I’m two episodes into long way round and honestly the lack of planning is just stressing me out so much😭

While filming Long Way Down, in 2007, Ewan McGregor, Charley Boorman and their whole team had to quickly pass through Italy for them to reach their main goal : Africa.

Their trip through Italy shouldn't take more than a day, or two - I don't remember - because they had deadlines and a specific path to follow. However, as you see there, Ewan wanted more than anything to pass by the lake como.

Unfortunately for him, in the end, Ewan had to submit to rationality and they couldn't go through the famous lake.

What intrigues me though here is that even though we're more than 5 years after the filming of Attack of the Clones, Ewan's eyes still shine thinking of Lake Como, a place he wants to see at all costs even if they don't go that way and don't have the time.

But, if someone dear to his heart has told him a lot about it... Then everything makes sense😉

15. How many projects do you have going on right now? Are there any that you doubt you’ll ever finish?

Okay, I think I've got about...four serious projects going on right now. I've got the WWI WIP, a Korkie/Vader one shot, an OF novel, and...oh man, I know I've signed up for something.

Of these, there's no doubt to me that I'll finish them. There's a very clear switch in my head, and I don't tend to oscillate between possibilities. If I'm invested, I'll get back to it. If I lose interest, it's probably gone forever. I don't think........I don't think I've left anyone hanging? (maybe?)

26. What are your favourite books?

Ah! Yes! Oh my gosh, it's been so long since I've talked about books, and honestly, I kind of feel like I've forgotten so many. And it's been even longer since I've found a true new favourite.

My favourite book of all time is Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer (yes, the weirdo who left his wife to hook up with Natalie Portman only for her to be like, um, noooo?). That aside, this book is magical. It was his first so it's a little bit scrappy, which I like. There are multiple plots, multiple narrative voices, and styles, yet, in the chapter titled "Illumination," the connection between them is, well, illuminated. It's some of the best revelatory writing I've ever read. I laughed, I cried a lot. So good.

I also love Lord of the Rings (I think that's...no secret), which also emotionally destroyed me. It's the only ending to a story I've ever read that truly changed how I conceive of mortality, and I've never reconciled myself to it. Even though I think Tolkien is right, I have to viscerally, inevitably disagree with him. You know? The whole I am not resigned to the shutting away of loving hearts into the cold ground and all.

Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell. Stunning. I sobbed the whole second half. I think the way art is framed as legacy, and magic, and immortality is just so affecting and beautiful, and affirming.

Then we've got like, Barometer Rising by Hugh McLellan, Long Way Round by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman (I can't explain or excuse this, but I read it at a formative age and I think about Lake Baikal all the time), Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, Timeline by Michael Crichton, and, well, I think...Okay, I'm done lol!

ewan mcgregor and charley boorman’s long way round/down/up series is an underrated comfort show. firstly the nostalgia, because it reminds me of my dad watching long way round on sunday afternoons in the early 2000s but also just because of the travel and the lovely visuals and the details they go into with the logistics and the camaraderie

If JK buys a motorbike in Flux, what kind of bike would he gravitate towards to? Would it be a cruiser, cafe racer type or a sports bike? Personally I prefer vintage looking bikes like Honda Rebel, Triumph Bonneville, Moto Guzzi V7 etc. He would look so good riding them, so I guess R.I.P. to Sasha and us lol.

Life is so strange sometimes. A while ago, I started to get really interested in motorbikes, and then Flux JK started to say he'll get one 🥴 And I'm in loove with a travel documentary called Long Way Up, in which Ewan McGregor (one of my biggest crushes ever) and his friend Charley Boorman do a 3 months trip from Ushuai to LA on electric Harley Davidsons. Then I read Sasha saying they'll do a motorbike trip in South America and couldn't help but scream 🤣

I believe Flux jk would get what my Dad (who rides a Harley) calls a crotch rocket... a sports bike haha. Probably black. Punk jock seems like his style haha.

I won't say anythign else but... you're going to enjoy a future thing in the story! 😉

I'll have to check out that documentary though! That sounds cool! Some friends of mine did a trip through Europe and Africa that was cool except she had a crash and wound up having to get care-flighted from Africa back to the US for surgery and therapy... then they flew back to where they left off six months later haha. STILL it's so c ool. I wish I'd done an epic bike trip like that before I had kids.
