Frankly, she had a chance to do something interesting with her fashion, like supporting small businesses/charities like the “Issy star” earrings that Catherine supports. Instead, we got super expensive brands like Roland Mouret or Chanel.
Don’t get me wrong, Catherine also spends a lot on clothes but she has been around for so long and she rewears so much, her 20 year old boots and 10 year old jackets have already paid themselves twice. And she’s the freaking Princess of Wales.
Yep, and I think that was one of Meghan’s bigger fashion mistakes. I get it, she wanted to wear couture and designed after spending her whole childhood looking through the windows of Beverly Hills. But she could’ve actually made it as a fashion influencer (ish) had she stuck with small indie labels. Even if she only ever wore women-owned brands, she could’ve done a lot for charity in a way that set her immediately apart from Kate.
The problem with going exclusively designer couture like she did is that you’re going to compete with Kate and no designer will choose to dress you when the future Princess of Wales/future Queen is an option. And not only are you competing with Kate for the actual garments, you’re competing in a “who wore it best” contest….and when you can be bothered to iron your garment, snip the tailor’s stitch, fold down the collar, it’s going to show. You’re going to lose the fashion showdown every time so why even bother playing, right?
That’s why I don’t feel so badly when Meghan complains about her Duchess wardrobe. She brought it on herself by trying to one-up Kate in Kate’s own clothes and had she just not, she could’ve made a separate name for herself.

Well, well, well...
It's been approximately two months since the pr narrative about The Waleses being all about "the work" started.
And just think of all the pictures we now have of them working! The Waleses, they're just like us!
In fact, so dedicated is Kate to "her work" that she didn't even wear any dresses, except for that one time when she wore a dress to a memorial service for QEII in Wales.
Otherwise, Kate is all about business work! That's why she wore suits!
Just count em'!
Rugby podcast video: A Catherine Walker blazer in Prince of Wales check, Alexander McQueen Tailored straight-leg trousers/pants, and white shirt.
09 Sept 2023: Rugby World Cup appearance in white pantsuit; white/ivory Alexander McQueen blazer with white pants/trousers (possibly Roland Mouret).
12 Sept 2023: Alexander McQueen Amethyst suit
14 Sept 2023: Maje Vincio Blazer in Houndstooth tweed with black pants/trousers and shirt/sweater
18 Sept 2023: Holland Cooper Double-Breasted Twill Blazer in black with black pants/trousers and white shirt.
19 Sept 2023: Roland Mouret custom suit in beige
26 Sept 2023: Burberry Wool Tailored Suit in green
27 Sept 2023: Zara Textured Double-Breasted Long Blazer in red, LK Bennet Frieda Pants/Trousers in black
28 Sept 2023: Holland Cooper suit in navy chalk pin stripe
03 Oct 2023: Holland cooper suit in navy chalk pin stripe
04 Oct 2023: Cefinn Janie Sleeveless Funnel Neck sweater/jumper in mid-grey with Sezane Martin Trousers in mottled grey
05 Oct 2023: Oxen Sports ensemble
10 Oct 2023: LK Bennet Mya Blazer in yellow with black sweater and black Roland Mouret Axon Wide Leg pants/trousers
Wow.
THIRTEEN ensembles before Kate wore a skirt again.
She wore so many pantsuit ensembles that The Telegraph posted an article about it.
For eight out of the ten new appearances she’s undertaken in the past three weeks, the Princess has worn either a full trouser suit or a blazer with coordinating trousers. She’s mostly chosen muted colours and she’s largely been recycling previously seen pieces.  [...] If three’s a trend, then these many tailored looks point to a very deliberate change in style direction from Catherine, who has always used her fashion choices to send messages. So what is she trying to tell us here? “It’s a look of the moment, which works well on the Princess with her long legs, and those boxy jackets suit her,” said Ingrid Seward, the editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and author of numerous royal biographies. “She wore those ‘little girl’ dresses for so long, but now she wants to look more sophisticated. It’s more of a work-day look; she doesn’t need to be in dresses anymore. A suit is snappier and smarter.” A year after assuming their Wales titles, Catherine and William are shaping their new roles for a modern era. “Catherine’s suits come at a time when the Waleses are making the way they work much more businesslike,” Seward said, adding that their increased workload and fresh approach to running their office, with the imminent appointment of a CEO, points to a polished and professional attitude from the future king and queen.  If Catherine has spent the past decade being viewed as a mother and young duchess, with a wardrobe of ladylike looks to reflect that perception, then now that she is in her 40s it may feel like the right time to swing the narrative.
Wow. Ten plus years as a royal and only now does she want to be taken seriously! So much for wearing bright colors like Queen Elizabeth II so that people can see you. It's "muted colors" time now!
And it’s understandable that she might use what Seward called “the look of the moment” to craft a serious yet chic uniform that reflects her current priorities. But there are other long-time admirers of Catherine’s style who miss her softer, more classically “princessy” outfits.  “I don’t mind the occasional trouser or suit, but she’s been wearing this style so much of late,” wrote Jane Barr, who comments on the Princess via her Instagram page, From Berkshire to Buckingham. “I really miss the beautiful dresses and coats. This is, very frankly, boring. She is the Princess of Wales. I’d like to see some more pizazz.” The time for pizazz may come later in the autumn, especially if Catherine attends a state banquet set to be held in honour of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol in November. For now, though, “blazers are more powerful than a dress, tougher and less feminine,” according to Berkeley. “The armour plating one needs to get a job done, in my book.”
Oh, is it all about the work now? Blazers and business suits to "get a job done"? Just like Gordon Rayner wrote two months ago, "Kate is keen to do more." I see all members of the British press, who write about Kate and the royals, have received the message loud and clear that Kate is all about "the work."
Was there a risk that the press would assume Kate is not about "the work" these days? For what reason would anyone assume something like that? Is there something that the unspectacular Kensington Palace comms team hasn't told peeps about? Some "ongoing situation" that is going to become permanent?
I'm sure nothing significant will be happening regarding The Waleses in the next two weeks while their three school-age children are on half-term break. It's not as if we are currently in a period of time where shit just springs out of nowhere with no warning. Just ask Israel! They received multiple warnings that Hamas was planning shit and ignored it. See! They were warned about it. It didn't come out of nowhere even though everyone outside of the Israeli government didn't know about it.
You can't blame the messenger when people just don't want to listen.

I love how she tries to do something and uses Kate wearing Roland Mouret. I mean make some effort and use the green EW from wimby in that case lmao
But that would mean she’d have to engage her brain so it’s probably hard
wait she did use the green EW from wimby in her second comparison
but regardless Meghan’s EW was a mess, Catherine’s was purrrfection except for the wrinkles

What dress do you think Catherine will wear to Earthshot?😍
Assuming she'll keep with the "recycling" vibe, I want to see the green McQueen dress she wore to SPOTY in 2012 (I know she was pregnant then but just get it altered pls and thx).
Tumblr media
If not that, I want her to wear the floral Erdem gown she wore in 2015,
Tumblr media
her blue Roland Mouret,
Tumblr media
or her Phillipa Lepley gown from earlier this year

Remembrance Day Recap 2018
Tumblr media
Catherine, and William creeping in the corner, attended the Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall in 2018. Kate wore the most gorgeous Roland Mouret dress with an asymmetric neckline and a silver zipper running all the way down the back. The dress is no longer available for purchase.
According to What Kate Wore Kate’s shoes and clutch are both by Jimmy Choo and both are velvet. The clutch is their Celeste style and it’s still available for purchase here but it would need to be customized for the color and gold hardware.
I also found the shoes here but in suede, not velvet, and they are the Romy 100--the shoes are available with lower heel heights for those of us who are not as graceful as Kate. I wondered briefly if Kate was in fact wearing suede instead but there’s a shine to the shoe that’s common for velvet.
Her earrings are thought to be J. Crew, thanks to  Kate’s Closet for the I.D. They were originally thought to be another loan from the Queen but they much more resemble the J. Crew earrings below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The good news is, they are still available for purchase here for $68 USD.
The brooch LOOKS like it’s just paper poppies clustered together. But in fact, under the poppies is a brooch on loan from the Queen.
Tumblr media
The next morning, Kate attended National Service of Remembrance held annually at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London. This service is held on the 2nd Sunday of November as it falls the closest to the 11th of November. Family members who do not participate in the service stand watching on the balconies of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office overlooking the Cenotaph.
And we got the most ICONIC photo of Our Queen and next two Queen’s in waiting
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This photo right here, THIS is the moment Catherine arrived. This is a confident woman who know’s what she wants in life, how to get it, and is ready to be the next Princess of Wales. This is forever the moment, in my mind, that Catherine was completely ready to take on the full responsibility her role required in taking up the mantel of the Princess of Wales and eventually Queen.
This fierce coat is by Alexander McQueen and by far my favorite Remembrance day look. The white collar, the red epaulettes, the silver buttons, all on that black, perfectly tailored coat? Perfection.
Her hat is Lock and Co and just whimsical enough for this look. Catherine wore her hair up with a braided chignon and it looks gorgeous. I like this bun more than her side buns which look a little haphazard--this is neat and beautifully done.
Tumblr media
Catherine’s earrings are Cassandra Goad Cavolfiore Pearl Studs which she debuted at Prince Louis’ christening earlier in the year. They are still available for purchase here.
For her poppies Kate chose three paper poppies along with a brooch from the Royal British Legion Poppy Shop and is still available for purchase here.
And we saw Kate ONE more time that day. William and Kate attended a service at Westminster Abbey with other members of the Royal family to mark 100 years since the Armistice.
Tumblr media
Taking a step away from all the black, Catherine rewore a green bespoke, double breasted Catherine Walker coat dress with velvet collar, cuffs, and pockets. This dress was worn previously on St. Patricks Day in 2017 and for an arrival in Paris for a short tour which started on the same day.
Sticking with the velvet theme, Kate wore her velvet Romy Jimmy Choo’s and her velvet Celeste Jimmy Choo clutch from the night before at the Festival of Remembrance with more details above. She also wore a new velvet hatband by Jane Taylor.
Her earrings are the same Cassandra Goad Cavolfiore Pearl Studs from earlier in the day but she switched out her brooch for another by the Royal British Legion Poppy Shop and it’s still available for purchase here.
Tumblr media
And that’s 2018! We’ll be seeing the outfits for 2019 very soon!

Because fashion is, and always will be, an eternal restart, it's not uncommon for certain fashion trends from years past to reappear on the red carpet. Between the Mireille Darc-inspired "plunge neckline" dress identifiable by a stunning open back, the cut-out dress worn by Carla Bruni and Sharon Stone, or the see-through dress made popular by Emily Ratajkowski when she walked up the steps at the Cannes Film Festival 2022, there is another one that asserts its legitimacy: the bardot neck dress. Kate Middleton: + 293% searches for her "bardot neck" dress Irresistibly fashionable, Kate Middleton made a very prominent appearance at the London premiere of the new part of the saga top gun. Accompanied by her husband, Prince William, and Tom Cruise, the future queen of England stole the spotlight from the American actor by sculpting his V-shape in a black and white round neck dress, showing off her set of shoulders. Signed by Roland Mouret, the creation earned Catherine Middleton the credit of increasing +293% search for the keywords "bardot dress" +293% in less than 24 hours, depending on platform i love sales. A remarkable score thus premeditating the operational return of this spectacular clothing trend. Bardot neck dress: how to wear it in 2022? Terribly sensual, the boat neck dress It responds to the style of the 60s, a time in which the French actress Brigitte Bardot claimed to wear this homonymous dress cut. Paired with bare shoulders, this tailored bomber jacket has the merit of being worn outside of Red carpet. In the city, during our free time, we consider the bardot dress with pieces of character. Wedge mules, a sophisticated bag, or sunglasses... In other words, the entire stylistic panoply to respect the rule of less is more : stay connected without doing too much In a relaxed atmosphere, wear it with flip flops, sailor or sports sandals, and with a denim jacket if you feel like it. Head to work, in mode businesswoman activated, we wear the boat neck dress with more elegant pieces. A sober jacket with shoulder pads, a synthetic leather belt, colored pumps... This trend invites a thousand and one possibilities. Also read: (function() var _fbq = window._fbq )(); window._fbq = window._fbq || []; window._fbq.push(["track", "PixelInitialized", ]);

About the Top Gun: Maverick Gown
Sidenote re: wearing the Roland Mouret gown now...
Duchess Catherine often wears British designers to British events and has worn Roland Mouret before. This occasion is more than Catherine wearing a UK designer: his company was reported as going under the end of last year. Duchess did him a huge solid wearing this dress. Pictures of her (and that dress) looking fabulous went around the world, yet were not so beautiful as her kind spirit, I think.

The Princess of Wales’ Stats - Fourth Quarter
In the final three months of 2022, the Princess of Wales completed 40 engagements, averaging around 13.3 engagements a month. Her busiest month was November, during which she completed 20 engagements. She undertook 12 engagements in December and 8 in October, where she also appeared in four released photos, videos, or statements. In December, Catherine appeared in 6 officially released photos, videos, or statements (most of which were related to her 'Together at Christmas' carol concert) and she was spotted once (on Christmas Day). While 2022 was a notably quiet October for the Princess, it was Catherine's second busiest December (behind 2014 and 2020 - both of which also included 'tours'), and busiest November ever.
Of her 25 patronages, (Catherine became Patron of Captain Harpreet Chandi's solo expedition to cross Antarctica in October), she has visited or completed work for 4, totalling 15 engagements in total. In October, Catherine completed two engagements on behalf of her patronages. 1 of those was the above mentioned Captain Chandi patronage, where Catherine made a phone call to Polar Preet. The other was for the Royal Foundation. In November, she completed five engagements on behalf of the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales, one for the Rugby Football League and one for the Maternal Mental Health Alliance. All her patronage work in December (6 engagements) was related to the Royal Foundation.
Of her 40 engagements, 19 have been solo while another 16 were when she was accompanied by her husband, the Prince of Wales. Seven engagements took place with wider range of members of the British Royal Family - many of them related to Remembrance Sunday, as well as the Diplomatic Corps Reception, the South African State Visit, and Catherine's own Carol Concert.
Her engagements have mostly taken place in the UK, in England (25) and Northern Ireland (3). Her other 12 engagements took place in the USA, in Boston. Of her UK-based engagements, 15* took place in London, while she had two telephone meetings. She also undertook engagements in Windsor, Surrey, Belfast, Carrickfergus, Scarborough, Wigan and Reading. NOTE: A number of her engagements were meetings and could have taken place in either London or Windsor. As the Princess of Wales’ official residence remains in London, I will be counting these as taking place there until informed otherwise.
With a tour, State Visit and the Diplomatic Corps reception, many of her engagements have been diplomatic in nature, with seven engagements falling in that area specifically, while the majority of her engagements were once again under the mantle of Early Years (8). 4 of her engagements have focused on the mental health, while 3 engagements have been focused on sport. Two engagements apiece were on the themes of the military and culture. She also undertook an engagement specifically linked to the outdoors, as well as one linked to children and young people. Twelve of her engagements did not fit into the theme headings I have created.
Clotheswise, her most worn identified designer has once again been Alexander McQueen, followed by Gabriela Hearst and Roland Mouret, although she has worn three unidentifed looks. Her most carried bag designer was Mulberry, followed by DeMellier. Her most-worn shoe designer is, again, Gianvito Rossi, althought she has three unidentified shoes (thought to be bespoke Rossi designs). In terms of jewellery, she has predominantly worn Kiki McDonough pieces or pieces inherited from the late Princess of Wales (with 5 wears each), closely followed by items borrowed from the late Queen with 4, and Bentley and Skinner and Annoushka with 4. When it comes to hats, Catherine was seen in three hats, with Philip Treacy creating 2 of them (the other is from Sean Barratt). She also wore two tiaras - the Lotus Flower Tiara and Queen Mary's Lovers Knot Tiara.
Tomorrow, the full review of Catherine’s work in 2022 will be released.

harryandmeghansussex’s nothing but nice november challenge ↳ State dinner - what's Meghan in? [22/30]
LOOK ONE: REALISTIC - details: angel schlesser gown || sophia webster riko sandals || aldo clutch || pippa small rings || pippa small earrings || karen walker ring || damiani dorotea bracelet || queen mary’s diamond bandeau tiara reasoning: meghan loves her monochromatic look and she hasn’t looked better than her givenchy gown and golden bangles look from the fashion awards. this gown is a very simple, stylish look, similar to her second wedding gown from stella mccartney. the shoes - which she already owns - add a bit of an edge to the look, as does the new damiani dorotea bracelet, without clashing too much with her overall look. I pulled out some of her rings that I thought suited this look best; as the dress is so simple, I chose some of her more exciting rings, as well as matching pippa small earrings. the pattern on the clutch ties in well with her shoes, and doesn’t detract too much from the overall appearance of the look. I can’t see her getting a new tiara but with the stunning wedding tiara she wore, she doesn’t need a new one
LOOK TWO: DREAM -  details: roland mouret gown || stuart weitzman pumps || rupert sanderson clutch || missoma rings || monica vinader earrings || monica vinader rings || pippa small bangle || queen mary’s diamond bandeau tiara reasoning: so my dream would be for meghan to turn up in a forest green gown or a burgundy or oxblood one but I couldn’t find one I liked that suited meghan so I went for this white roland mouret gown. roland mouret designs dresses which look like they are made for meghan and i’d love for her to wear him more. i’ve added in as many red accessories as i can because I think the bright postbox red goes well with both the white gown, the gold bangle, and the silver tiara. i found this simple rupert sanderson clutch which i really liked and then had to choose between these pumps or shinier louboutin ones, but i didn’t want her to be too shiny!!! the jewellery is mostly rose quartz, because the softer pink suits meg and she’s not as matchy matchy as catherine, but it’s not too far removed from the red of her accessories (i would quite like her to choose full on rubies as well). the gold pippa small bangle adds glamour to the upper half of her body and, again, her wedding tiara is so good I don’t want to swap it
