My cats yowl when they want attention, so now I'm imagining Mori walking around doing that while MC tries to sleep or something because he needs love. I also imagined Mori eating all of his food from the middle of his plate and then yowling because it's empty, even thought its not. All he has to do it look over 😂

like all cats, sometimes in the middle of the night mori has to stand in the corner and stare at the wall and just yell

i can at least attest mori isn't a Scarf-N-Barf-er like one of my cats

"Here. I know punks care more about style but it's too cold for the leather jacket." I love you. It's an old dusty canvas, heavy, waterproof, stitched with an inner fleece layer and decorated with outdated military camo. It's masculine, maybe more than they prefer, but it's nothing a few bedazzled belts and whatever buttons they can get through can't fix. It is, after all, all about the accessories.

"And this, too." She stuffs a scarf atop their coat folded in their hands. This, on the other hand, was sparkly pink and knit by hand by a friend of hers. I love you.

ㅤjacket thrust into their arms before they can even try to reject it, the scoff that escapes their throat mirrors the distaste which marks their features at the mere glimpse of camo print. they don't even have to unfold it to know that it's not their style and to guess that it's all straight and boxy and more about effectively blocking cold than looking good. ...which is probably smart, with how cold the weather's been and how they've had to make the choice between an impractical leather jacket that fits them and the more ideal hand-me-down winter jacket they've been using for years whose sleeves don't even cover their wrists anymore, but they don't love that fact. god, they hate this time of year.

raising a hand in order to run their fingers along the canvas material, byan's lip twitches yet again at the texture. the look, they can at least work with — some colourful dyes or fabric paint, a few buttons or pins or even some studs if they can get those through the thick material, and a cute belt to adjust the shape will be enough to make it suit their tastes a bit better. the texture, on the other hand, they'll be stuck with. ...but they suppose it is more practical for the winter months than anything else currently in their possession.

mouth opens with intent to expel some snarky, albeit not ungrateful comment, but they're stopped short when something much more their speed is set atop to coat. fingers gravitate toward the scarf, grabbing a handful of the much softer material while they admire the cute, sparkling pink yarn it's been made with. ...well, this makes it a lot harder to complain about the jacket. not impossible, but certainly more difficult.

"ㅤthe comment sounds a touch reluctant, like they don't want to admit to liking it but can't help it, their gaze remaining fixed upon the scarf as the weight of the gift finally starts to settle in. the coat is too big to have been hers, they're sure, and something so heavy duty is expensive. maybe it's thrifted, or passed on to her from one of her veteran friends, or something, but still... they can read the concern for their wellbeing in it even while she tries to conceal it so they'll just take the damn thing. and the scarf... lena doesn't knit, they're pretty sure, but she does know what they like. —not that they do anything but flaunt their love of pink and glittery, sparkly things, but it's not even just that, it's the fact that she knows them well enough to mix the practical with something they enjoy, that she knows to be casual and completely blasé when she hands it all to them so they won't refuse. they can see through the whole charade, the same way they're sure she'll see through theirs, but... it still makes it easier to accept how much she cares, and how thoroughly she has them figured out.

"ㅤthank you.ㅤ" —but i can prob'ly make it work. even if my leather jacket is cooler. i like the scarf, though. think it might actually match my beanie — y'know, the one with the cat ears? ...although i'm startin' to think that might be on purpose. I feed my cats using one of those dishes where direct eating is impaired by inconvenient architecture, requiring cats to fish out kibble with their paws before eating it. This is because one is prone to the "scarf and barf" dining style and I'm tired of cleaning it up

Anyway she hates this thing and has recently taken to dragging my little monster stuffie around, trilling loudly, to deposit it at me or my partner's feet and yell some more like "LISTEN BITCH I AM EITHER BRINGING YOU A GIFT OR A THREAT, NOW MAKE MY FOOD EASIER"

Cat: sneaks into closet while i have it open in order to climb into the very back and frantically scarf down spiderwebs before i notice

Me: pull him out, make him leave the room. Come back to bedroom to find he has barfed up a bunch of spiderweb onto my floor

Me: sigh, turn around, go back to closet to grab floor cleaner

Cat: immediately BOLTS for the closet to try to ingest more spiderwebs

so I bought a cat feeder, and the boys are both intrigued and horrified about cat food miraculously leaking out of the square thing on the floor. Jake was the braver of the two investigating it; Hardison slunk up a few minutes later to suspiciously sniff at it. They were fed before I embarked on my assembling adventure, but will undoubtedly be excited about the 6:30 AM possibilities since that is certainly earlier than I'm feeding anyone around here including myself :P

It's got two bowls to keep anybody from hogging, can feed up to 10 times a day (we're going with a nice classic breakfast, lunch, dinner and midnight snack). It can also be set to dispense slowly, to keep Jake, Señor Scarf-N-Barf, from the predictable consequences of his food being One Minute Late meaning he might Never Eat Again (unfortunately, it can't be configured for different routine for each cat, so Hardison will learn the benefits of eating slowly also. For him, it might help him be more satisfied with less kibble. Hope springs!)

It is HILARIOUS to have them both fluff up and watch it (the only sound it makes that I can hear, although I am admittedly quite hard of hearing from my misspent concert youth before they were advising earplugs, are kibbles falling into the dispenser bowl) I can't wait for them to start trying to figure out how to lick the MACHINE'S nose in the morning to get their breakfast (because I have two ridiculous thieves and hackers, I did look for good reviews on not being able to be jailbroken by ambitious paws :P)

So my cat can say "water."

He's said it twice now to me, plainly, and in context. Very big *insert meme of Perry the Platypus saying 'They'll never believe you.'* vibes.

Yes, he does have some of those voice buttons, but it takes so much coaxing to get even a dubiously intentional step on those.

No. I trained him on the words "water" and "food" since I met him as a blind, half grown, sick kitten. I wanted to show him where his dishes were and spend time encouraging him to eat and drink because he had a fever and not much appetite. Later I got the buttons and tried to get him to step on them every meal and everytime I refreshed his water dish. Not too much luck with that.

Then one night he's laying on my knees like normal, and we hear one of the other cats drink from the dish in the hall. This guy sits bolt upright and says, "wah-ah?" Nothing else. I wake up enough to praise him a little and pet him and fall back asleep.

Tonight when I get home, mom's already fed him, but hasn't put water on it, like I usually do. (He eats fast and barfs, so I was hoping to make his food easier to digest. He loves it so much he stops scarfing to follow me to the bathroom and back to pour the water.)

So as soon as I come in he rushes to me and headbutts my legs, then he runs to his half full food bowl, says, "wah-tah?" and starts eating.

"Water? You want water?" I ask. He follows me to the bathroom and back as I get water for his kibbles, then immediately resumes eating.
