⌨ + This is Me
Babette chuckled before patting her nephew’s shoulder. “Looks like you got your hands full with that one, sugar.”
Parker groaned which made his aunt chuckle before she reached up and patted his cheek. “You’re a good boy, Parker. A good boy. A boy any mother would love to have around their daughter. Especially that mother.”
“Thank you, Aunt Babette,” he mumbled in embarassment. His aunt was always heckling him toward finally making a move on Charlie whom he had been crushing on since about as long as he could remember.
Babette enveloped her nephew in a tight hug. Parker awkwardly patted her on the back a few times. “Any time doll. Now I’ll let you two get going on your date . . . “
Parker stiffened. “It’s not a date, we’re just. . . “
“Friends? I know, I know.”
Parker sighed as his aunt released him.
“But she couldn’t do much better than a good boy like you, Parker. You remember that.”
Parker felt a blush creep on his cheeks. Thankfully he and his aunt were far enough away from the truck that Charlie shouldn’t have heard the conversation. But that didn’t stop her from sending confused glances his way. He looked at Charlie and shrugged his shoulders. Charlie tapped her wrist as if there were a watch there calling time.
“Bye you two! Have fun!” Babette called, pushing her nephew toward his truck before taking cover in her house once more.
Parker shook his head before he hopped back into his truck. He tossed the bag of cookies his aunt had given him for Charlie to catch. She easily caught them, but her curiosity got the better of her.
“What was all that about?” she asked.
“She - uh,” Parker stumbled on his words as he tried to back his truck out of the driveway. “She says I’m supposed to be nice share those with you.”
Charlie grinned before she opened the bag and plucked out a cookie, none the wiser of the true nature of Parker’s conversation with his aunt.
