Nampo Falls Amid US Airstrikes; North and South Korea Face Staggering Losses
In a pivotal moment on the Korean Peninsula, Nampo has fallen to South Korean forces, significantly aided by a series of devastating US airstrikes. The victory, however, comes at a heavy cost, with South Korea reporting the loss of another 25,000 infantry in the battle. The North has suffered tremendously, with casualties estimated at 500,000, marking a severe depletion of its military strength. As South Korean troops push closer to Seoul, now just 50km away, the region braces for further conflict.
Complicating the situation, the Chongjin uprising, initially a localized revolt, has gained momentum and is spreading towards Pyongyang, signaling deepening internal strife within North Korea. This unrest comes at a critical time, as North Korean and Soviet forces, fresh from their strategic capture of Incheon, advance towards Seoul, positioned 100km away. However, their progress is hampered by an unexpected obstacle: the landscape, heavily mined in anticipation of such a move, has turned against them, causing significant casualties among the advancing troops.
This series of events underscores the volatile and rapidly changing dynamics on the Korean Peninsula. With Nampo under South Korean control and internal uprisings challenging the North's stability, the conflict's outcome remains uncertain. The international community watches with bated breath as both sides regroup and reconsider their strategies amidst the chaos.

Hello! CAN YOU MAKE HEADCANONS FOR UM-- Chongyun, Xingqiu, and Xiangling towards Y/n if they were part of their friend group-- AA-
Tumblr media
Synopsis: chongyun, xingqiu, xiangling, and y/n in a friend group!
Warnings: none!
Game/ fandom: genshin impact
Characters: chongyun, xingqiu, and xiangling (and hu Tao has her own little headcanon because she’s gotta be somewhere in this friendship c’mon)
Pronouns for reader: gender neutral/ not mentioned
A/n: hello! I was really excited when I saw this in my inbox because... ahhh I love platonic headcanons so much! It’s a nice break from romantic headcanons that you need once and a while you know? Not to say I don’t like writing romantic headcanons! But still I need a small break from it once and a while. Anyway, hope you enjoy because I’m really proud of this, and have a nice day/ afternoon/ night!
Tumblr media
I feel like you’d be the type of dynamic that’s like “calm one, the one with all the energy, the one that has no energy, and then you. (I’m gonna let you choose your part of the dynamic because... well I don’t know you)” but no matter what you all share a brain cell.
Please please take part in some of xingqiu’s pranks. For your own safety do it. It’ll make the chances of him targeting you for one of his pranks less likely.
Xiangling has asked you to cook with her, and to try some of her cooking. It is always *mwah* delicious. Even when she cooked slime condensate ‘Twas delicious
I feel like I’m occasion you might get into a fight with each other but it typically is resolved quickly. More for chongyuns sake because remember he can’t get to... emotional? I suppose that’s the word...
Chongyun has asked everyone in your friend group to help him exercise some demons, but typically everyone else says no because the have their own plans, so that leaves you. Please go with him, he loves having you there with him it makes it less... gloomy.
Xingqiu rants to everyone once an a while about his book that he’s currently reading. You never understand any of it but he explains in detail to the best of his abilities.
You all have some sort of dinner or lunch with one another a lot. It’s a frequent thing that you all do that makes your day :)
Xiangling will ask you to go foraging for ingredients with her, or even shopping for ingredients. She prefers to go foraging, but sometimes it comes down to going shopping around liyue.
Once and a while chongyun will say something very random and with such a straight face that it’s funny. It’s all things that makes sense... most of the time, but it’s so out of the blue that you can’t help but chuckle. For example you could be taking about a new book with xingqiu and Chongjin will say “if you were to glide from the jade chamber how far would you go?”
I 100% bet that hu tao is somewhere in this friendship because... because I said so. You’d have to stop her from harassing qiqi and baizhu a decent amount of times. (As I have said hu tao was a leash kid.) you’ll drag her back to wanshung funeral parlor and see a disappointed zhongli all his other kids become literal warriors but nooo hu Tao had to be the special one
“Stop harassing qiqi hu tao. We’ve talked about this.” - zhongli 2021

Hi u seem literate... What r ur favourite nonfiction books?
Tragically most of the non-fiction I read is in Polish and most hasn't been translated it but including it for my beloved Polish followers:
Nothing to Envy by Barbara Demyck - 2009, based on interviews with North Korean refugees from Chongjin. Shows a diversity of perspective, well-written, AND there's a freely available pdf.
The Crisis Caravan by Linda Polman - 2008, about the unfun sides of humanitarian relief, ranging from refugee camps for Hutu refugees after the Rwandan genocide to medical aid organised by American evangelists with no medical training
The 27 Deaths of Toby Obed by Joanna Gierak-Onoszko - 2019, about the residential school system and cultural genocide in Canada and its long-lasting effects.
Dancing at Someone Else’s Wedding by Hanna Krall - 1993, so well-written I love Hanna Krall. A series of vignettes ranging from a woman who discovered her biological mother was a Jewish woman who her parents sheltered during the Second World War to a suicidal abstract painter.
Imperium by Ryszard Kapuściński - 1993, about his travels around the Soviet Union. Really exemplifies how fucking big and diverse and fascinating it was
Like Eating a Stone by Wojciech Tochman - 2002, about the Bosnian war, mostly, but not exclusively focusing on people looking for their late relatives. Really chilling stories my favourite one is about a boy who narrowly avoids being ethnically cleansed by his maths teacher
Wściekły pies by Wojciech Tochman - 2007, series of short... Reportages?? Soooo fucking good. Ranging from a priest with AIDS to schoolchildren on a pilgrimage who burned to death to an amnesiac man who woke up by train tracks
Polska odwraca oczy by Justyna Kopińska - 2016, news stories ranging from an interview with the wife of Mariusz Trynkiewicz, who brutally murdered four teenage boys to abused inmates in a psychiatrist hospital and murders that the police simply does not care about investigating (hint: most of them)
Pod klątwą by Joanna Tokarska-Bakir - 2018. This is the first time I've read a book that I can confidently say is exhaustive. I feel like it covered every single aspect of the Kielce pogrom there is to cover.
Płuczki by Piotr Paweł Reszka - 2019. About the decades long process of the concentration camps in Sobiborz and Bełżec being dug up by local inhabitants looking for belongings taken from murdered Jews to pawn, ranging from fake teeth to a Mickey mouse brooch.
Białystok by Marcin Kącki - 2015. If you're Polish, read this, cannot recommend it enough. Deep dive into the city of Białystok and it's transformation from a majority Jewish city to the one it is today, focusing in large part on antisemitism before, during, and after the war, covering topics ranging from death trains to disco polo

Explosive Lessons: When Re-Education Camps Get Schooled
The attempt to quash the Chongjin insurgency with re-education camps has disastrously failed. These camps, aimed at rekindling communist fervor among the capitalist insurgents, were destroyed in a calculated attack, symbolizing a deep rejection of ideological indoctrination. Amidst the ruins, a burning US flag was found, adding a layer of mystery and suggesting external influence or a profound statement of defiance.
The explosion of the camps and the emblematic US flag have stirred speculations about the insurgency's backers and intentions, revealing the government's strategy's shortcomings. This act has not only shown the ineffectiveness of forced re-education but also hinted at a complex web of motivations behind the unrest, complicating the path to a peaceful resolution.
