Pompadour summons Villepastour to “reprimand” him. He declares to be more than happy to receive her sweet punishment. But Pompadour has to immediately cool him off, stressing that, hard to believe as he finds it, she is not into him. (Villepastour is excellent at pr since she thinks she is the exception to confirm the rule)(Pompom is emphatic. She stresses that if it depended on her exclusively, the marques would die in complete abstinence)(she teases since she recieves him -like she does Patrick- during her petit-lever, and while aristocrats recieved many people during their levers and it was meaningless, merely a protocolar thing, I get a sense of her toying with him, showing what he can never have) Since she has mentioned Newton as an example of a celibate man, he claims to not be an expert on the matter, deliberately missing the point she was driving to, to complain about how annoying it is that women now think they can read Newton through what he defines as Voltaire's summaries of his works for the benefit of the ladies. Pompadour seems upset. we get the sense that they’re old “friends” and that they usually tease each other like that. They jokingly hurt eachother, but deep inside they’re both bothered by it.

Borel lets us reconstruct via their dialogue that Pompadour has summoned him via a stern letter, warning him about not harming Patrick. Still, he jokingly (or at least Pompadour ignores him as if it were a joke) asks her for a lettre de cachet. Pomps asks about Patrick, praising him at every opportunity. Villepastour turns her praise into insults (alla Beausteant and Rastignac talking of Delphine at the Opera in Père Goriot) Pompadour realizes he has something against Patrick: “A woman”, replies Villepastour. More 18th c court witticisms ensue, they both insult the one the other is attracted by. There’s -again, ugh- a good line by Villepastour about chastity…. he says he understands the word little, but even so he still understands it more than the virtue that it’s attributed to it. (The french nobles are still the religious and moralistic skeptics)

And now we hop into a Diderotian philosophical dialogue: (nice shakespearean linguistic nihilism too)

“Marquis, believe me, this virtue is but a word.” “Then, madame, if this word designates a virtue which itself is but a word, my poor reason is starting to lose ground; mercy, it’s too much metaphysics!” 

It reminds me -perhaps because I tead it last week-of a moment in the Suite de l’Entretien (the sequel to D’Alembert’s Dream) You all know I love Diderot but this philosophical dialogue/private RPF of his friends comes across as sexist in a very basic way too. maybe he’s being true to who the people depicted were like, I don’t know, but it’s still moderately annoying… He has the woman (mme de l’Epinasse) start a philosophical argument with a man (doctor Bordeu) but as soon as he brings up matters she perceives as pertaining to The Sublime(TM), she claims to be exhausted by the discussion, so the doctor scolds her for tiring so fast of “being a man” and backpedaling to being a woman…. (Diderot is ofc not always sexist which is why i enjoy a lot of his work and life choices, etc) -_- Borel, refreshingly has the man instead of the woman reject the philosophical depth of the conversation to drive back to the point of it.

Anyways, Mme P. marks her territory, Patrick is hers (her protégé) and Villepastour must not harm him. But, he explains, he has to expel him, it’s the law, he killed his wife and therefore has no honour-not so much because he has killed a woman, but because he was found guilty of it. That is Villepastour’s chief concern, we suspect-(the man gets yet another cleverly written line):

“Yes, killed; but kind of how we kill in comedies; since she is the one I am dying for.”

There can be no doubts right now that the Marquis is sure Deborah is in fact who she claims to be. (but ofc this doesn’t matter, since Deborah was alive and in fact present during the trial at Tralee, and nobody payed heed to her testimony, that Patrick hadn’t attempted to murder her after robbing her) Even the performance of Honour Villepastour so adores could be served by his helping Patrick get his sentence pardoned. But of course he wants him out of his way. The law like Sade said is not equal for all, it is a tool of the rich to maintain their power (to prevent power from shifting hands like Vautrin said) here we have a pair of aristocrats completely willing to bend the law to to get what they want. Yes, a pair, because even if Pompadour laughs at the idea of musketeer’s honour (completely contradictory concepts according to her) and tells him that if he acts against Patrick Villepastour will answer with his head, she demands for him to break the law to preserve her favourite (we know Patrick is innocent, she knows it and Villepastour knows it. But this is not relevant, she’d still ask the same if he were guilty) who she says, she might deliver to Villepastour in a few days, or manage his destiny herself….

Patrick is in the hands of Fortune, not a Shakespearian Goddess, but a very tanglible, carnal pair of Aristocrats.

Ricardo Vignini lança o álbum Rebento no Sesc Pompeia

Dia 20 de julho, às 21h, um dos violeiros mais atuantes no cenário musical, compositor e produtor, Ricardo Vignini sobe ao palco do Teatro do Sesc Pompeia para apresentar o seu novo álbum Rebento.

Ricardo é referência na pesquisa e resgate de sonoridades, melodias e tradições musicais da cultura popular do sudeste. O cantor, com trajetória que passa de 27 anos de carreira, traz na bagagem cinco CDs ao lado da banda Matuto Moderno, seu primeiro trabalho solo Na Zoada do Arame, gravado em 2010, participações nos principais eventos sobre a viola no Brasil e integra também o duo Moda de Rock, com o violeiro Zé Helder.

Em 2016, Vignini amadurecia um sentimento por um novo álbum solo e hoje revela que as composições deste novo CD surgiram de forma mágica e fluida: “as músicas foram surgindo rapidamente e quando vi já tinha um álbum. Ele soa meio como uma trilha. Nasceu de repente, um Rebento”.

Rebento é quase todo autoral e tem 13 faixas instrumentais inéditas, sendo 10 assinadas por ele e três em parcerias, como conta Ricardo: “com o gaitista Sergio Duarte, meu parceiro há mais de 25 anos, fizemos a música ‘Pé Vermelho’, um baião com sotaque de blues que foi realçado com o pandeiro do Marcos Suzano; ‘Ventos de Novembro’ foi criada a partir de jams com Ari Borger no ano passado; e ‘Lua da Colheita’ também foi criada em uma jam com o Christiaan Oyens. Nela, eu toco viola caipira dinâmica e ele violão slide weissenborn”.

“Comecei a gravar o novo trabalho, chamei amigos musicais que fui acumulando durante a minha vida, que tinha vontade de compartilhar em um trabalho, mas não tinha tido a oportunidade ainda. Amigos como Andre Rass, Ari Borger, Chistiaan Oyens, Bruno Serroni, Fernando Nunes, Lúcio Maia, Marcelo Berzotti, Marcos Suzano, Rafael Schimidt, Ricardo Carneiro, e Sergio Duarte”, destaca Vignini.

O novo trabalho mostra maior pluralidade, abrindo um leque que vai da música raiz ao rock progressivo, passando por ‘Beijando o Céu’, uma homenagem a Jimi Hendrix que conta com a guitarra do Lúcio Maia (Nação Zumbi), ‘     Pé Vermelho’, um baião que tem a gaita blues de Sergio Duarte e a percussão de Marcos Suzano, ‘Ventos de Novembro’, que é um dueto de viola e piano com Ari Borger,e a única faixa que preserva o clima caipira é o pagode de viola ‘Dr Cateretê’, que conta com Rafael Schimidt no violão e o também parceiro de Matuto Moderno, Marcelo Berzotti no baixo. As faixas ‘Indiana’ e ‘O Bonde dos Fontes’ têm a influência de bluegrass. Já ‘Trevo’ e ‘BR 116’ lembra o rock progressivo e world music.

Ricardo Vignini tem seu trabalho reconhecido nacional e internacionalmente, já se apresentou nos EUA, Canadá, México, Europa e Argentina, e o CD Rebento já está nas rádios e podcasts de world music na Grécia, Espanha, Canadá e EUA.

Para o show de lançamento de Rebento, Ricardo Vignini é acompanhado por André Rass (percussão), Ricardo Carneiro (violão e guitarra), Sergio Duarte (gaita), Ari Borger (piano) e Bruno Serroni (violoncelo).

Sobre os músicos

Ricardo Vignini

Nascido na capital de São Paulo, Ricardo é produtor e pesquisador de cultura popular do sudeste. Gravou cinco cds ao lado da banda Matuto Moderno e participou de principais eventos sobre a viola no Brasil. O músico integra o duo Moda de Rock, com o violeiro Zé Helder. Ricardo ganhou grande projeção, apresentando versões de músicas de Jimi Hendrix, Metallica e Led Zeppelin. Gravou e produziu três CDs e um dvd do violeiro Índio Cachoeira.

Participou do CD Carbono do Lenine e do seu show no Rock in Rio 2016. Em 2010, lançou seu primeiro CD solo Na Zoada do Arame.  Dividiu o palco com artistas americanos como Bob Brozman – turnê brasileira em 2003 – e Woody Mann, em 2006 e 2008. Leciona viola caipira há 18 anos e produz CDs de vários artistas há 15 anos.

 André Rass

Nascido no dia 1° de maio de 1985, na cidade de Dom Pedrito (RS), André cresceu em meio à música e das festas animadas, as rodas de choro conduzidas pelo seu pai, violonista e seu padrinho, acordionista.

Com seu irmão, viajaram por todo o estado do Rio Grande do Sul e parte do Uruguai e Argentina. O contato com as murgas, candombes, milongas, chacareras, zambas, entre outros ritmos latinos, lhe deram novos horizontes no universo da percussão.

A inquietude de André o levou  para Salvador, onde pesquisou ritmos e folclore em tribos indígenas na região do recôncavo baiano.

O músico já tocou em vários trios elétricos e acompanhou nomes como Gerônimo, Luila, Ramiro, Olodum e realiza vários trabalhos tanto no palco quanto em estúdio e com diversos artistas, entre eles, a cantora e compositora Lucina, Tetê Espindola, Alzira Espindola, Na Ozzetti, Paulo Renato, o violeiro Levi Ramiro,

Ari Borger

Em atividade desde 1985, é mestre em piano blues, boogie woogie e hammond B3. Abriu shows para artistas como B.B.King e tocou com verdadeiras lendas do piano blues como os mestres Johnnie Johnson e Pinetop Perkins – pianistas de Chuck Berry e Mudy Waters. Morou em New Orleans, onde gravou seu primeiro disco e se apresentou nas mais renomadas casas de shows como Tipitina’s e House of Blues.

Seus discos já figuraram no TOP 10 da Real Blues Magazine, uma das mais importantes publicações do gênero.

Acompanhou e gravou com estrelas nacionais e internacionais, como Herbert Vianna, Rod Piazza, Jr Watson, Linwood Slim, Mud Morganfield Jr – filho de Muddy Waters, Sax Gordon, Mitch Kaschmar, Sugaray Rayford e Diunna Greenleaf, estes últimos ganhadores do Grammy Music Awards. Já gravou seis discos ao longo de mais de vinte anos de carreira, alternando entre o blues tradicional, boogie woogie, soul e o jazz.

Em 2015, Borger lançou um box, com cd e dvd, no festival de blues, o Samsung Best of Blues Festival.

Bruno Serroni

Bruno Serroni, multiinstrumentista, deu seus primeiros passos ao lado da amiga Blubell. Depois veio a banda de rock Pullovers e o disco Tudo Que Eu Sempre Sonhei (2009). Bruno tocou e gravou com Maria Dapaz, Natalia Mallo, Laura Wrona, Dudu Tsuda, com quem coproduziu seu disco Le Son Par Lui Même, Lulina, Luiza Caspary, Pipo Pegoraro, Marcelo Jeneci, Thiago Pethit, Labirinto, Quarto Negro, Leo Cavalcanti, Péricles Cavalcanti, Flavio Tris, entre outros.

Atualmente, Serroni toca no projeto de Dudu Tsuda e no trabalho solo de Hélio Flanders, do Vanguart. Em paralelo, ele mantém uma produtora de áudio chamada Nanuk.la.

Sergio Duarte

Com 20 anos de carreira, dois cds e o terceiro em fase de produção, Sérgio Duarte é considerado um dos pioneiros e mais importantes gaitistas do Brasil. Tem influenciado as novas gerações e seu trabalho é elogiado por figuras referenciais do blues mundial, como James Cotton, Sugar Blue e Mark Hummel e o lendário guitarrista Buddy Guy, para quem já abriu shows.

 Ricardo Carneiro

O músico paulistano tem 43 anos e toca violão, guitarra, viola machete e viola dinâmica. Seu estilo é folk e blues, com elementos do rock, viola brasileira e violão erudito. Lançou, em 2016, seu primeiro disco solo: NY 7577, produzido por Chico Saraiva.

Ricardo Carneiro começou como muitos guitarristas: tocando rock. Aos poucos foi somando estilos: tocou 15 anos na banda pop Quasímodo (com mais de 2.000 shows pelo Brasil e exterior); toca a viola machete do samba de roda; viola dinâmica com o violeiro Pernambucano Caçapa; guitarra na banda de Nicole Salmi, com a banda de rock Roxy, e faz shows na banda da cantora Alessandra Leão.

Sobre o Projeto Plataforma

Para lançar novos trabalhos de cantores e compositores, o projeto se estabelece como uma verdadeira plataforma para expor essas obras. O Plataforma confere um caráter original às apresentações e recebe, no Sesc Pompeia, artistas de diversos estilos e gerações.

Há mais de dez anos, o Plataforma apresenta lançamentos de CDs, DVDs, vinis e shows inéditos. Entre os artistas que passaram por aqui, estão Arnaldo Antunes, BNegão, Aláfia, Guilherme Arantes, Bixiga 70, Alceu Valença, Marcelo Jeneci, Fundo de Quintal, Felipe e Pepeu Gomes, Móveis Coloniais de Acaju, Nana Caymmi, Lenine, Nação Zumbi, Mundo Livre S/A e Jards Macalé.

Dieser Reisetag wird so einige Überraschungen für uns bereit halten. Sightseeing in Valognes, “dichte Mist” in Jobourg, very happy am Cap de Carteret und ein feuchtfröhliches Finale in Granville. What a Day!

Wir starten am Sonntagmorgen in Grandcamp Maisy und fahren auf der N13 gen Norden. Über Sainte-Mere-Eglise erreichen wir um kurz nach 11 Uhr Valognes.

  VALOGNES, DAS GEOGRAFISCHE HERZ DES COTENTIN

  Valognes, genannt das kleine Versailles der Normandie, empfängt uns freundlich, ruhig und wirkt fast verwaist. Gut so! Mir kommt der Song von Volker Lechtenbring und der Sonntagsbraten in den Sinn “Sonntag morgen”. Wie kommt man auf so etwas… Naja, egal!

  Barocke Adelspalais und Straßenzüge künden vom Glanz des Ancien Regime. Trotz erheblicher Zerstörungen im Zweiten Weltkrieg blieb das elegante Hotel de Beaumont erhalten.

  Laut Reiseführer beeindrucken im Inneren das monumentale Treppenhaus und Räume mit Mobiliar die mit Möbeln vom 17. bis 19. Jh. ausgestattet sind. Als Outdoorbegeisterte glauben wir diese Information ungesehen und streifen weiter ziellos aber begeistert durch die verlassenen Gassen.

  Mit der Rue de la Poterie blieb ein fast kompletter Straßenzug des 18. Jh. samt Herrenhäusern und Palais erhalten. Hier fühlt man sich binnen kurzer Zeit wie durch eine Zeitmaschine in eine andere Epoche versetzt.

  Hübsches Detail und zeitlos schön

Am Pont Saint George kann ich mich erst nach etlichen Aufnahmen von der idyllischen Szenerie verabschieden. Welche der folgenden Aufnahmen gefällt euch denn am besten?

  Das Cidre-Museum im “Maison du Grand Quartier” beherbergt das einzige Museum in Frankreich, das dem Apfelwein gewidmet ist. Der Besucher erfährt alles Wissenswerte über die Tätigkeit der Apfelweinherstellung, aber dies sei nur rein informativ am Rande erwähnt.

Nach zwei Stunden haben wir genug Eindrücke gesammelt um euch einen Besuch dieser schönen Stadt empfehlen können.

Auf der N13 setzen wir unsere Fahrt in den äußersten Zipfel im Nordosten des Cotentin.

Damit ihr überhaupt eine geographische Vorstellung dieses Reisetages bekommt nachfolgend eine kleine Übersicht.

  Natürlich haben wir eeetwas mehr Zeit für diese Rundtour verwendet. Im Departement La Manche kommt man an einem Besuch des Cotentin nicht vorbei. Laut Reiseführer kann man sich hier erholen und viele interessante Dinge entdecken.

Der blühende Ginster rechts und links der Fahrbahn gefällt uns auf jeden Fall ausgesprochen gut.

    Schön und gut aber was ist das? Exakt auf Höhe der Wiederaufarbeitungsanlage La Hague ist es plötzlich, unaufgefordert und unnötigerweise neblig. Man sieht die Hand vor Augen nicht. Hängt das etwa mit dem unheimlich wirkenden Betrieb zu unserer Rechten zusammen?

  Dieser Industriekomplex der Cogema-Gruppe im Gebiet La Hague ist etwa 2,5 Kilometer lang und etwa einen Kilometer breit und wirkt im Nebel echt gespenstisch.

Ebenso gespenstisch und unfassbar sind die Berichte rund um diese Wiederaufarbeitungsanlage. Umweltverschmutzung, erhöhte Krebserkrankung sind nur zwei unschöne Begriffe über die ich bei Recherchen stolpere.

Gegenwärtiger Hauptzweck dieser Wiederaufarbeitungsanlage ist die Trennung von Bestandteilen aus abgebranntem Kernbrennstoff. Damit möchten wir uns hier und heute allerdings nicht beschäftigen und legen die Fahrt gen Norden im nebelangepassten Schneckentempo fort.

  Laternenidylle im Nebel…

JOBOURG UND NEZ DE JOBOURG

In Joburg legen wir direkt am Friedhof einen Orientierungsstop ein und mir kommt MATERIAs Textpassage vom Titel Welt der Wunder in den Sinn “es bleibt ein mystischer Ort”.

  Könnt ihr hinter dem Pössl das Windkraftrad erkennen?

Während die beste aller Ehehälften frischen Kaffee aufbrühtt, ja so richtig mit Wasserkessel und Filter, stochern ich mich durch den Nebel zum Friedhof.

  Unheimlich schön, so oder so

Sieht das nicht gespenstisch schön aus? In Schwarzweiß sogar noch mystischer… Ach, irgendwie reißt mich erst das schrille Pfeifen des Wasserkessels aus meinen Tagträumen.

Sonntagnachmittag halb zwei in Jobourg am Friedhof fällt bei Kaffee und Keksen die Entscheidung auf die 3,5 km Geisterfahrt zum “Nez de Jobourg” zu verzichten.

  Nah dran, aber bei dem Nebel sagen wir “Nein danke!

Nez de Jobourg ist der Name der Felsklippen, die 128 Meter hochragen und die zu den höchsten auf dem europäischen Kontinent zählen.

Nez de Jobourg wird als Überwachungsposten für den Schifffahrtverkehr auf dem Meer genutzt. Der CROSS-MA, ungefähr 170 Meter hoch gelegen, überblickt den Ärmelkanal und beobachtet die Cargoschiffe und Tanker entlang des Kaps.

Man kann somit von der Felsnase Nez de Voideries den Panorama auf die Felsnase Nez de Jobourg, die Landspitze von Goury und die Kanalinseln genießen.

Auf der Felsnase Nez de Jobourg, die als Vogelschutzreservat klassifiziert wurde, nisten Haubenkormorane, Eisturmvögel, Silbermöwen und Kolkraben.

Die Felsnase Nez de Jobourg, ist nach dem Mont Saint Michel der zweit meistbesuchte Ort der Region La Manche.

  Könnt ihr hinter dem Pössl das Windkraftrad erkennen?

Aber was nutzt uns all das wenn man es weder sehen geschweige denn fotografieren kann? Nix! Gar nix! Direkt am Pössl können wir vom Windkraftrad nicht einmal die Flügel erkennen.

  Die Nebel lichten sich… geht doch!

Also fahren wir an der Westküste ein Weilchen gen Süden und siehe da, der Nebel lichtet sich. Und das ist auch gut so weil ich sonst doch glatt das braune Schild mit weißer Schritt übersehen hätte.

  Und wie von Geisterhand strahlt plötzlich die Sonne…

Auf Höhe Beaumont-Hague biegen wir von der D901 rechts ab auf die D403 und jetzt wird es kurvig und landschaftlich traumhaft schön. Welt der Wunder…

  Mitten in der Natur und weit und breit kein Mensch… unser Ding!

Und jetzt mal kurz Quasselpäuschen… Wir gehen wandern – kommt mit und genießt Ruhe, viel Grün, tolle Aussichten, hübsche Blümchen, ein kleiner Wasserfall und ach, einfach schön. Die Bilder sagen mehr als meine ungelenken Worte.

  Der Wanderweg, auf dem selbst wir uns nicht verlaufen können, führt uns sicher hin und zurück. Und wieder zurück am Pössl sind Nebel und Nez de Jobourg vergessen. Uns geht’s gut und das ist doch wohl das Wichtigste.

  Weiter geht die Fahrt. Über Vasteville, Benotville und setzen wir unsere Fahrt auf der Route de Cherbourg (D650) gen Süden fort. Und wer sagt’s denn, stehen wir zack, wieder bei strahlendem Sonnentscheiden, am Cap de Cateret😀.

  CAP DE CARTERET UND HATAINVILLE

  Über den Dünen von Hatainville thronend bieten die Felsen des Cap de Carteret einen außergewöhnlichen Ausblick auf die Kanalinseln. Auf dem Felsplateau des Kaps sind Heide und Stechginster der Lebensraum für die Provencegrasmücke, den Kolkraben und den Wanderfalken.

  Wir laufen bis zum Leuchtturm als sich unsere Wege, also die des zuverlässigen Chauffeurs und meine, für ein Weilchen trennen.

  Keinen Schritt weiter!

  ER pflegt die Augen und ich marschiere los um euch diese tollen Eindrücke einzusammeln.

    Um den Leuchtturm herum tragen die kürzlich restaurierten Trockenmauern zum Erhaltung des Kaps bei und führen mich entlang der Klippen der Côte des Isles.

        Zwischen dem Cap de Carteret und dem Cap du Rozel erhebt sich die Dünenlandschaft von Hatainville bis in eine Höhe von über 60 m und bedeckt Felsen, die älter als 70.000 Jahre sind. Vom Meer bis zum höchsten Gipfel der Dünenlandschaft ist die Vegetation stufenförmig angeordnet.

Zahlreiche seltene Arten leben in den Dünen, deren Farben sich mit den Jahreszeiten ändern: vom Blau des Strandroggens über das Violett des Sand-Thymians und das kräftige Rosa des Pyramiden-Hundswurz bis hin zum Gelb und Braun des großen Spinnen-Ragwurz. Zugegeben ich bin kein Botaniker. Mir reicht wenn mir Blümchen und Pflanzen gefallen. Und derer gibt es hier reichlich.

  Könnt ihr die Strandläufer erkennen?

  Von hier oben sehen die Strandläufer winzig aus. Und ich will auch dorthin. Im zweiten (oder dritten?) Anlauf finde ich den passenden Weg und juchhuuuu stehe ich ein Weilchen später am Meer.

Der Strand, die Felsen und insgesamt alles macht mich fast melancholisch. Welt der Wunder… Ich kriegs nicht aus dem Kopf.

Auf dem Weg zum Strand entdecke ich die Badehäuschen von Carteret. Sind sie nicht hübsch? Die schauen wir uns auf dem Rückweg noch aus der Nähe an… weiter geht´s!

  Nachdem ich etliche Strandeindrücke und viele Muschelkolonien fotografiert habe sind die Badehäuschen mein “Objekt der Begierde”. Ich zeige euch nachfolgend nur 4 von schätzungsweise 30 Aufnahmen.

      Spiegelbilder üben analog zu Laternen, Brücken, Landschaften und Parkbänke eine magische Wirkung aus.

“Ich muss da wieder hoch!” denke ich so bei mir und “ob Schatzi wohl noch schläft?”

Von hier unten am Strand sehen wiederum die Menschen oben auf dem Wanderweg sehr winzig aus…

  Und so laufe ich den gleichen Weg wieder zurück. Jetzt bloß keine Experimente😀

Es ist schon ziemlich merkwürdig, aber bereits am vierten von insgesamt 25 Reisetagen freue ich mich auf unseren 10 tägigen Urlaub Ende September.

Hierher möchte ich auf jeden Fall noch mindestens einmal reisen. Der Wunsch diese Info Fränki mitzuteilen lässt mich zum Pössl zurück “fliegen”. Ich denke die folgenden Bilder lassen diesen Wunsch nachvollziehen.

  Viel geschlafen hat er nicht, sagt er jedenfalls, aber nichts desto trotz muss ja irgendein Ziel ins Navi eingegeben werden.

“In Granville gibt es einen schönen Stellplatz”. Diese Feststellung reicht meinem Chauffeur um die Daten ins Navi einzugeben. Auf geht’s gen Süden über die D650.

  Auf den ersten Blick sieht diese Brücke recht normal aus…

Unterwegs entdecken wir im Vorbeifahren bei Pont de la Roque eine interessante Brücke. “Halt mal an!” Aber Frank hatte sie (die Brücke) auch schon entdeckt und kurze Zeit später schauen wir uns diese Brücke aus der Nähe an.

  Hier könnte ich Stunden wenn nicht Tage durch die Gegend juckeln. Einfach nur so. Aber um 19.17 Uhr Ortszeit erreichen wir den Stellplatz in Granville (Info dazu am Ende des Berichtes) und ein phantastischer Reisetag nähert sich dem Ende. Dachten wir jedenfalls bei der Ankunft auf dem Stellplatz.

  Hatte ich erwähnt, dass wir sehr kommunikativ sind. Leser, die uns kennen wissen es, den Neulingen sei es kurz erw��hnt.

  Möwe auf Laterne vor ziemlich dunklem Himmel – was soll das denn jetzt?

  Auf jeden Fall entdecke ich beim Versuch eine Möwe (auch so ein Lieblingsmotiv, aber in Deutschland fliegen diese “Viecher” ja ständig weg) ein weiteres “ST Kennzeichen”.

Ein fröhliches Hallo und abgekürzt … war die Party im Gange😎🖒🍺🍸

Mit der lieben Marianne und ihrem unterhaltsamen Lars verbringen wir einen unverhofft feuchtfröhlichen Abend.

Die erste Stunde verbringen wir zu viert in unserem Pösl dann setzen wir diesen geselligen Abend drüben bei Marianne und lars fort. Und dann schüttet es plötzlich unglaublich heftig. Es regnet nicht sondern als hört sich an als hätte dort oben jemand den kompletten Schieber zur Seite gezogen und der Regen von Wochen würde sich lokal auf diesen Stellplatz ergießen.

“Sind unsere Dachluken alle zu?” Etwas fragend schaut Fränki schon aus der noch trockenen Wäsche, macht sich aber vorsichtshalber auf den Weg um sich zu vergewissern.

Natürlich waren alle Dachluken ordnungsgemäß verschlossen. Leider gibt es keine Aufnahme um euch die nassen Klamotten zu zeigen, aber glaubt es mir, er war wirklich bis auf die Unterhose bleddernaß. Nach einigen Bierchen und Weinchen findet man soetwas ja sogar witzig. Wir drei noch mehr als Frank! Marianne hat aber mit reichlich Handtüchern den Schaden begrenzt und wir uns erst sehr spät von den Beiden verabschiedet.

Unsere Wege haben sich nach Granville leider getrennt, aber dieser Abend mit euch war die Krönung eines wunderschönen Tages. What a day😎

NMSU’s Professor Appointed to Post at Netherland’s University: This Week’s Industry News

NMSU’s Bernd Leinauer Appointed to Post at Netherland’s University Wageningen University in The Netherlands recently appointed Dr. Bernd Leinaur at New Mexico State University to its Endowed Chair for Sustainable Turfgrass Management. It’s the first time this special appointment has been made by the university. As part of his five-year, part-time appointment, Leinauer will provide turfgrass research expertise, co-teach courses related to sustainable turfgrass management, and supervise one doctoral student and one or two master of science students. He will spend approximately 50 days per year at Wageningen.

Palm Beach Passes Gas-Powered Leaf Blower The town council of this swank ocean-hugging community in southeast Florida in mid April passed a ban on noisy gas-powered leaf blowers despite landscapers’ warnings that the prohibition is a mistake, reports the Palm Beach Daily News. The ban applies to all properties smaller than an acre. The larger properties, many of which are multi-residential buildings, have said they need the more efficient gas-powered blowers and that noise complaints haven’t been a problem for them. Landscape company owners urged the council to step up enforcement of its noise ordinance instead of the ban, which they said will force the companies to invest in battery-powered or electrical blowers. Kirk Carlson of Armstrong Landscape Group said field-testing of 36 battery-powered blowers showed only 10 were below the town’s 65-decibel noise limit.

H-2B Visa Workers Sue Tennessee Landscape Firm A Guatemalan man and two of his former co-workers, working with H-2B visas, have filed a federal lawsuit against a Tennessee landscaping company, accusing the firm of trafficking immigrants for forced labor, reports the Associated Press. One man said he was treated like a servant and threatened with deportation if he complained about working conditions at Outdoors Unlimited landscaping company in Murfreesboro, about 35 miles southeast of Nashville. The men claim they were taken to work sites six days a week but had no way to get to a shop to buy food. They also say in the suit that they routinely worked 60 hours or more per week but were not paid for all their labor. The company deducted $200 per month for housing and utilities. In legal filings, the company has denied that the men were cheated out of any wages. A trial has been set for March 2018 in U.S. District Court in Nashville.

Gothic Landscape Acquires Orange County’s Terra Pacific Gothic Landscape, headquartered here with regional offices in Arizona and Nevada, on April 6, announced it acquired Orange County, California-based Terra Pacific Landscape, one of the premier landscape service providers to Class A commercial properties in Southern California. Gothic has been family owned and operated since 1984, and provides landscape construction and maintenance services. Terra Pacific, founded in 1988, has branch offices in San Diego, Los Angeles and the Inland Empire. Richard Wingard, founder and owner, manages Terra Pacific.

HydroPoint Helps Oracle Win Silicon Valley Water Conservation Award HydroPoint Data Systems, the maker of WeatherTRAK smart irrigation technology, has helped Oracle realize dramatic water savings at their two Silicon Valley campuses. By using reclaimed water, smart irrigation controllers and other conservation efforts, Oracle saved a total of $573,000 in 2016 and 91 million gallons of potable water. HydroPoint WeatherTRAK smart controllers helped reduce irrigation water by 29 percent, saving $91,000 and 10 million gallons. In recognition of their efforts, the Silicon Valley Water Conservation Awards Coalition conferred Oracle with the overall award for efficient water use in 2016 by a business.

Toro Lands City of Mesa of Arizona Contract The Toro Company has been awarded a new cooperative purchasing contract from the City of Mesa, Arizona, for use by all municipal agencies and other authorized users. The equipment includes a full line of products from commercial turf care equipment, irrigation solutions, construction equipment and landscape contractor equipment. The cooperative National Intergovernmental Purchasing Alliance is marketing the contract nationally. This national cooperative contract is a single award, which offers lower costs plus time and resource savings to participating agencies nationwide. The cooperative purchasing agency works with more than 48,000 entities across the United States and strives to provide economical buying opportunities for their members. The contract officially went into effect on April 1, 2017.

Equipment Dealers Embrace Propane Equipment Dealer Point In just six months, nearly 500 outdoor power equipment dealers have been added to Propane Equipment Dealer Point. The free, searchable database, at http://ift.tt/2oUgCv1, allows landscape contractors to find local, knowledgeable dealers committed to selling propane mowers. The tool was launched in summer 2016 by the Propane Education & Research Council and continues to grow by the day. Every equipment dealer listed in the database is vetted by a series of questions prior to being listed so contractors know they are contacting a dealer with a legitimate interest in selling propane equipment in addition to an ability to answer their questions about the fuel.

Larry Giroux Joins Central Turf & Irrigation Supply Central Turf & Irrigation Supply, Elmsford, New York, recently appointed Larry Giroux as VP of business development, Midwest. Giroux most recently worked at Site One Landscape Supply where he was the national marketing programs manager. He brings nearly 25 years of industry experience to this new position, having worked for John Deere Landscapes, Century Rain Aid and Willkie Turf. Giroux will take on responsibilities for development of sales, marketing and customer support initiatives to support Central’s expansion. Larry will be based in Michigan.

NCNLA Names Hannah Singleton as Professional Development Manager The North Carolina Nursery & Landscape Association, Inc. has announced Hannah Singleton as the organization’s new Manager of Professional Development. A native of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Singleton is a 2014 graduate of the University of Mount Olive with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education and a minor in Psychology. Singleton will assist NCNLA with inbound sales; account management; social media marketing; hands-on plant identification, tagging and quality control; and job costing. She had previously taught Horticulture and Agriscience at West Cateret High School in Morehead City, North Carolina.

Congressman Introduces SEASON Act to Help Seasonal Businesses Small Business Committee Chairman Steve Chabot (R-Ohio) has led the introduction of legislation essential to providing relief for small and seasonal businesses that are suffering under a lapse in the H-2B visa program. H.R. 2004, the Strengthen Employment and Seasonal Opportunities Now (SEASON) Act. The SEASON Act clarifies the role of temporary legal workers in the American economy, who are in no way seeking or becoming qualified for permanent legal status or residency in the United States under an H-2B visa. The bill stipulates that a returning temporary alien worker can receive an H-2B visa in subsequent, consecutive fiscal years without being counted towards the annual statutory cap, allowing businesses to meet labor demands during their peak seasons.

since   the   island   is   so   small,   there   isn’t   a   college   in   brentwood .     but   there   are   several   nearby   universities   and   community   colleges !     cateret   community   college   would   be   the   closest,   being   in   morehead,   but   chapel   hill   and   unc   wilmington   are   both   within   two   hours .    check   out   these   pages   for   some   more   ideas !
