Disney Review Request :Treasure Planet
Tumblr media
Requested by @ariel-seagull-wings ,this is the film that inspired the request idea .We were talking about Treasure Island in general and they asked my opinion on this film and I just shrugged and asked if they would like me to just review it and they said yes
A sci fi take on the classic novel Treasure Island, and the basic plot is the same :Jim Hawkins (Joseph Gordon Levitt ) is the son of an inkeeper and get in his posession a map to treasure from a dying Billy Bones ( PAtrick Mcgoohan ) and with the help of a family friend goes on a voyage , and strikes a friendship with the one legged John Silver (Brian Murray ) but finds out he is a treacherous pirate who is leading a mutiny for he wants the treasure .
However there are changes ,the main one is the story is in space with aliens and robots and such, with sci fi changes like Silver is an alien Cyborg ,really most of the characters are aliens with the exception of Jim (Which I love, perfect for an animated sci fi film ) , the cleverst change is the parrot is now a shapeshifter and the marroned half mad Ben Gunn is now a robot voiced by Martin Short .There are other very big changes which makes this a very unique take on the Treasure Island story .Many characters are changed or combined ,Doctor Livesey and Squire Trelawney are combined into the dog like alien Doctor Doppler voiced by David Hyde Pierce ,The stern Captain Smollet becomes the female and feline alien Captain Amelia voiced by Emma Thompson ,the drunkard Captain Arrow basically become the same character he was in the Muppet version where he is the stern very serious character and is voiced by Roscoe Lee Brown ,the trecherous pirate George Merry and the murderous pirate Isreal Hands are combined into the spider like Mr Scroop voiced by Michael Wincott (There is a character in the film named Hands but he is a minor player ,and his role is given to Scroop as the pirate Jim fights when back on the ship ) ,and the biggest changes are the biggest being Jim and Silver.....But I will save that for later
OK I have talked about the changes, what d9o I think of it as a movie ....I think it is damn good . I think it does what an reinvention of a story should do ,it uses the story as a template but expands or changes stuff when necesary .As a fan of the source material and other adaptations It does bum me that some parts are left out ,especially Blind Pew ,but I do appreciate it keeps some great moments from the book
The film looks amazing with a good mix of CG and 2D.John Silver is especially breath taking being a mix of 2D but with CG components, specifically his mechanical limbs and eyes .Also little character stuff I really enjoyed in the animation like Amelias eyes dilate like a cats .Also the character design here ,the aliens all look so unique ,and I love how weird Silvers crew looks
The voice cast is all spot on ,Emma Thompson makes for a rather badass captain , PAtrick Mcgoohan (In his final role ) nails that salty seadog flare ,LAurie Metcalf is perfect as the concerned mother , I always love David Hyde Pierce ,Roscoe Lee Browne brigns such a dignity to Arrow , and Michael Wincott IS TERRIFYING as Scroop,he has a very gravely voice, its exactly what I imagine a spider would sound like (For the record SCroop is so underrated ,I find him horrifying. I dont know if he even ewants treasure ,he seems to just be in it for murder .He's also there so we have a "Boo and hiss" villain in contrast to Silver )
The best part of the film is the almost father and son relationship between Jim and Silver .Now this isnt the only version to have this element ,but I think this is the most heartwarming .Jim in this version is a broody teen whose father abandoned him and his mother and he develops a bond with Silver ,which makes when he finds out about Silvers villainy more heartbreaking. This might be the most sympathetic Silver ,here a pirate who has given up everything in pursuit of his dream to find Flints Trove ,and here truly likes Jim .In other version it is vague how much Silver actually cares about Jim ,but in this version it is so clear he cares about him .I also like that he still is the main antagonist but he's a villain we like and has layers ,he might be Disneys most interesting villain .Also my favorite scene in the film is the montage showing them bonding set to the Goo Goo Dolls "Im Still Here " it is such a sweet scene
AND NOW QUESTION TIME .Our requester wanted me to discuss three specific points
1. Would you prefer more focus could be given to other characters instead of the drama between Jim and Silver?
Me:No,because they are the main characters .For me Treasure Islands focus should be Jim and Silver and this is one of the most interesting takes on Jim and Silver
2. What do you think of the comic relief of Morph, Doppler and the Marooned Robot?
Me: Morph is a clever concept and is adorable .I reallly like Doppler, again I love David Hyde Pierce and I find him hilarious ,he gets some of the best lines.BEN....is alot .I dont hate him,Martin Shorts given his all and the animation on him is good and I think he is a clever play on the Ben Gunn from the book ,but he is very loud, kind of obnoxious and his jokes are so hit and miss (though I cant decide if "Was I ever dancing with an android named Lupe !!!???" is stupid or brillaint,it does make me laugh )
3. Toughts on the mix between the 18th century with the future?
Me: I love it . I like the mix of aesthetics.I think it looks awesome
OVerall I think its a film that has a cult following for a reason.I love it beck in 2002,love it now

Today I showed LN and Hannah their first episode of Sailor Moon (Barbara was uninterested and opted to watch the Garfield movie in another room - I think the CG one with Bill Murray's voice).
They both thought it was really, really cool!
So I think the younger generation might be all right.

thinking about the fact that i really got fucked over when it comes to my canon compared to like actual canon. i was stuck with the Contessa for so fucking long and she fucking liked me and it was gross. at least in canon she just stuck me in The Hole which like yeah that sucks but it's better than being dolly. ugh. and then bison and the fight with murray and the mask and like that's not even talking about what happened BEFORE the klaww gang.
sigh. well, it all turned out ok (and i didnt fake amnesia to go date Carmelita, what, i would Not do that?? like game me barely told the CG that he was alive. What.)
i was here! sly cooper 💎 fictive of the #nw💫

I have made the rant a bunch of times that the Garfield Movie would have been better if they just used a real cat and made Bill Murray’s voice his inner thoughts. And every time I do a concerning amount of people are like “yeah but using real animals is expensive” and I want to remind you all that Garfield was the only CG animal in the movie. They did use real animals. They used a lot of different real animals! They just decided Garfield needed to be a CG abomination. Not even Odie was CG, just Garfield. Literally they could have been lazier about how they made this movie and it would have made it a painless movie.
THEY CHOSE PAIN!

The Next Animated Blockbuster Heavies, CONTINUED...
A little while ago, I made this post. A sort of culmination to my retrospective on Top 10 animated features at the box office over the years...
Three of the movies I listed and made predictions for, all 2023 movies, came out...
THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE unsurprisingly put up a hell of a fight, making $1.361 billion at the worldwide box office. This places it, currently, at #3. Behind THE LION KING (2019) and FROZEN II...
SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE opened pretty big, and had some solid legs from there, but that picture was definitely more frontloaded than MARIO was. Overseas, it did okay at best, not matching its domestic total. Still, $690m+, excellent.
WISH is not going to make all that much... Not the heavy it could've been, like director Chris Buck's two FROZEN movies...
So, 2023 is pretty much over, unless MIGRATION really surprises. But I don't see that happening. $500-600m maximum, methinks. Possibly SING numbers. A leggy Christmas season movie, but not among the biggest ever. Why would I expect that out of a modest duck picture?
Some delays happened, too, between back then (early 2023) and now.
KUNG FU PANDA 4, INSIDE OUT 2, and DESPICABLE ME 4 are next, as BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE was delayed indefinitely due to it being faaaar from ready for a 3/29/2024 release a little after the release of ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE. Like, it was very clear that the two movies were NOT in production in tandem.
My guess is that the third SPIDER-VERSE movie debuts sometime in 2025. At the earliest... 2026 seems likelier now, which is fair. We waited about 4 1/2 years between INTO and ACROSS, so...
The other 2024 movie that I thought had a shot at getting into the Top 10 is the sequel/prequel to the #1 movie itself, THE LION KING (2019). MUFASA: THE LION KING recently vacated the summer for the holidays, as it now opens December 20, 2024... While I don't really see this movie making anywhere near what the first one did, it's still possible? Maybe? I dunno, I think it performs similarly to ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS and MALEFICENT 2, a follow-up to a remake that I don't think too many folks were clamoring for.
Tumblr media
That rounds out 2024... I think INSIDE OUT 2 is the likeliest candidate of those four movies to make the most moolah. Maybe not take home "highest earning animated movie" champion status, but the biggest of the year period... and DESPICABLE ME 4 has a very good shot at it considering how many years it had been since the last mainline movie, and how well MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU did. Heck, the long gap between KUNG FU PANDA 3 and 4 could really boost KUNG FU PANDA 4 as well. Characters/stories people love, long wait for the new one, the kids who loved them being nostalgic, etc.
Who knows, like I said in the earlier piece, maybe there will be some surprises along the way? Watch, THE GARFIELD MOVIE ends up breaking the Top 10... I mean, I don't see why not? Garfield is a god, a titan whose power we just cannot comprehend. This may be to the 2004 live-action/CG GARFIELD movie with Bill Murray what the SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE was to the 1993 SUPER MARIO BROS. film. Certainly having "The Movie" in the title and the picture being all-animated solidifies that! GARFIELD the comic strip debuted in 1978, 45 years ago. That predates Mario's first appearance as "Jumpman" in DONKEY KONG by three years... You could argue Garfield is older than that, even. Jim Davis debuted Garfield in JON, essentially an early version of GARFIELD that run from 1976 to early 1978 in a single Indiana newspaper. Okay, so I'm largely being facetious here, I don't think THE GARFIELD MOVIE cracks a billion... But who the heck knows! A movie like THE WILD ROBOT or the next WDAS movie could do it, haha.
However, I think a lot of the Q3 and Q4 animated films could be up in the air, release date-wise, should the animation strike happen when the Animation Guild contract is up.
2025 is a little spottier. A few movies have concrete release dates, none of them I feel really have a clear shot at the big billion and the Top 10. 2026 is just some dates without titles. Still too early in the game...
So, we do know that the likes of SHREK 5, ZOOTOPIA 2, FROZEN III, and TOY STORY 5 are on the horizon. Entries in beloved franchises, some of which whose movies are on the Top 10 or are very close to the Top 10. It's also obvious that a SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE sequel *will* happen, and possibly just obliterate the first one in sales.
THE LION KING (2019) is at #1, FROZEN II is #2, FROZEN is #4. The first MINIONS is #6, TOY STORY 4 is #7, TOY STORY 3 is #8, DESPICABLE ME 3 is #9, ZOOTOPIA is #11...
FINDING DORY is at #10, and there seem to be no plans for another one of those Pixar fish movies at the moment. Ditto THE INCREDIBLES, as INCREDIBLES 2 is #5... But you just know they'll happen, because Disney likes money, and if TOY STORY 5 can exist despite how both 3 & 4 ended... Yeah, there will be a FINDING Somebody 3 movie and an INCREDIBLES 3, and they're sure to tear up the box office.
But again, something that isn't a sequel to a beloved favorite could make a splash. After all, Walt Disney Animation Studios got the big billion out of FROZEN and ZOOTOPIA individually. Both movies were not expected to do anywhere near as well as they did. I remember, back in mid-to-late 2013, that the scuttlebutt was that FROZEN would be lucky to make TANGLED numbers... And that ZOOTOPIA looked like some "CHICKEN LITTLE/DreamWorks" thing.
Sometimes Pixar got close with a not-sequel. FINDING NEMO back in 2003 - without the aid of 3D/IMAX/premium formats and with much lower tickets prices compared to now and a smaller international market - nearly made $870m on its initial run. INSIDE OUT and COCO were big 800s, too. Most Pixar originals hover around $600-750m on a good day. The likes of THE INCREDIBLES, RATATOUILLE, and UP. You know.
Outside of Disney and Pixar, you've got Illumination, whose biggest original movie was THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS, which made over $800m worldwide. No original since got there, though SING did pretty great for itself. I'm not sure where MIGRATION can land, but who knows. Is the public gung-ho for funny ducks at the moment? You can never guess where the zeitgeist will be. Only when the movie comes out, you find out.
DreamWorks' highest-earning not-sequel movie is KUNG FU PANDA, which made over $630m worldwide back in 2008. No 3D, no IMAX, lower ticket prices, adjusts to something a lot bigger today I reckon. Behind that is THE CROODS, which made $580m+ in 2013, and then MADAGASCAR, which made $530m+ in 2005, and then THE BOSS BABY made $520m+ in 2017. Nothing after BOSS BABY did that kind of money: Not ABOMINABLE, and certainly not the post-Omicron BAD GUYS. Maybe THE WILD ROBOT, from Chris Sanders - who directed THE CROODS and HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON as you likely already know, becomes the studio's next big not-sequel smash hit.
Sony Animation's biggest not-sequel was THE SMURFS with $560m+. INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE, for an all-animated film, is second at $380m+. No original movies are on their theatrical slate at the moment. FIXED is finished and rated by the MPA, but is without a release date nor any indication of where it'll play: Streaming or theaters? K-POP DEMON HUNTERS is to be a Netflix release. Everything else, like BUBBLE, TUT, TAO, etc.? Up in the air.
Paramount Animation, can't say. All of their not-sequels went belly-up or got re-routed to streaming/VOD: THE LITTLE PRINCE got offloaded to Netflix, WONDER PARK bombed hard in 2019, RUMBLE, UNDER THE BOARDWALK and THE TIGER'S APPRENTICE all skipped a wide theatrical release. No not-sequel movie has a release date, the only things close to that are still parts of franchises: TRANSFORMERS ONE, THE SMURF MOVIE, the untitled AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER movie, etc.
So, we gotta see where everything's at by the middle of next year... But I'll be curious to see how KUNG FU PANDA 4, THE GARFIELD MOVIE, INSIDE OUT 2, and DESPICABLE ME 4 - the movies that I think are guaranteed to meet their release dates - will do.

The Terminator(1984) - dir. James Cameron

little!will play date with little!steve and babysitter joyce? i seen something kind of similar i think and i really think your writing would go great with that plot!
“Green please?” Will asked, holding out his hand for Steve to give him the green crayon. The boys were laying on the floor, Will drawing, Steve coloring. Even if the headset of a four year old, Will was a very talented artist. Steve however, was struggling to do even simple coloring pages at the same mental age.
“Kids! We’re home!” Joyce called as her & Murray walked through the door. She was surprised by what she saw. She was expecting to see Will & Jane watching TV and Jonathan to be blasting music in his room with that Argyle boy. Instead, though, she saw Will and Steve drawing together while laying on the carpet, pacifiers in their mouths, some kids show on the tv.
She was confused but found it cute. As soon as Steve saw them, he spit the pacifier out of his mouth and quickly sat up. He flipped the coloring sheet over, dropped his crayons, and tried to look as normal as he could, despite the tears stinging in his eyes. She looked away in an attempt to conceal her perplexed face, Murray, however, looked completely unphased.
They walked into the kitchen & started unpacking the groceries. “What’s with your face?” Murray questioned. “Steve just didn’t strike me as… you know.” She replied. “A regressor? That kid’s been through hell and from what I’ve heard the Harringtons aren’t quite a loving family. Poor kid need’s some parental love.”
Joyce put the groceries away as Murray walked back into the living room. He crouched next to Steve and picked up the abandoned pacifier. “Drop something, bud?” Steve looked confused as the man cleaned it with a wet wipe. “What’s wrong?” Murray asked as he handed the pacifier to him. “I was scared you were gonna be mad…” The boy mumbled. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you, little one.” He wiped the tears from the little boy’s face and ruffled his hair, chuckling at the whine & annoyed fixing he got in response.
“And how are you, kiddo?” He said, turning to Will. Will wasn’t feeling the most talkative so he proudly showed his drawing to the man. “Such a pretty dragon!” Will giggled at him and removed his pacifier. “It’s not a dragon! Is a wyvern! See? It only has two legs!” Murray chuckled and apologized for his mistake before heading back to the kitchen.
“They’re ok with it?” Steve asked Will, shocked. Will nodded as he kept drawing. “I started accidentally regressing in the upside down and couldn’t stop when i got back. Then, uncle Murray came and he said it was healthy and helped me & mama with it.” He explained. “Wow… If my parents found out, I’d be living with Eddie full time…”
Will noticed the poor boy’s tone and grabbed his favorite stuffie from the couch and handed it to Steve. It was a black bat with a red ‘S + E’ stitched in a heart on the wing. He hugged it closely and placed his pacifier back into his mouth. He happily returned to his coloring.
Murray began cooking dinner for their family. Joyce played with the boys, attempting to beat Steve at a competition in drawing wyverns. She immediately lost despite her drawing being better. Will, being the judge picked Steve’s drawing due to the fact that he drew a wyvern and Joyce drew a dragon.
“Ms byers?” Steve quietly asked. “Call me Joyce, sweetie.” Steve nodded. “Ok, Joyce, can i stay for dinner? My parents aren’t home and Eddie has a show tonight and i cant really cook when im small.” He began rambling, worried she’d be upset at him. “Honey, hush, of course you can stay for dinner.” She smiled.
The 3 of them played for the rest of the evening. “Can you boys set the table?” Murray asked, as he removed his apron. The boys nodded and ran to the kitchen. They set the table, mostly correctly, and happily waited in their seats. Murray carried in a steaming lasagna, Joyce behind him with two sippy cups of juice in hand. “Here you go, boys.” She said as she set them in front of the boys. “Thank you, Joyce!” “Thanks, mama!” The boys said in unison.
Murray served the lasagna and filled their water glasses. They all happily ate dinner, Steve and Will giggling & joking to each other while the adults talked.
Steve finished his lasagna and picked up his water, he didn’t expect how heavy the glass would be and accidentally dropped it. The glass shattered. Steve immediately began sobbing and profusely apologizing, the scared boy was barely breathing.
He attempted to pick up the glass with his bare hands and accidentally cut his palm. As soon as the glass broke, Murray had run to the closet to grab what was needed to clean up the glass. When Joyce saw the boy’s hand, she rushed to get him to the kitchen.
She picked out any debris, ran his hand under water, disinfected it, and bandaged it. She kissed the large sesame street bandaid and walked him to the couch, unfortunately, she couldn’t carry him but will had made his way to the living room to avoid the glass which made him feel better.
“You ok, Stevie?” Will asked, playing with Steve’s fingers, careful not to disturb the wound. Steve nodded as Joyce sat on the couch, allowing the boys to cuddle up to her. “Sweet boys.” She said, rubbing soft circles into their backs. “Thank you, Joyce.” Steve mumbled as his eyelids grew heavy. “Any time, little one.”

Cg!murray walking in on will regressed and he’s confused but takes care of him anyway bc maybe hes read something about age regression and talks to him about it when he’s feeling older?
Murray was at the Byers house making dinner for them again, Joyce was out running some errands and asked Murray to watch the kids. After what happened last time she didn't trust Jonathan.
Murray looks up as he hears the door slam and sees Jonathans coat is missing, Murray sighs as he hears Argyles van speeding away and turns the stove off.
"Hey kid! dinners ready!" Murray calls out to Will, he gets no answer.
Murray sighs again as he climbs the stairs to Wills room.
He stops in front of the door, he can hear soft music and giggles coming from inside.
He knocks lightly on the door but again receives no answer.
He slowly opens the door to see Will sitting on the rug in his room, he was drawing with crayons in one of his notebooks with an elephant stuffie next to him and a teether hanging out of his mouth.
"Uhh hey kid?" Murray feels a bit awkward at seeing Will in this state, he seems so vulnerable.
Wills head whipped around and he dropped the teether, he started to tear up as he saw Murray standing in the doorway.
"Oh come on kid don't cry" Murray said a bit awkwardly stepping into Wills room.
"Please don't cry" Murray crouched next to Will, he could see what Will was drawing.
"That's a nice dragon you drew" Murray commented trying to distract Will.
Will looked up at him in confusion.
"'ou no t'ink 'n we'rd?" Will asked tears slowing.
"No no of course i don't" Murray shook his head.
"You've been through a lot and if this helps it helps" Will smiled at Murray his tears dry.
"Now let's get you some dinner" Murray said as he stood up, Will standing up too and grabbing his hand.
"I made chicken with asparagus and mashed potatoes but I'm not sure if that's something a little guy like you would want right now" Murray led Will into the kitchen.
"Can have pea'ut butter san'wich p'ease?"
"Of course"

My predictions for S4V2:
El breaks up with Mike in person and for good
the Upside Down breaches the Rightside Up Hawkins. Hoping for a cool CG sequence where all the muck and vines from the UD crawl up and cover the town
Jason comes close to killing either a supporting or main character
Murray dies in Russia
Vicky reappears and someone other than Steve is going to notice Robin's crush on her
Will's painting will be revealed
There will be a scene where Mike finally realizes Will is in love with him and Mike's feelings will be left ambiguous (edit: i think it might also be possible that Mike only just starts wondering if Will is in love with him, not anything definitive)
But then! another scene further along will hint that Mike might feel the same way
Argyle is going to get someone from Hawkins high
There will be a scene with Argyle contemplating on dropping off Jonathan and co. at Hawkins (or maybe earlier in the trip) and promptly booking it but something will convince him to stay and help
Argyle will not die. this season. maybe. (actually i think it's also pretty likely he'll go the way of Alexei. just suddenly offed. my expectation depends if he mentions he has family in Cali. yes family: survives. no family: dies)
the Pizza van will survive
Vecna attempts to go back to the Rightside Up
Jonathan and Nancy have an emotional talk
We do NOT find out this season how Will survived in the Upside Down. what we do find out is why the UD seems to be stuck on the day he disappeared
The significance of setting S4 during late March is revealed (this is mostly for my sake because i need to know why this time especially is important enough to "invalidate" Will's canon birthday)
Mike hugs Will properly
EDIT (shit i forgot an important one) : El and Hopper reunite and I cry buckets

It's a golden party here with our #Hamsterofthemonth winners! Congrats to #Murray and #Penny for very well deserved wins. Humans have been busy here, today Chewie went home and Jay-Jay arrived. I finished cleaning out the new bins we've been working on and moved out Stirling and Zyggy. I moved three condos downstairs. We are moving all the hams right now into 189L/50Gal Sterilite Stacker bins. They aren't our final enclosures but they're a bit better than the condos are and they're easy to move and sanitize. Thanks everyone for voting in our August HOTM and we will catch you all again in September for the next round! https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg-MhPGAIK8/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

okay so stranger things season 4
overall pretty good, now time for me to complain about it, big spoilz do not expand this readmore unless and until you have seen all 7 episodes
the gravity of the big episode 7 reveal is ruined by the fact that Numbuh One will not fucking shut up. about 75% of that narration needed to be cut. Show, don’t tell! He goes into way too much detail, so much it makes his character incoherent. Everything about humanity making a system that contradicts nature was gibberish, cut that shit. All the specifics just conflict with how we see him act as Vecna. Make it much more vague, have him talk about how the world needs to make sense but it doesn’t because people are always lying about who they are, he felt like he was watching them from somewhere else, etc. Specifics of how he tortured his family should all be SHOWN by Nancy seeing them in the vision. Also, the CG segment after he gets blown through the portal to the Upside-Down is fucking awful. It looks like shit. It looks like an inferior ripoff of the fucking intro to the Spawn movie. Don’t show us lightning turning him into Vecna, that’s dumb, that sucks. Show us him “landing”, groaning in pain, gasping for breath, and then show us looking at ONE HAND that is STARTING to get all fucked up. Then you cut to Vecna in the present with the 001 on his arm. We can infer what happened! It’s better if you don’t show it, even if you could make the effects not look awful!
Also the cast stabilizes into four and a half storylines : Hawkins, Eleven, California Road Trip, and then Joyce and Murray going to rescue Hop and Hop in the Russian prison are kind of like 1.5 storylines together. All of these storylines have great individual scenes but they don’t justify how much time they take from each other. There needed to be two story threads: Hawkins, and Eleven.
Russia Storyline is interesting enough on its own, but has nothing to do with the rest of what is going on. Only at the very very end does the Upside-Down even have any effect on the storyline. Like this is a spin-off series, not part of the main narrative.
The California Road Trip storyline opens with a fucking awesome shootout scene and a great panicked atmosphere that results in this cast herd of Will, Mike, John, and Argyle spinning their fucking wheels for over half of the series, wasting our time. The thing they are trying to get to is a thing we’ve already seen and know about, there’s no reward at the end of this for them except “finally showing up at the plot.” It’s a storyline epicycle. Hey, you know what you’ve fucking already done and isn’t interesting any more? Have Eleven and Mike driven apart over minor misunderstandings and emotional difficulties that seem major to them. And you know what you fucking already did in season 2 and didn’t work out well and made the cast separation fucking weird? Having Eleven’s entire storyline involve only herself with no other characters to bounce off of.
Why the fuck didn’t Mike go with her? Give her someone to bounce off of! You’re already making up sci-fi bullshit for how this process works, say that it only works if she has an emotional or memory anchor and someone has to go with her into these recollections, and that’s Mike. Let Mike be there in the recollections where Eleven is the only one who can see or hear him. Let Eleven fucking interact with someone and preserve her character development instead of literally regressing to the start of the series! Instead of retreading the misunderstandings from before, how about we give Mike something to do involving interacting with El, where he gets to see what a fucking monumental Deal it is with El and the sheer scope of what he’s actually signed up for! “This is some heavy fucking shit, these doctors are awful and I can’t believe we have to still cooperate with them to get back your powers, I don’t know if I am up for it, but I know I have to because my relationship with you represents your personal growth and recovering your powers has to come from growth, not regression!
Just about everything in the Hawkins storyline is fanfuckingtastic and all of the characters are charming and lovable and believable and their stories are balanced and told well and have emotional weight and I want a spin off that’s Dusty, Steve, and Robin on Scooby-Doo adventures where they spend half the time arguing.

Video
youtube
80′s music videos that are kinda just Wow, Part 2.  Part 1 here.
starting off, Scandal ft. Patty Smyth - The Warrior.  Shootin’ at the walls of heartache.  So many things happening in this video.  The half-animal costumes are totally practical, no cg, and still 800x better than Cats.
youtube
Tom Petty.  Don’t Come Around Here No More. No one else could have made this video, even then. And it was so out of character from the rest of his videos.  I think it was the first time he hit my radar, to be honest.
youtube
Murray Head, One Night In Bangkok.   If you can put aside the now glaring cultural...I don’t know what to call it.  But putting that aside, it is a song about chess.  The game. Worth it for the chessboard dance number.  The women in those shoulderpads and no pants.  So 80′s.  It’s also fun to sing along with.
youtube
Duran Duran, Hungry Like the Wolf. Classic.  Simon Le Bon was famous for his lips, can you tell by the closeups? Again, there is some questionable content re: “savage” woman from obviously less-developed country.  Yeah.  But it was also probably, for a lot of kids/people, a first inkling that maybe the mingling of races thing wasn’t so bad. I seriously was raised that this was bad stuff.  but, if it’s good enough for Simon Le Bon, I mean...
Ok let’s run with the Duran Duran Problematic Videos theme a little.
youtube
Hot foreign women want you! They’re so civilized, and she’s so wiillld. Also the phones?  the corded phones?  so weird.
You do have to give them credit for the creativity with their videos.  They’re practically trailers for movies that never should be made.
youtube
Yes, Owner of a Lonely Heart Dad band.   But this video...it’s so weird.  Maggot warning at about 3:40. The animal morphing is so bad.  I mean, it was the 80′s so yeah. Also my cat loves this video.
Gonna stop here because tumblr only likes 6 videos, and it seems uncool to put links up like I did last time.
