CJ Cregg and 2, 5, 12, 15 and 18 for the character asks?
2. Favorite canon thing about this character? Her clumsiness! I'm really clumsy myself and seeing such a great, smart, gorgeous woman at such an important position who shares that trait with me was something that made me fall in love with CJ the second she fell on that treadmill.
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them? They call me... The Jackal. I love that scene and I know that many people cringe hard at it, but I love how awesome it is in its awkwardness.
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character? I'm sure it's not exclusively my headcanon and I may have read it somewhere in a fic, but I believe that she decided to go by CJ rather than her full name or simply Claudia in order for her male coworkers to take her more seriously.
15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.) CJxDANNY 5EVER!!!!!! TWW is one of the few shows where I love and adore and ship all canon ships! I love her with Danny, the banter, the sheer intelligence of both of them, the sparks flying between them... Danny is a great guy and I love them together! I really liked Mark Harmon's character, too, and I do enjoy the episodes with CJ and Simon.
18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire? I love CJ's relationship with Abbey. There's so much mutual respect and love and admiration between them in those few scenes they share, which I think is absolutely an Allison & Stockard thing rather than a Sorkin thing. With CJ being the only female member of the Bartlet for America staff and Abbey being a very successful woman in a traditionally male field, I'm 1000% certain they became fond of each other the second they met, two powerful, amazing women, surrounded by men. Their scene in "The Fall's Gonna Kill You" is beautiful and brilliantly acted by two incredibly talented women. Thanks for the ask, friend! 💜💜

Summary
Photography is an important aspect of any Presidency as it not only helps to record memorable events that occur throughout the course of that President's term in office, but also plays a crucial role in shaping the President's public image to garner support. However, the field of photography, and more importantly, the individual's behind the lens are often ignored in favor of more prominent roles. This is the story of Winifred Ludwig, the Chief Official White House Photographer throughout the Bartlet Administration.

New TWW fic!
Title: a feeling so peculiar Characters: CJ Cregg, Carol Fitzpatrick, Leo McGarry (and the others ofc) Relationships: CJ & Carol, CJ & Leo Words: 4158 (chapter 1) Warnings: Suicide attempt, trauma, blood, emotional hurt/comfort Summary: Carol never knew people could bleed that much.
CJ tries to commit to suicide and fails. Carol is the reason she's alive; Leo helps her stay that way, whether she likes it or not. A long road ahead with the right people in your corner is more bearable than it seems at the start. Link: AO3

the way early cj cregg’s automatic response to any personal crisis it to hit a little button that says “IGNORE” is such an interesting character trait and also so funny. same response for a month-long toothache, an unfortunate crush, and a stalker sending her threats. Totally Normal Functional Response.
(and in manchester, in that gray area between personal and professional crisis, THAT’S when she fucks up.)

Bought to you by me binge watching my comfort show Say Yes To The Dress but like, tell me about your blorbos on the show. And I am aware that most of my blorbos would be getting custom designer etc but ALSO.
Consider that for plot reasons CJ Cregg shows up at Klenfield with the former first lady, the current first ladies chief of staff, the former first daughter(s), her niece and possibly the former POTUS who will be crying like the proud dad he is and also telling everyone about the history of wedding dresses cc @miabicicletta
I mean any modern au Anne Boleyn is going custom but I am imagining the royal wedding special (OT3 verse). Actually I think her wedding gown and Mihrimah’s become The Style even centuries later (also the modern tudor royal weddings). Also ZOYA. And Inej. And I mean Genya. And Nina beacause Mattias is FINE.
(I will also ponder the LOTR characters now).

*Yes, I know. I promise, I know. However, I've also spent more time sobbing into a carpet about Ender than any other character on this list and it felt dishonest not to include him.
(Seriously, if you come at me for my complex relationship with Ender's Game and its sequels I'll just block you. Someday I'll write that essay, but today is not that day.)

I have not seen the show but I love it when people tell me about their passions/interests/hyperfixations/etc, so I have abe a Sports night question for you. You mentioned a bunch of things that Sorkin fucked up in the second season. If you could only fix one, which would it be? And conversely, if you could fix everything except one issue, what would you be most willing to let stand?
AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH okay this is a GREAT question that I may die trying to answer.
If I could only fix one thing: Jeremy's arc. The rest of it I can kind of live with. Dana goes batty? Sure. It's stupid and it ruins the Dana/Casey love story, which I was originally very invested in when I watched the show at 14, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Dan turns into an asshole and Casey also turns into an asshole? Very conceivable, especially given that Dan is dealing with going to therapy for the very first time while hating himself about it and Casey has the emotional awareness of a grapefruit.
But Jeremy and Natalie deserved better. They deserved so much better. Jeremy was a kinder, better character in the first season. Jeremy in the first season would never have yelled into Natalie's face about what a slut she was, and Natalie in the first season would never have taken that standing there silently. Aaron Sorkin fucked that up. He fucked it up to a degree I can't even begin to comprehend. I hate that even more than I hate how ham-handedly he threw in William H. Macy as the fixer, which I hate so much I often just straight up forget to include in stories.
Aaron Sorkin ruined Jeremy's character because he always uses all of the male characters as stand-ins for himself. He doesn't do that with the women; he sees them as fundamentally somehow different and other, and who knows why crazy women do what they do, right? He's at his best with female characters when he writes them even a little like his male characters--see CJ Cregg from West Wing.
When he uses the men as stand-ins, and he's in a reasonable place emotionally, it's fine. It's enjoyable. He's witty! He's entertaining. He recognizes that he needs mental help, although the way he writes therapists makes me want to find his home and break in and tie him to his bed and then carefully explain to him the guiding precepts behind therapy and why he's an asshole in ways he hasn't even considered.
But when he's also using drugs, which he has struggled with repeatedly, and he did during the writing of that second season, suddenly the writing is incoherent and his stand-ins are now terrible people because on some level he's trying to excuse his own terrible behavior. Being an asshole to a sex worker? Sure! That's normal! Lovable characters like Jeremy can do that and we'll still love them! Right? Right? (A sex worker Sorkin frequented during that time has noted that he stole a lot of his material directly from her, without ever crediting her or admitting it.)
He was also splitting his attention between Sports Night and West Wing, and he was already presumably stretched thin, so on top of the drugs there's a lack of thought, care, attention, love, and time going into that season. The best parts were written by other people. So he doesn't even earn the credit for those parts of season 2 that were deeply moving.
If I could fix everything except one thing........ okay I would probably let William H. Macy stay. I hate to admit it, because I don't know that he deserves this, but I have an abiding affection for that weird fucking mustache on that weird fucking man.

🍈 🍇🍑?
🍈 Who’s your blorbo and what are some of your favorite headcanons/ideas about them that repeatedly show up in your fics? Free pass to rant about blorbo opinions.
I mean, CJ Cregg is my numero uno TWW blorbo... but I don't think I have 😬 any repeating headcanons? oof.
My other blorbo, aka Danny... - and I think I borrowed this from the larger fandom consciousness (I believe I first saw this in one of Mia's fics?) - won his first Pulitzer for reporting on war crimes in the 90s. And of course, his second was for the assassination of Abdul Shareef.
Other headcanons - he was asked to write a book on a Bartlet (no one said which one) through the Notre Dame printing press. He wrote one on Abbey because nobody said he couldn't. Also he met Josh while Josh was finishing at Harvard, and Danny was partway through grad school (though he didn't finish).
🍇 Is there a particular scene/episode/book/etc that you want to just write a million fics about, over and over? Which one?
INSITUTIONAL MEMORY!!! Also I've now written one and a half stories about Internal Displacement/Duck and Cover (the fact that CJ goes directly from her dinner with Danny into the non-stop nuclear crisis of San Andreo MAKES. ME. BITE.!!!!!)
🍑 If you could make a connection between your favorite character and another work you care about (whether a crossover/fusion or a wonderfully “pretentious” literary reference) what would it be? How would it work?
One day, I will write my niche crossover that will please me and exactly three other people, where President Bartlet wins after President Truman (so. the fifties) and CJ is still (somehow) his press secretary. Danny is a war correspondent in Korea for some of this time, so of course he crosses paths with the 4077. (yeah. a mash/tww crossover.)
Thank you Lil! 🥰💜
