Some important terms to keep in mind:

Element; each sign falls under one the four elements—fire, water, ground, and air. Fire and water are the two most powerful and potentially detrimental forces of nature. Ground and air can be equally powerful but are more-so chain reactions and/or catalysts to fire and/or water.

Associated Animals; This is heavily debatable and interpreted like everything else, but generally speaking Native American tribes (and through internet research alone it doesn't specify what tribes actually follow this) associate each zodiac with an animal totem. Leo is represented by The Salmon Totem (how silly!!!!)

Big Three; when people talk about their zodiacs they will often refer to "the Big Three," which references your Sun (identity), Moon (emotions), and Rising (your ascended state of consciousness.) There are 24 houses in a full natal chart—I myself tend to focus on the big three, Venus, Mars, and Lilith, but each planet has a placement in your chart, as well as there being 12 houses that show how these placements play into each other. I am only really just starting to get deeper into astrological study so I am still researching and learning about the other planets such as Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto and how they affect different parts of your personality, but all of them are still very important and I implore you to look into them too to learn even more about your strengths and weaknesses!

Modalities; each sign falls into a modality which details feminine, masculine, or androgynous traits of the signs.

☀️ The sun sign, what most people call "their zodiac" tells us about our identity and role in the universe. Your sun is in Leo, the fixed, powerfully present, 5th masculine fire sign. Leos are represented by a lion; and although lions are culturally associated with leadership and strength, the constellation itself depicts the big cat on its hind legs with his paws in the air, batting at the surrounding Cancer to the east and Virgo to the west, indicating a less fierce and more playful nature. On the opposing side, God's son is depicted as being all-forgiving, and associated with fish, wine, holy water, etc, because Jesus has something that God does not, and that is half of humanity. This is all a long round about way of saying, it is commonly believed (but not without controversy, considering some sects disparage astrology as being satanic) at least in the Old Testament, that God would be a Leo, Mother Mary a Virgo, and Jesus a Pisces (there's more on this of course, considering Catholics and Western Christian sects celebrate December 25th Christmas, which would make Jesus a Capricorn, but Eastern Orthodox Christianity/Judaism/Old Testament's calendar would have Jesus born in Pisces season...)

Domesticated cats, they say, are not quite domesticated—not like dogs at least. Dogs were trained and bred to be companions to humans. Cats, on the other hand, formed a symbiotic relationship with humans in the sense of "oh cool house you got. I'm gonna move in and eat the pests in it for you" and humans were like "aight." But regardless, all cats come from big felines—lions, tigers, lynx, jaguar, cheetah, etc. etc... The reverse side is true. While it is not advised (if you are in a country that has big cats) to go up to a lion and go "here kitty, kitty!!!" and try to touch it, many big cats will generally leave people alone unless they feel threatened, and in fact, purr like house cats, play like a house cat would, and lick and groom their pack members like a house cat might do to a human or another kitty/pet they trust. All of this is to say that while Leos can be known for intimidation and hostility and temperament, they are also more well known for spunkiness, performance, positive and silly energy, and overall friendliness. Just don't keep bothering them when they start hissing and puffing up!

🌙 The moon tells us our deepest emotions and how we react in times of stress or conflict. Your moon is in Virgo, the Mutable, Grounded Virgin Mother. This is an extremely powerful placement to have in your big three, as the Virgo transcends several religions as to why she does what she does. "Hail Mary full of grace..... OK I FINALLY GOT TIME SO this is probably gonna be a series of asks if Tumblr decides to limit my characters (i dont feel comfy coming off anon in the tt community sorry)

First we gotta talk about the Cogs since all of the gag/reward stuff is gonna have to be based on them

.Exes and .Mgrs were a very welcome change. .Exes instantly give every battle some variety in requiring you to think to take them down instead of memorizing a chart of which combos wipe a group (fuck Zap Camp too btw), and .mgrs were a much needed shakeup, away from the 4 main bosses which got repetitive as hell, that allow just about all the gags and prestiges to shine in some way

Skelecogs and Virtuals in the same way as .exes force you to be on your toes thanks to the varied hp and debuff resistance, virtuals in particular being a good choice for the OCLO, sorry v2.0s but you're boring

Cogs do more damage in general, which emphasizes either taking them all out or stunning them, and Content Sync definitely helps with that. Even with how controversial it was at the start, it was a good choice

Cogs have proper scaling AND HAVE LEVELS HIGHER THAN 12 FINALLY TTR WAS SO BAD AT THIS AND THEY DONT EVEN LET YOU SEE THE NUMBERS WHY TTR MUST YOU BE LIKE THIS

Level 7s, while I miss Railroad my beloved, were really badly done and limited where the game could go

LURE COMBO BONUS SUCKS DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-

Ahem.

Toon-Up: As stated, Cogs deal much more damage, so TU has much more use, especially in .mgrs. The self heal was also something that shouldve been in the game forever ago, and not just relegated to a prestige. At least the Prestige makes you heal even more now. However, TU MISSING was a shit idea on TTO's part because it was the only way they could get Toons to go sad in the sound spammy lure left kill right meta if everything missed. Now you might be forced to take damage, so your cannon missing would be a death sentence. Thank god they removed that early on in 1.3. also the accuracy buff is AN INTENDED MECHANIC THANK GOD

Trap: Trap FINALLY HAS USE CASES OUTSIDE OF LIKE LAWFICES. First off, it's an .exe killer. The hard counter to them. Bye bye mr .exe. And then Clash gave it Dazed, which made Trap/Drop an intended strat too. But also it's just BIG NUMBER. The Prestige is EVEN BIGGER NUMBER. This means you can oneshot even really big Cogs with like a prestige trapdoor where TTR wouldve needed an organic (also bad) TNT

Lure: Yeah Lure Decay was bad but they learned in 1.3, and instead we have a much better system with the per-gag knockback, which lets you deal even more damage with each throw or squirt gag you use, where instead of a hypno doing the same 50% total base damage as a $10 bill, $10 bills do more damage than hypnos. I legit almost stopped carrying 10 bills in clash entirely and went with like 15 magnets instead UNTIL they changed it like that. Also, using a Group Lure with a Single Lure actually synergizes well, especially with Throw setups in like OCLO, since the damage values vary, you can lure and IOU (more on that later) both, with your main target getting a 50 bill, before nuking them with 4 throws, for at least 400 extra damage (460 with prestige!), ON TOP OF THE ADDED COMBO DAMAGE SINCE LURE KNOCKBACK COUNTS FOR IT NOW BY THE WAY. In comparison to TTR which actually nerfed the most useless Organic. And again, I must stress this: LURE BONUS SUCKS DIIIIIIIIIII-

Throw: I'll admit, when I saw it in the QA patch notes, I was hesitant to say the least, but THROW SWAPPING WITH SOUND CHANGES SO MUCH. First off, NO MORE "you lure and throw, ill wedding *uses bike horn*" GREENING. Second: THROW IS JUST SO GOOD AS A DAMAGE DEALER. Combined with the lure changes above, you can deal insane damage to .mgrs with it and Lure. You could probably do an entire Litigation Team with just Lure TU and Throw if you wanted. But it doesn't stop there. Something i neglected to mention is how ALMOST EVERY GAG HAS A UTILITY ATTACHED TO IT. Throw's is a 10% damage vulnerability, and it allows you to do so much. Fun fact tho, it used to have that damage vulnerability as a Prestige, and it scaled with each throw used, but only for 1 turn, and this was when throw was second to last, so it was only really useful for Drop. Now only one person needs to use it and it affects EVERYTHING past it. Got a higher level cog in the mix with some easily soundable ones? Just hit it with a cream, and now it takes even more damage! Just soaked and trapped a .mgr for the accuracy boosts on drop? Add one more debuff to boost Prestige Drop even more (with a free stun!)! AND THEN you add the cherry on top of the Wedding Cake, the self heal prestige. This was absolutely a welcome change, taking some of the heat off of TU and unites as your only healing, to the point that I'd say you should always have your Throw Prestiged. My only complaint is that Toons should take a bite out of it and say "Om nom nom" to heal before throwing it if it's prestige.

Squirt: Squirt in TTR, Throw's crappier brother. Squirt in Clash? Oh man. I'll go more into it in Zap's section, but Zap alone gives Squirt so much use. On its own though, it's still very good. Soaking is good as a dodge debuff, setting up for quick drops on Cogs. But the SINGLE change that made Squirt so good is Splash Damage. Before 1.3, Squirt soaking multiple Cogs was stuck behind a Prestige, so you were basically forced to either run Pres Squirt or don't run it at all. Now, however, not only can you soak multiple Cogs, but it deals free, non-unluring damage to the Cogs on the sides! You can effectively just chip away at a lured Cog until you're ready to take it down, which like the Throw/Sound example above, allows you to lower the Cogs to juuuust enough in just the right way to where a specific Sound threshold kills. Unfortunately, Prestige Squirt kinda gets the short end of the stick, since unless you're running a solo building, you kinda don't need it for most situations. idk what they could do to fix that tho, it's still fine on its own, just usually overkill.

Zap: And now, the thing that singlehandedly both gave Squirt a purpose and alienated a ton of TTR elitists for the better or worse. Before 1.3, Zap was fuckin weird. Zap could change direction, but only if it was prestiged, jump over other cogs including dead ones, there was no jump pool, just a specific set of 3 decreasing numbers correlating to the order it jumped to, which led to charts getting made for specific groups- it was a lot to take in. Those who were able to master it were REALLY GOOD at taking down groups, but were also pretty toxic usually (hence the "fuck Zap Camp" comment earlier). Also, it was the same as Squirt: either run it prestiged or not at all, which fed into the toxicity even more. Now though? It's pretty good. It can be a few different things, a decent AoE on 3 Cogs with lower damage on 2 of them, high damage on 2 Cogs, with some thought into aiming based on prestiges (for unprestige, aim directly at the target, for prestige, aim at the opposite target for more damage), or a kill confirm on an already soaked Cog. It's way more user friendly now, and I will say seeing Zap Camp's charts be completely ruined gave me a little schadenfreude. Sorry, this was a little community ranty, I again have bad experiences with some of the older members.

Sound: SOUND IS NO LONGER META. I REPEAT, SOUND IS NO LONGER META. This comes down to Squirt/Zap being good AoE, as well as 2 more changes to Sound itself: 1. Sound swapped with Throw in the gag order (from 1.2 and back, not tto), and 2. Encore and Winded. First, the swap makes it to where if you're using Sound on Lured Cogs, it's less likely to troll, but for a specific reason. And even if it is to troll, there's ways to get around it better, since Throw and Squirt won't be affected now. And then we have Encore and Winded, two sides of the same coin. It's great to use your Encore bonus to deal tons of damage to a single Cog, but you could always risk being winded to take out an even bigger group now at the expense of having to wait to use sound again. This alternating pattern of Sound into anything else, along with the fact that Sound can't just wipe out everything in the game now makes sure Sound isn't necessary to beat most things. It's still kinda meta for Buildings and Facilities, but those are kinda harder to fix. Oh, also the prestige is the same as Trap, bigger number is better.

Drop: Oh boy, another gag with a tumultuous history. I'll go over this in the IOU section (yes im doing rewards), but to be Barry Brief, in the early days of Clash, Drop had a bug that made it do AoE damage, which some toxic players abused to hell and back, cramming Drop into the top spot of gags, before being squashed in the 1.2 OCLO update. As for Drop now, it's a really nice damage dealer. Not so much for normal bosses, where it's typically just a finisher for a big Cog, but for .mgrs it can be devastating given enough setup. Trap, Lure, Squirt, and either TU for accuracy or IOU for damage, then Throw and 3 Drop. Now, if you were running Unprestige Drop, it would only get a slight boost thanks to Throw, and the other gags the turn before were just to make sure it hit. But slap a Prestige on, and a single debuff adds 10% damage, with an extra 5% for each additional debuff, with Throw's vulnerability counting as a debuff, which STACKS with the Prestige boost, so those two turns just got you an additional 20%, on top of what Throw adds on the pile. And then consider Drop has a 30% combo multiplier instead of the usual 20% combo damage, and .mgrs start dying quickly. Most .mgr fights I do, I run Prestige Drop.

And now, onto the rewards.

IOUs: So before 1.3, we still had SOS cards, but these were the trickiest reward to balance, even more than Unites. On the underpowered side, we had the 1.2 SOS: a percentage increase for 2 TURNS. PERIOD. Wanted to setup for Drop? You better do it quick, because if Drop misses on that second turn youre SoL. Not that it'd matter because for a lot of gags it did jack. But then we have the other, darker side. The ORIGINAL SOS CARDS. If you played TTO or TTR, you already know how busted those things were. But do you remember that bug I mentioned making Drop an AoE gag? This is where it originated. SOS Cards inherited the Combo damage dealt to a single Cog and gave it to the rest of the Cogs as well, so you could potentially deal a ton of damage to multiple Cogs just by nuking one with Combo damage and using an SOS to spread it out. Do you remember Rain, that random IOU you get guaranteed in the VP that gives you and a friend a +15 damage boost on your next turn? Yeah they used to be a simple 20 damage Drop SOS you could get (and farm) from Derrick Man. You know, in TTC. Who at the time had only 63 HP, enough for an Opera pre-1.3 to kill in one hit. All that's left is an incentive to use Drop en masse... Oh? Old Drop had increasing Combo damage for every Drop gag used, up to 50%? And every Prestige Drop used added an additional 5% Combo damage, up to 70% with 4 Prestige Drops, or 65% with one person using an SOS? You can probably see where this is going. The only thing holding it back was the fact that it wasnt guaranteed to hit- OH WAIT TOONS HIT EXISTS IN ITS ORIGINAL FORM STILL. It was bad. Like "anyone who deviates from the Meta is bad" bad. I was one such very vocal dissenter of Team Drop, advocating that Throw was a good gag, and I got shit on hard for it, to the point where the people who still had a grudge long after fabricated false accusations and threw me out. Ugh this got too personal, sorry. Where were we? Oh yeah, IOUs! They're pretty good now! The fact that they use flat numbers and last a set amount of GAGS used means that setups are easier than ever, and even if you miss, you can still use it again with the boost! They're good for pumping out big numbers! They also affect things like Throw self heal and Splash Damage, so keep those in mind too! I personally like using a Sid Sonata after firing the first Cog after feeding round in CEOs to save on operas.

Unites: I have mixed feelings on how Unites were handled, but I'll save that for the Forges section. As for Toon-Up Unites in their current state, they're pretty good! The Cooldown is honestly a needed nerf (so much so that TTR has it now lmao), and the fact it's percentage based means the heals are more fair! (though if someone is really underlaffed for a fight, they might still get squashed even with a unite). Pretty gud!

Forges: Rest in Peace, Gag-Up Unites. You were so slept on. Forges are the worse version of Gag-Up Unites. Instead of everyone getting their gags restocked, even by a little at the expense of you specifically getting a decently sized cooldown, you can only restock a single gag at a time, and if that gag is too high, you get put on cooldown. Why. In a vacuum, they're ok, but it just feels wrong. They could have left Gag-Up Alls in the pool and kept them how they were with only level 7s or lower, but no, ALL GAG-UP UNITES MUST GO apparently.

Sues: honestly better than fires, imo. Let me explain. Both Sues and fires remove a Cog from the fight. "But wait!" You say. "Sues dont remove a cog from the fight, they just make a Cog not attack!" In theory, yes, that's all they do. But because they don't attack, they're basically out of the fight. However, they aren't OUT of the fight, meaning they take up a slot. And because they take up a slot, that means you can just ignore it and focus on the other 3 that are there. And guess which gags work very well with 3 Cogs instead of 4. Just remember to give them a tap every now and then and they won't ever bother you. Also iirc theyre meta to deal with oclo phase 1 lmao. However some fights don't let you use them as much, so be careful.

Fires: Despite what I just said, Fires are still really good. It's just their uses are more limited. The main examples I can think of are the first Cog after feeding round in CEO, as stated earlier, the Featherbedder fight, and Major Player's Dance Partners. Killing a Cog instantly is still killing a Cog instantly, after all.

WHEW that was a long one, sorry for the personal bits, I just wanted to share my thoughts on Clash's balance for a long time, and I'm glad I finally got to do so. Clash is in a much better state than it's ever been, and I can't wait to see how things are shaken up later.

This is a lot to take in and I love it, some gags and rewards just used to be broken like woah?? It's nice to see how much progress Corporate Clash has really went through all these years to balance the game out to become as fun and good as it is today

I was curious about those Gag-Ups after seeing them from a Multislacker fight stream just a year ago because I didn't know they were still around at 1.3, too bad they don't exist anymore 'cause they would be very useful in longer fights such as with Pace (round wise) and Chip. Maybe there's a good reason for the removal balance wise... hopefully

The SOS cards was something I was wondering about too after hearing someone say a long while ago that they wished those were still around, based on this I can see why they were removed though

Also I don't mind the personal tangents at all, I love hearing about the details of personal experiences and opinions as it puts it on perspective on how things were back then as well as adding to my own knowledge of it. Thank you for the very long info dump :]

The Boondocks #28: “The Story of Gangstalicious Part 2” | February 4, 2008, - 11:30PM | S02E13

A follow-up to the first Gangstalicious episode. In this episode, we find out that RIley has continued to be in touch with Gangstalicious, who sends Riley free CDs and other merch all the time. It’s evident (and eventually confirmed) that the reason for this is he’s effectively sending Riley these care packages as a hush payment. The punchline from the first episode (Riley in extreme denial about Gangstalicious’ sexuality, that is) carries over to this one; Riley just thinks they’re good friends and still believes that he hallucinated Gangstalicious’ doing a big gay kiss on the lips with another fella.

Ganstalicious has a song called “Homies over Hoes” which is tearing up the charts. In fact, Gangsatlicous has never been hotter. He even debuts his fashion line on Regis and Kelly, which is just ridiculously gay stuff. Riley, still oblivious, proudly wears the gay guy stuff, while Grandad panics about his grandson becoming a gay dude. Riley stays in denial, even in the face of a tell-all book written by a woman who was rebuffed by Gangstalicious for being gay reasons. Eventually, Riley confronts Gangstalicious and asks him point blank if he’s gay. Gangstalicious still denies it, and Riley wholeheartedly accepts his denial at face value. And that’s the end.

This is a really funny one, but it may not be to some people’s tastes. The harsh gay panic on display from some of the characters will come off outdated or just unfunny to plenty. It’s important to note that this was an era when I think most gay-panic comedy was written with some degree of irony, or at the very least it was presented that way after the fact by a lot of creatives who weren’t done going to the gay jokes well. It’s, of course, absurd to be homophobic, which is why it’s funny when we write a character calling another person gay, that kind of thing. Nevermind they are reaping the benefits of having chucklheads from the midwest just taking those jokes at face value and enjoying them wholeheartedly. 

A lot of these jokes are weaponized now for various battles in modern culture wars. I have a distaste for anyone taking stuff like the “You know how I know you’re gay?” scene from The 40 Year Old Virgin and balling up their fists in outrage either that those jokes ever existed or that current movies aren’t telling jokes exactly those ones anymore. Please just let being gay or trans be normal. I promise, it’s much more important than being able to see gay jokes in new movies. You can still watch this episode on HBOMax right now and laugh at it in the privacy of your own home, if you want. We don’t need the same gay jokes that were told about Michael Jackson to be told again about [I literally have no idea who to put here, sorry!]. 

But basically, yes, the only truly sympathetic character here might be Gangsalicious himself, who has to continue living a lie. Riley is homophobic because he’s a dumb kid. Granddad is homophobic because he’s an old stupid man. Thugnificent and his crew are homophobic because they are cowardly, literally seen shaking and hiding from the gay man at their doorstep they originally agreed to collab with. Huey is even guilty in this episode because he might directly benefit from Riley’s perceived gayness and get his own room. This episode accurately reflects a time when being homophobic was just the easiest path. 

I’m probably giving the episode too generous of a read here. I have no clue how Aaron mcgruder feels about gay people. I personally don’t know how actually homophobic the jokes are meant to be. The disclaimer at the start is rather coarse, and if that’s the only thing we have to go on then this episode probably deserves some flack. But I thought the episode was funny, and it might be in part due to the mental gymnastics I did to make it reflect my own feelings a little more. And at the end of the day, aren’t my own delusions the most important thing in the entire world?

What are your top 5 must listen khiphop albums for a beginner?

This is a GREAT question! I was gonna take a nap but I'm gonna stay up a bit longer to answer it so hopefully I can sleep better after it's off my mind lol. Anyway, thanks for asking.

NOTE: This is gonna be long so I'm gonna add a "keep reading"

There has to be at LEAST one Changmo album: Getting Money Moment, DNSG, Boyhood, or Underground Rockstar. He also has Motown but I feel like his most loved songs (besides "Maestro" and a few others) come from one of those albums. I think DNSG is Changmo's best album overall. However, Getting Money Moment was kind of his breakthrough after Maestro in my opinion cause I think that's the one he released right after signing to Ambition. Also, I feel like it has a well rounded assortment of songs as far as style. Boyhood is a SUPER important album in Khiphop though because it was really commercially successful. "Meteor" did really well on Melon and went #1. I think the album went #1 for a short amount of time too. I haven't confirmed with the Melon chart BUT there is a Twitter account that posts chart positions and they have a tweet about Boyhood reaching #1. I'm inclined to believe that account because they have been doing chart data for a long time. Then finally, if someone is getting into Khiphop JUST this year, then I'd highly recommend Underground Rockstar because it's basically the most influential album this year since it won every category it was nominated in at the KHAs, particularly "Album of the Year". So it's just really important to this year as well as the end of last year. I think they'd have to listen to AT LEAST one of these albums. I'm not a fan of all the songs on all of these albums BUT I do think each one has some really good Changmo songs so it'd be up to them to choose. But potentially all 4 of them if they found themselves interested in Changmo.

2. DPR Live - Coming to You Live I think we're definitely gonna be looking back on this one as a classic in terms of Khiphop. Plus, I think this is like "Getting Money Moment" in the sense that it gives you a good view of what DPR Live is about. Every song is solid which is pretty hard to do. I also think DPR Live is pretty palatable for fans. He's not too experimental but he's also unique and not really like anyone else in Khiphop. Very talented and high quality work as well. 3. Super Bee - Original Gimchi I recommended this one over Rap Legend or either of his newer albums because I feel like its a really good balance between good songs (meaning catchy, trendy, "mainstream") and good rapping (not necessarily as catchy or easy to follow along with especially if you are more of a "pop" (not just "k" but in general) fan to begin with). I feel like a lot of the albums I've recommended so far have that balance. In addition, I think this album will tell you whether or not you're gonnaI also feel consistent presence in KHH that's always gonna be there in the background. Also, he's a CEO of a label so I think that alone is gonna make him really important in the coming years. Homies is doing well but I also think going forward, Super Bee is gonna find even more talents that will get to a high level.

4. Coogie - UP! These last few years Coogie has really cemented himself as one of the breakthroughs in Khiphop. I feel like Coogie is always at this really weird place where he has quite broken into the top rappers but he's always this close. I really feel like Coogie is really at the edge of a breakthrough and eventually he's gonna get a song that does crazy good in Korea ("Good Night" as well as "SaimSaim" did well on Melon but I'm talking about like "Meteor" levels so without any SMTM backing but also a lot higher than "Good Night" even though GN still did really well). He's got a really solid body of work. He's really consistent. I think anybody new needs to be somewhat acquainted with Coogie.

5. Sik-K - H.A.L.F Sik-K has a nice body of work but I feel like this was kinda the one that really cemented him as important + a star in Khiphop. party(shut down) is still pretty much his most listened to song on an album ("iffy" is most listened to on Apple Music but it wasn't on a album). I think of it (and "Iffy" too tbh) to be one of the Khiphop modern classics (I know that sounds like a really annoying and pompous phrase to use but idk how else to describe it lol). Basically, one of those songs that if it comes on the whole club or concert just goes crazy cause its one of THOSE songs.

Personally, I think 2017 and 2018 were VERY important years for the current state of KHH. Almost all of the really big artists we have now, started to hit their stride/get their big break around those years. So I think it's important that any beginner starts around that time. Also, I would just recommend these albums just because it's really rare in this day and age to have an album that's solid all the way around. Not all of these albums are perfect in my opinion but I think they are all really solid bodies of work as opposed to having like 1 or 2 good songs.

Also, I don't think Super Bee would be as necessary to this list as the others on it. He's more just because I think he's solid. But I feel like he holds this really weird place in KHH. Like he's really successful and has a lot of accolades but somehow he also seems weirdly behind the scenes. I think maybe he's just a lot more lowkey in recent years? IDK how to explain it. It's kinda weird. I don't wanna say he's underrated cause I think that's a bit much but...idk LOL. I also think Super Bee is a good middle ground between "mainstream" and "not (as) mainstream" type of sound.

Honorable mentions: All of the SMTM compilation albums so I think 6 and 9 have one but not the other seasons. But I do think it would do a new fan well to at least listen to all the SMTM songs from 4 and on. Might be able to skip 8 although I wouldn't just because of the exposure to artists (lots of SMTM8 people I think are still up and comers who might end up proving themselves to be important in coming years. Oh and then Big Naughty who is already really important tbh.). I think with 3, checking out Bobby would suffice as other seasons of SMTM would introduce you to the major players on SMTM3 better.

Post-AGT Appearance 1276: Keep Going with Homie Jay WATV 94.9 fm November 15

Demon Dress would still be at $199 million domestic after last weekend but $255 million international. Man of my Dreams would have stayed at 3 in heavy traffic until dropping to 4 last weekend. Canadian Wildfires would have started dropping after a high of 63 on the country charts. It would still be sinking in the pop charts.

Judge Maryanne Trump Bailey would have joined the top 100 in 2019 but dropped out in 2020. I would so far have avoided saying anything about her.

Scott would have dropped out but Pence would still be in the presidential race.

At 12:01 this morning The Best of the Ranting Old Man album would have come out. No one would be in much of a hurry to play anything on the radio. Some of the jokes would be exactly as posted here, mostly in 2015. The first person to play any new material on the radio or tv would be Jerome Crompton of WATV fm 94.9, an urban station in Alabama. He hosts a show called Keep Going with Homie Jay from 10 am to noon and would play the joke between commercials at about 11: 30 eastern time.

Ranting Old Man: We just finished a tour of the south. I was there in Alabama before, back when I 2was a migrant worker during the depression. I picked cotton for 2 years and Fitzsimmons the third year. Things are a whole lot different in Alabama now. They let black folks drive.

(which I didn't start doing again until this last month or so, why I stopped? I don't know I was hypomanic-manic from OCT 2021 up to a majority of 2022; and got caught up in life that I forgot to mood journal. Coolio, ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ Rapper, Dies at 59

From a bookish, asthmatic child to mainstream hitmaker, the West Coast M.C. charted a distinctive path to hip-hop stardom.

Coolio, the rapper whose playful and sometimes gritty takes on West Coast rap and anthemic hits like “Gangsta’s Paradise” made him a hip-hop star in the 1990s, died on Wednesday in Los Angeles. He was 59.

His longtime manager, Jarez Posey, said he was told that Coolio died at a friend’s house. No cause was given.

Coolio, whose legal name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr., achieved mainstream superstardom and critical success with “Gangsta’s Paradise” in 1995. A grim, minor-key track that featured the singer L.V. and drew on Stevie Wonder’s 1976 song “Pastime Paradise,” it spent three weeks atop Billboard’s Hot 100 and was named the chart’s No. 1 song of the year.

It also won the Grammy for best rap solo performance in 1996 and was later certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, outshining the movie it was featured in, the high school drama “Dangerous Minds.”

“Coolio still builds his raps on recognizable 1970s oldies, and he delivers intricate, syncopated rhymes as if they were conversation,” Jon Pareles wrote in an album review in The New York Times, noting that “Gangsta’s Paradise” uses “the somber minor chords” of Mr. Wonder’s “Pastime Paradise.” Coolio told Rolling Stone that he had cleared the usage through a family connection — his wife knew one of Mr. Wonder’s brothers — with the stipulation that the song couldn’t contain any profanity. Mr. Wonder received a writing credit.

Another 1995 movie, the comedy “Clueless,” gave Coolio another crossover moment. His song “Rollin’ With My Homies” was on the soundtrack, and its hook, beloved by the character Tai — the desperate-to-be-hip new girl played by Brittany Murphy — is a running joke in the film.

Coolio’s other hits included “Fantastic Voyage” — the opening song on his debut album, “It Takes a Thief,” released in 1994 — and “1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New)” from the “Gangsta’s Paradise” album, released the next year. Both albums were nominated for Grammys. “C U When U Get There,” which is based on Pachelbel’s Canon, a Baroque-era standard, was a standout track on Coolio’s third album, “My Soul,” from 1997.

But nothing could match the success of “Gangsta’s Paradise” — a song that, with its piercing production and ominous background vocals, became instantly distinguishable for millions of 1990s rap fans, especially with a memorable opening verse based on Psalm 23:

“As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I take a look at my life and realize there’s nothin’ left.”

While Coolio lamented that his hit had overshadowed his other work, he told PopkillerTV in 2018 that the song had taken him on “a great ride.” Its popularity has endured for decades; the music video has garnered a rare billion-plus views on YouTube.

Artis Leon Ivey Jr. was born on Aug. 1, 1963. He grew up in Compton, Calif., in Los Angeles County, a place known for producing some of hip-hop’s most successful artists, including Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar.

He told The Independent in 1997 that as a child he would play board games with his single mother, to whom he later dedicated his success. After a turbulent youth — a bookish, asthmatic child, he became a teenage gang member, juvenile offender and drug addict — Coolio worked as a volunteer firefighter.

In his 20s, he moved to San Jose to live with his father and fight fires with the California Department of Forestry. He became more spiritual there and later credited Christianity for helping him overcome his addiction to crack.

As he embarked on a music career, Coolio joined a growing wave of West Coast hip-hop that was increasingly becoming mainstream; it had surged in national popularity as MTV, radio stations and major labels came to embrace this once-regional underground sound. After performing with the group WC and the Maad Circle alongside WC, Sir Jinx and DJ Crazy Toones, he went solo.

Coolio signed to Tommy Boy Records, the independent rap label known for releases by De La Soul, Naughty by Nature and Queen Latifah, which had partnered with Warner Bros. Records a decade earlier to expand its commercial reach.

Building off the gangster rap and G-funk sounds and images of N.W.A, Ice-T, Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg, Coolio gained a following by combining his credibility with a willingness to appeal to a broad audience by means of softened language, dance tracks, recognizable samples and other nods to past hits.

A Spin review of the “Gangsta’s Paradise” album in 1996 called it “great pop music” and “the most stylistically broad mainstream rap album you’ll probably hear all year.”

“Coolio presents himself as an entertainer,” the magazine added, “one who projects an unhinged personality while creating solidly commercial sounds.”

“Gangsta’s Paradise” had board cultural impact, even spawning a Weird Al Yankovic parody, “Amish Paradise,” which replaced the streets with farm country, offering lyrics about churning butter and selling quilts.

The scale of the original song’s success awed its creator. Coolio told Rolling Stone that he was on tour in Europe when he realized that “I was No. 1 all over the entire planet — not just in the States. I was No. 1 everywhere that you can imagine.”

On Wednesday, the rapper Ice Cube recalled Coolio’s hard-earned rise, writing on Twitter that he had witnessed “first hand this man’s grind to the top of the industry.”

Coolio, known for his spindly and sprouting cornrows, went on to sell 4.8 million albums in the United States, according to Luminate, the tracking service formerly known as Nielsen Music.

The year after his big hit topped the charts, he wrote and performed the theme song for “Kenan & Kel,” a Nickelodeon staple in the late 1990s starring the future “Saturday Night Live” comedian Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. Coolio later became a recurring presence on reality TV, appearing in shows like “Coolio’s Rules,” a 2008 series that focused on his personal life and his quest to find love in Los Angeles.

He had four children with Josefa Salinas, whom he married in 1996 and later divorced. A complete list of survivors was not immediately available.

In 2009, Coolio pleaded guilty to drug possession and went to a rehabilitation program. In 2016, he pleaded guilty to a felony firearms charge after a loaded gun was found in his carry-on bag at an airport.

Coolio, who struggled with asthma all his life, served as the spokesman for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, according to his official online biography. At a 2016 performance in Brooklyn, he had an asthma attack and was saved by a fan who had an inhaler, Page Six reported.

Coolio had in recent years become aware of his place in hip-hop history. He said in 2018 that after long lamenting his struggles in the music industry, he came to understand that “people would kill to take my place.”

“I’m sure after I’m long gone from this planet, and from this dimension,” he said, “people will come back and study my body of work.”

It's also not an endless ride of up and down whip-lash inducing angst/happiness like another BDSM fic that we discussed on the Care of Magical Shippers discord... I think there's angst but it's mostly just really hot smut and witnessing Harry and Draco build their relationship. So when I saw it had a sequel that the author is working through, I hit subscribe SO FAST. I just saw they finished Seven Sins, so I paused writing this for like 4 hours to finish reading it. Best thing I've done all week.

💯 I answered this already, but let's be real there's always more than one fic that makes us feel this way so I'll give you another one! Eternally Consistent by kitsunealyc - Homie has a GD CHART at the end of the fic detailing what happened each day because there's some serious time fuckery within and that was the only way to keep it all straight in their head as they wrote. This was another one where I was like fuckdammit, I wish I were this imaginative!!! I'm pretty organized in my writing but that chart was just next level, y'all.

📚 Little Deaths and How to Avoid Them (or Draco Malfoy's Guide to Stop Dying and Start Living Instead) by dustmouth, nerakrose - Not gonna lie, this fic changed my life. Asexuality was a word and not something tangible to me before I read this, and it put a lot of things in my life in context. Draco's gentle love is essentially who I want to be in a relationship, and he recs books! I love this fic so much I sent it to my therapist lol I'd want to show it off in my bookshelf, I'd want to have multiple copies, I'd want my kids to read it. It's that fucking good. It's made that big a difference in my life.

Unfortunately, Mr. Snoodle is also cishet, which automatically makes him lose points, plus the lack of effort he puts into his genderconformity is quite clear if you've seen him next to his wife Mrs. Snoodle (who by the way, is a stylish girlboss icon). Because of this, Mr. Snoodle stands at the bottom of the list at #10.

#9: King Brian

We👏Stan👏A👏GNC👏King👏!!!💅 I mostly just put him on this list because I wanted to say that, but he is rocking that mascara! His gncness is far from over the top, however he is canonically bisexual (x), which automatically gives him the advantage over Mr. Snoodle, thus earning him a spot at #9.

#8: Hocus

Hocus legally had to be on this list, because all wizards are inherently gnc af. The robes, the staff, the fun hat, all hella gnc. However by wizard standards, Hocus is pretty mild with his gncocity, so when I consider the conversion factors, Hocus is technically only kinda gnc, even if he looks hella gnc by most standards. Because of this, our homie Hocus ranks in at #8.

#7: YaYa

Yaya is on here for a few reasons. For one, they are nonbinary (Mr. Mind Candy himself told me), and it's impossible to conform to a gender identity that has no real expecations to conform to. Plus have you seen their mane? Their lashes? Their fabulous pink cape? Yeah, this is one gnc zonkey! However YaYa has many tough competators that they're up against, so they still only earn a spot at #7.

#6: Furnando

Look at this fancy magic man! Honestly, I get gender envy from this funky lil guy. The top hat with the feathers on it, the mask, and the cape are a killer combo! Furnando also looks like someone whom one of my irl friends would kin, and that guy is also hella gnc, so he gets bonus points for that. "But tumblr user gingersnap-propaganda,"⁠—you might be saying⁠—"Furnando is so overwhelmingly gnc! How is he only at #6!?" Well my dear comrades, all I can say is that there are so many hella gnc moshlings! Even though Furnando ranks highly above average on the gnc-scale, even that is not enough to place him any higher than at #6.

#5: Weegul

Weegul encompasses a form of gender nonconformity that few people tend to truely appreciate: cutesy androgeny. They have no gender, just a a cute little smile, a round huggable form, a dazzling golden horn, a profound desire for incredible violence, and a cute lil heart tummy! Awwwww. Even though this little pal's gncness is off the charts, he still only ranks in at #5.

#4: Oddie

I know what you're thinking: that's one hella gnc donut!! In fact, his gender nonconformity is so obvious that I'm not even going to waste my time explaining what is already clear to you. One thing I know you're all thinking is "Wait, there's moshlings that are even more gnc that Oddie!??" and yes there is! Even though Oddie is pretty high up on this list, his gender nonconformity is surpassed by three other moshlings, putting him at #4.

#3: First Officer Ooze

Now that is a gnc snail! If you thought the snails here on Earth were enough as is, then your mind is probably being absolutley blown away right now by the sheer amount of gender nonconformity that this dude oozes (pun intended). Not only is xe purple (my favorite colour :3), but xe's also covered in polka dots, which gives xim gnc bonus points. But again, competition is tough! First Officer Ooze still only earns a spot at #3.

#2: Threddie

Shit dude, this sock has so much gender in all of the places you wouldn't expect it. The gender nonconformity that this sock contains is so unreal... if I could, I would leech away Threddie's gender for the taking like some sort of gender vampire, but I can't because gender vampires can't leech away other gender vampire's genders (that's how Threddie got all of that gender). What's so special about Threddie is that they took each and every one of their genders and expressed them in a completely different way than you'd expect. Yet still, there is yet another moshling that surpasses Threddie in gender nonconformity, which is why they are only in at #2.

This blob's gender nonconformity is absolutely fucking buckwild. Every person, binary or nonbinary, trans or cis, can look at this blob and immediately feel gender envy. Tell me I'm wrong!
