Astarion is so funny if you’re good at using him in your party

Astarion: I’m so weak and need to be protected the only thing I’m good for is sex I’m so helpless

Also Astarion: one shot sniping half the enemies, single handedly taking out the bosses by doing 50 plus critical damage, barley takes any damage while the rest of the party is stumbling back to camp with 2 hp, has the best mobility to help pick everyone up when they’re downed, not to mention gutting everyone with duel wielded daggers and short swords, can take like 50 actions in a turn.

Been thinking about Cazador lately. We know from the Lady Incognita lore that the Szarr family seems to have some kind of weird coming-of-age ritual where they’re turned to vampires whether they want to be or not. We know Vellioth was an even crueller master than Cazador became. Were they related too?

Was Cazador’s creepy obsession with insisting the spawn were siblings his fucked up way of coping with his own screwed up family dynamic? Was he forcing them to play act his fantasy of a family who loved and cherished him the way his real family never had, couldn’t have?

He almost certainly considered himself a kinder master than Vellioth was. I think in some twisted, narcissistic way he thought he did love his spawn — the same way sometimes an abused, damaged parent may try to love their child but with no healthy model to draw from, they end up growing into their abuser instead.

It’s hard to have a ton of sympathy for Cazador. But I do see the shadow of someone I could have sympathy for inside of him. Evil is made, not born, after all.

Hm... happy Wyll headcanons... I have a Wyllstarion one. Because I killed Cazador very early into Act III, for a huge chunk of my game time, Origin Wyll and Astarion were a really sweet couple despite how terrible everything that was happening to Wyll was. So I thought of a conversation they could have that goes like: "Astarion, I realized my love for you is not an orchestra in my heart, but instead the sound of birds singing in the background wherever the path takes me." "Gods, you're an infant." "Ha! Then why don't I offer you the challenge to say how it makes you feel?" "I feel safe with you, and seen." And then Wyll blushes at that and Astarion puts his hands on Wyll's warm cheeks lol

This is especially darling since Wyll's dialogue at the end of the dryad trial is him marvelling at his partner because, "You know me. You understand me. And I'm forever grateful." Sometimes it's the fundamentals, ya know? 😭

Honestly, Astarion's final romanced graveyard conversation would devastate Wyll in the best way - it would fortify him to know his love feels seen, safe and respected by his side, that he appreciates and wants to reflect back all the love and devotion Wyll's been pouring into him the whole game.
