She is very good at making her little feel very important and makes sure to include them in plan making

("What do you want to do today, bug?" "How do you feel about *insert plan*?" "Would you like to go to *insert fun place*?")

She is usually teeming with ideas for fun activities you both can do together, but she also knows how to help her little calm down and unwind

She's very big on bedtime routines and sticking to them

They're a big source of comfort for both her and her little, and she wants to make sure they both get that comfort

She makes up a lot of stories for her little, ranging from tales of knights and splendor to nonsensical magic fables

Her little always has the most wonderful dreams

She uses a lot of nicknames, her favorites being Starshine, Bug, Love, and Duckling

She's also very good at making up games to play, usually by putting a spin on another game (blindfolded hide and seek, spin tag, duck duck beast, and many more)

She always makes sure that her little is being safe while having fun, as well as communicating when something is difficult for them to do

She knows how hard it can be to communicate when regressed, so she makes sure to give them lots of options

She will also give them mini history lessons all the time about anything they like

They could ask her about the history of Geese populations throughout the world and she would research so she could tell them fun facts

Really she just loves making sure that they are loved, safe, and happy at the end of the day :))

Lovebrush Chronicles: Godheim Review

My very long, informal, and definitely biased review. This will contain minor spoilers for the Godheim arc only so take caution. This review is also only limited to the Godheim series so there will be no overall thoughts on the game itself. I followed Otome Kitten's format and I really hope it helps out any beginners to LBC.

ART:

I found the art very pretty and was extremely glad to see that they did not skip out on giving us CGs either! The sprites all looked good, but I personally have some issues with Lars' outfit (the orange did not look good on you sweetie 💀).

Not all CGs are drawn by the same artist however, which may be off putting for some. The total count number of proper CG's for each route (not including common route) boils down to around 4-5, so that also may be a pet peeve for some.

On another note, there are also mini CG's which appear as small boxes, whether you consider it as an actual CG is up to you. Personally, I enjoyed the roles they played towards aiding the narrative.

Unrelated note, I'm banging on the floor crying and wondering who the hell did Ayn's CGs (the one where he was cleaning his sword was my absolute favorite 😍) and why didn't they come back.

MUSIC:

If there's one aspect of the game that I shall praise to the ends of the earth, it's the music.

Colour me shocked when I listened to the intricate and deep soundtracks for the first time, they just took my breath away! There were many gorgeous orchestral scores that depicted the fantasy setting perfectly. Not to mention the battle ost's which had more effort put into them than necessary.

My personal favorite OST's would be the "River's End", and "Starry Sky", which plays the same tune as the OP song you hear when you log onto the game. It's honestly so iconic. 😭👌

I was absolutely flummoxed by the stacked japanese voice cast, which all included extremely famous seiyuus from the otome industry:

COMMON ROUTE:

To my delight, the pacing was done very well. Nothing was dragged out and the introduction to the overall plot of the game was well established minus a certain plot point which definitely could have benefited better by being introduced in the common route itself.

I didn't really expect it to turn out as dark as it did however. The common route + modern prologue took me around a total estimation of more than 4 hours but in reality the prologue itself shouldn't take that long at all.

ROUTE ORDER:

Once you've completed the common route, you are given the option to start either Ayn's or Alkaid's route. After you've completed both, Lars' route is unlocked. And once you've finished all three routes, Clarence's route unlocks as the grand finale.

This was my personal playthrough and I wouldn't have changed it if given the chance. I believe it had the best flow of story progression. Though that was mainly because I wouldn't have enjoyed Alkaid's route as much if I'd played Ayn's first:

AYN ALWYN:

Ayn is Lars's cousin, but you soon find out that there is not a hint of familial love between them. He shows up as a mysterious figure during the common route and portrays a conflicting character, making the heroine unsure of his standing. While he appears blunt and crude, he is a determined young man who's sworn vengeance, and with an unexpected love for sweets.

Ayn's route in my opinion had the best consistent pacing as well as romance. I did find the romance somewhat abrupt early in the story, but the strong chemistry between him and the heroine more than made up for it! 🥰 It was just so enjoyable to watch them banter with one another and watching them just click.

I enjoyed the storyline for this route a lot and I think it had something to do with the fact that Ayn's route provided a different perspective in comparison to the others. In this route, we learn more about the the political situation surrounding Godheim and the royal family.

I also loved Ayn as a character, and not unexpectedly became my oshi ❤️.I do think a lot of people will enjoy him as a love interest. His route also has a wee bit of spice 👀, so for y'all thirsty gamers be sure to savor it slowly, as it's the only bit of spice we're getting here lmao. I did find some of his actions, mostly in the bad ends, to be OOC, but I easily brushed it off seeing as how much I liked him.

ALKAID MCGRATH:

- Member of the Noventrate

- Good, sweet boi

- Tea

Devoted and caring, Alkaid is the mage assigned to guard the heroine during her stay in Godheim. He's always expressing his concern for the heroine and will do anything to help her, even if it means betraying his mission.

Alkaid is the character who the heroine interacts the most during the common route. His romance with the heroine was sweet, even if it did feel way over the top in it's initial stages when I first played it. But once I got to learn more about him, I realized that he truly just wanted the best for the heroine, romantic feelings aside. 🥺

The route was fine. But I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the direction (?) it took on halfway. Some parts of it felt irrational to me and didn't really feel like it had any real relevance to its own story.

On another note, Alkaid is such a dreamy man. 😩 I adore just how respectful of a man he is in general (women respect juice, bottoms up!), and it was so sweet how attentive he was in making sure the heroine was always out of harm's way. I guess you could say he was someone akin to a hero in fairytales.

LARS RORSCHACH:

- Emperor of Godheim

- Good at combing hair 🥰

- That chest doe 👀

Known as the "Tyrant Emperor" from the heroine's manga, he immediately sweeps her off her feet, claiming her as his bride the moment she first arrived at Godheim. While his initial impression was flirty and playful, he lives up to his name as a cold-blooded tyrant. For some aspects at least.

His route focused more on the Silver Knight, which was the main (and wrong) reason why I enjoyed his route so much! 😆 On that note, I think that the writers had a bone to pick with Lars. They just had to force him to share the spotlight with an intriguing side character lmfao. The route itself was paced and executed well for the majority, but the quality of the writing towards the end was slightly skewered.

But to be honest, I quite enjoyed Lars a lot as a character, rather than a love interest. It was interesting to see the conditions surrounding his birth as a tyrant and his motivations for his questionable actions.

That's not to say that the romance wasn't enjoyable. I actually quite liked the relationship between him and the heroine. I found some moments they shared together really sweet. I also adored the development of Lars' feelings, and you can see just how important the heroine's existence was to him at the end of the route.

Though I guess I would have found the romance more believable if the heroine articulated her feelings for Lars more. I found it difficult to see the romance from her side. In short, the romance wasn't it's strongest point.

Clarence Clayden:

- Godheim's Archmage

- Get the tissues

- I've never been the same since...

Clarence has somewhat poised himself as an antagonist, only giving leeway in Lars' route. Distant and cold, he is stubborn in wanting to use the heroine for his goal and is willing to sacrifice anything to achieve it.

This route was an emotional rollercoaster. It broke me down, dumped my heart 6ft underground, trampled on its grave, and then some. It left me broken for a whole week for real goodness gracious...😭

This route can probably considered the "True Route", seeing as how it tackles the problem straight on unlike in other routes. The pacing slows down a little bit for a few chapters, but once it picked itself back up, it picked up HARD.

Now let's get to the romance. Out of all routes, some may say it had the least sugary romance, and a part of me agrees. But do igaf? No! ❤️Clarence turned out to be such a longingly sweet character and despite all the harm and pain he's done, I have no qualms in forgiving him and wanting to love him with all my heart🥺, as does the heroine.

I honestly don't want to say too much as it may ruin the experience. I went into this route completely blind and boy was I glad. All I can say that this route was the most popular out of all the routes for good reason. Got me playing up to 2 am with no regrets.😆😭

CAEL ANSELM:

- The Silver Knight

- The bias wrecker

- The sus

- He ruined me...

He is known in Godheim as the Silver Knight as well as the leader of the Rebellion. Decisive and apathetic, the heroine is unable to affect him emotionally in any form.🤡

Cael does not have an actual route, but a personal story, labeled as Expedition from his POV which may serve as an epilogue to the Godheim series. In his story, any unanswered questions are explained here, as well as the many actions he took that did not make it on screen.

If this wasn't a review I'd spend one whole section brainrotting about him so be grateful I'm trying to keep this short. 😅 Cael is a surprisingly interesting character by nature and it was very liberating to finally get a glimpse of his true feelings and thoughts throughout the heroine's journey in Godheim.

I'm scared to say more in case it may ruin any surprises. In my opinion, I enjoyed his story a LOT! It definitely made me feel depressed and empty in its own way and it hurts my heart to see that he never got a route of his own for reasons I won't get into right now. Absolutely amazing and one of my favorite parts of the Godheim series!

TRUE EPILOGUE:

Once you've finished all routes, the game will give you the option to choose one "True Ending", wherein you choose one of the boys to have a happily ever after with and by your own accord.

"One can only paint a world in which they believe in." 🥰

Please note that you can only choose one boy at a time. Your choice will then give you a Pictura based on which boy you choose.

To change your "True Ending", buy the Diadem from the shop to change your choice. You will not receive a different Pictura however.

I think the best thing about these endings were the music.😆 Each soundtrack was unique to each character and drop dead gorgeous to listen to. 😩

HEROINE (LITTLE PAINTER):

Despite China's strange attempts at creating self-insert heroines by leaving them nameless, the Little Painter was far from a blank slate! She's extremely relatable when it comes to her reactions and actions. Often times I would react a certain way to something an LI said or did, only for her to do the same thing! 🤣 I guess that could also count as a self-insert personality.

But if there's one thing I admire her greatly for, it would be her drive and determination to save Godheim. Her journey was far from easy and I doubt I could ever stay sane the way she did. Tbh, I didn't like the fact that her sufferings were never truly addressed properly, or rather, professionally ig?

I also found her quick adaptation and flexibility to her new environment extremely impressive. That goes the same to the way she wielded her powers for the first time. And how she grew stronger to go head to toe with even Clarence in his own route! You👏 Go👏Get👏 Em👏 Girl!

That said, she's not perfect. Some people found her to pushy and annoying though I personally found it okay. I was really glad how she didn't force herself to tolerate any crap and got that anger out rightfully.😆 (Asmoran deserved it...)

Final Thoughts:

I have enjoyed my journey immensely! The whole premise and setting drew me in, and I was surprised with the impressive narration which absolutely pummeled me to the ground (mostly on Clarence's route and no I'm not shutting up abt that).

The localization was also really superb? Yes it had a few typos + mistakes here and there, but they really pulled out all the stops when it came to making the dialogue natural and relatable. Not to mention a few large words that even I don't understand. 😂

It's not without it's imperfections of course. There are definitely some issues with the writing. And if you're looking for heavy romance or even fluff, Godheim is not the place to go to. 😅

Playing the Godheim arc took me about a week-ish, considering I had to level up and such. It may be a tedious process for some, but for me, it was an iron gate which I violently shook every day, screaming for the next chapter.

All in all, it's definitely worth playing! You don't lose much anyway considering it's free, so just give it a try. You can always drop it if you don't like it. My rating for this game is also very much biased and should not be taken seriously:

Katrina:

-she's 35 and regresses 10-12

-even regressed she still feels the need to protect her sisters (there home life is terrible)

-she loves to talk. She hardly ever does on a regular day cause she's deaf in one ear which makes conversation scary for her so when she's little she will talk about anything and everything for hours cause she's not bothered by her deafness as much

-her primary cgs are linda gerald Gary and becky-when she regresses wiggly will kinda show up and regress with her (that's a whole other list of headcannons I can send if you want)

-she loves to build. Like Linda and gerald have bought her like every lego friends set in existence

-whenever she’s little she goes to the monroe house cause it's kinda like an escape for her since it's so different from her everyday life

-linda and gerald even made her her dream kids room

-sometimes she'll play with river. But the other boys make her nervous

-sometimes when she gets really exhausted from talking gerald will carry her to her room and linda or Becky (sometimes Gary when it's just him and gerald) will cuddle with her while she rests

-likes to be called Katty darling and sweetheart

Next is kacey

-kacey is 28 and regresses 6-9

-she works at ccrp. She never wanted anyone to know but one day ted was being well Ted and she had a deadline she didn't know about and started regressing so she ran off mid conversation with Charlotte and Bill. They followed her and thats how they found out

-eventually they helped her tell paul and emma

-her cgs are obviously Charlotte bill Paul and emma

-once Mr Davidson and Melissa took care of her while the others were away on a business trip. They don't speak of it cause she's embarrassed

-she likes to be sang to so Charlotte and Bill will sing to her when she gets tired

-she has terrible arthritis so bad most of the time she needs crutches or even a wheelchair to get around so when the pain gets really bad she has terrible meltdowns.

-these meltdowns are the reason Charlotte bought a weighted blanket and multiple heat pads (the pressure and heat makes the pain more bearable)

-she hates uses her crutches when little so Bill or Paul usually have to carry her around

-she likes painting and drawing when little so she'll set up in Charlotte or bills living room with a movie and just draw or paint for hours

-she has a service dog that somehow just knows when she needs to regress and immediately grabs one of her cg

-for some reason she'll also just like Lay on her back on the floor and stare at the ceiling they aren't really sure why but she giggles a lot when she does it so they're fine with it

-she also loves playing superheros with paul and emma

-she likes to be called ace kid and sweety

-she's 18 and regresses anywhere from 1 to 5

-she does not talk at all when little. She doesn't talk a ton anyway but when little she goes completely non verbal will not make a sound

-she likes when grace sings to her even though it's church songs

-most of the time she'll just sit in front of the TV with one of her cartoons on

-she's blind in her left eye so whenever she walks she gets way more clumsy and will just run into walls

-they are all very concerned so someone usually pete has to go with her wherever she goes

also i think that aether and venti are a COMPLETELY underrated duo when it comes to regression hc's. little venti cg aether? works perfect. cg venti little aether? works perfect. Some of my head cannons in who I think is CG/Little/Flip in shows I love and I have a lot but I’ll keep it too about ten lol🥹🤭

1, we will talk about Regina and Emma from Once upon a time.

Regina at times I see could be a flip, definitely the same with Emma but Regina has a heavy CG lean and Emma has a Heavy Little lean.

2, The 11th Doctor and River Song from Doctor Who.

River of course being the CG here. And 11th being the little, now, I also see 11th as a CG, I don’t think they have a lean. Speaking of Doctor who, 12th would definitely be heavy CG lean. And 9th would be a flip as well and 10th, 13th I feel would also be a flip. So if River was ever to be shmol around any of the Doctors I feel she’d be protected and safe.

3, Charlie and Vaggie Hazbin Hotel.

Now to me it’s clear Charlie is the little here, but I also believe she could possibly be big sibbie mode so when ever Vaggie is smol too she becomes somewhat big and takes care of them both but not often, however Vaggie has a heavy CG lean but sometimes regresses. I do feel they’d take care of each other. Very well.

4, okay, so Amity and Luz from The Owl house,

Now I think they’d both be flips, having Amity having a little lean and Luz having a little lean too, I’d say Amity is likely more big at times but still regresses but they still take care of each other I also think Lilith would take care of them both pretty well when regressed, especially when they’re both smol together.

5, Alastor and Nifty Hazbin Hotel.

Now I think Alastor is a Flip, however doesn’t show it as much and has more a Cg lean when it comes to Nifty in general he’s only a CG, that being said it’s clear I feel Nifty is 100% a little.

6, Nimona and Ballistar from the film Nimona

Well, Nimona definitely is the little here and Ballistar is definitely the CG.

7, Angel Dust and Husker

Well this one is definitely clear for me Angel definitely is the little and Husker is the CG though I do feel Husker maybe a little bit of a flip but never really regressed at all not because they can’t but more so they have a major cg headspace and are there more than not. However Angel definitely is the little baby here.

8, Enid and Wednesday from Wednesday

Well I certainly think Enid would be a little and Wednesday would be her cg. Definitely.

9, Lucifer and Lilith.

Let’s be real, Lilith is the cg here and Lucifer is the shmol baby, and not only that he is a father to Charlie and when she’s shmol and he’s shmol I feel like it’s chaos but I also feel like he’s a responsible father when it comes to his daughter… somewhat. lol.

10, Frankie from Monster High (movie plus cartoon)

Okay she’s definitely a little I don’t think she has a cg that’s fully just one I feel her friends Draculaura and Clawdeenwolf both help her lots, and I feel they’re also flips. But Frankie is definitely a little.

Okay, hehe I done ten, now this is in my opinion what I see and feel from these characters. This doesn’t make it correct for everyone’s POV but for mine and in my head which I feel is cannon to me this is my list. A few of them.

Prince of Egypt: Movie Review

Dreamworks pinnacle, thus saith the lord.

In December 1998, Dreamworks Pictures and Dreamworks Animation, the same company known for the Shrek movie series, the Madagascar series, and multiple mixed-acclaimed animated films, peaked with their second movie release. While Dreamworks embraced CG animation throughout the 2000s, 2010s, and today, their magnum opus came from the hand-drawn animated classic Prince of Egypt. Adapted from the Book of Exodus, the film follows Moses' time as a prince of Egypt to his time as a prophet chosen by God who must free the Hebrews from their slavery. Upon watching it for the first time last month, I was shocked by how competent the film proved.

With very little knowledge of most of the stories detailed throughout the Bible, I found this telling of Moses' story fascinating. The plight of the Hebrew people in Egypt made for a devastating watch. After Pharoah Seti orders a mass infanticide of all newborn Hebrew boys in fear of rebellion due to massively growing numbers, Yocheved rushes her newborn son down a river in a basket in the hopes he will be safe from the slaughter. Yocheved's daughter, Miriam, follows the basket to see her brother end up before Pharoah Seti's palace, who becomes adopted by Seti's wife, Queen Tuya. There, the baby is given the name of Moses.

Years later, we witness Moses and his adoptive brother Rameses older and assuming roles of royalty as Rameses is named prince regent and appoints Moses as his Royal Chief Architect. Later that night, Moses discovers his Hebrew heritage, eventually leading him to flee his home in exile despite Rameses insisting he remain. After God tells Moses to return to Egypt to free the Hebrews, Moses returns years later to confront Rameses, who is now Pharoah, with a wife and son.

From their early formative years to now, as grown men on opposing sides, the character dynamic of Moses and Rameses is engaging. It's also heartwrenching to witness the dichotomy of their goals after establishing early the powerful bond they shared in their youth. Amongst the cast of characters shown in the film, Moses and Rameses are easily the driving force as their differing values are put against one another. Other characters have their moments, but none quite catch the attention, like Rameses and Moses.

Have I mentioned that the film is also a musical? The overall soundtrack has some decent songs that encapsulate the suffering of the Hebrew people rather well. However, there are two clear standouts. The first song, "Deliver Us," which we hear in the first ten minutes, is the background for the injustices the slaves endure as they are whipped, bullied, and helpless to watch their children die before them. Powerful imagery accompanies wonderous vocals as the people hope for something better to come while also witnessing Yocheved deliver their future savior, Moses, safely away from the jaws of certain death. After "Deliver Us," are songs that are decent in vocals, lyrics, and instrumentals but don't capture much of the urgency as "Deliver Us" does. That is until "The Plagues…"

"The Plagues," in my opinion, is the best song in the film. It's been on repeat since I watched the movie. Ralph Fiennes and Amick Byram deliver strong vocal performances with lyrically calamitous storytelling as Moses pleads for his brother to release his people, and yet Rameses' stubbornness leads to needless more suffering and death. And the chorus of voices acting as God casting down plague after plague upon everyone?

It's a masterful song to accompany a masterful film. If you haven't seen the movie before, I recommend watching it immediately. And if you have, watch it again. Great performances, animation, and story execution. Not perfect with some songs or characters failing to be as compelling as others, but still easily the best movie I've watched so far in 2024. 4/5.

Just finished watching The Power of the Doctor special (Doctor Who series 13 ending, last episode with Jodie Whitaker) and I really enjoyed it. I feel like BBC skimped on the CG effects for the Sea Devils episode to save all the good stuff for this gem. Jodie did such a wonderful job as the Doctor. The writing sometimes was poo, but she was marvelous. And what an interesting ending! (No spoilers here, River Song's orders.) Can't wait to see what comes next.

Just finished Encanto, and I feel pretty meh about it. Even though I love musicals (they’re my life and blood), this movie shouldn’t have been a musical, and it should’ve been longer. There were parts of this film that begged to fall into the dramatic - yet stayed constrained within the music’s almost always upbeat restrictions. I really think this film would’ve been stronger had Disney gone full drama and stretched out the familial make-ups. It felt extremely sudden that Isabella & Mirabel and Abuela & Bruno were able to “make-up”/come to a realization about another. And, the explanation of Abuela’s backstory - and her reason for change at the end - never felt deserved. Yes, I was sad to see what happened to her and her husband and her having to continue living and being strong, but I felt like the scene could’ve been more poignant had we seen gradual change. All we seemed to get was Mirabel calling her the reason why the miracle’s failing and then granny by the river, a changed woman. Like for more than an hour, she’s been a matriarchal pain, why should I care now?

Me not caring lasted throughout the film. I did not care that the Madrigal’s lost both house and power - all I thought was good, due to the way some of them acted, they needed to be put down a peg and be with the “people.” But, truly, despite my dislike of some Madrigal’s, I think, narratively, them losing all their powers would’ve been a stronger ending. Not just for the message “you don’t need powers to be special,” but also because having powers put such a hold on them- forcing them into these rigid ideals set by family and community, and by having those powers gone at the end - idk, I just think it would’ve been freeing. The fact that they had to rebuild with just their own hands and community, firmly made me wish that their powers would never return and by them now powerless, they can choose their own lives. 

Anyway, the animation is gorgeous. Like wow, Disney, I’m not usually a fan of cg, but damn, this was breathtaking. The details- superb! 

... I’m sorry, but I’m still not a huge fan of LMM. The only song I can see myself replaying (because I’ve been playing it for weeks) is We Don’t Talk About Bruno. Honestly, the music was a huge detriment and detractor. 

These are my initial thoughts. I doubt I’ll ever add on... Maybe in a separate post, idk.

Edit (12/25): Camilo and Dolores needed more! I wanted to see them more- I wanted to know more about their powers, how they feel about these powers, and more of who they are as people! I loved those two - Disney, why didn’t we get more of them! And Lin! I was really hoping for their own songs (but you probs didn’t get to make that decision).

"Big Iron" is a country ballad written and performed by Marty Robbins, originally released as an album track on Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs in September 1959, then as a single in February 1960 with the song "Saddle Tramp" as the B-side single.[2] Members of the Western Writers of America chose it as one of the Top 100 Western songs of all time.[3]

It tells the story of an Arizona Ranger's duel with a 24-year-old outlaw named Texas Red in the "town of Agua Fria".[a] The townspeople predict the death of the ranger; an unconcerned Texas Red having already killed "one and nineteen" men, but at the moment they meet, the ranger kills Texas Red with the swiftness of the "big iron on his hip." The ranger's draw was so swift, that Texas Red had not even "cleared leather,"[b] killing the outlaw in one shot.

Robbins's version of the song reached number 5 on the Billboard Country chart and number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April 1960.[4] The B-side, "Saddle Tramp" was not included on Gunfighter Ballads,[2] but was later placed on Robbins' 1966 LP The Drifter.[5]

The song is also featured in the video game Fallout: New Vegas on the in-game radio stations, 'Mojave Music Radio', ‘Black Mountain Radio’ and 'Radio New Vegas'. The popularity of the game helped spur a revival of interest in Robbins' music in the 21st century. In the decade following the video game's release, "Big Iron" became an Internet meme, gaining popularity through remixes and Photoshop parodies as well as its use on YouTube.[6]

Inspiration Edit

The eponymous "Big Iron" was built by Andy Anderson in his Fast Draw Holster shop from parts. It was on a Great Western frame with a 12" barrel made from an 1892 Winchester rifle or carbine barrel in .44 WCF. Andy was 6'4" with large hands. He put Colt 1860 Army grips on his personal SA revolvers, and this gun has an original grip frame from an 1860 Army. The cylinder is a Great Western cylinder chambered for .44 Magnum.

Robbins happened to be in the shop the day a customer bought the gun. The customer was also a very large man, and Robbins was fascinated by his fast drawing the Buntline. One week later, Andy Anderson received in the mail a record of Big Iron; Robbins wrote the song after seeing this gun. Andy Anderson additionally had a personal gun he called Big Iron, a Colt S.A. .44 Special with 7 1/2" barrel out of his own favorite rig, the "AA", a high rise version of his Walk & Draw Western.[7]

The gun that served to inspire this song currently resides in a private collection.

I've seen people say that and the lyrics don't make a lot of sense to me, either. "Big Iron" is so distinctive because it feels like an artifact from some kind of post-apocalyptic future, a relic of a bygone age, when humans were more powerful than any physical force of nature, when the only way you could truly conquer anyone was with an iron armature like the one that made the gun Big Iron

But Big Iron is also a country song. It has references to farms and farming and ranches and a "cowboy" with a "bronze gun," and if you look at it in a post-apocalyptic context, you won't be able to get it. If you look at it from a country music perspective, you'll see a lot of references to "a cowboy" and the "big iron on my hip." The song is about someone named "TEXAS RED" with a "twisted face" who "shoots down the sky / like a comet on the sun."[15] And it's easy to ignore the fact that there is also a part about someone called "RANGER RIDER" who "tries to catch him, but he keeps on riding." We are told that "his eyes look dead" and he is "[c]all[ed] 'BROWN TOWN BULL.'" [16] But the song also references "rural farming communities" and "corn and wheat and cattle and hay" and "the sun going down over the Rio Grande." What the hell are we supposed to think, if this isn't a country song but something else?

And that's the important point: the song doesn't come out and say it. The song only exists when you take a country music perspective on it. You only get the sense that there is some other "unspoken reality" behind the words, that the song is "about" some kind of supernatural force and not, say, people and horses and corn and farms.

This is actually a pretty familiar experience, for me, as someone who has a lot of experience with listening to pop music that's "subversive" of whatever cultural context it was written in. In the post-punk and hard-rock worlds, you would be more likely to encounter songs that talked about "subliminal messages," "unspoken realities," or "forces beyond our comprehension." These kinds of songs tend to be popular, because there is always a listener for whom the song's message is not about a particular culture but "about" everything.

The Freedom of Expression, radio version - Ep 59, Nov 2016 - Looking at works of art from different perspectives, Sinkhole opens up in Fukuoka.

Kaoru starts by saying they are recording this show the day after the Kisou tour's male only/female only lives were over, and for some reason he hadn't been able to spot the face of someone who had said they were going to attend the male only live (Joe). Joe assures Kaoru he definitely will show up to one of the remaining dates of the tour, and admits that he forgot all about the male only live which he was supposed to attend.

Kaoru's first topic of interest is about an artist who made drawings by hand of quotes from famous movies once a day, and ended up with 365 of them. Kaoru is impressed that the artist was able to do this every day. He imagines it would be easy at first, but as the days pass, he thinks it would get pretty tough. Joe asks Kaoru if there is any particular kind of expression that he makes every single day. Not like eating breakfast or that type of thing, but, for example, playing guitar every day etc. Kaoru says he is not sure if playing guitar counts as an expression. He doesn't think he does have any everyday expressions, unless going to the toilet and forming an arc when peeing counts. Joe says thats a natural phenomenon, not an expression.

Getting back on topic, Joe senses a slight cynical aspect within the drawings, in the sense that a hand-drawn still could encompass more of 'movie' feel than real, modern CG movies do. Kaoru thinks these drawings allow you to see the movies from someone elses viewpoint, which may be different from the way you interpret them. Joe adds to this by saying he is quite interested in the concept of exophony, meaning the act of writing/making expressions in languages that are not your first language. He brings up the example of Japanese writer Tawada Yōko, who lives in Germany, and writes novels in German. Joe says although she is fluent in German, she is not quite at native novel writing standard, which makes her writing very different from the usual type. The words she uses are often read differently to the original intention she had (*see Wiki page for clearer explanation*). Joe finds it interesting that in a second or third language you can see how things are interpreted differently if you shift your viewpoint a bit. Kaoru links this to music by likening it to doing cover versions. He says that Dir en grey themselves have experience recording covers/tributes. He feels much more free when playing a cover compared to playing his own songs. There is a sense that you can do whatever you want, as long as you don't destroy the image of the original song too much. Also, you don't really have to think much when playing it live. The only part he has an issue with is covers being available to buy. He heard that a cover Dir en grey did is being sold (*ワルシャワの幻想?*). The situation around selling cover versions seems pretty unclear to him, and he wonders whether its ok.

Next, they welcome Tasai to the conversation, who starts by bringing up the unbelievable news that Donald Trump has been elected President of the USA. Joe asks Kaoru what he thinks about this, and Kaoru says the only thing to do is to watch and see what happens. Tasai offers one of the reasons for Trump's election as being white, poor people wanting to break open a hole in politics, and he uses this point to link back to Japan, where another terrible hole has opened up. This is the news of a massive sinkhole suddenly opening up outside Hakata Station in Fukuoka. At 30m wide, Tasai thinks this is like something out of a manga. Joe agrees with this, saying he was really shocked when he saw the images. Tasai explains that the hole was most likely caused by construction of a subway line that was going on underground near the station. One of his close friends was actually working in an office next to the sinkhole when it opened up, and has said that his work has been cancelled since.

Additionally, many voices have been raised that this is actually a real danger in cities like Tokyo and Osaka too, such places being crammed with subway lines underground. Shibuya is thought to be at particular risk of sinkholes occurring, because there is a river running right by the subway line there. With the ongoing construction in the area, Tasai says that a person named 'Kaneko san' has warned that people need to be alert to the danger. Kaoru interrupts to ask who Kaneko is (*on its own, this sounds like a woman's given name*), and Tasai clarifies that this is 'disaster prevention advisor Kaneko Tomio - age 65', not one of Hiranabe's girlfriends. Getting back on topic, Kaoru says Shibuya is pretty scary in that case. Joe says that if you were to take an xray of Tokyo's streets, it would look like papier mâché underneath, and he is pretty worried about the city. Tasai says that according to Kaneko san, its a miracle that no-one was killed in the Fukuoka incident, but if it happened in Tokyo, it would probably be much more serious, so vigilance is needed. Counter-measures include paying careful attention to bedrock, and fortifying the gound etc. The condition of the bedrock underground in Fukuoka is particularly uneven, which means sinkholes are likely to keep ocurring there. Kaoru and Joe think construction companies really need to up their vigilance in this matter, and pay more attention to safety.

Kaoru finished the show with various announcements. First he announces that extra dates have been added to the Kisou tour at Shinkiba Studio Coast on the 5th and 6th of Dec, 2016. Joe probably won't be able to attend though, as these are weekdays. Then he annouces the planned release of the first three Mode of tours on Dvd/Bluray, scheduled for release in March 2017, and also plugs the upcoming Mode of Uroboros tour. Next he announces the release of the 'Ugeee' effector which he made with the people at 'Weed'. He wanted a name for the product which contained a long 'e' sound, as in Weed, and eventually settled on 'Ugeee'. He then quickly reminds listeners about the Instagram campaign, and then finishes the show.

why set it in futuristic 2020? the fuck, the tecnology wasnt as advanced. Instead of a phone in the hand they had phones in the fridge, table and wall.

???? like wtf, phones could've work just fine and you could keep that CG budget for something else. Also keep it in 2017 not 2020. Their Sponsored cars basically looked like old models in the shows context.

why bring the old actors and forget to acknowledge them. Even Xing Jiu would've recognize them. Yanda could've shown anything toward her dad and yet.

why the fuck was kasuo in the U.S. hiking and then going to an american doctor because he can freeze rivers. ???? like ???? it was never referenced again.

Have the reincarnations struggle between returning to Fantasy or stay on earth. Victoria Song only appeared on two eps, more than enough to make Kasuo choose between Liluo or his free life on earth. Just make Luo luo someone else. Also Liluo stayed in her Langshan bodyswap outfit.

The dream machine was fun, and many people recognizing the dream would've made a very interesting setting for the plot.

Maybe an indevelopment game like love o2o or kings avatar? IDK

Also instead of the gorgeous costuming, everyone only had 3 meh outfits. I've even read that either Ma Tian Yu brought his own clothing or he stole some from the set.
