Black Pearl stopped her yelling as she looked up above her, the doors ahead opened and out came the magical cookie themself, singing a song as they got out a giant syringe!

They danced and twirled their way to Black Pearl and looked her over, all the while the nurses backed them up!

Black Pearl Cookie: “What are you doing with that-“

You: “Whatever it may cost, there's no reason to stop! For a world that I cherish and love!”

Black Pearl struggled against her binds, as the nurses hold her down and chant repeatedly.

You lifted up the syringe in the air, Black Pearl could only watch as it loomed above her.

You plunged the needle right where Black Pearl’s heart was, the pink contents of the syringe being injected into her.

She had fully expected pain and jam everywhere, but….she didn’t.

She found herself floating amidst pink clouds as the pain in her heart…from him…soon became a memory as she closed her eyes….she heard your voice in her head.

You: “So that’s the source! No good at all! Allow me!”

A chibi version of a winged you appeared and flew to a poorly scribbled, mean looking Lord Oyster Cookie as you popped him out of existence like a bubble from her mindscape.

She opened her eyes back in reality…and felt…better? The syringe was removed as her straps were undone as she got up.

White Pearl Cookie: “What did you…”

You: “Another successful magical cure! You’ve allowed turmoil to plague your heart for so long! You just need some of that love to help get rid of it! It may not cure all that ails you, but I hope it can ease your pain!”

⛦ Usually I say Chuuya’s regression age is 3-7, a pretty capable toddler. But! This request is making him an itty bitty baby! So we’ll lower that age range tooo 1-4! I struggle to view him as baby only sorry… He’s at least a little bit of a toddler! Just a little bit though shhhh don’t worry about it he’s like mostly a baby in this I promise I promise

₊ ⊹ I think when regressing on his own Chuuya would just drop to sort of a middle space. Like he’s not fully slipping but he’s definitely not fully a big kid… But when he regresses around Dazai? Ough he just feels so tiny… Dazai babies him so much! Dazai will even put his usual teasing and taunting on hold until he gets Chuuya to fully slip. But once Chuuya’s in itty bitty baby mode the normal taunting comes back in full force! Chuuya is never free from him…

⛦ Pet names! Because gah I love Soukoku and their silly nicknames for each other. Dazai calls Chuuya all the nicknames he’d call big Chuuya “Mutt” “Slug” “Hatrack” etc. But he also really likes to make fun of how tiny Chuuya is! “Little One” “Itsy Bitsy Baby” “Tiny Little Guy” because Chuuya is small both physically and mentally! It’s great. Chuuya can’t talk well enough to call Dazai his usual mean nicknames but when he’s babbling Dazai knows if Chuuya’s trying to insult him and he’ll lightly chastise the baby (Hypocrite! He was just bullying little Chuuya ( -᷅ ⤙ -᷄ ) )

₊ ⊹ Dazai is. An absolute disaster in the kitchen. Luckily! Baby food is easy! Babies aren’t expecting gourmet meals. Most of the time Chuuya is happy with just some formula in a bottle, maybe applesauce or something! Easy enough for Dazai to do (Though he still somehow manages to make a mess). Chuuya tried insisting he can feed himself on his own but his motor skills are really weak, applesauce will spill all over his carpet and he’ll just start crying because that’s too big of a problem for his tiny little brain. Dazai has learned to just step in and help even if Chuuya says he doesn’t want it

⛦ I think slipping so young would make Chuuya unable to form words. That doesn’t mean he’s quiet though! No no no this little guy has things to say! He’s constantly babbling nonsense. Dazai is mostly able to tell what his baby wants, but he’ll purposefully mistranslate the babbles to be silly! While of course still meeting Chuuya’s needs. For example if Chuuya asks for more juice in his sippy cup Dazai will be like “Oh? Does little Chibi wanna go play dress up?” But while he’s messing with Chuuya he’s also already going to the kitchen for more juice

₊ ⊹ Dazai isn’t very physically strong, but Chuuya’s just a baby! He can’t walk on his own! So I think they use the blanket carriage a lot! This means they set a blanket on the floor which Chuuya sits on and Dazai grabs the edge to drag Chuuya along! It still takes muscle on Dazai’s part, but not as much as picking Chuuya up would. Dazai of course is a big old jerk and purposefully drags Chuuya over every possible bump, which always earns him a glare from the redhead and usually some annoyed babbles as well

⛦ Almost totally forgot to actually include the detail of sleepy baby Chuuya not just baby Chuuya- But oh yeah this is a sleepy baby. Absolutely loves being rocked! He buys a rocking chair saying he just found it for a good price or something, but his bright red embarrassed face gives it away. The first time Dazai tests it out with a regressed Chuuya in his lap is the quickest Chuuya’s ever fallen asleep for him. Now Dazai just sits in the chair on his own when he wants Chuuya to regress because it’s Soukoku and they’re like allergic to talking like proper normal people

₊ ⊹ Tiny baby Chuuya gets sleepy so easy, but he doesn’t wanna sleep! He wants to stay up! Juuuuust a little longer. One more story, one more episode, one more… He’ll get fussy too. Because he doesn’t wanna sleep! So why is his dumb body getting tired? Dazai absolutely has a mute button (A pacifier) nearby before even attempting to mention bedtime, he knows that he’s going to need it, and he’s 100% right. Also usually a nice warm bottle of milk! Because Chuuya will cry when he gets fussy and he needs to stay hydrated!

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ dazai is a sleepy regressor! when regressed he usually is just in his pajamas and takes a lot of naps. hell always insist hes not tired, and hes too old for a nap (pretending to regress to an older age such as 8-9ish, when in reality hes an itty bitty baby, probably 1-2ish), but once chuuya pulls out his bottle and wraps him a soft blanket hes through, out like a light and drooling onto chuuyas shoulder haha

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ as i stated before, dazai regresses to around 1-2ish, but he has trust issues and issues with being vulnerable, so even after he accepts his regression, he still tries to be a big kid and be more independent, when in reality hes really dependent on chuuya, and is even nervous and starts to cry if hes not with him at all times while regressed.

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ however, because hes a baby, chuuya of course will treat him like a baby! he has all sorts of toys like rattles, and soft plushies, and particularly those stuffed animals that have a little blanket for a body, like these. dazai doesnt really use any teethers when regressed but hes a big pacifier user, chuuya has a bunch of them laying around. if dazai doesnt have his pacifier, hell start sucking his fingers, which chuuya is adamantly against because he doesnt want dazai who already has a fragile immune system to get sick + he doesnt want him to chew up his fingers.

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ despite dazais personality when not regressed, i think hes honestly a very gentle and sweet little baby. for one, hes afraid to be vulnerable when hes regressed, so acting out is out of the question because he doesnt want to misbehave and have chuuya yell at him (chuuya would never, but dazai lives in his head and makes up anxieties). secondly, dazais entire nonchalant laugh it off demeanour is just a show when hes big, and that all comes crumbling down when hes regressed, showing his true colors, and his wants and needs. all he really wants is love and snuggles and to be held. he just needs reassurance and the kind of gentle love hes never received anywhere else :(

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ dazai loves peekaboo. hell lay in chuuyas lap watching him hide behind his hands for hours. and its all worth it to chuuya to hear his adorable babys sweet little happy giggles.

chuuya hiding behind his hands "oh no... where did mackeral go?" dazai giggling hysterically, because chuuya is right behind his hands, how could he not know where dazai is? and chuuya dramatically peeking out from behind his hands. "there he is!! theres my baby!!" and dazai laughing happy, saying "gain! gain!" (again, again!)

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ dazai, because he is so young, is not very verbal when little. hell occasionally say small, slightly mispronounced words such as "nuh" (no), "mmhm", "chuu", "chibi" or "chichi" (hes trying to say chibi, but hes just a little guy, you cant blame him!)

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ they have a game before they go to sleep for the night where chuuya will kiss all of dazais freckles on his nose before they go to sleep, and dazai will kiss chuuyas freckles back! chuuya thinks dazais little baby kisses are the most adorable thing in the world, and his heart flutters with every tiny little kiss the baby gives him!

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ dazai cant stand not to be around chuuya when hes little... but at the same time, his baby brain doesnt have the same criticl thinking skills as he does when hes an adult. so sometimes while chuuya is asleep, hell wander away out of curiosity (he sees its raining outside, he wants his stuffie, hes hungry, etc.) but once hes gone, it hits him that hes alone, and chuuyas not there, and he doesnt know what to do, and he doesnt know how to find him again, so he kinda just shuts down and starts to cry. chuuya, being woken up by his poor babys lonely, anxious crying, of course finds him immediately, and picks him up into his arms and hushes him and reminds him that if dazai ever needs anything he needs to tell his caregiver first! (hide and seek is definately not a game they play lol)

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ i feel like dazai would really like moomin valley, the 90s version. i think the voices would be so calming to him, and hed enjoy all the magical elements and the aesthetic of it. however, i think he calls moomin a hippo, and chuuya tries to correct him and be like "sweetheart, moomin is a troll, not a hippo", but dazai associates trolls with being scary and moomin is not scary, so he cant be a troll, he has to be a hippo!! the two episodes though, with the groke, scared him.

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅chuuya is very protective, probably overprotective of dazai. its because he personally sees how capable and independent dazai is when not regressed, and a lot of that independence is taken away when dazai regresses. hes very sensitive and emotional and doesnt always know how to take care of himself, and that combined with chuuyas natural protective instincts over those he loves makes him extremely protective of his baby. he doesnt like dazai regressing without him, but only will accept it if its kunikida caring for him, because i feel like they have a mutual respect for each other and understand that both of them care a lot about dazai and would take good care of him. dazai also puts so much trust into chuuya when he regresses and chuuya is his default caregiver, that chuuya feels almost territorial with the baby lol.

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ dazai is autistic, and masks his symptoms a lot, and when he regresses that ability to mask vanishes. his sucking on objects or his fingers is a self soothing stim, and when hes excited hell or flail his hands around. he also hums to himself as a stim (he does this when not regressed too), and is a lot more sensitive to light and sound. he cant stand uncomfortable clothing either and almost always wears pajamas when regressed.

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ i think chuuya has a caregiver headspace, hes not just a caregiver because he loves dazai (though thats definately a reason too- i mean some people dont have caregiver headspaces but they still caregive because they want to be accomdating to their loved ones). so not only is regressing theraputic for dazai, it is for chuuya too, because it calms that need in him to take care of someone, and to protect them. when dazai is asleep with his pacifier and his stuffie all cozy in chuuyas arms in a warm fluffy blankie, he cant help but just feel such a strong sense of rightness, and content in his chest, because this is exactly what he needs. a happy baby in his arms.

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ i headcanon dazai as a cane user post mersault, not all the time, just to help him balance and lean his weight on if his leg is feeling off. and i headcanon him to have chronic pain in that knee that he broke. when his knee is hurting, i think he falls down into his baby headspace, and chuuya will give him an icepack and/or warm heating pad depending on the type of pain, rub his leg and his knee for him, carry him anywhere he needs to go, reassure the baby that hes no less beautiful or perfect or human because he has a physical disability now, and that hes still loved and will always be loved. on flare up days/periods, chuuya and dazai usually just cuddle in bed and watch shows or movies, and order takeout and drink hot cocoa.

‧₊˚ ☽ ⋅ chuuya loves to do fun activities with dazai! dazai is not fond of regressing in public, so things like cat cafes and parks and public events are off limits, but hell stargaze with the baby on the balcony, telling him stories of all the different constellations and pointing out different planets. hell bake fun treats with dazai (usually dazai doesnt do much baking since hes a disaster in the kitchen even when not regressed-). dazai usually just pours ingredients into bowls and cups with chuuyas help and licks the spoons. he likes to pick flowers with dazai and make little flower crowns, and will color with him. they make tents from blankets and cushions and pillows in the living room to go on a fake camping trip, and chuuya will pretend to be a scary grizzly bear, and then will fight the bear off to protect dazai! he gets dazai to do crafts and fingerpaintings. he absolutely keeps his baby entertained, even if dazai doesnt like to leave the safety of their home when regressed!

Day 24: Letters/Calls

Chuuya wakes to the sound of his phone going off, a shrill piercing of the air that has him blindly reaching for his phone on his night stand in an effort to turn it off.

His alarm never goes off this early on the weekends but perhaps he forgot to change it last night in his last moments of consciousness.

It wouldn’t be the first time he’s done that.

Once the noise is gone, haphazardly turned off by his ungloved hands, he gets comfy again, ready to embrace sleep once more.

“Chuu?”

His eyes snap open.

He’s not one to hallucinate normally — really only ever happens if he’s getting tortured but it’s been years since he last let that happen to him — especially not the voice of that bastard.

He flips over, dagger hidden under his pillow in his hand waiting to be thrown at the first outline he catches of the mackerel.

He blinks. Blinks again and squints.

Nothing. No movement, no comments, just empty space…

“Slug?”

He whips to the side, eyes zeroing in on the dimly lit screen of his phone. There, at the top of the caller screen, is ‘Mackerel 🐟’

Dazai called him?

In the middle of the night?

That’s… unheard of, actually.

That’s more of drunk Chuuya’s thing, and the brunet knows not to interrupt the redhead’s beauty sleep lest he wants to meet one of Chuuya’s infamous torture methods from his list.

So why now?

It doesn’t make sense, and Chuuya’s just about to snap at him when he hears the quietest “that’s okay” and the call disconnects.

Wait.

He snatches his phone, already pulling up his contacts to call Dazai back, as he gets up from bed and makes his way to his door.

Something’s not right.

“Pick up, pick up, pick up,” Chuuya murmurs to himself, slipping his shoes on and his coat around himself.

Just as he steps out and closes his front door, the call connects.

He’s met with silence.

“Oi, Dazai?” he calls as he makes his way to the elevator.

Nothing.

“I’m not playing whatever game you’re trying, bastard. Why did you call?” he asks. The elevator begins its rapid descent. He’s hoping he doesn’t lose cell coverage in here, that’d be the last thing he needs right now.

“…Chibi doesn’t need to worry,” Dazai mumbles. There’s a light rustle in the background as if Dazai is shifting around before more silence follows. Chuuya gets out of the elevator, beelining it for his motorcycle.

“Dazai.”

“…”

“Fine, don’t speak. I’ll be there in a few.” Chuuya doesn’t hang up, instead connecting the phone to his helmet’s bluetooth, and starts the engine.

It’s a fast trip, one that involved a few too many illegal moves and broken speed limits but it’s not like the police could catch up to him that easily if they tried. He knows this city like the back of his hand.

Pulling into the Agency dorms’ parking lots, he stops only long enough to get his helmet off and prop his bike, dashing for the stairs to skip them two-at-a-time.

He doesn’t bother to knock, using his ability to twist the lock on the other side instead as he finally disconnects the call.

On the other side he finds Dazai on his futon, sitting upright but looking worse for wear. His hair’s a mess and his clothes are twisted in a way that tells Chuuya something definitely happened. From here, he can’t see his face, only a slight shake in his form.

After removing his shoes and coat, Chuuya silently makes his way over, nerves on edge. He can’t help it. If something could make Dazai like this, then it’s a threat.

“Dazai?” he whispers. He comes to kneel in front of him, hands beginning to reach out before he thinks better of it.

But it’s enough to get a reaction from Dazai, albeit a flinch. He looks up at Chuuya then, and oh.

He must have cried at some point, the undersides of his eyes are giving him away with how red they are.

That’s all Chuuya can think before arms are wrapping around him and /yanking/ him forward into Dazai, the brunet curling around him in such a strong grasp that Chuuya struggles to breathe.

With the way Dazai’s clutching him and the red-rimmed eyes and the tremors and the midnight call… it’s not hard to put two-and-two together.

He’d always known Dazai could experience some form of nightmares — had seen it a few times in their youth, though the brunet would always deny it or refuse to speak about it.

But now… it must have been bad enough that it actually truly got to Dazai.

That, or the Agency dastards are softening him up.

Chuuya can’t find that he hates them for it, though.

If it finally means Dazai might open up, might learn to confide in others, then Chuuya’s all for it.

And if that means him and Dazai can learn to communicate with words and feelings instead of just actions and insults, then Chuuya will gladly wait and accept every small part Dazai gives him until they reach that goal.

For now, though, he’s content to hug the man back and sway them as he hums a gentle tune.
