Exploring the Versatile Uses of Charcoal Powder in Cosmetics
In the beauty and wellness industry, charcoal powder stands out as an increasingly prominent ingredient, offering a wealth of benefits for cosmetic manufacturers and consumers alike. Its versatility and efficacy in purifying and rejuvenating the skin make activated charcoal a star in product development.
Activated Charcoal: The Detoxifying Powerhouse
Activated charcoal acts as a potent Detoxifying Agent within cosmetics. Its ability to adsorb toxins and impurities from the skin makes it a go-to ingredient for deep cleansing routines. Integrating charcoal powder into your formulations allows customers to experience a profound cleanse, making it an essential in everything from Facial Masks to clarifying cleansers.
Tumblr media
Purity Through Pore Cleansing
The exceptional adsorption properties of charcoal powder make it excellent for Pore Cleansing. It effectively removes accumulated oil and debris, offering critical solutions for Oil Control and Skin Purification. This feature is especially appealing for consumers with oily or blemish-prone skin, making charcoal powder an attractive ingredient for targeted skincare products.
Natural Exfoliant and Impurity Absorption
Charcoal powder serves as a Natural Exfoliant, helping to slough off dead skin cells and enhance skin radiance without harshness. Its capacity for Impurity Absorption is a boon in products aimed at Blackhead Removal, providing a gentle yet effective approach to achieving clear skin.
Wide-Ranging Benefits Beyond Skin Care
While charcoal powder is a champion in skin detoxification and exfoliation, its use in oral care as a Teeth Whitening agent underscores its diverse applicability. The gentle abrasive action of activated charcoal helps to lift stains from teeth, promoting oral hygiene and brighter smiles without the use of harsh bleaching agents.
Innovative Formulations for Modern Needs
The contemporary beauty landscape demands innovative solutions that align with consumer needs. Charcoal powder is instrumental in creating high-performance, multi-functional products. From purifying peel-off masks that deliver a dramatic skin-clearing effect to exfoliating cleansers that refresh and renew, charcoal powder is shaping the future of personal care. Its integration into pore-refining toners and mattifying primers demonstrates its broad utility, catering to the needs of a sophisticated clientele.
Tailoring to Consumer Preferences
With the rise of personalized beauty and DIY cosmetics, charcoal powder offers an adaptable component that consumers can use in their own creations. Its compatibility with various skincare ingredients allows for bespoke beauty experiences, encouraging consumer experimentation and engagement with brands that offer customizable options.

Beta Drafts for Rising Charcoal Mystic Flour and Burning Spice (from school)
Tumblr media
Couldn't get the angle perfect for taking the photo, and my camera doesn't like lined paper and/or pencil so it might be blurry
Not completely satisfied with them, but that's the point of beta designs so...
(lore below some ranting)
I'm decently happy with Mystic Flour. Starting to think about giving her and Eternal extra stuff to add to their outfit, since although I think it's fitting for this AU that I removed her souljam circlet (something I'm doing to all beasts, Silent replacing their chestplate and Burning Spice being the exception because it's on his chest), veil, and ribbon (?) it leaves more empty space. I think I'll do some fur sleeves in some way, since it seems to be a common thing among the posh formal Cacaoian designs
Not as happy with Burning Spice outside of the outfit, which I will change but I think I got the vibe down. He's my favorite beast, but I really need to draw him more. I think I was more worried to mess with his hair design because of that. I need to make it more unique, but in exchange his outfit was made more interesting and yeah. I definitely need to change the other two's, even though they definitely have more interesting hair.
Anyway, time for the lore I promised (note that both of these are in their beta forms, I'll have a better version on the full deisgn posts)
MYSTIC FLOUR
Awoke in snowy mountains in a body of monochrome chocolate and cream, with a sword whose handle was covered in the blue jam of its previous owner. She was found, and although her body gave her new strength, she was much weaker than she should be. The strangers, however, were merciful, one of the two listening to her words carefully, and being able to connect with her. They eventually came to a deal, and thus, the tundra gained one more tyrant:
Affogato, Strawberry Jam, and Mystic Flour it was.
Though with each passing day Mystic Flour grows unsettled by the two- bothered by the state of the world. It's not too long before she drifts too far.
BURNING SPICE
At first, the only reason he knew he was awake in a new body was a soft light coming from cut glowing golden hair replacing his typical black. He was lulled back to sleep by a dull purple smoke, until he woke again free of his deathbed. He was greeted by Smoked Cheese and Powder Cheese, in lands the latter was happy to call the Sand Slices. The town was built around the ruins of a pyramid, tall walls surrounding all of it, with viscous sand storms outside the gates, chipping away at the licorice scented undead that crawl up from the sands and claw towards the small settlement. While Powder Cheese pretends all is well, Smoked Cheese is far more blunt about her rise to power. Unfortunately, Powder Cheese is not ready to let his guard- the sandstorm around the settlement- down anytime soon.
[Powder Cheese is a scrapped GC cookie for anyone who is unaware. I'm not quite sure I will include Rich Cheese, but it's a possibility]

Idk if this is something people discuss and I’m just not in those circles but I feel like the lack of public awareness about the usage and effects of activated charcoal, especially with all these new health and beauty “hacks” and such, is like—genuinely unethical?
Bc like, if you take any medications whatsoever then activated charcoal is going to Fuck You Up. Activated charcoal binds to toxins and drugs and prevents them from being absorbed by the stomach lining, allowing them to pass through the body less harmfully. It’s used when someone has ingested some poison or overdosed on a drug and they need to prevent it from being absorbed before they can start other steps to save someone. Other than that, it doesn’t really have any benefits.
So if you’re on any medication at all, activated charcoal will suck that up and prevent it from actually doing it’s job. And I think it’s so crazy that so many of these health products and recipes that advertise the “benefits” of activated charcoal never mention that it can be harmful.

My problem is that I'm smart enough to remember the formula for gunpowder, and dumb enough to not know where to get any of the ingredients

Put him back in the tomb bro
I created a new hairstyle for him and I am way too attached to ditch it
But also... Was the old look his hair? The markings on it being so perfect (on a non-special deity character) make it feel less like hair to me, could definitely be wrong though. Only found one post bringing it up, and one poll where most agreed it was a headpiece. Surprised there isn't atleast a few more things giving him a theoretical hairstyle.
SPOILERS FOR LEAKS AHEAD (even though you've probably seen them)
And ranting
One last thought, I feel like we might (keyword being might) finally get playable Smoked Cheese Cookie? The name of Ch.6 is "Army of Abundance" (or something like that), which gives me the vibe that the Golden Cheese Kingdom Cookies (or atleast the playable ones) will be revived.
Probably not, but I wanted to say it.
Anyway, I need to actually do a proper study on this guy, I am becoming way too delusional way too quickly
...
He tames and collects monsters tho, would totally love Pokémon. On that I will stay delusional
(also I think it's funny that this meme was originally made (atleast, the most famous format I've seen for it had been made) just before Gen 7 came out. The original was 17 PKMN theme songs, which according to Wikipedia was just before the Alola anime. Could be wrong, didn't do research past that. If you couldn't tell, this was made in school)

So, I saw this image on Facebook, and it was supposedly showing what Queen Nefertiti would have looked like in real life:
Tumblr media
Now, I thought this AI generated garbage was just truly terrible on a number of levels; first off, she looks wayyyyyy too modern - her makeup is very “Hollywood glamour”, she looks airbrushed and de-aged, and as far as I’m aware, Ancient Egyptians didn’t have mascara, glitter-based eyeshadows and lip gloss. Secondly, her features are exceptionally whitewashed in every sense - this is pretty standard for AI as racial bias is prevalent in feeding AI algorithms, but I genuinely thought a depiction of such a known individual would not exhibit such euro-centric features. Thirdly, the outfit was massively desaturated and didn’t take pigment loss into consideration, and while I *do* like the look of the neck attire, it's not at all accurate (plus, again, AI confusion on the detailing is evident).
So, this inspired me to alter the image on the left to be more accurate based off the sculpture’s features. I looked into Ancient Egyptian makeup and looked at references for kohl eyeliner and clay-based facial pigment (rouge was used on cheeks, charcoal-based powder/paste was used to darken and elongate eyebrows), and I looked at pre-existing images of Nefertiti, both her mummy and other reconstructions. While doing this, I found photos of a 3D scanned sculpture made by scientists at the University of Bristol and chose to collage the neck jewellery over the painting (and edited the lighting and shadows as best as I could).
Tumblr media
Something I see a lot of in facial recreations of mummies is maintaining the elongated and skinny facial features as seen on preserved bodies - however, fat, muscle and cartilage shrink/disappear post mortem, regardless of preservation quality; Queen Nefertiti had art created of her in life, and these pieces are invaluable to developing an accurate portrayal of her, whether stylistic or realistic in nature.
Tumblr media
And hey, while I don't think my adjustments are perfect (especially the neck area), I *do* believe it is a huge improvement to the original image I chose to work on top of.
I really liked working on this project for the last few days, and I think I may continue to work on it further to perfect it. But, until then, I hope you enjoy!
Remember, likes don't help artists but reblogs do!
