Wild: From Lost to Found On The Pacific Creat Trail - Cheryl Strayed (2012) ❤️❤️❤️💔 Every so often there is a book that every person you know seems to be reading or talking about. Most book lovers ignore that this usually coincides with the tie in to a major motion picture, but regardless, people are talking about it. Recently, Wild by Cheryl Strayed was one such book. With powerhouse Reese Witherspoon starting, people took notice. Part travelogue, part camping nightmare, part journal of self-discovery, Strayed's memoir is light, inspirational and fun. Most readers could relate to the desire to leave life behind for a bit, sling a "monster" on their backs and choose solitude to clear their thoughts. Strayed' slide was in disarray following the loss of her mother and some unhealthy life and relationship choices. Writing about the elements, the fellow hikers, the self-confidence and, more often, lack of sled confidence was engaging. Her desire to have books, replacing space in her bag for necessities is something this reviewer can relate to. It is an enjoyable read at 315 pages.
