Terrence the Welcoming Monkey was fed up with things. “I just don’t want to welcome folks anymore.”

The look on Boss’ face would’ve saddened the jolliest of creepy mall Santas. “I… I don’t know what you mean, Terry.”

“I don’t want to welcome anyone anymore,” the Welcoming Monkey sighed, “I just don’t care if they’re welcome anymore.”

“You’re Terrence the Welcoming Monkey. You welcome everyone better than anyone in the welcoming business. By the time folks get to Jeffy the Money Handling Salamander, they’re so welcomed and happy, they just hand the money over.”

“Actually,” Jeffy started. He was in Boss’ other office chair, sitting next to Terrence.

“Oh no,” Boss interrupted, “don’t you start, Jeffy.”

“I just don’t want to handle money anymore.”

“Your actual name is Jeffy the Money Handling Salamander,” Boss shouted.

“No shouty Boss,” Terrence cowered. “You never shouty.” He was tearing up.

“Why?” Boss asked, tearing up himself. Terrence the Welcoming Monkey and Jeffy the Money Handling Salamander looked at each other, and held hands. Terrence had to lean in a bit, as Jeffy was a salamander.

“Oh,” Boss started to realize, “OH!” “You been awful good to us Boss,” Jeffy said. “We’re gonna move to Shinybutt City, make a fresh start…make a family,” Terrence revealed.

Now everybody cry.

Boss opened up the cash box, and plopped a wad into Terrence’s hand. Terrence couldn’t believe Boss’ generosity as Jeffy took the wad and started sorting out the bills.

“You go,” Boss say with a giant lump in his throat, “Go. Be happy, and have the ugliest goddamned kids that ever be.”
