Once, her apartment had been her safe space. A getaway from the outside world, filled with her different favorite flowers and plants alike, more of a greenhouse than an apartment. Even on bad days, her connection to nature was always a soothing presence, and Maven could throw herself into the soil just to distract herself from any outside influences pressing upon her mind. When it was just her and nature, the warmth of a flower bud against her palm, growing out towards her as if her magic were sunlight, everything else could wait for a little while.

The warmth is gone.

It’s one of the first things she notices, upon finally returning to her place.

She’d stayed away for days, dazed and afraid, this new reality set upon her with a vicious lack of remorse or mercy. They made her feed, she remembers, dark and red and thick, coating her throat and she wanted more, more, more. And running for her life, with a speed that should not have been possible, never pausing to look back. Everything after that is more of a blur, maybe from shock, or her body still processing what happened, but she stayed away from the city. Out on the trails she used to love so much, felt so comfortable she could even run at night with no issue. Now there’s a body out there. Nearly ripped to shreds, like some wild animal attack. That’s what she is now, isn’t she? No better than an animal. There’s blood on her tank top, blood on her skin and blood underneath her fingernails that Maven’s not sure will ever come out.

She wonders how long it’ll take someone to find it.

She wonders if there’s anyone to miss them now that they’re gone.

Her apartment is dark, and quiet, and cold. It no longer feels like a home, not like it used to. Even as she flicks on the light switch, illuminating the space that’s jam-packed with the garden she pulled in from the balcony to protect them from the storm, but Maven can’t feel them, anymore. Any of them. A gift that’s always been with her, since she was old enough to understand what magic was, she’s known about her connection to nature. Took it for granted, maybe, thinking it’d always be there even when nothing else was. Now it’s like a limb has been cut off; she keeps trying to reach out with it, but nothing happens. No flames, no flowers, not even a spell a child could recite with ease. Nothing.

Maven walks over to one of her potted plants, sitting on a counter top. It’s already wilting from her time away, a finicky little thing that made a fuss whenever she shifted it a quarter inch further away from it’s light source. Keeping it maintained had once been a source of pride for the nature witch, a testament to both her natural skill and her connection to nature. But now when she sticks her fingers down in the soil, trying to coax it to come back to life and grow again, it’s just cold. And a new grief settles inside her chest. Everything she’s ever known, everything she’s ever cared about and liked about herself, it’s all gone. A vampire. Her new reality; funny, how some part of it didn’t seem to truly settle in until now.

( Not even when she tore through that person’s throat. )

A loud outcry of anger and agony breaks out from her lips, an overwhelming swell of emotions that crashes against her like a tidal wave. Faster than a blink, she has the plant in her hands and is hurling it at the wall. There’s a loud crash as the clay pot shatters, and a large dent is left in the wall while the broken pieces fall to the ground, as broken as Maven feels right now.

She slides to the ground, curling against her knees as she cries, deep and desperate. Alone. So, so alone. And Maven doesn’t know what to do. Helpless and hopeless, what a combination. She’s always prided herself on being able to take care of herself, being able to handle anything the world could throw at her. But not this. This is too much. They did this to her, made her like this, made her drink blood, and now she’s on her own, wishing she were just dead instead.

They should’ve just killed her. It would’ve been better.

Dr.STONE The Originals AU

Ok so here's my whose who for the Dr.STONE, The Originals AU idea i had.and please note it will be long also spoilers for The Originals

So first and for most I thought of Tsukasa being Elijah Mikaelson. Both are noble and stoic and would commit many crimes and kill people if it meant getting an end result they want, and they both care a lot about family.

I decided Kohaku would be Hayley Marshall. Tough girl whose soft underneath for those she cares about and has a lot of love for people, natural born leader and no one you want to fuck with. Plus Kohaku is very close and protective of Suika, the same way Hayley is very close and protective of her daughter Hope.

Now i decided Ryusui would be Klaus Mikaelson. I admit It was between him and Hyoga but this will make sense soon if you know me 😂😂. Anyways i decided Ryusui is Klaus because well bastard child, cares about his family and desires control. Now I know Klaus is a little more insane and murderous which isnt exactly Ryusui but next character will make sense as to why i picked him. Also it means in this AU that Ryusui and Kohaku will have a witch, werewolf, vampire tribred daughter and honestly that will be very chaotic. Also Ryusui being a vampire werewolf hybrid who can create more hybrids? Even more chaos

Now for it to make sense, i decided that Gen is Cami O'Connell. One because of the psychology stuff, but also im a big shipper of Klaus and Cami as well as a big RyuGen shipper. But also Cami could basically manipulate or find away to make a situation work out for her, the Mikaelson, and their allies. Which is basically Gen, and it also doesnt work out all the time for both. Also the idea of a murderous vampire werewolf hybrid Ryusui falling in love with a human Gen is just everything.

Ok so i decided that Homura would be Rebekah Mikaelson. Now can and will kill or hurt someone if needed, both just want love and we all know Homura is in love with Hyoga, and both are actually soft underneath and very caring.

Now I decided that Hyoga would be Marcel Gerard. Both willing to do anything to meet their goals, both have a hard time fully trusting people but the ones they do trust they trust with their lives. Also just the idea of Homura being a thousand year old vampire wanting true love and finding it in Hyoga whose also a vampire. Its beautiful.

Now this one i decided that Sai would be Finn Mikaelson. The oldest son, the oldest brother, the one who felt hurt and betrayed by his family only to realize he loved his family in the end. Though in this AU ill make sure he has a better ending then what we got in The Originals.

For Kol i had trouble deciding who would be him but for the purposes of this AU i decided that Mozu would be Kol Mikaelson. Reckless, intimidating, probably cant be trusted on a good day. Also the idea of Mozu as a vampire is just everything, especially an original vampire.

Now this one i figured Senku could technically be Freya Mikaelson. The one who was technically orphaned at a young age and then again a thousand years later. Powerful and not afraid to get their hands dirty. Plus the idea of Senku being a chaotic aroace warlock is everything. Yes i know Freya is canonically bisexual in The Originals but this is my AU and i say Senku is an aroace warlock who was kidnapped from his home as a kid and whose siblings turned into vampires. Now im gonna rework this specific plot more to fit in since the only similarities will be that they're both powerful thousand year old magic users who were taken from their family. But trust me it will make sense.

Ok so Ginro will be Josh Roza, gay, clumsy, brave when needed but also wanting to avoid trouble and not wanting to be involved with it, it'll also make sense with who i picked for Aiden. But we'll get to that later.

So for this one i had trouble picking but i guess if i had to pick id have Ukyo be Jackson Kenner. To be honest this was hard to decide, cause for Ukyo i could have picked him to be Vincent Griffith but that one will also make sense later. So instead i went with Jackson. Now yes Jackson doesnt mind killing but he doesnt want to kill, and he is insanely loyal, like Ukyo. Also the idea of Ukyo being an Alpha werewolf is pretty cool. Now in The Originals Jackson and Hayley parents planned an arranged marriage for them so their packs could unite once they were adults. That will still happen in this AU. Since Kohaku will be Hayley she will be last of her family so she will be an Alpha werewolf herself, and honestly i feel they would be a cute couple ngl.

Ok so i decided that Luna would be Davina Claire. Feisty, powerful, knows how to get what she wants. Davina was also a powerful witch and i can see this fitting Luna, this also means Luna and Mozu will be a couple in this AU so that shall be fun to write out. In The Originals Davina was originally part of this thing called the Harvest Ritual which was supposed to make her coven stronger, during the ritual her and 3 other girls were supposed to be sacrificed, the three others died while Davina was saved by Marcel, so naturally in this AU since Hyoga is Marcel he saves Luna from this ritual. Marcel also used Davinas power for his own advantage and naturally Hyoga will do the same.

Ok so i decided that Matsukaze would be Aiden. One cause i ship him and Ginro, two because Josh and Aiden were a couple in The Originals, three because the idea of Matsukaze as a werewolf in a forbidden romance with a vampire? Hell yes. Also he will have a better ending then what we got in season 2.

Ok so Chrome, i couldnt fully decide who he should be, but i suppose Will Kinney probably fits him best. In The Originals, Will is a detective thats trying to solve a serial killer case who gets mixed up in the supernatural world, honestly i really couldnt decided who Chrome should be so i just went with this pick, really its kind of just a random pick with no explanation. Im gonna have to rework Wills character a lot for this au tbh

Ruri is kind of in the same boat but i can see her as Eve. She is a member of Hayleys family and pack and given that Kohaku and Ruri are sisters i feel its fitting. She would be an untriggered werewolf since thats what Eve was in The Originals, in the series Eve also helped Hayley with her pregnancy and since Kohaku and Ryusui will have a child in this AU, seems fitting for Ruri to be Eve.

Now for Oliver, thats gonna be Magma, traitor who ended up regretting what he did and tries his best to redeem himself, I feel thats pretty fitting for Magma in this AU and not far off from canon, also Magma being a werewolf who also is a dick to Kohaku for growing up with Humans, just gonna be fun to write.

Ok so i figured why not make this AU even more complicated and have Xeno be Vincent Griffith. In The Originals, Vincent is a powerful witch whose body gets taken over by Finn Mikealson. Again will need to rework this a lot but basically in the show Vincent and Freya become friends then enemies then friends again, and if im having Senku as Freya then it seems fitting his enemy is Vincent.

For Eva Sinclair aka Vincents batshit crazy wife who is also a witch, it seems fitting its Stanley, no other reason.

ok so i havent decided who Mikael and Esther would be yet but this post is also getting to long so i guess thats for the best, ill be adding more later on as i think of more ideas.

per request (from a single person, that’s all it takes), my thoughts and feelings about...

the movie adaptation of Queen of the Damned! (buckle up motherfuckers because this is going to be a long thing)

Ok, so it’s pretty much universally known that the movie is... trash, despite the soundtrack being absolutely baller. Let’s examine why this movie is trash, shall we?

So, my first point of contention is that it was meant to combine 2 books. As I’m sure everyone knows, this movie and Interview with the Vampire are based on books from The Vampire Chronicles series by Anne Rice (which she’s still milking by putting out books nobody is asking for. Anne, girl. Stop. Please. You’ve killed it. It’s dead. Move on.) The book series goes Interview with the Vampire (Louis talking to a journalist or author, about his life and afterlife as lived by him), The Vampire Lestat (which is penned by the monster himself about his life and journey into immortality up into his rise to fame with his band, and the awakening of Akasha), Queen of the Damned (which is basically the concert and the aftermath), then is Tale of the Body Thief but after reading it once, I never went beyond Queen of the Damned ever again and that was when I was like 17.

Now the movie Queen of the Damned was meant to combine the second and third books, thereby skipping out on a TON of important information and background regarding Lestat’s motivations and behaviors. (Plus The Vampire Lestat is my favorite of the series. It’s a good fucking book, ok?) So in the movie, we see Akasha being awakened and ripping out her king’s throat with ZERO CONTEXT! Ok, not zero context, but absolutely not enough context to paint a full picture of wtf is going on. Same with his motivation behind joining the band or explaination of his attitude in Interview. (BTW at the end of Interview, he ISNT the one who turns Daniel, the author, into a vampire. It’s Armand.)

So yeah, lots of missing info that I feel is pretty necessary for the narrative to make sense. And I don’t mean that in the usual “omg they left this bit from the book out of the movie!!!” way. I mean it in a significant information for the storyline was just GONE causing the story to make significantly less sense.

Now let’s chat about that casting, boi!

I think we can all agree that the entire thing was acted pretty terribly, yeah?

great. so looking beyond that...

Let’s start with my main issue and that’s Lestat. So his casting in Interview wasn’t physically ideal, however Cruise did manage to capture the personality Lestat had for that novel. While Louis is ‘a whiner’ as a friend put it, because he can’t shed that humanity and the morals and softness of heart that comes with that, Lestat is much the opposite. In Interview, he has completely embraced the decadent, indulgent, ruthlessness of an immortal who has been around and seen some shit. You learn more about why in the second novel. Really, he sort of knew how to play the game from the start. Yes he still had a handful of human attachments, like Gabrielle and Nicholas, but he cut ties with pretty much everyone else outside of a proxy lawyer of sorts to manage his shit and be a point of contact almost immediately. Yeah, occasionally he displays a softness, some humanity, but it always fucks him over, so by the time he meets Louis he has learned that it isn’t the way to go.

Stuart Townsend had potential. Physically, absolutely nails it. Could have easily pulled of the ‘present day’ Lestat of the end of the second/third novel who is basically sick of all the vampire rules about keeping to the shadows and fronts a rock band to give all the other immortals the finger. HOWEVER, he acted it so fucking poorly that it physically hurt. It was like he latched onto the fact that Lestat is indisputably attractive and vampires are generally seen as sensual creatures, then turned that shit up to 1000 and turned it into a caricature. Look at his movement. God the faces he pulls. Christ on a cracker.

Then there’s the ‘singing’. So when an actor lip syncs in a movie, unless the voice of the actual vocalist is super distinctive and recognizable (looking at you Jon Davis. Also on that subject, Jon get your shit together. fucksake. clean it up bro. you didn’t invent dubstep, come off it already. nobody buys it and you’ve become a joke.), you shouldn’t be able to tell that the actor isn’t the one singing. In this movie, there is an OBVIOUS disconnect between the song/voice and the actor. His body language and facial expression NEVER ONCE align with the fucking vocals that we are meant to believe are coming from him. Genuinely, and I say this in all seriousness, the worst lip sync I’ve seen on RuPaul’s Drag Race was a fucking tour de force compared to what Townsend gave us in this abomination. How was there not a point during the shoot where someone stepped in and said, “You know, maybe we should get him some lessons and practice doing a proper lip sync...” HOW DID THAT SLIP THROUGH THE CRACKS Y’ALL??? Him singing is a (if not THE) main plot point!!!! Fuck!

Casting for everyone else? Ok. Not well acted but nothing was so... whatevs? But on the subject of casting, in Interview, as much as he looked like walking sex as vampire Antonio Banderas was, he didn’t fit the description of Armand in any of those first 3 books. When Lastat first meets him (long before Louis was a thing), he’s described in such a way that it seems he was turned as a young man, not an adult. He was described as looking beautiful and innocent (I think the phrase ‘cherub like face’ was used?) which are not words I would attribute to Mr. Banderas. (No offence to the man, because again... absolute walking sex with pointy teeth in that movie.)

Another thing that really bugs me is the secondary plot with Jessie and the talamasca was, again, missing almost all relevant information! like... honestly if they were going to do it the way they did, they should have just left it the fuck out. you don’t get any sort of information about who the vampires in the house are and how they relate to Jessie, aside from some vague b.s. Jessie was already a vampire at the damned concert, having been turned by one of the vampires associated with the vampire lady she was descended from who turned to marble at the end, becoming the new Akasha basically. They didn’t explain anything about elders or ancients and the entire power structure/hierarcy within the vampires.

they just took those 2 books, smashed them together haphazardly, left out FUCK TONS of pretty relevant information, then went “oh here’s a dope soundtrack. hope that is enough to carry this dumpster fire of an abomination that has stuff happen but doesn’t explain shit!!! Enjoy kids!”

UGH.

ok i’m done. but angry. so i’m going to go paint or hassle J into bringing me a dremel to sand his fucking dragon sculpture. thank you for coming to this episode of Dr. M Rants.

elfen lied manga was such a fuckin trip. did i dream that shit up ? who allowed the dude who made that to just write all that shit??

i need to talk about elfen lied because this shit has been living rent free in my head for over an actual decade. significantly longer than a decade.

im glad that i can now accept that media i consume doesnt necessarily say anything about me, because. jesus, every inch of elfen lied is a war crime. every panel.

the coolest character who was generic tough military dude, who right when you meet him makes a point of punching a secretary just for standing behind him. and then goes out to find and kill a 17 year old with abandonment issues. and gets his shit kicked in and his arm ripped off and his eyes plucked out. and so, naturally, he trades his testicles for some dope robot eyes. for the sake of all humanity. oh and a really mediocre robot arm that he can actually break if he puts too much force into like anything. and so naturally he then finds a 14 year old homeless girl, who helped him while he was bleeding out on the beach. and of course he beats her up and, possibly kicks her dog. and then he gives her his number. uh, so he can come help her if anyone tries to... beat her up? because he cant owe her anything. and then she says something he doesnt like so he beats her up again and she shows him the paper he wrote his number on and says "someone scary is screwing with me". he storms off after that but doesnt take the paper, he still owes her. he makes good on it too, she gets in some bad trouble with a bad bad dude later. a bad bad dude with a trenchcoat whos basically just a vampire hunter, crossbow included but actually he's here to hunt teenage girls with horns, not fangs. the crossbow shoots hard metal balls with velcro spikes that have a toxin on them that causes excrutiating pain. this guys a bad bad dude, and he miiiiiight be suggesting he's gonna rape this 14 year old girl but it could be the unfairthful translation causing confusion. probably not tho the author of this series is majorly fucked in the head. anyway robocop shows up and he puts his boot right down this dudes throat so thats like whatever. that panel was my desktop wallpaper for like 6 years. we find out that 17 year old girl is evil because some kids killed her dog with a vase. so she blew them up, and after that she goes around blowing people up just to eat the food in their fridge and hang around the crib for a minute. so shes framed as the good guy and robocop is evil this time and they fight again and she does kill robocop this time which sucks because theres a good portion of manga left and no one else is as interesting as he is. he dies on the beach where he lost his eyes and his arm and lets be honest he basically lost his balls at the same time.

oh. and theres a girl who does peepee in her diaper a lot. and she can sing. i dont know why she was there but i mean every other fetish the author had already made a fucking appearance so why not lmao

theres also like. some main characters. theyre complete shit. these include a normal boy. his cousin who is the most annoying character in the fucking world. she is literally just "im only here to pad the amount of love interests our generic main character can have all at once" the character. yeah man, his cousin? cause shit why not. why not, its japan, do as the romans do. also theres the alternate personality of the 17 year old. shes only here so that evil 17 year old girl can be a love interest not once but twice, and i mean, conveniently shes often naked. makes sense, when the only word you can say is "milk".

and then there's Nana. Nana is a quad amputee after evil 17 year old girl ripped all her limbs off and almost finished her off. but dont worry! her dad, whos not her dad at all, finds her and he gives her some prosthetics that she can control with her super powers. what do you mean you werent aware of the super powers? of course they have super powers. its manga. after he does this he just lets her loose with a bunch of money and his tie because she asked very politely for the dangly thing he wears on his neck. she wears it like a headband, even though she established she knew it went around his neck. so yeah he gave her money but she was raised in a lab like a rat so she has no clue what its for. she meets the 14 year old homeless girl and they have a fun time being homeless together. Nana burns the money in a fire to keep warm but only some of it because the 14 year old girl tells her that you can trade money for food, which makes nana very happy because boy did she want some of the 99 cent street vendor food earlier. no one acknowledges that nana has enough money to buy her own house and be well off for easily 5 years. 14 year old girl takes her to the main character house that shes been staying at for a while and they have a bath. nana hated this idea until she realized that bath doesnt mean bucket of cold water at her new sort of house. but uh oh, nana senses evil 17 year old and shes kinda pissed about her arms and legs. they almost do a fight but wait whats this? 17 year old isnt fighting back, she just keeps saying "milk" and smiling. nana takes some issue with this and promptly leaves after pushing her through a rice paper door. shortly after everyone goes looking for nana.

um some stuff happens and then whaaaattt??? nanas not dads real daughter is introduced. shes locked in a circular room lined with lead and chloride of lime. with a diameter of 15 meters, the length of her invisible hands. shes only ever had the voice of a single woman to comfort her, shes permanently lockdd in bondage gear unable to move. she has to use a wheelchair to move because her legs have completely atrophied. she moves it with her invisible hands, her real ones are useless. she calls the only voice she knows her mother. her mothers job has been to talk to and comfort this dangerous girl for years. said mother mentions her excitement to finally see the girl in person, and also casually drops how theyve sewn bombs into several parts of her body. conveniently, if shes in intense pain her powers dont work. so she meets her mom, takes one look at her and says "youre not my mom >:(" and sends her entire upper torso flying. conveniently said torso lands near the bomb controls. she slams that shit like shes a rat with an orgasm button and babygirls arm go bye bye. they inform her while she writhes in pain that she has to comply with their demands or they can blow her whole deal up next time. shes pretty ok with being blown up, but then they tell her they want her to kill something so her ears perk up like a cat hearing a can opener. yep shes going to go kill evil 17 year old. nanas not dad is not taking any of this well but he essentially gets mindbroken after he has to blow up his daughter later after shit flies off the handle. he spends his time as a homeless man, denoted by the sudden appeaeance of a large beard, living in a shack on the beach where robocop died. he does note the beach is incredibly clean and that is because robocop picked up allllllll the trash so that evil 17 year old couldnt throw it at him. he did totally eat shit anyway though no worries. im not bitter about it why should you be? im not.

anyway shit happens and 17 year old melts into a really graphic puddle of fleshy goo, and in doing so totally does the jesus thing. because at some point she realized she really just wanted to be with main character, but all of the things shes done makes that impossible.

i was like maybe 12 when i read this shit. i didnt reread it for this. im pretty sure most of this is accurate but i CAN and WILL promise you one thing. diaper girl is real, and he REALLY really really really 100% did trade his balls for robot eyes, and a playdough robot arm.

inspired by tarzan, but i changed the story cause i made these characters when i was younger and i cant abandon them. meriam raised talia (i changed her name) when she decided to leave london and live in the jungle. talia barely speaks because her speech isnt good. mark comes to visit his mother and to try and see if the island can be used for good money, mark and talia hate each other for this fact.

I woke up the next day in my coffin. But you fould see that there was pink pant underneath the black pant. And there were pastors of poser bands everywhere, like Ashlee Simpson and the Backstreet Boys. “WTF!” I shouted going to sit next to Lotte Gothic Night’fall 666 and Barbara. L’Ote Gothic Nightfall 666 was wearing a black leather mini with a Good Chraloote t-shirt, black fishnets and black pointy boots. Diana was wearing a black MCR t-shirt and blak jeans and a leather jacket. She looked just likee Gerard Way, and almost as fucking sexy. Vampire looked like Joel Madden. B’loody Lotte Nightf’all 666 was wearing a tight black poofy gothic dress that she had ripped so it showed of all her clearage with a white apron that said ‘bich’ and other swear words and MCR lyrics on it kind of like one dress I had seen Amy Lee wear once. Darkness (who is Avery) was there too. She was weaving a ripped gothic black dress with ripped stuff all over it and a lace-up top thing and black pointy boots. So were Hannah and Wangari. It turns out that Darkness, Diabolo, Hannahs and Wangaru’s dad was a vampire. He committed suicide by slitting his wrists with a razor. He had raped them and stuff before too. Finnelam was there too. “THIS CANNOT BE!” she shouted angrily. “THE SCHOOL MUST BE CLOSED!” “PAUL IS PLANNING TO KILL THE STUDENTS!” yelled Fafrnir. “YOU ARE NOT FIT TO BE THE PRINCIPAL ANY LONGER!” yelled Finnelan. “YOU ARE TOO OLD AND YOUR ALZHEIMERS IS DANGEROUS! YOU MUST RETRY OR PAUL WILL KILL YOUR STUDENTS!” “Very well.” Holbrooke said angrily. “Butt we cannot do this. We can’t close the school. There is only one person who is capable of killing Paul and she is in the school. The reason why Taehyung would have moved out of view is because he would have wanted her to see only herself without seeing him in her field of vision ^^
