Idk... I first started watching Chhota Bheem when I was maybe 3 years or something. And that time I didn't knew any hindi, Chhota Bheem and other cartoons like Shinchan and Doraemon were my main source of learning Hindi. (Actually my mother just kept me infront of the TV to keep me engaged so I wouldn't disturb while she did house chores, so I watched mostly all day hehe)

I think I just learned what the lyrics were saying and that was it.. so I never knew what chaddi meant till I was maybe 6 or 7, and have never heard that before.

But Ig if I had heard it recently I would have heard chaddi lol

hello there! i’m not sure if anyone else has asked this but have you watched Little Krishna, Shaktimaan (live action or the animated one) or Chota Bheem?

Anon, I think you overestimate how young we are lol.

For reference sake, I am the youngest of the mods and I was officially too old to be watching Little Krishna when it was airing. Same thing with the animated Shaktimaan. Chota Bheem almost fell in the category of that time where I could have conceivably caught the first couple of years' worth of episodes HOWEVER, my family didn't have cable so the only channels we got were DD1 aka DD National (DD stands for Doordarshan, for anyone who's confused), DD News (formerly DD2 aka DD Metro). So yeah, basically I couldn't have watched them when they were airing.

Now, if we talk about the OG Shaktimaan show that was aired on DD National circa 1997-2005? Of course I watched it. Granted I was a wee babby and couldn't talk or speak for a good chunk of it but my elder sister was obsessed with that show (Shaktimaan and Junior G, in fact, if anyone even remembers the latter) so that meant my eyes also feasted upon that show by default.

This was a fun question, anon. No one had asked us this one before. And thanks to it, you got some mod S trivia lmao.

i do think the domination of indian origin cartoons has severely and negatively affected current kids bcs even the most mainstream american tv shows were a lot a more socially progressive than our lived realities like i distinctively remember being a little kid and my peers clocking the amount of (usually sexist and casteist) restrictions desi parents/society placed on us as weird and oppressive just bcs the kids on hannah montana and zack n cody went on dates, hung out with friends, decided what to wear .. but now all kids are watching chota bheem and internalising the hindu morality that comes with it ,:/
