You ran through the woods, twigs snapping and leaves crunching under your boots. Weaving in and out of the trees looking behind you every few seconds, the crisp night air hitting your lungs with each breath. Your heart pounding in your chest each pump slamming against your ribs harder than the last. You stumbled over a rock and fell to the ground into a clearing.

“Shit” you huffed out looking around you. The cold night breeze nipping your nose. You slid a bit as you struggled to get back up in a crawl position, dirt sticking to your sweaty hands. You hear the wind rustle the trees when you feel something grab your leg pulling you back. Your lack of sleep not helping with the fact that your vision is slightly blurry. Once your eyes focus a bit trying to make out the figure in the dark, they widen when you realize-

“Ghost.” His name falls from your lips like a curse.

The figure loomed over you, shadow dark and imposing. You’ve never seen him like this, never felt fear this deep; it was as if you were prey. Like he was actually on a mission to chase and capture you.

The grip he had on your leg was fierce and unyielding, like the iron jaws of a bear trap closing tightly around its prey. If you didn’t know better, you might have believed you were just that. Prey. In an unforgiving vice.
