Is it just me or is this an artist thing that every time I have to watch one of those poorly animated videos that is supposed to teach you something for school or for well actually I’m mainly thinking about this bc my cbit therapist made watch this dumb breathing excersize video like girl I know how to breath I’ve been in therapy for other stuff for years I don’t need to learn it again. Day 6 A: Really the only things that make my tics better are CBIT and staying at home because it's less stressful. Other than that, my tics kind of do whatever tf they want. When I was younger, I would write poetry as an outlet for my mental health.

Hey! You probably don’t care but im an older asker (the girl who developed tics at 17 and was diagnosed w FND) and I just thought id give a small update. its been over 3 years now and I never developed any other symptoms, diagnosis on paper is Tic disorder now (but im pretty sure thats only because they dont have a way to put in FND in their system), I stopped going to that neurologist because we both agreed they werent helping me, and now im just living my life and no one really bothers me about it even though I occasionally get looks on the street :)

Hello there! I definitely care, so thank you for updating with me!

Most cases (all of them actually, in my personal opinion) of FND that present only with tics symptoms are generally a tic disorder or tourettes syndrome that a doctor has refused to diagnose as a such simply bc the patient is AFAB and a teenager. So truthfully, if ticcing is your only symptom, I'd be jumping for joy at the tic disorder diagnoses :D

And your experience is unfortunately quite normal; once a neurologist diagnoses TS or a tic disorder, really the only thing they can do is refer to a therapist who practices CBIT or to refer for therapy to address the other symptoms and disorders that go along with tic disorders and TS. So far, this is the best available to patients like us- but hopefully that will change as more research comes!
