its been generally rough.
Even when I did my half marathon this past year, I felt good about myself and accomplished but I didn’t really feel strong. And mostly thats what I missed, feeling strong and capable.
I’m now 3 months into my new workout regimen of 5 days a week mix of running, peloton, barre and yoga and I am feeling at home in my body for the first time in FOREVER. My arms feel strong and toned, my ab lines are coming back a little, my legs feel firm and toned and I feel appropriately sore very day.
I just haven’t felt this way in a while, and the physical changes and feeling like I look good are nice, but most importantly I feel STRONG again. I missed being strong. I didn’t realize how important that was to my identity until it slipped away. But now its back :)

Home Workouts & Fitness Apps are Relevant Post-Pandemic?
The COVID-19 pandemic changed the fitness app development industry overnight, forcing gyms to shut down and leaving people searching for ways to exercise outside crowded indoor spaces. This led to an explosion in home workout apps and digital fitness services. As pandemic restrictions eventually ease, some may wonder whether these home fitness trends will fade. The data shows that home workouts and fitness trainer apps are not just pandemic fads but are here to stay in the post-pandemic world.
When the pandemic hit, the at-home fitness app industry went into overdrive trying to meet surging demand. Top apps like Peloton, Nike Training Club, and Fitbit saw exponential user increases. Revenue growth for home workout equipment and digital fitness app services skyrocketed as well. People became accustomed to having on-demand, varied workouts available 24/7 without leaving home.
Pre-Pandemic Fitness Trends
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, gyms and boutique fitness studios dominated the fitness industry. Boutique studios like Barry's Bootcamp, Pure Barre, and SoulCycle took off, providing specialized group fitness classes in HIIT, yoga, Pilates, and more. These gyms and studios promoted community and expert instruction you couldn't get working out at home.
Pre-pandemic, group fitness classes at gyms and studios were a rapidly growing trend. Data showed over 18% of members attended in-person classes. Many boutique studios were built entirely around group classes led by charismatic instructors. Class varieties catering to different interests were expanding.
However, fully digital at-home fitness options were still emerging and limited pre-pandemic. Some apps provided class content and workout programs, but few had interactive live classes or immersive experiences. The technology was not yet advanced enough to rival the in-person gym. For most mainstream consumers, attending a physical fitness facility was the default for serious exercise.
II. Fitness Trends During the Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic completely upended the fitness app development industry overnight as gyms and studios were forced to close to contain the virus. Almost immediately, there was an explosion in-home workouts and online fitness classes.
Explosion of Home Workouts and Online Classes.
The pandemic led to a surge in home workouts and online classes as gyms closed. Major platforms live-streamed workouts, while fitness trainer apps rushed to expand video libraries across workout types. Both recorded and live virtual group classes were offered, often using just body weight or household items in place of equipment. Almost overnight, interactive home workout offerings went from niche to mainstream.
Increased Sales of Home Workout Equipment and Wearables
Sales of home gym equipment like weights, kettlebells, and bikes spiked up to 600% during pandemic lockdowns. This allowed the recreation of strength and cardio regimens at home. Wearables like Fitbits also became bestsellers, enabling users to monitor fitness metrics and connect to workout fitness trainer apps.
Virtual Personal Training Sessions Gain Popularity
Top trainers leveraged digital platforms for remote personal training, providing customized guidance and accountability. The convenience attracted many new clients. Virtual training expanded access, allowing cross-country and international client bases.
Accelerates Digital Fitness Innovation
The pandemic forced major investments in digital fitness app development technology and content. This spurred innovations in live streaming, wearables integration, AR/VR classes, and more. It changed consumer expectations and attracted big investor dollars, poised to impact the industry long-term.
III. Post-Pandemic Fitness Trends
Gyms Reopen but Struggle to Regain Members
As pandemic restrictions eased, gyms were allowed to reopen globally. However, many struggled to regain their pre-pandemic membership levels and revenue. Surveys found most former gym-goers now preferred to exercise at home frequently. Precautions like capacity limits also made business challenging. While the most dedicated gym rats returned, more casual users did not.
Continued Popularity of Home Workouts and Fitness Apps
Even as gyms reopened, home workouts remained extremely popular with consumers. The top fitness apps maintained the massive member bases they'd gained during lockdowns. Features like live and on-demand classes, social groups, and tracking kept users engaged remotely.
Hybrid Model - Mix of Home, Gym, and Digital
Most fitness enthusiasts developed a hybrid routine post-pandemic, blending gym sessions with at-home and digital workouts. Fitness apps enabled easy self-monitoring between varied sessions. Gyms began offering hybrid memberships allowing both physical and digital access. This flexibility gave consumers the ideal balance at the best value.
Innovations in Digital Experience - AR, VR, Wearables
Immersive reality via AR/VR headsets provides interactive digital workouts that feel like an in-person class. Wearables gather biometric data to optimize and personalize sessions. Gamification elements boost motivation. Post-pandemic fitness trainer apps incorporate these innovations to provide experiences impossible at a normal gym.
Conclusion
The COVID-19 pandemic profoundly disrupted the fitness app development industry and accelerated the rise of digital home workouts. While gyms have reopened post-lockdowns, all signs point to home fitness options and apps maintaining newly mainstream popularity. The convenience, variety, and low cost make them an essential part of many exercise routines rather than just a temporary fix. Fitness apps and platforms will continue innovating to enhance the user experience through immersive reality, artificial intelligence, social features, and more. Of course, traditional gyms still serve an important purpose for many.
As the dust settles, the ideal emerging scenario is a blended model incorporating the best of in-person and virtual fitness. But there is no doubt that interactive home workouts are here to stay in the post-pandemic fitness app landscape. After being thrust into the spotlight, they have proven their ongoing relevance.

Cardio barre
Cardio before or after barre; Visit any barre studio’s site and you’ll discover a lot of engaging guarantees: “Grow long, fit muscles without mass.” “Shape a ballet performer’s body.” “Upgrade adaptability and improve balance.” Many say that after just five classes, you’ll see changes in your body, acquire strength, and tone those difficult to-target muscles in your center, arms, and legs. What’s more, the most awesome aspect: Anyone—regardless of their age, weight, or wellness level—can hit the bar and get results. With claims like these, who wouldn’t have any desire to plié their way to a more grounded body? Similarly as with anything that sounds unrealistic, we needed to research. Here, we delve into the science behind the expressive dance propelled exercise to discover precisely how (and in the event that) it can really change your constitution.
Cardio barre 1
The History
Taking into account that the essential hardware (ahem, an expressive dance barre) and a large number of the moves depend on exemplary artful dance positions, it’s nothing unexpected barre was created by a ballet dancer. In the wake of harming her back, Lotte Berk, a German artist living in London, concocted the plan to consolidate her dance molding routine with her rehabilitative treatment. She opened her first studio in 1959 in her London cellar, where popular faces, for example, Joan Collins and Barbara Streisand routinely came to lift, fold, and twist. Cardio before or after barre.
Cardio barre 2
Lydia Bach, an American understudy of Berk’s, took the exercise back to the states in 1971, when she opened the primary Lotte Berk Method studio in New York City. After some time teachers started diverging to make their own varieties of the exercise, for example, Physique 57, The Bar Method, and Core Fusion, among others. Indeed, such countless instructors in the end left the first Lotte Berk Method studio that it wound up shutting its entryways in 2005.
Cardio barre 3
To say the barre pattern has warmed up over the most recent 10 years is putting it mildly. Barre has transformed from a class for agile artist types to turn into the exercise of decision for wellness devils all over the place—and studios are jumping up by the thousand across the U.S. (also, globally). Truth be told, Pure Barre has right around 300 areas, while The Bar Method just opened its 82nd studio. A few brands, including Barre3, Beyond Barre, and Physique 57 additionally offer internet web based and on-request recordings. Essentially if your area doesn’t have a barre studio, it’s protected to accept it will soon.

Voici l’histoire:

I’m hella behind on prompts, so it’s time to catch up!
10/18- If you had to offer one tip about success, what would it be? Prepare. Life goes so much smoother when you plan ahead. I mean this more than just meal prepping- lay your clothes out. Pack your bags. It can be something as small as making a grocery list to ensure you’re only buying what you need, to making a detailed plan on when to do laundry so you only need one pair of scrubs for your per diem!
10/19- What is one small step you can take in the next 24 hours to make 2020 better? I deep-cleaned my bedroom and have set up a new system of clothing preparations; I hung a command hook on the back of my closet so that at night, I can hang whatever clothes I’m wearing the next day and don’t have to even open my closet! This will save some time in the mornings and allow me either more time to do AM workouts... or sleep in a little hehe.
10/20- That goal you mentioned on 10/15; have you taken action on it? My goal was running more. I’ve taken minimal action on it, but I am hoping to get back on track and kick it into high gear!
10/21- Tell us about your exercise history; do you currently participate in any kind of formal exercise program / actively use a gym membership? My exercise history consists of a wide variety of over-exercising to months on end of not exercising. In middle school I played soccer and would do body-weight stuff at home. In high school I intermittently played soccer and was injured, so ti went either way. At one point my best friend and I would run together in the park and would typically do 5 miles in an hour or so. In college I was an athlete, then for years after college I didn’t work out. I started going to my currently gym (a specialty gym) in 2016 and have been mostly consistent (except the last few weeks due to traveling for work and sickness). I have a regular gym routine that consists of Sunday-Friday workouts of cycle, kickboxing, weight lifting, and barre.
10/22- What are some exercises you want to try “some day”? Honestly, I want to get better at lifting. The gym I go to is a specialty gym so there aren’t any lifting machines, and the free weights are extremely limited. Everything is class-style as well. My plan is to continue to at my current gym and routine until the new year, and then add in a membership to the Big Sky gym near me. I want to get over the holiday slump... and take advantage of the new year deals.
10/23-Do you balance your exercises across the different disciplines (strength, cardio, flexibility?) Sure do! I lift weights, do barre, kickboxing, cycle, and am trying to do more running.
10/24- How do you balance exercise with all the other demands on your time? I made it a priority! It helps that most of the classes are in the AM before work, but not always! I deliberately will stay up an extra 30 minutes or get up 15 minutes early if I am behind on something such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc to ensure that I have time to workout. I also built it into my schedule, IE I never schedule things on Monday nights unless I absolutely have to because I go to spin. It helps that I am a super morning person so most of my weekend plans happen after the classes, but I also work exercise into specialty activities if they happen to take over my gym time. If I know I am missing Sunday kickboxing class for something else, I try to do a lot of laundry Saturday to get a bunch of stairs in.
10/25- What is one exercise tip you would offer to the community? Find something you like! I’ve tried yoga a bunch of times because everyone always seems obsessed... I hate it! I’ve never been a huge fan of running but I found a great playlist/channel on Spotify that helps me get into it.
10/26- How are motivation and exercise tied together for you? If I’m not motivated, it’s usually not a great workout. However, you can’t always be motivated 24/7 and sometimes a bad workout, as long as it is safe, is better than no workout. If I’m feeling unmotivated I just try to do the best I can and say tomorrow I will double the effort!

𝐵𝒶𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓇𝒾𝓃𝑜 𝑅𝒾𝒸𝓀
My very first fic of my OC. I won’t lie, I’m a little nervous cause this has been in my drafts since February. This fic is basically a day in the life of him. I hope you like it! ❤
Without further ado, Introducing.....Ballerino Rick!
           ☆☆.。.:*・゚*:.。.☆☆.。.:*・゚*:.。.☆☆.。.:*・゚*:.。.☆☆.。.:*・゚*:.。.☆☆
At the crack of dawn in the Citadel, the silence of a quaint apartment is broken with the buzz of an alarm clock. A groan emerges from a lone Rick in his bed as he is looks over at the time. 5:00 am. With a few seconds to compose himself, he gives in to its demands and reaches out to turn it off. It was time to get up and moving. Pulling the sheets off of himself, he leapt out of bed and reached his arms towards the ceiling in a light stretch to warm up his body before his early shower. Satisfied for now, he went in to his bathroom to strip off his pajamas, stepped in the bathtub and twisted the faucet. Warm water sprinkled down his face as he started to wash his whole body to prepare for the day.
Ricks were not typically morning people. Hell, they weren’t technically ones to sleep at all during the night. Depending on which Rick you would talk to, some would be nocturnal and sleep during the day, others would pass out whenever time of day they had a little too much to drink. This Rick was not like others. He wasn’t even one for drinking much. A glass of wine on a special occasion, sure. But he was always one to take care of his aging body. While he was no longer a spring chicken, his mind was still very young and will was strong as ever. It was absolutely necessary for him to have this early morning routine.
Now clean, Rick got dressed in a simple v-neck tee and black leggings today; casual and comfy. He then walked into his kitchen. He set water in his tea kettle, placing it on the burner. While he was waiting for it to heat up, he proceeded to stretch as much as he could. Stretching was as important to Rick as eating and breathing. It was a must for his routine, always being determined to give his best performance whether it be on a stage or just during a dance class.
Dancing was his ultimate passion. While he also had an interest in science like any other Rick, dance was with him as a young child. Since he was five years old, he had been training in ballet in his hometown. His mother was the one to sign him up, while his father disapproved, telling him that ballet was for “sissies.” Even now, a Rick will yell out “twinkle toes” when he was seen walking in his leotard. He couldn’t care less though. After all, what kind of a Rick would he be if he gave a shit what people thought?
With the whistle of the kettle, Rick had poured the now hot water in to his mug to make green tea. After blowing cool air into it, he pressed the cup to his lips to have his first sip of tea in the morning to wake him up. Sighing at the refreshing taste, he had to do one more thing before he could get ready to go out. Breakfast. Food was fuel. It was absolutely important that every dancer gets proper nutrition. Today, he went for something simple. He scrambled some eggs and put some bread in his toaster. Quick and easy. He took his time to enjoy his first meal of the day and finished the rest of his tea.
Finally, he went to his living room to complete his time for stretching. An hour was the minimum he needed to get himself going. Legs out in a split, he reached an arm to one side for thirty seconds and repeated the action on the other. Rick took deep breaths as he stretched accordingly. Downward dog, butterfly pose, low lunge, he did every move imaginable to make sure he was completely stretched out. To be extra safe, he would take out his trusty foam roller, to really work in any sore muscles. He even stretched his calloused toes for his feet needed the most attention after being on them all day long. Soon, he would have to leave for his 8 am ballet class. He was still a bit tired, but confident that he was ready for the day. He grabbed his bag with his dance shoes and a bottle of water, went down the stairs of his apartment building and out into the streets.
In the hustle and bustle of the Citadel, Rick had walked en route to the dance studio. It was about 15 minutes away by foot, but he didn’t mind. He preferred to walk as opposed to taking a taxi anyway, felt it gave him the extra cardio he needed for his more intense dancing. In ballet, you always had to prepare for any type of moves you would be performing. He was good at making sure his body was in top shape. It was his instrument after all.
“And one! And two! And three! And four!”
The cheery sound of a piano, all the dancers in the room had one hand to the barre with the other out to their side in second position. Ricks and Mortys alike, they were performing the movements the instructor Rick had demanded of them in unison. One foot sliding across the floor, performing their tendus. The piano sped up as did their feet. Each dancers posture was fantastic and their face did not falter when the movements became more challenging.
“AND plie.” said the instructor
Bending their legs in graceful plies, that warm-up exercise was complete.
“Alright. Now let’s work on grand ballements shall we?.”
At the return of the upbeat music, each dancer had begun to lift one leg up to the side in a high kick. With the instructor counting down, they had repeated the movements until the count of four. Then they had begun to kick high in front of their body. Again and again and keeping their posture. One and two and three and four. Then they kicked their legs straight back in an arabesque. Rick could hear the instructor correct another dancer as he was mentally and physically concentrating.
“Straight supporting knee, Morty.” the stern voice called out. Anywhere else, a Morty would be mocked and laughed at by the other Ricks. But here, every individual was too focused on their own technique to even turn their head. Anyone who would have an attitude or a mocking mentality, wouldn’t last long. In this art form, it was all about always improving yourself and your dancing.
For the next seven hours, it was nothing but dancing at the barre. In between, the dancers are given 15 minutes to stretch out their muscles to prevent soreness later on as well as to have a chance to eat. Rick raised one leg up in the air as he heard some other dancers chat with one another. Not that he hated people...much. He just preferred to focus on his body to perform to its highest potential. Bending down, he reached into his bag and grabbed a banana for him to chew on during his stretches. He has more to eat later on in case it is not enough to sustain himself before rehearsals. Protein bars were his best friends in that case. Before long, the instructor informs them all that their time is up and the class is done for the day. While it means they are no longer restricted to the barres, the day of dance was far from over.
Rehearsal time was important for any show the company would perform. While it would be months away, the dancers must rehearse each step and turn with grace and control before they perform on stage. They dedicate eight hours of their day to learn their choreography in the studio that include lots of clean pirouettes, leaping jetés, focused fouettés, and floating assemblés. Sweat drenched his clothes and forehead. But, the adrenaline dancing in his veins kept his body up to follow along. The piano music would speed up and he would be up to pace. Faster. Faster. FASTER-
“And pause!”
The instructor had called out, the piano had ended its song and the dancers had finished in their respective final pose of the act.
“Beautiful! Well done today, everyone!” The majority of dancers had been huffing and puffing, while Rick helped himself to his water bottle to hydrate.
“Tomorrow. Eight a.m. bright and early for warm ups. That will be all for today.”
And with that, the day of dance was over. It is now 9 p.m, and Rick made his way out of the studio to walk back home. As soon as he walked into his apartment, he quickly stripped off every layer of clothing and like that morning, make his way into the bathroom. This time, he would treat himself to a hot bath. Placing some lavender scented bubbles in the tub to help him sleep. When it was ready he slowly sunk into the hot water, sighing as his muscles relaxed at last. His eyes closed for a bit and he wore a content smile on his face. Rick was quite proud of himself today. He was pleased with his performance in class and during rehearsals. While it was very time consuming, he felt himself more satisfied in his life, knowing he was doing what he loved.
Relaxed enough, he exited his bathtub and flipped the lever for the water to go down the drain. Drying himself off with a soft towel, he grabbed his pajamas and hopped back into his bed, almost immediately falling asleep. Already, he had looked forward to what tomorrow could bring. He knew it would be good, as long as he was dancing.

MIRROR - The At Home Workout Gym
While I am not a big fan of following Instagram Influencers and celebrities on social media there is one exception to the rule – Hannah Bronfman. I find her content so positive and interesting that I also receive her monthly newsletter via email. She always shares her nutrition tips, workouts, fashion advice, etc on her social media platforms. One piece of new technology that she featured was Mirror. The mirror can be mounted, just like an actual mirror, to your wall but instead gives and instructs you through personalized workouts. I was blown away by this. As someone who struggled to get to the gym this summer early in the mornings or late in the evenings during a demanding internship, I wish I had a product like this, enabling me to get in a variety of workouts at home any time.
Tumblr media
I looked into how this new technology was developed and was surprised to learn it was created by a former professional ballerina. Brynn Putnam, formerly of the New York City Ballet, realized that as a dancer she had always taken for granted always having mirrors during practice to give her direct feedback. She then combined technology with a practical platform that can be put anywhere in the home to create Mirror. Feedback is at the center of the “smart decor’s” design. You can see yourself and the trainer as you perform each of the moves. If your form is incorrect the trainer can correct you in real time. When it is not in use, it transforms into a normal unsuspecting mirror in your home as shown below.
Tumblr media
This technology is giving people the freedom to do workouts on their own time without having to leave home. It is especially appealing to people who typically spend lots of money on frequent workout classes at various boutiques like Soulcycle, Flywheel, Pure Barre, Core Power, etc. The steep price of $1495 plus a $39 per month subscription to the live-streamed classes may look like a lot, but if you workout at a studio four times a week forty weeks in the year, that can cost around $5000 a year spent on fitness. With Mirror, you can get in more workouts in a more convenient way with a variety of classes like yoga, barre, pilates, boxing, cardio, boxing, and more. These on-demand classes are taught by certified instructors from the country's top fitness studios who give instruction and live feedback.
Tumblr media
Brynn Putnam says the workout classes on the Mirror are only the beginning. "We're looking to be the next screen in people's lives," she told The Times. "We desire to be an immersive platform, not just a piece of gym equipment." The screen could one day provide interactive services in fashion, beauty, or meditation. I could definitely see this taking off, becoming a type of smart technology standard in any home. Given the success of the Peloton, it would be interesting to see the Mirror incorporating additional equipment like a bike or treadmill that many people have in their homes.
