been hunting for excuses to write about him again before rgg8 and i finally found one

i didn't think much of this scene when i played through it initially, but going back to it i suddenly remember that scene from the start of yakuza 1 where he tells kiryu that kazama used to be the tojo clan's top assassin. being as close to kazama as he is, i have no doubt he already knows the true nature of sunflower and the deaths of kiryu and nishiki's parents at this point.

a big part of the reason i like to lowball kashiwagi's age (29 or 30 in Y0; mid-sixties in IW) is because i don't think he'd have had such an idealised view of kazama had he been any closer in age to him when they first met. i don't know if they'll ever tell us how long kashiwagi was in the family before he made captain, or why he swore up in the first place, and frankly i don't ever feel informed enough to make those kinds of decisions for my own headcanon. but if he was, say, in his late teens or early 20s, i don't think it would be a stretch to say he might still take some influence from kazama's mentality. absolutely not as much as if he was a sunflower kid (...could he have been a sunflower kid??), but enough to inform decisions he makes later in his life.

to wander further down the path of non-canon, i'm not sure kashiwagi would have decided on his own not to say anything to the boys for thirty-odd years. kazama clearly harbours a lot of guilt around the fact he murdered enough parents to fill an orphanage, and keeping it from the kids means he doesn't have to confront that fact every day he sees them. they miss their parents, but they look up to kazama for offering them a new life. they enjoy his company. they're happy. why risk demoralising them, kashiwagi, after all that?

on the other hand, he could have just kept himself out of it on purpose like he does here. it's an interesting parallel to how he's described in yakuza 3 - staying out of ichiban's drama because he trusts him to sort it himself, vs staying out of clan drama to not bring anything down on his head as clan captain (which obviously doesn't work). still, he refuses to relay daigo's whereabouts to kiryu, because he thinks it best kiryu doesn't know. for valid reasons, but it's there.

i want to say something profound here but i don't think i can. i just really like him in this game. it's nice to be able to see how he's grown and changed as a person since the 80s; since kazama's death; since he got gunned down in his office and died in the arms of his last remaining family figure. but it's also nice to see the ways in which he's stayed the same. this scene from 7 is one of the things that makes me long for a more kazama-centric game, or at least more exploration of kazama's character, because if that gaiden substory is anything to go on he's been informing kiryu's decisions for basically his entire life. it'd be cool to get a more direct peek into kazama's story.

Week 1: oh, Assassin's Creed is kinda cool

Week 2: I have made a self insert.

Her name is Manuela Aguiar. She goes with the modern gang of ragtag Assassins up to the 3rd game - Desmond, Shaun, Rebecca, and Lucy. And William I guess.

She's among other things, a psychologist, monitoring Desmond's mental state as he ventures into the Animus. When he fell into a coma, she studied the notes stolen from Abstergo about Subject 16, in hopes to break his mind out of it's prison.

She's also herself an Assassin in training. One of the few people in the still living Order with the genetic memories of an Assassin ancestor, she trains her abilities through the Animus' bleeding effect, living the life of her ancestor Siomara Laura-Lucia de la Cruz Cárdenas. She does have a bit of a crush on Desmond, but never brought it up due to their somewhat doctor-patient relationship. Besides, his heart already belongs to someone else.

Aaaa I just saw this super touching art piece by GiuGabs on Twitter of Rusty Rose releasing the Birdie powering her and sacrificing herself and man... if Rusty Rose actually paralleled Gamma in Prime at some point I'd be bawling probably. I doubt they'd have a death in this show like that since it seems they're going for a younger audience, at least in comparison to say, X, but that would be so beautifully tragic and fitting for her... 😭

Heyo! thanks for the ask. im going to be doing this for my newest FO catra. ✍️: Overall, how does the fandom trait you? Are you a beloved character, or hated? Are you popular, or a minor side character? Anything in between? - Oh id probably be hated XD id be part of the "John x catra" VS "Adora x Catra" ship war XD. they would be a popular one as they are part of the main cast, but like i said. part of the divisive ship that is at odds with another one XD 📝: How would your story in canon go? How would you influence the events of the original story? - Story goes he grew up as the super pal trio equivalent of the horde (being him, Adora, Catra) and when adora abandons the horde he and catra and left alone together. He vows that no matter what happens he swears to always be by her side no matter what, and he does so as catra slowly descends into her madness with him being loyal to her as he promised. It tears him apart inside because he hates seeing the person he grew up with go down such a dark path but he is her friend and swore to be by her side even during the portal incident. Catra had already started to have feelings for him but she was to afraid to say anything about them. Afraid that either he would abandon her like adora did or that she would chase him off with her feelings so she buries her feelings for him deep down (the negative feelings of it going towards adora as a scape). after the portal events he admits to having feelings for her to but it was as the portal destroyed them both so she isnt sure if he said it and refuses to believe it (thinking it was part of her broken mind in that moment). and he is to afraid to say it as well, feeling like she isnt ready for a relationship and so doesnt say anything after it. lots of misunderstood thinking and emotions. Alot of the story stays the same with a few little exceptions here and there. Him having snuck away with scorpia to save entrapta (having told catra he was going to search for some magic artifacts) and coming back to her. 💞: Aside from with your f/o, who else would you commonly be shipped with? Why? - I can funnily enough see him getting shipped with adora (maybe having abandoned with her in an AU), scorpia (big girl and funny wizard man with kind hearts), and entrapta (the whole rescue part)

Another thought on Studio Bones and season six. My Hero Academia has been nominated in the Anime Awards every (active) year since the show started. But it's stats have gone down. Here is a little breakdown in case you are unfamiliar:

2016 (Season 1): Nominated 7 / Won 1

2017 (Season 2): Nominated 10 / Won 8

2018 (Season 3 & Second Film): Nominated 6 / Won 5

2020 (Season 4): Nominated 3 / Won 2

2021 (Season 5): Nominated 1 / Won 0

With the last two seasons being the build up and catalyst of the war, the pace was slower and brought in less accolades. They knew this. Just like they now know that if they want to bring those big numbers back onto the board, THIS season is finally their time to shine. THIS, season six, is what they were betting on when making seasons 4 and 5. If they wanna win that elusive Anime Of The Year award that always seemed to slip out of their grasp, they gotta go all out. So for those of you being positive, I say, who knows...maybe they won't pull their punches this time and will actually get us a knock out.

I think the fatui would benefit from more non-human appearances. Like why stop at the fluffy jacket with signora give her some antennae and a bit of neck fluff.

The creative liberty with Ajax, like hyv makes the rules they couldve decided he couldve mutated or sm while down there. Give him some whacky eye colour and skin discoloration.

Scaramouche could look a bit more formidable, give him a more mechanical look, like he's wearing armor. Put the inazuman symbol as his pupil.
