‘What do you mean you’re not coming?’ Maria asked, the outrage obvious behind her voice. Cassie would have known anyway, her friend’s fingers had still in their movement through her hair, stilled in her attempts at doing some elaborate updo for Cassie.

‘She means,’ stated Saya, a smirk on her face as Cassie winked over her, ‘she’s not coming.’

‘But you’re a Legacy!’ Maria was up, standing in front of Cassie, the hairdo plans all but forgotten.

‘Fallen Legacy,’ noted Cassie. ‘Would I really be enjoying the dance, or would I be waiting for someone to assassinate me because my family finally found out?’

The comment hung in the air between them, souring the mood.

Cassie sighed. She hadn’t wanted to bring this down on them. She was eternally grateful that they hadn’t abandoned her, even if it did mean they had to see each other in secret, that these little moments were confined to one of their rooms and lies readily available should they get caught; today it was her room. She hadn’t fancied the possibility of having to face off against Chico.

‘We could just see a movie or something instead,’ she suggested.

‘Is there anything you want to see?’ asked Saya, tilting her head a little to one side.

Cassie shrugged. ‘All right then, find the first music thing and slip in. Still get to do the dancing, but less of the possible assassination.’

‘That does sound good,’ mused Maria, finally settling herself back on the edge of the bed. Cassie could hear the doubt behind her voice though, and knew Chico was at its heart.

‘Maybe,’ said Saya, trying to ease their friend’s worries, ‘Cass goes to find the place and we show our faces at the dance before meeting up.’

Cassie shot a quick look to Maria, saw the small smile already forming on her lips and nodded. ‘Sounds like we have a plan, girls,’ she said, trying to ignore the concerns bubbling at the back of her thoughts.

Some Harry Potter world building/headcanons because all my homies hate jkr and lacking world building.

- the professors that sit in the great hall are a portion of the actual Hogwarts professors

- the ones which sit in the great hall are heads of subjects with other professors under them who also teach

- these members of staff have their own hall for dining

- Minerva Mcgonagall as a cat can be seen in all common rooms because she is deputy headmaster

- the magical world follows traditional pegan/traditional British isle mythology, I.e Samhain, Ostara, Yule etc (I’m a beginner in this realm please tell me if I got someone wrong)

- Hogwarts accepts students from all over the continent, dumstrang is a sports / military academy and Bauxbatons is a private school

- The walls of the Hogwarts castle have been charmed to grow moss in very specific nice looking locations

- the trelawny family can trace their legacy all the way to the seer Cassandra of Troy

- Bellatrix was almost sent to bauxbatons because she kept rebelling

- there are regular sleep overs in the hufflepuff dorms, Cedric sent Harry an invite for the one that would’ve taken place after the tournament.

- the room of requirements resting form is a small nook, often found mysteriously stocked with pillows and blankets. It is also most often discovered by 1st year muggleborns when they particularly miss home (they all describe it to smell different, but all agree the smell they smell is comforting)

- all the founders contributed something to the school: Salazar, the chamber or secrets, Helga, the room of requirement, Godric, head masters office/quarters, Rowena’s has never been found.
