my most hated character: i don't think i really hate anyone on this show? i either love them or am indifferent about them. i guess jan? but like. jan was just a one-off baddie so i don't hate hate her. i just think what she was doing was fucked up.

my otp: i don't have one, i don't think? i like nadja and laszlo, and i also think laszlo and colin robinson were great together while that lasted.

my notp: again, i don't think i have one, but any time i see people being like "THIS IS HOW NANDERMO WILL BECOME CANON" i'm like. y'all need to calm your tits. this is why i don't like this ship anymore. people need to relearn to ship without expecting the writers to make it canon as soon as they can (or at all).

favourite episode: the casino was VERY funny. also the one with the witches at the end of season 2 (i think it was just called witches but i don't remember much about season 2).

saddest death: i haven't seen the most recent episode but as soon as i saw someone confirm that my boy actually went.... i almost cried.

favourite season: season 3 is really good so far.

least favourite season: season 2 all ran together and kind of felt a little bit boring, but i do understand that second seasons are difficult to write, especially after a successful first season.

Random List of things I want from episodes of Hazbin Hotel (and Helluva Boss) when it gets greenlit cause we all know it will

Mimzy, Baxter, and Crymini joining the hotel. Think that's a pretty obvious one.

Mimzy and Alastor backstory, I know that info on Mimz being in love with Al is probably outdated but I think it would be fun if they still at least knew each other in life. (Were the friends? How close were they? Did Al fucking kill Mimzy, if so was it an accident or on purpose?) The sky’s the limit here!

On that note: Backstories on how each mortal soul involved in the Hotel ended up in Hell. Especially people who (for now) it’s kinda tricker to imagine why/how they ended up in Hell in the first place. I’m namely thinking of Vaggie and Niffty. Vaggie is a little more believable cause of her apparent reliance on weapons the first sign of trouble. But Niffty is a sweet little sugar bean who I imagine is legally forbidden from saying bad words. 

I’d like to see why Niffty ended up in a Hell cause I'm a sucker for the “Cinnamon Roll is actually Deadly Murder Baby” trope, don't judge me.

Royal Family Backstory! How did Lucifer and Lillith meet? How did they acquire their stations? When was Charlie born and how did this affect hell’s demographics, particularly in the realization that “Shit, some of us can create kids here”

Also, what other biblical figures are canon in Hazbin Hell? We already saw Stolas (though I’m still unsure if he’s the Stolas in bible or this is just, like, an avatar or version of him or something). Is Beezlebub in Hell? 

What about historical figures? Jeffery Dahmer and probably Lizzie Borden (that ax chick from Charlie’s song). Is Hitler in Hell? What about Vlad the Impaler or John Wayne Gacy?

I want Lucifer to be voiced by Weird Al. No, I will not explain or apologize for this wish.

Valentino backstory and his relationship to Angel Dust (Ik Vivz said this would be explained more in those comics but c’mon, it’d be a cool episode too).

Rosie, Vox, and other overlord backstories. I also wanna know who that cute overlord girl was with Vox and Val in the opening. She’s so cute and looks fun.

Vaggie and Alastor team up for some reason. I know they don’t really like or trust one another but I think they could play well off each other. Also character building.

Angel Dust and Charlie team up as well. Maybe a subplot to the above. More character development!

Sir Pentious, Cherri Bomb, and the Egg bois join the Hotel because why not and it’d be fun.

Angel gets a boyfriend. Cherri gets a girlfriend. 

Chaggie moments. I want their relationship to be shown in the same way Moxxie and Millie’s relationship was.

Who are the Von Eldritch family? Why to Helsa and Charlie not get along? Who is the son and why did he and Charlie break-up? What did their parents think of this? How does Vaggie (if at all) factor into this?

An episode where they focus on all the background characters in Hell (kinda like that one episode of Gumball).

Angel telling Val where to stick it being framed as him finally, seriously, giving redemption a shot.

Alastor and Vox fight framed like a big anime showdown no I will not apologize for this either, deal with it.

ALASTOR FROWNING!!!!!!

NIffty having a habit of saying really dark, morbid, depressing, horrifying things in the bubbliest, happiest voice in all of Hell. Everyone is kinda unnerved by it.

Husk is an odd combo of Rick Sanches and Grunkle Stan.

Baxter making inventing or “creating” something that destroys something in the Hotel off-screen. It becomes a running gag.

A running gag of Alastor literally shoving anyone out of the way to talk to Charlie.

Mimzy somehow becoming the mom friend despite being terrible at it.

This kind of conversation: Angel Dust: What’re you doing? Crymini: Teenage Rebellion. Angel: Fuq yeah, stick it to the old people!

An episode where Sir Pentious tries to destroy the Hotel and goes whole ham to do it... but no one in the Hotel ever notices his schemes or accidentally thwarts him without even trying,

Tom bitch slapping Katie. He deserves too.

Are there other religions in this universe? Did God and Lucifer inadvertently kick out all the old-timey deities in their rise to power?

Are any of said deities or mythological characters in Hell? Do they like it there? Do they deserve it? Again, sky’s the limit

Blitzo and Stola’s relationship played with more, but not necessarily Blitzo ending up with Stolas. Although if Stolas has good character development I could change my mind

More Moxxie and Millie relationship. They’re so cute!

That bratty kid becoming a sitcom archnemesis for I.M.P. but no one taking it seriously.

Stolas and Blitzo busting their asses off to keep whatever they have a secret from Stolas’s wife. But she knows, she has known for a long time (Blitz did tell her that first time) and she actively encourages is because hey, she’s sleeping with someone else besides her husband. Stolas and Blitzo’s reaction can vary.

Moxxie, Millie, and Loona memeing on Blitzo whenever Stolas calls. Like, yeah, they don’t like Stolas much either, but still, Blitz kinda had it coming.

Stolas gets a musical number. But not a good one. More on the lines of this. 

On that note, maybe something like a Starkid musical episode? C’mon, it fits.

I want Charlie and Stolas to know each other. Not friends but at least they know each other. Royalty and all...

Blitzo family backstory? Who are those ladies in the poster with him? Was he actually in a circus? How did the O become silent in his name?

Stolas’s daughter, Natasha (or Tasha, whatever) shows up. Maybe she’s the spoiled, bratty, daddy’s little girl trope. OR EVEN BETTER: She’s a mix of E.B. from the Netflix Green Eggs and Ham and Louise from Bob’s Burgers. Let her be smart! Let her start working for I.M.P. and run it better than any of them.

Tasha actually has a strong moral compass and actually kinda likes Charlie’s idea and wants to help, but she’s a kid and her dad says she can’t so... (She probably does anyway or Charlie tells Tasha to come back and help when she’s a bit older and has more freedom from her parents.

Blitzo and Angel Dust meeting, tell me that wouldn’t kick ass. (And Stolas meeting Angel Dust and getting “I’m here to steal yo man” vibes from him). Whether Angel and Blitzo hit it off that way is completely arbitrary.

A crossover of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss culminating in the entire crew having to defeat some big baddie and it kicks ass.

More found family tropes in general. That’s the good shit.

Kidnapping Number Eleven (Wintershock)

Darcy grumbled and swore as she woke up in yet another dank cell in some unknown baddies’s lair. Working around Avengers and being married to one made her life wonderful, thrilling and…….prone to being kidnapped. She twisted around in the chair she was restrained in and glared at her bare left hand.

“Bitches stole my wedding ring!” she complained. “I will cut them!”

“I’ll join you,” said a similarly grouchy male voice from across the room.

Darcy whipped her head around to see she wasn’t the only prisoner. A man was tied up in similar fashion to her, wrists and ankles cuffed to the chair. His handsome face was bruised and cut, and he looked decidedly disgruntled. She squinted in the dim light and then recognized him.

“Sousa?” She asked. “They nab you too?”

“Yes and yes,” he confirmed. “I thought I had left the kidnappings behind in my field agent days.”

Darcy chuckled.

“Even being supposedly dead doesn’t mean one is exempt from being snatched, apparently,” she sighed. “I was on such a roll. Ten months since the last kidnapping. Guess I’ll have to reset the counter.”

“You have a kidnapping counter?” Daniel asked, with some amusement.

“Yep,” she sighed. “Twenty attempts and eleven successes, counting today. I do PR work with the avengers and that tends to make me a target. Not to mention, I’m married to someone that tends to make evildoers’ lives miserable and short.”

“Sounds familiar,” Daniel admitted. “I sure hope they aren’t being lured into a trap. I have no clue how many people they’ve got stationed here.”

“No worries. My husband’s pretty badass. He can take ‘em, and if he brings his buddies, well, it will be lights out for our captors,” Darcy said confidently, while Daniel fiddled with his leg.

“Are you hurt?” She asked, concerned again.

He shook his head and pulled up a small metal device, which he used to pick the cuffs and free himself.

Darcy’s jaw dropped.

“Smooth, Daniel. I’m only halfway there.”

She’d been working on her own cuffs with the hairpin she’d had hidden away, but it was slower going than usual for her. She was rusty. She made a mental note to ask Natasha to run some practice sessions with her.

“I gotta know, where did you manage to hide a lockpick?” She asked, as they rubbed the circulation back into their limbs. “They searched me pretty thoroughly, except for my shoes.”

In answer, Daniel pulled up his pant leg, exposing a prosthetic limb, which had a tiny compartment built in. He smirked and shut it again.

“Nice!” Darcy admired. “Tony’s work?”

“Jemma Simmons, actually,” Daniel said. “Though it would be something a Stark would do as well.”

“Bucky will be jealous,” she joked. “Don’t think he’s got any cool compartments in his metal arm.”

“He could also break down this door with that metal arm in a heartbeat, though.” Daniel said, eying the very thick cell door that so far was impervious to their attempts to pick the lock.

Darcy shrugged. “Yeah, most likely. I’m not hearing much from outside right now. Where are all the thugs and mad scientists?”

There was no window in the door, so all they could do was sit and wait and hope rescue came before their captors came back.

“You’re with Quake, right? What’s that like?” Darcy asked to make conversation.

Daniel’s eyes grew soft and warm, and she could tell she’d picked a good topic.

“It’s wonderful,” he said fondly. “She’s so incredibly smart and funny, and strong and loving. After all the stuff life has thrown at her, she still has such a huge heart. I think I was smitten from the first day I met her posing as a CIA agent.”

“Awwe,” Darcy cooed, heart melting at how massive his heart eyes were as he talked about Daisy. She’d only met Quake a few times, but she could totally understand how Daniel could have fallen for her right off the bat.

“What about you? What special someone will be bursting through here to carry you to safety?” Daniel asked her, a knowing sparkle in his friendly brown eyes.

Darcy chuckled.

“That would be one Bucky Barnes, badass extraordinaire and the world’s most adorable cinnamon roll of a husband.”

Daniel looked confused.

“Cinnamon roll? Is that some modern slang term? I’m not familiar with it.”

“Yes,” Darcy said, thinking back to how much Daniel reminded her of Steve with his general confusion about modern day idioms. “It means he’s got a sweet, gooey personality underneath all those layers. Despite everything the War and Hydra did to him, he’s still got that irresistible charm and gentlemanliness that seems to be a thing with the men of your era. I bet Daisy appreciates that too.”

“I think so,” Daniel acknowledged. “She does call me a square a lot, though.”

He gave an adorable sheepish grin that Darcy guessed meant the term square had become one of endearment.

She heard gunshots and banging noises and quickly hit the deck, self preservation instincts kicking in. Daniel was crouched down, too, listening intently.

About three minutes later, the door was violently opened and three figures appeared: one of which was obviously Captain America, the second a tall brunette woman she quickly recognized as Daisy Johnson, aka Quake, and the third was a very ferocious looking Bucky Barnes, gun aimed and ready.

“We’re alright!” Darcy declared before he could get himself more worked up, but he carefully checked her over anyway, needing to see for himself.

“I see you’ve picked the cuffs already. That’s my girl,” Bucky said with a proud grin, pulling her into a relieved hug.

“They took my rings,” she said with a pout against his chest. “Did you leave me anybody to yell at?”

“A couple. I’ll ask Barton to search them.” Bucky told her.

“Everything okay, Johnson?” He asked, nodding to Quake, who was tenderly wiping the blood off of Daniel’s face.

“Yeah,” she said absently. “Doesn’t look like more than some surface wounds. I don’t know what these idiots were trying to prove except how dumb they were in their terrible planning and execution.”

Steve, seeing that things were under control and he wouldn’t be needed to carry an unconscious body, shared a look with Bucky, and left the room again.

“So it wasn’t Hydra?” Daniel asked.

“Doesn’t look that way,” Bucky replied. “Looks like a wannabe who was tryin’ to impress someone. The guys we’ve caught are already squealing like stuck pigs.

“Did you make your scary murder face at them?” She asked. “I bet they peed their pants.”

Bucky chuckled. “Didn’t have to. Steve and Nat beat me to it. Besides, I have Resting Murder Face as you so frequently remind me, doll.”

“Yup. And it’s an awfully cute murder face, too,” she told him fondly. They gazed at each other for a second and then heard a sigh behind them.

“If you’re done with the flirting, could we please get out of here? I have a hot date I need to get to.”

Darcy pretended to roll her eyes.

“Oh, fine, Quake. I guess I can jump my hot husband a little later.”

She heard Daniel make a choked sound even as Bucky cracked up.

“No filter Darcy is the best Darcy,” he whispered.

“And don’t you forget it,” she ordered, winking at him.

The four of them met Steve, Clint, Nat and Sam in another room, where ten restrained men were sitting or lying, depending on their state of consciousness. Darcy recognized the thugs that had taken her and upon pointing them out to Bucky, watched in glee as he menaced them until they begged for mercy and gave up their boss. Clint, who had been searching them, found Darcy’s jewelry and she gave a huge sigh of relief as she put her rings back on.

“Better now, doll?” He asked her.

“Much,” she told him, admiring the way the Ruby and diamonds sparkled on her hand. Bucky’s proposal had been incredibly romantic and she would never ever forget the way her heart had throbbed when he’d gone down on one knee in front of her and looked at her so lovingly as he’d asked her to marry him.

After all the prisoners were rounded up and loaded on the quintet, Darcy took a seat beside Bucky and snuggled up against him as best she could.

“Thanks, babe,” she whispered. “You’re awesome.”

“You are, Darcy,” he told her. “You could have run FAR and fast from the Avengers chaos, but you stuck around and I’m very grateful.”

“Despite the Chaos and kidnappings aside, there’s nowhere I’d rather be. We’re worth it, Bucky,” she told him, squeezing his hand with hers.

Top 5 waifu fairy tail

I was honestly hoping for one for Fairy Tail! I love this anime so much! There are so many top tier girls in this anime!!! Let’s goooo!

5. Dimaria Yesta

Starting off with a hot baddie! I loved her outfits, she was really pretty, and she makes me love short hair! One of the hottest villains for me in Fairy Tail.

4. Cana Alberona

Though she is a ‘drunk’ (though a very functional one), I don’t remember ever seeing her wasted despite the BARRELS of alcohol she would drink. And it kind of got watered down in later episodes. She’s always smoking hot in the bikini top and shorts, and seeing her become more of a main character around the Tenrou Island Arc was nice! She’s also badass enough to use the power of Fairy Glitter and blow people away with it!

3. Ultear Milovich

I liked her redemption arc a lot! I thought it was nicely done and ended as  beautifully as it could have. She’s got seriously sexy curves and is always wearing a drop dead sexy, skin tight suit! I thought her magix was super interesting and unique! (Until Dimaria came around, but still!)

2. Mirajane Strauss

Boy, when I first saw Mira in Fairy Tail episode 2, I thought she was absolutely adorable! I was so prepared for her to be my favorite female character right then and there! She was so sweet, funny, caring, adorable, and just a cinnamon roll! Then she unleashed Satan Soul around episode like 75 against Freed, and I was like, “HO SHIT! YOU ALL DONE MESSED WITH THE WRONG CINNAMON ROLL!” She showed everyone that she was also such a badass! Then her other Satan Souls are introduced to show she EVEN STRONGER than we thought she was! I love pretty much everything about her. 

1. Erza Scarlet

Guys.... guys..... it’s my girl. The Queen of the Fairies! TITANIA! My favorite anime girl ever! She solidified my love of redheads! She was THE strongest female character I remember seeing at the time! She went from being intimidating and scary from first seeing her (she terrified Natsu and Gray to the point they were shaking and forced themselves to get along! Even after only like 3-4 episodes and EVERYONE knew that was a big deal) to being quirky, cute, silly, and just everything to love! She’s full of love for her guild mates who she sees as family (Tough love, but love none the less). I love all her unique armors, how badass and strong she is, and I almost screamed during the Tower of Heaven Arc several times! 

Erza Scarlet is amazing!

1) Omg the confession chapter! Loved this chapter to bits! Also happy 2020!

Yes! The confession has finally happened! Hell, it’s about time. Happy 2020, the year of the rat 庚子年!

2) Lol sun being A scared shit and A sweet confession. Looking forward to the next chapter

Sun being terrified... heh. It’s what Black would be in that situation. Sun? ... Who knows. The next chapter might happen soon, depends on how this chapter went!

3) Hehe, it really did work out for the best for Blue. Makes perfect sense to give Platinum the LuckyShipping confession MVP award now. Her little chat with Red was probably the best scene in this chapter for me.

Nice to see a fluffy chapter before the action kicks in again. Poor Yellow, though - she's going to be suffering for a bit...though it would be nice to see if/how Yellow gets over it. And I wonder what the "calling" thing is about. I suspect her target is a Mimikyu, but is this more Moon's instinct saying that a potential new team member is nearby or maybe there's some psychic stuff going on here?

Anyway, it's nice to see this story finally getting so many reviews! Happy New Year! As always, can't wait for the next chapter!

Poor Yellow? Not yet. It’s too soon. And no, the target is not a Mimikyu. Sun already has one. And you know from the overhaul post that Moon does not get a Mimikyu. Moon gets a Banette. And in the Thrifty Megamart, there are wild Shuppets. Fun fact: I do research to see what Pokemon are in what area so the Dex Holders will run into a Pokemon that makes sense in that area. Psychic stuff? Nah. Ghost stuff.

And Happy New Year to you too!

4) AAAAAAH THEY DID IT OH MY GOD THE FLUFF IS REAL

The fluff is real and it’s going to get fluffier. It’s going to be so fluffy that Yellow suffocates and Red and Blue get a bad case of static shock. ... Wait, what?

5) They’ve finally done it and platinum once again proving to be of help to both red and blue in getting the together. Your slowly making platinum one of my personal new favourites from these and I fine with that. It’s a really sweet chapter. Anyways Happy new years!

Platinum’s so nice. Hehehe... She’s a wonderful character! ... Yeah, yeah. Bias. Happy New Year!

6) I love the interactions between White and Y - they honestly seem really close and it’s really nice to see! I love the chapter I hope you had a good New Year’s Eve and Christmas and thank you for the new chapter!

I like the interactions between White and Y too, which is why I put in a lot of them. And they’re not exactly a senior/junior type, but rather, good friend type. Hence Y’s line of “oh eat my ass” in the last chapter.

Hehe. Of course Moon would hit it. White failing miserably in riding Rapidash, just like in that one SC chapter (SC #007: Memory Lane).

9) I'm glad Blue managed to confess her feelings for Red after struggling so hard with them. Crushes are really stressful, and in her case in particular, with her fear of getting close to and hurting others- just ah. The secret's out, and Red reciprocates. Now at least they'll have this moment of happiness! ...Though poor Yellow has rather unfortunate timing.

Is Moon being called to by a Mimikyu, I wonder? That'd be a strong and cool addition to her party!

Only happiness awaits for Red and Blue! ... Until the plot hits them, as foretold. Yellow’s purpose in the story is now halfway over.

And no, Moon is not being called by a Mimikyu.

12) Hey again, hope your New Years went well! Glad to see an update to this story. Regarding the latest chapter, I'm pretty mixed - but not in a bad way.

The first half was pretty enjoyable to read. Honestly, Red does seem like he's become the person to think things over a bit before diving in from what I saw in FRLG and him asking Platinum what was up with Blue was enjoyable. Red also deciding to take the leap and press the issue to not prolong Blue's suffering was pretty fun to read too. I half expected Blue to go on a rant about why she likes Red to him, she seems like the kind of person to justify everything (since you've shown her thoughts and rationale about why she "musn't" let Red she likes him in earlier chapters) but I guess it wasn't needed or maybe she'll do it when she's a bit calmer. I'd like to see Red react to him unknowingly saving her back in Chapter 1. Also, I've said it before - I used to like Red and Yellow, but this kinda does cement why I like Red and Blue - I kinda got a kick out of Yellow spying on the two of them, felt somewhat ironic.

I might be the only one but I kinda just gloss over the Sun and Moon parts of the story. I still read them, but I just feel more invested in the older Dex Holders' adventures since they're more emotional and I'm way more attached to those guys.

Regardless of my personal bias, great chapter. Looking forward to more as always.

Red is reckless when it comes to like... battling and combat. But outside of that, he’s not stupidly reckless. And hopefully, given how old he is in Legacy, he would’ve mellowed even more. And so he is now considerate. Huzzah! Blue will go on a ramble and talk about her fears later on once things have settled. Right now, she would be quite exhausted, actually. And then she and Red can have that discussion that was in Destiny, but in Legacy with updated interactions and no doomsday on the horizon. Getting a kick out of Yellow getting heartbroken, huh? Hahaha. ... More to come later.

Eh, it’s not that surprising. After all, statistically, the newest Dex Holders are generally ignored by the readers. Black and White in SA, X and Y in early Destiny, and now Sun and Moon in early (still) Legacy. Now, Sun and Moon aren’t that new anymore, so they’re not being as ignored, but they’re still the newest (since we don’t know sh*t about Sword and Shield yet), so... yeah.

Oddly, the Covert Ops series, whose idea I scrapped, has come back in a very weird fashion. Instead of Blue doing the fieldwork (or Rakutsu), she’s just providing the tech to Red. Interesting.

Give me spoiled Deku pt2

So... by the time Izuku is 5 or 6 years old he and his mom move to a new place, his dad is going to met the house on christmas and of course the Midoriyas new huge house is infront of the Todorokis, but it's not like they know at first, the neighbors don't make an effort to meet them and they are so busy making their new place cozy (which is a little harder than before bc it's bigger but they manage just fine) and enrolling Izu in his new school and Inko is really considering getting Izuchan a private tutor for extra lessons on Hisashi recommendation so yeah not a lot of time to go and play nice with the new neighbors, that is until she and Izuku settle well enough and her son is ready for the new school and they already find the perfect tutor and so they got time to go and explore the park that is just a few minutes away from their house and there Izuku meets him.

At first Izu doesn't particularly notice him (and years later Izuku can't believe how he wasn't the first thing on his line of vision with how pretty his bf always was), just another addition on his general view of the park, there wasn't a lot of kids but that was fine, after how the one boy who he through was his friend treated him, he wasn't very eager to met other kids, he just took his new limited edition All Might figure and sat near the sand box deciding on making a sand monster for his hero to battle against, his mom sat on a bench nearby, everything was peaceful and he could hear the other kids laughing away but then he hear it, a little sob from behind the tree a few feet away, he could never ignore a person in need, not even when kac-Bakugo punched him for getting in the way, so he took his figure and walked to the tree, his mother was just a little distance away so he could always yell for her if things got ugly (he was still afraid still with the feeling of trepidation and fear of begin punched just because he wanted to help) just as his dad told him to do: a hero always calls for help if needed there is nothing wrong on that he didn't needed to do it alone, he got to the tree and there he saw him. Longing on his eyes and silent tears falling from his face, very quiet sobs coming from him, and yet he was the prettiest person that Izuku has seen in his short life, red and white hair, cute face even in his sadness, round cheeks and big eyes, a pink scar on his left eye, a little bit shorter than Izuku himself. He said "Hi" and by the end of that afternoon Shouto Todoroki promised himself that he would do everything on his power to marry Izuku Midoriya, his presence a regular one on the Midoriya household for the next two years and by 8 years old it became a permanent one (good riddance Endewhore). By nine he declared his feeling to his Izu and said he would be more than happy to be his trophy husband, to which Inko awwed and Hisashi laughed once he hear of it, Izuku just blushed but said that his Shouchan could be whatever he wanted to be as long as it made him happy and if that's what he really wanted then he just have even more reasons to become the number one hero and give him the life that he deserved, of course Shouto panicked because he didn't want his husband to always be alone out there fighting baddies and declared that he would also become a hero so he could be there for Izu, overall it was a very funny exchange that Inko was more than glad to witness. She knew that those two really wanted to be heroes for the right reasons but it was really funny to see them putting new ones just to demostread their "undying love for each other" (that turned out to be very true in the future).

Izuku, pure cinnamon roll that he is, even after begin constantly spoiled by his parents, his tutor and now his boyfriend, remained humble and selfless and kind, he wanted to give back everthing that the world has given to him, he wanted for people to have a smile on their faces just as he always had the fortune to have, (in this au) by eleven he meets his hero, and at first All Might makes him think of the phrase "never met your heroes", but then he puts attention like, real attention to the man before him and Izuku sees him somehow, second by second, All Might looks a little bit more sad, a little bit more broken, a little bit more alone and if All Might it's always smiling and reassuring the world, who is the one that does that for All Might? Understanding strucks Izuku like a lighting and for the first time he realizes that the top of the world sure looks like a lonely place, but his father's words come to him again and he knows that he is no alone and he decides that All Might shouldn't be either.

God this was longer that I expected and English is not my first language so sorry in advance and yeah I will make another part for this put it under spoiled Izuku tag or something bc I really want to dump my ideas somewhere so I can go back to them and I want to make this a proper fic!

Thoughts on Tamers Introduction Arc

Yeah... I have no idea what to call this arc since Digimon Tamers is structured so differently from the Digimon Adventure series. It’s definitely a new beast compared to its predecessors, which is probably why it has this arc to set up how this whole new world works. This consists of the first 12 episodes (and kinda sorta episode 13 since it’s sort of an arc transition episode), so basically my initial thoughts of the series. So how is it?

I probably shouldn’t be writing when I’m in the middle of finals week but here we go.

This arc is actually super short compared to what I’m used to (or maybe that’s because Adventure 02′s arcs were really long, but whatever) and it honestly doesn’t have a ton of substance, at least in terms of being super eventful. In 13 episodes of Digimon Adventure, the seven DigiDestined all got their Digimon to evolve to Champion forms, conquer File Island and confront several big baddies--including defeating Devimon. For Tamers? The three main tamers get their Digimon to evolve to Champion form a couple of time at most and typically just deal with a few rogue Digimon “realizing” in the real world.

But that doesn’t make Tamers first arc bad at all. I’m actually glad that the story, for the most part, took its time. It’s far more emotionally driven and focused on writing and developing its characters than it is throwing a bunch of action-packed battles. That could change in later arcs and this also isn’t to say any of the battles were bad here either. 

Since there were so few battles, it’s easy to talk about those first. Probably the most interesting ones are the ones where each main Digimon achieves Champion form for the first time--Growlmon’s probably being my favorite. Like 02, Digimon have multiple attacks, which I really liked about that series as an improvement over Adventure. But along with that, Tamers’ “Card Slash” addition adds a good chunk of new variety to the battles. There’s mostly stat boosting cards, but the ones that give new abilities like White Wings on Guilmon are my favorite so far, so I really hope they keep being creative with it later on. Plus it also adds an extra bit of variety for how Digivolution isn’t really necessary to turn a battle around. It keeps things interesting and at times less predictable than what the Adventures series had to struggle with.

What I also really like about this arc and series so far is the characters--they’re honestly pretty unique and mostly don’t fall into major stereotypes. There’s obviously character tropes here and there, but they’re done with enough of a unique spin that I wouldn’t call any of them stereotypes. But what I like the most between all three of them is that they have their own strengths and flaws, but none of them are higher on the rung nor is there one character who is typically right about everything while there’s a bonehead who’s looked down on as the group idiot. I’ll try to explain.

Rika seems like the typical “cold-hearted bitch” and while she does fall into a few tropes, she is right about a few things. She’s very logical and her mentality reflects that, making her a better fighter and helping characters like Takato realize the flaws in his own strategies. But it’s because of her logical mindset that she’s cruel to Renamon and finds herself struggling internally. At the same time though, she has logical fears. She realizes she’s playing a dangerous game and she keeps a brave face on, but it’s when she’s directly facing that danger (such as when she’s been directly targetted by Digimon) that she feels a sense of helplessness.

Takato kind of falls into the “weird kid at school” archetype, but it’s honestly refreshing to have that character as the main protagonist for Digimon. After having the outgoing, courageous hothead Tai and... Davis I guess, Takato is honestly a more fun and (to me) more realistic character. Our previous leads were good characters in their own rights but despite the whole “average Joe” archetype the writers were going for with Davis, Takato feels like the most relatable lead so far. He’s weird, his imagination is running wild with ideas, he’s passionate about his interests to the point that it distracts him from school, he has friends but he also gets in fights with them, he gets in trouble with his parents for being a tad rebellious but he isn’t out to get in serious trouble... But guess what? That’s a kid! Kids are weird! They get in trouble! They get all sorts of ideas all of the time! And I commend the writers for nailing it with Takato.

But he’s not perfect. He doesn’t think his Digimon battles through and he gets cocky when he thinks he has it all figured out (but it’s not a running theme with him like many standard hothead protagonists). He’s extremely emotionally invested in and attached to Guilmon, to the point that he can’t possibly stand the very idea of losing him. But he’s a big dreamer (no pun intended on the theme song) that sometimes doesn’t realize how ambitious his dreams can be. When he first meets Guilmon and comes across his evolved Growlmon, he’s scared of the potential monster he’s created. He’s not the bravest kid around when faced with harsh realities, but he does overcome them and he does realize when he’s made a mistake. He’s actual a pretty big crybaby for a main protagonist, but that’s part of what makes him so human.

Then you have Henry, who’s sort of the in-between for Rika and Takato and the pacifist. He has the ability to fight, but he’s too scared to fight because of a past experience with his Terriermon digivolving to Gargomon and being out of his control. He cares a lot about Terriermon, but he realizes that he’s a creature that isn’t meant to exist in the “real world”. He has a balance of rationale and emotions, though it’s clear that his emotions tend to win over certain situations--he typically takes Takato’s side and stays out of fights because of his attachment to Terriermon. He’s a middle ground in the cast, but not to the point that he’s boring.

As for the Digimon, I like pretty much all three. Guilmon’s easily my favorite--he’s just so gosh darn adorable and his relationship with Takato has been really good so far. Renamon is the stoic and “cool” one, and I do like her. Nothing has really happened that has made me say “Oh my God, I love this character!”, but she’s interesting enough and I like some of her dedication to Rika, even though she has been pushed aside by her. I do also admittedly really like Kyubimon’s design too. Terriermon is just... sort of there for me. I wasn’t really fond of him when I first started watching, and I don’t particularly care for Terriermon or Gargomon’s designs. But I have warmed up to him at least though, and I do like that he’s a bit of a subtle smart aleck. 

To briefly mention one other Digimon, Calumon is a white ball of pure adorableness. I never thought there was a Digimon that could rival Patamon as the pure cinnamon roll but my gosh, Calumon’s very existence is the embodiment of pure. There’s no other way to describe him. I can see he’s kind of a walking plot device, but dammit, they made this plot device too cute for me to possibly be mad about!

Oh, and there’s Impmon I guess. Yeah, he’s a little shit. I literally have nothing else to say about him (though I do wonder how much fun the dub writers had tweaking his script).

Normally I would talk about the antagonist here too, but there’s so little we know at this point of the show that I really don’t know how to comment. Just, “Ooh, government conspiracies!”. I’d complain about how overdone that is, but at the same time there comes a point where you watch so much Digimon that you wonder where the hell the government is. I mean, Adventure 02 briefly touched on this, but just had Gennai screw them over anyway. The main baddie’s lighter clicking kind of has my attention for some reason though. A nervous tick perhaps? Maybe I’ve just played too much Ace Attorney.

Yet despite all of the “cover-up” going on with the Digimon, I have to say that it’s borderline completely unnecessary considering how freaking stupid the pedestrians in the Tamers world are. Seriously, I thought it was bad in the Adventure series for how few recognized the whole Digimon thing and how shocked they were when it happened for the third time in tri, yet they acted like it was a totally new thing. But the people in the Tamers world are either blind, coincidentally not around when something happens, or just really, really stupid. No one ever notices a Digital Field, Hypnos tries to cover up all of the totally clear as day kaiju fights by shutting down any technology, yet no one reports it? Not once does anyone question whether or not Guilmon is more than just a kid in a really realistic looking costume? I mean, I can accept passing off Terriermon as a plushie, but there are moments he talks right in front of people and no one raises a fuss. There is one scene where Henry scolds him for potentially drawing attention, but this is just one of many, many times where people conveniently do not notice. You can only stretch one’s suspension of disbelief so far. The subplot where Impmon pulls a ton of pranks in a park is about as close as it gets, but I can kinda believe people mistaking him for a kid in a costume. You can only get so far with a walking, talking dinosaur running around in public. But hey, if We’re Back! could pull it off for about 30 minutes, why the hell not!

It’s a nitpick at best, but it seriously starts to become questionable three series in, especially when the Adventure series always tried to cover up the partner Digimon when they could, but then you have Tamers with kids just casually walking around with their Digimon. I mean, I wish that was the world we were living in!

I guess if I had to nitpick about another thing, the animation towards to the beginning is kind of laughable. I know just about any show is like that in its first few episodes, and maybe this is because I’m not watching the show on an old low-resolution CRT TV as it was meant to back in the early 2000′s, but there’s definitely some bad, wonky and very simplified frames and cycles of animation. There’s also a couple of cheap digital animation tricks being overused, like just moving single frames of animation with zooms or moving them around like little puppets. I do think the animation does improve within the first arc, but I’m pretty sure plenty of the animation budget went into the Digivolution animations. And honestly, they are still pretty impressive to look at to this day and are very stylistic. Granted, they look kind of... painful for the Digimon, but it’s still more impressive than having the Digimon just... spin into Champion form.

Finally, the music is really good too. “The Biggest Dreamer” is another awesome Digimon opening provided by the late Koji Wada, “EVO” is a great Digivolution theme that I really like the lyrics for, “Card Slash!” is catchy as hell, and “My Tomorrow” is a nice ending theme, probably one of my more favorite ones. There’s also “3 Primary Colors” as an insert song, but I didn’t really get enough of an impression of it just hearing it once. I also really like the instrumentals for these songs, like the piano version of “The Biggest Dreamer” (OW MY HEART) and that jazzy version of “Card Slash!” is pretty swell too. The other BGM is nice as well, and I think I may have heard a few songs reused from the Adventure series, but I’m not 100% sure on that. If there’s any complaint I have about the music, it’s that so far the fights have been so short that the songs don’t really get a chance to play in full--even at TV size. I don’t really mind moments where songs like Card Slash! transition into EVO, but I do hope we get more fleshed out fight scenes to give some of these songs the treatment they deserve.

There really isn’t much plot for me to talk about since this arc is spent establishing the world and characters, but I don’t particularly mind that! I like that the show takes its time to introduce its audience to the world it has, but not to a point that it drags or bores the audience. It still has enough good characters, good action and new Digimon elements as well as enough mystery to keep me invested. Characters with good enough chemistry and development that I’ve already cried at least three times. Because Digimon enjoys doing that to me, and I keep watching it anyway.

Which is exactly why I wrote this as fast as possible so I could go watch more. That’s it! See you guys after another 10+ episodes!
