WIP INTRODUCTION: The Vanishing act
Tumblr media
Progress: doing the outline. This isn't very high on my priority list
genre: mystery horror
themes: violence against women and other minorities, mental illness, also more when it is more solid
Tropes: mysteriously brooding anti hero, characters frozen in time, time loops, murder mysteries trough generations
content warnings: racism, murder, gore, many types of abuse, disturbing imaginery, suicide
Tumblr media
Plot:
Amanda Reimann was gaslighted ever since she was 5 years old. She was sure, so sure, that the car her mother had killed herself in 1995 had been empty when it burned down in flames. She was close to forgetting all of it through therapy and getting adopted by the parents of her close childhood friend the Reimann's.
All of her memories started flooding back in when the circus, one that always appeared once a year like magic, came again to Amanda's hometown the same night she heard her adopted sister had gone missing traveling with her sister's best friend. To Amanda's shock, that day's new performers were like copies of the missing girls, and their mentor was like a carbon copy to Amanda's mother the day she killed herself. When talking to, none of them seem to regonize Amanda.
Amanda sets out to figure out the mysterious Circus Moirai's fairground, with the help of Kenji Okura, her sister's best friend's father, who is a detective in the edge of getting fired, and Tobias Akerman, the only person that believed Amanda 20 years before.
Tumblr media
The investigators:
Amanda Reimann - the main character, birth name Amanda Martinsson. Paranoid young woman who for 20 years was lead to believe that her memories were only formed as a trauma response. Maybe a bit intense, but loving to her family, was it biological or not.
Tobias Akerman - Selene Martinsson's close friend and confidant. Has tried for 20 years to prove that Selene wouldn't kill herself, with dimishing results. A former boss in an agency whose first hire was Selene Martinsson, Tobias has ruined his promising life to give justice to his former associate, with every means necessary
Kenji Okura - father of Rea Okura. Kenji has always been a sceptic relying on hard facts, which come in handy with his job of being a private eye. He doesn't believe in anything supernatural, but he does believe in an hiher power, which he believes more than anything after Amanda Reimann shows him his missing daughter flying trought the air as a trapeze artist.
Tumblr media
Moirai's fairground performers:
M - The mysterious ringmaster. No one really knows his name, background, or even remember his face. They only remember his silky dark voice that you can almost hear everywhere in Moirai's fairground, and the piercing blue eyes that seem to be looking straight at you, even when you are in a crowd of thousands.
Selene - master of any animals. Selene's fantastical animals started in the 90s only with horses but has incorperated other animals to her number trough out the years. She has been the crowd favorite for ages because Selene's delicate beauty and the beautiful dancing she uses while performing. Many have described her dancing like "a flame in the cold night."
Sara - Sara is one of two first time performers in 2015 show. Agile young woman, she and her trapeze partner soar trough the sky like they have always done so, Sara being the more experienced one of the two.
Rea - Rea is one of two first time performers in 2015 show. Even tough Rea seems to slip on every show of her first night of the show, she is still a talented woman willing to grow and learn. And of course the skill is there, especially when you have your best friend helping you.
Charlotte - dance leader. In carge of any type of show other might say is "normal". She and her back up dancers do a dance number right in the middle of the show. Charlotte is the right hand woman of M, informing everything going on to M himself. She is blinded by her loyalty, which some might mistake as Charlotte loving M. Charlotte was just K's firt performer.
Vicki - the clown of the circus. Vicki is an interesting person with one of the oldest and loved performances of the circus. She is almost always wearing her clown outfit, but it always feels differently off every time you look at her. When you talk to her, you can feel the fun loving person inside, if you get pass the slightly crooked smile.
Bettie - The fiery personality fit for the person in charge of the fire performance show and the fireworks at the end of each performance. Snoopy personality, is most likely to come talk to you after the performance. She may seem fierce but her personality is a total sweetheart.
Claudia - the fortune teller, one of the few notable faces outside the tent, only occasionaly making performance in front of an audience. Quiet and stern person who seems to have power over K, as she is the only person whose small cart didn't have his precense around it.
Lucas - One of the few men performers, showing audiences the old school gun man performance magic. There doesn't seem to be a target Lucas couldn't miss, there are only those Lucas chooses not to. He has everything you want in a southern gentleman, a real southern gentleman.

Krispy Kreme is redesigning its stores for the first time in a decade – and making its menu even more sugary
Sugar might be falling out of favor, but it’s the centerpiece of a makeover of Krispy Kreme that includes a new menu and its first store redesign in a decade.
The doughnut company, founded 82 years ago, debuted a new location Tuesday in North Carolina that showcases Krispy Kreme’s new, extra-sweet menu. It features concoctions like doughnut-infused ice cream, milkshakes and a customizable toppings bar for the glazed doughnuts.
The makeover follows rival Dunkin’s debut of a modernized store and new menu items, like breakfast bowls, in a bid to attract more people. The expansion has worked and sales jumped 2.4% for the first quarter of this year.
The new Krispy Kreme store, which is a half hour east of Charlotte, is framed with a “stylistic wink” to its logo on the exterior. The interior has digital menu boards and an “enhanced doughnut theater experience” that shows how the doughnuts are made and glazed on a conveyer belt.
The menu is revamped. One of the new items is “scoop sandwiches,” a layer of ice cream with doughnuts in it, served between a sliced doughnut that can be topped with a variety of items, like vanilla, or chocolate. New milkshakes made from the doughnut ice cream can be topped, of course, with doughnuts, as well as toppings like Oreo bits.
The doughnuts themselves are getting an upgrade; customers will have the option to add five different glazes and ten toppings.
The company said the design is coming at a time of growth for the once-struggling chain. It plans to open 450 shops globally by the end of 2022. Of those, 45 new shops will be in the United States within the next year.
Krispy Kreme will also remodel its 350 stores in the United States. But each store might not be as elaborate as its North Carolina store because menu items and store features will vary depending on location and store size.
Krispy Kreme is building a new location in New York’s Times Square. It will be open 24 hours a day and include a glaze waterfall. It’s scheduled to open early next year.
The doughnut chain went private in 2016 when JAB Holdings bought it for $1.35 billion. The parent company, which is based in Luxembourg, was recently embroiled in controversy after it was discovered that the family that owns it said their Nazi ancestors used slave labor during World War II.
The Reimann family, which owns the controlling stake in JAB Holdings, said it donated €10 million, or $11 million, to a yet-undisclosed charity after a three-year investigation that it commissioned discovered details of their ancestors’ behavior.
JAB Holdings also owns Panera Bread, Pret A Manger and Einstein’s Bagels.

#mcb17 #rp17 #nachtrag - Politik = langweilig? ____ Note: The talk will be held in German and will not be translated into English. (hier: STATION-Berlin)

Dale Earnhardt Jr. had ‘eye-opening experience’ when he couldn’t race
NASCAR’s most popular driver missed 18 races last season recovering from a concussion.
With time comes perspective and as Dale Earnhardt Jr. has grown older and recently dealt with serious health concerns, perspective is something NASCAR’s most popular driver isn’t lacking.
“You do take your job for granted when you’re doing it every week,” Earnhardt said Wednesday on the second day of NASCAR’s preseason media tour in downtown Charlotte, N.C. “As a society, we get better and better at complaining. The drivers aren’t any different; we moan and complain about everything. But when you get a chance to step back and watch it … it was an eye-opening experience.”
Earnhardt missed the entire second of the 2016 season (18 races) with concussion suffered in a crash at Michigan International Speedway in June. It marked the third time the 42-year-old had sustained a concussion since 2012 and cast doubts whether he would continue racing. After an extensive rehabilitation program, Earnhardt was medically cleared to return to NASCAR in December and will be back in the Hendrick Motorsports No. 88 Chevrolet when the 2017 season begins with the Daytona 500 next month.
“Usually you kind of tell everybody Daytona will get here when it gets here, but I’m excited for the season,” Earnhardt said. “It can’t get here fast enough.
“Being out of the car you hope you can jump back in the car and not miss a beat. I’m really anxious and curious where we shake up early in the season, how competitive we can be, what -- if any -- learning curve there is for me. We’ll figure all that out.”
But while he was out of the car Earnhardt not only improved his health, he also gained that new outlook. He recognized he didn’t always appreciate those around them and often took some things for granted. An attitude brought about by watching the No. 88 team proceed without him with Alex Bowman and Jeff Gordon filling in, and how much he missed the close relationships he formed with his crew.
“I missed the camaraderie; that’s the one thing I’ll probably miss the most when I’m not racing is just the friendships and the inside the track,” Earnhardt said. “I have an awesome road crew, we’re all buddies, and we all communicate every day.
“That was something that was difficult to watch --someone else do in your place; certainly jealous of Jeff and Alex working with my guys. At the same time, I was happy for Alex and glad Jeff was available. You definitely were wishing it was you in there getting the work.”
And it’s those connections Earnhardt says he will miss the most when he retires. His contract expires at the end of the season and he and team owner Rick Hendrick were working on an extension before he was sidelined. The two have not reopened negotiations but both sides have said they want their partnership to continue, and Earnhardt has indicated he’s not ready to walk away -- though he understands his career closer to the end then the beginning.
“Just hoping to enjoy what’s left of my career,” Earnhardt said. “Hopefully, I get to make the decisions on that myself as far as how much further I’ll race.
“Going to start a family, too, so have a lot of good things to look forward to. Really excited about my future.”
A significant part of Earnhardt’s optimism is his marriage to Amy Reimann in a New Year’s Eve ceremony at a North Carolina winery owned by Richard Childress, the longtime car owner for Earnhardt’s late father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., who was killed on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500.
Marriage was something Earnhardt long eschewed, but after beginning a relationship with Reimann in the fall of 2008, his mindset gradually evolved. Now, it’s something he wishes he would’ve done sooner.
“Getting married has been incredible,” Earnhardt said. “I’m frustrated with myself that I took so long to grow up because I have an amazing wife and she’s changed my life.
“She’s really helped me as a person to become better on all fronts -- personally, and all my friendships with people and how I react to people and treat people. And, obviously, in my professional life she’s helped me as a driver. It’s been great.”

“Iron Buchblogger” – das ist nichts Martialisches oder gar lebensgefährlich. Im August 2013 setzten die beiden Buchaktivisten Charlotte Reimann und Leander Wattig die Idee um, “eiserne” Buchblogger miteinander zu vernetzen. Vorlage war das Konzept der Ironblogger, das allerdings mehr auf feuchtfröhlichen Grundfesten ruht…
