DATES FOR THE YEAR
Hello,
Please relate the following information to your parents/guardians in respect to booking any holidays and events.
Parents/guardians, save this Tumblr link to see your musician’s schedules (posted every Friday)
Please do not take any holidays during term time and keep all dentist and other non-emergency appointments to Thursdays (which is usually your day off) For the time being you will be asked to work from home on either a Tuesday or a Wednesday. This will change around from project to project. You always need to be available all day on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday and Fridays
You will be called in on three Thursdays this term (see below)
TERM 1
For your own public performances, you will need to keep the following dates free:
Your year group will have Thursdays off. This will always be the case except for the week before and week of any shows you are involved with as well as any outside trips that we have planned.
Your first showing of work will be on the afternoon of the 11th of October, you will need to be available to come in on Thursday 10th of October.
On the same evening as the showing, we will be inviting your parents to an event called ‘Friends of the Miskin’ This is their chance to connect with the staff here and find out more about how your course works and ask us any questions they might have. We plan to showcase some of the music from the afternoon gig for them at the event. This will be from 7:30-9:00pm (details to follow).
On the evening of Friday the 25th of October there will be a Freshers gig with performances from the 2nd year musicians. You will be expected to attend
Half term will be 28th of October-1st of November
We are planning to take you to see an afternoon performance of the West End Show ‘Hamilton’ on Thursday November 7th
You will be performing some music at a live gig on the evening of the 29th of November. You will be expected to rehearse on Thursday 28th of November
The latest day you will be called in this term will be December 18th
TERM 2
You are not called back until Tuesday the 6th of January
The 2nd term show dates are Thursday the 13th and Friday the 14th of February. So you will be called in on the Thursday of that week (13th of February)
The following week is half term break (17th-21st of February)
You may be playing some of the music from this gig again at our open day on the 4th of March until 7pm in the evening
You will not break up for Easter until the 10th of April. Please be aware that the rest of the college breaks up earlier than you do that week. You are called back on the 22nd of April
You will need to be available on the evening of Friday April 25th to watch the 2nd year musicians perform in the Theatre
Your third term public show dates are Thursday 22nd-Saturday 24th of May
You will need to be available to work on Thursday 1st of May as we have a lunchtime gig the next day and both Thursdays during the two-week period of the show going out (15th and 22nd of May)
YOU WILL BE CALLED IN FOR A DEBRIEF on Tuesday 27th of May and also on another day that week for a tutorial
PLEASE BEWARE THAT THIS IS HALF TERM WEEK FOR THE REST OF THE COLLEGE
You will not be called in on the week of the 2nd-6th of June however but will be expected to use that time to complete any outstanding portfolio work
We will break up officially for the Summer on the 20th of June, however there may be an end of year Prom the following week on the 26th of June
Attendance at the prom is optional.
Please Note that GCSE/functional skills sessions supersede any time off you have been given on this notice and you will still need to attend classes at times when the rest of your year group have time off.
We reserve the right to call you in on a Thursday if you fall behind with your academic work

Our  Local Tamassee-Salem SC Area News each Monday except holidays                                          Contact: [email protected]                              Distributed to local businesses, town hall, library.                            Volume 7 Issue 37                                                                                                  Week of Sept 9,  2024                https://www.tumblr.com/settings/blog/oldsalempost-blog                                                         Lynne Martin Publishing EDITOR:  Healthy people seek healthy thoughts and habits.  As we age there is a normal decline in health because when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit our DNA was changed forever.  Knowledge helps me work harder to have quality of life over quantity. I am appalled when I read of the health problems and risks with food additives such as FD&C Yellow and Red artificial food coloring.  These are cancer causing agents yet our foods and drinks are full of these unnecessarily. We are insane if we continue to ignore  what we are eating and what we are allowing our children to eat and drink.  Knowledge and action will help protect us when our government will not. Read labels!   Lynne R Martin

Jottings from Miz Jeannie  by Jeannie Barnwell    Stretching AND Chair Zumba at ENAC Ladies!  Join the fun this Thursday, September 12 at 9:30 AM for gentle but invigorating exercise. Last week, nine ladies attended a practice session under the leadership of Ms. Joanie Shockly.  Joanie explained that we would be moving at our individual pace, and we would not be competing. I mentioned to you last week that rather than driving to classes in Easley, that I intended to just stay at home to do my own stretching.  Well, that didn't work out very well for me.  I curled up on the porch and tucked into a  bag of chips and a  good book.  Mercy me!  The days went by and I just never did get around to my exercises.  On the contrary when I joined the group, there was a spirit of camaraderie. As I glanced around the room, many of the women were smiling  for the whole hour.  We look forward to attending weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays  Classes are $2.50 each. Enter the ENAC and the exercise class is directly past the Auditorium,  This experience is the opposite of a high school gym class! No one will yell at you if you confuse your left foot from your right!  After class, I told Joanie I felt so energized from the breathing exercises and the gentle stretching. It's up to YOU to take advantage of amazing classes, concerts, and get-togethers planned JUST FOR YOU at the Eagles Nest ART Center!  I hope to see you in class! Love Ya!  Miz Jeannie

I finally allowed her to help me to my car.  Then as I was driving home…...a huge tree fell in front of me…..that would have landed right on my car!                                                                                                      HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNT CAROL ANN!
Have a blessed week! LRM

1/19/2024 FRIDAY (Weekend) Plan Of Attack
Assignments:
[TOP PRIORITY] (DUE MONDAY) The cleaner, smoother animation of the flour sack with personality
(Due Tuesday) (×5) pages of sketches based on a character description
(Due Tuesday) (×1) page with a final sketch of the created character based on that character description.
(Due Thursday) Scan/take good quality pics of the gesture drawings we did in class to turn in (easiest one)
Now, onto the Plan Of Attack...
[FRIDAY THE 19TH] (main hw day)
1. Start off with doing as much animation work as I can with some coffee in the morning (-> The 1st hundred frames are holds so, ill aim for at least the 1st 200 or so frames done by the end of the day/night)
2. Once I start to feel pooped from animating, I'll switch over to do one or two pages of the Character Design assignment.
3. Knowing me, I may end up napping or taking an extended break somewhere after 4pm.
4. Do a little bit more animating until either 7pm or 9pm, depending on how much energy I got left.
[SATURDAY THE 20TH]
5. Kickboxing at 8:30 am (there wasn't one available on Friday morning, so I booked one for this day)
6. Shower 🚿
7. Do more of my animation work (-> hoping for another hundred frames or so 🙏)
8. Once I'm pooped from animating, I'll switch over to do another page for Character Design.
9. I'm certain I'll be super pooped by like 5pm or 6pm, so I may end up taking an extended break.
10. A tiny bit more animating by 7pm or 9pm.
[SUNDAY THE 21ST] (Crunch Time!)
11. Just focus on the animation work thru-out the day!!!
12. If im lucky to finish early + got some energy on me still, then I could do another one or two pages for Character Design 🤔 (hoping for two so I could do that final sketch page on Monday morning 🤞)
I'm already in bed, so I didn't feel like whipping out my pens + physical write it down. I nearly forgot to do this b4 falling asleep. No yawns yet. Yet.
I got a lot ahead of me this weekend 😵‍💫 My sister's due very soon, like within the next 6 days. I'm gonna be an aunt 😫
Wish me luck this weekend!
Nite yall!
*stays up more anyway looking at yaoi + reading haikaveh domestic fluff fanfics)

Snowstorm-Colby Brock
summary: requested by an anon! “Heyyyy! Can you write an imagine where y/n goes to Colby's house for a school project while his parents are away. Suddenly it started snowing by the time they notice it's already too dangerous to go home so Colby offered to let y/n sleep there and they ended up falling asleep together on the couch. In the mornings ng they rush to go to school and y/n ends up wearing Colby's so their friends teases them. Idk if it makes sense ✌”
masterlist
You groaned as the teacher announced he was picking the partners for the new assignment. Your best friend looked over at you, rolling her eyes, obviously having the same thoughts running through her head. You hated being stuck with someone you didn’t know and you had that gut feeling that the teacher was going to stuck you with someone completely out of your comfort zone.
“Alright next pair will be y/n and Colby.” Your teacher announced, continuing to go through the class names, pairing off the rest of your classmates. You glanced over at the brunette across the classroom. You had never been super close to Colby, but you’ve known him since the third grade so you hoped nothing would be awkward, and honestly you weren’t upset with the pairing. It could have been way worse.  After creating all the groups, your teacher dismissed the class to start planning for the project. You got up and went to sit next to Colby. He smiled at you.
“Hey, I actually have some great ideas for the project.” You told him, hoping he’d happily let you take some charge.
“I do too, and i have a ton of supplies at my place, do you wanna come over tonight to work on it?” You couldn’t help but get a little red at the thought of going over to Colby’s house. He was a sweet guy, and super cute.
“That sounds great, I can make it over around 4?” You offered, as Colby nodded in agreement, proceeding to write notes for the two of you to follow later that day.
-
You made your way over to Colby’s place around 3:30, giving yourself some time to get there as you noticed it was starting to snow in your small town. You couldn’t figure out why you were feeling nervous, but there were butterflies taking sanctuary in your stomach. You knocked on the door, adjusting your appearance out of habit. He opened the door, welcoming you into his house. You hurried in, it already being very frigid outside as the snow started to come down harder. Colby showed you where to put your jacket as you put your bag down, removing your boots.  He brought you to the kitchen table, where he had set up a proper area for you guys to get your work done.
-
The two of you had gotten into the zone, making great progress on your project and completely missing how fast time had escaped you. It was 7pm and the two of you hadn’t eaten dinner.
“My parents are away until Monday, they left money for dinner. Is pizza okay?” he asked, and you nodded agreeing. He went off the call the pizza place and you grabbed your phone, shooting your mom a message. You let her know that you were still at Colby’s safe and sound, and eating dinner with him. She asked you to stay there until the snow let up. You wandered over to the window and peered outside. The ground was covered in at least 3 inches of snow, and it didn’t look like it was stopping anytime soon. Checking the weather reports, your assumptions were deemed true. It made you a bit nervous to think about driving home in the shitty weather, but you knew Colby would never force you out if it wasn’t safe. He was a good guy, and you wanted to get to know him more.
‘maybe being snowed in together won’t be so bad’ You pondered, as Colby returned to the room.
“Pizza’s on it’s way, hopefully it won’t be too long in this weather.” He informs you, joining you at the window.
-
After eating the two of you worked until about 9:30, finishing what you could before calling it a night. The snow was coming down even harder. Colby suggested the two of you watch a movie to wait out the snowstorm. The both of you figured it may let up by then, but you would later discover you were far from right. You and Colby settled on the couch and after scrolling through Netflix for a while, a movie was decided upon. Before clicking play, Colby turned to you.
“I know we don’t know each other super well, but just to be safe, it’s cool with me if you stay overnight. It’s way too dangerous to drive anyway.” you smiled at his generous offer and concern.
“Thanks Colby, that makes me feel a lot better.”  It was a good thing he made the offer because you made it about halfway before passing out on the couch.
-
You both were startled awake by the alarm of your phone going off. Both you and Colby had ended up falling asleep on the couch. Checking the time on his phone, he jolted up off the couch, disturbing your comfortable spot on his shoulder.
“Come on y/n we should’ve been up 20 minutes ago!” he exclaims, racing upstairs to change. You scrambled to get ready, collecting your essentials for school and fixing your knotted hair. Luckily you kept an emergency makeup kit in your backpack, so you quickly touched up your face. Looking down at your clothes you figured you could wear your pants again, being in black leggings, but your shirt would not do. Colby must’ve read your mind because he came racing down the stairs in new outfit and tossed you a hoodie.
“Figured you may need something else to wear. “ he laughs, going to the kitchen to grab you each an apple for breakfast and collecting his own things for school. The two of you rushed to put on your boots and jackets. Colby locked his door before coming over to help you clear off your car.
You drove quickly but carefully, the roads weren’t amazing even though most of them had been plowed. Arriving at school, you and Colby walked in together.
“Wanna hang out again tonight? We can do some more work and maybe just, um get to know each other?” Colby asks before leaving you to head to his locker.
“I’d love to, I’ll drive us to your place after school?” You suggest. He agrees and rushes off to his locker, leaving you blushing. You head to your locker where some of your friends are waiting.
“Look who decided to show up!” Your best friend says as you put in your combination, opening your locker.
“And in who’s sweater?” Your other friend demands, bringing curiosity to everyones eyes. You blush madly and laugh and your friend’s prying.
“It’s Colby’s I had to stay over at his place last night because of the weather.” you informed them, still blushing. This triggered a chorus of questions and sarcastic comments about how you ‘HAD TO STAY’. You laughed at your friends’ teasing, but secretly loved the thought of staying over at Colby’s for other reasons. It made you even more excited for the upcoming afternoon.

The Old Salem Post
Our  Local Tamassee-Salem SC Area News each Monday except holidays          Contact: [email protected]                                Distributed to local businesses, town hall and library.                            Volume 6 Issue 31      Week of August 1, 2022                https://www.tumblr.com/settings/blog/oldsalempost-blog                                             Lynne Martin Publishing
EDITOR:  I recently discovered the true power of a parable, in the movie, Burden.  My ears were opened as scripture refers to.  One can talk all day about what someone should or should not do, but when the situation is spoken in a parable, the universe opens. King David wept when he realized the parable,  the Prophet Nathan spoke of, was for him. King David was the wealthy man who stole the poor mans only sheep.   If we have ears, let us hear this parable:  A little boy was born in poverty, a little girl was born in riches. Jesus loves them both equally, no matter what color they are, no matter where they live, and no matter if they go to church.   + ASHTON RECALLS+             By Ashton Hester        Here's another story for The Post. I was amazed at how much walking these girls did. I used to think I'd done something Spartan when I would walk nine miles from Walhalla to Seneca:                                       TAMASSEE CAMP FOR GIRLS THRIVED IN 1921 - (The following story was in the July 27, 1921 issue of the Keowee Courier). . .This being the fourth and last week of Tamassee Camp for girls, under the direction of Rev. and Mrs. I.E. Wallace, brings to a close a most happy and delightful season for a large number of girls. . .They have gone to camp in "installments" of 25 to 30 girls every week, as some would leave and others take their place. . .There were many pleasures for the campers as well as much instruction. They had a strenuous program which began with reveille at 6 a.m., but they have been reported as being a fine set of girls and doing every thing cheerfully and in an orderly manner and on scheduled time. . .With one voice, thanks is given to Mr. and Mrs. Wallace and all who did so much toward giving the girls such a wonderfully happy time at Tamassee Camp. . .The program for the last week of camp is as follows:. . .Monday, Hike to Oconee Station, 12 miles; Tuesday and Wednesday, a two-days' hike to Jocassee and Whitewater Falls, 35 miles; Thursday, Camp fire and supper on the rocks at the river; Friday, Grand finale swimming meet, beginning at 4 p.m.; Friday night, Final stunt night; Saturday, Hike to Mayuka Falls, 18 miles. . .This is a strenuous program, but most of the girls are in fine shape for strenuous work and are enjoying it. . .A great many visitors were at the camp Sunday. . .Every one at the camp is safe and happy!. . .(Footnote written by me, Ashton Hester: They walked 65 miles in six days! I think that calling that "strenuous" is a bit of an understatement!)
Photo Opportunities  * A Christmas gift for your siblings: find twelve childhood pictures and get CVS to fashion them into a 2023 calendar.  *  Life speeds by so quickly.  Only in retirement do we have time to reflect.  Find a photo of a beloved person “gone too soon.”  It could be your aunt or your favorite teacher.  For $10 CVS will blow the photo to life size.  Cover your TV screen with this picture:  reflect on how the person blessed your life.   * Thought for the week:  Instead of making up excuses, make your plans materialize by planning and working hard.   I LOVE YOU!    Miz Jeannie
Volunteer at the Eagles Nest Art Center, ENAC:   We need volunteers!  Call 864-280-1258.  We need help with the outside and inside areas to be inviting, welcoming and pleasing to our patrons. Local Business Highlight                                                                          Sunrise Farm Bed and Breakfast:  Sunrise Farm Bed and Breakfast, located 325 Sunrise Drive in Salem is beautiful, and unique to our area.  We welcome folks from near and far.  Many locals stay with us, sip lemonade or sweet tea on the front porch, and reminisce about days gone by.  They also enjoy interacting with our friendly menagerie of animals.   Recently, we joined the Upstate Heritage Quilt Trail.  The quilt block is attached to our barn.  It replicates the quilt that hangs in the stairwell of the main farmhouse.  Greg and I enjoy reading The Old Salem Post!  It's always interesting and keeps us informed about what's happening, so we can share it with our many guests.   864-944-0121           http://SunriseFarmBB.com
Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Help us to bear the fruit of Your Holy Spirit that others will see You in us. Amen                                Scripture: Galatians 5:22..  “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness and self-control.” …….And the greatest of these is love..Love will manifest the all the rest.
Home Remedies: Petroleum Jelly: Heals wounds and cuts. Calms irritation. In a few days Victoria Beer Week returns, showcasing nearly 20 events.
Tumblr media
image courtesy Victoria Beer Society and Victoria Beer Week
Press Release
Victoria Beer Week kicks off Friday, April 1st. The 8th annual festival celebrating Victoria’s craft beer culture returns after a two-year hiatus, featuring a mix of 18 events over 9 days, including some favourite events from past years, a full curriculum of Beer School classes, and some exciting new twists. The week opens with Lift Off! on Friday, April 1st — a special night showcasing 21 brand new beers — and finishes with Touchdown on April 9th, a new event that features music, games, brewery awards, and the final results of VBW’s inaugural Gnome Quest (details below).
Both Lift Off! and Touchdown will take place at VBW’s new flagship location: the Powerhouse (2110 Store St). Other new events include Dubbel Down at the Victoria Public Market, an event that focuses on Belgian-style beers and inspired cuisine; Pint Sized Stories, a craft beer improv night by Paper Street Theatre and Wes Borg; and Barrels & Casks, a special event merging the worlds of cask conditioned and barrel-aged beers.
Food and beer lovers can get their fill at Taco the Town; the Brewmasters Dinner, hosted by Driftwood Brewery and the Rock Bay Market; and Beer + Pizza night hosted by Herald Street Brew Works in partnership with Vagabond Pies.
For folks looking to learn more about their favourite beverage, VBW offers a Beer School Program:
● Homebrewing Workshop - Saturday, April 2, 11am - 5pm at the Moon Under Water ● Blind Justice: David vs Goliath - Sunday, April 3, 2:30pm - 4pm at Vessel Liquor’s classroom ● Intro to Brewing Ingredients - Tuesday, April 5, 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Île Sauvage Brewing ● Beer + Coffee - Wednesday, April 6, 5:30pm - 7pm at Discovery Coffee Roastery ● Virtual Beer & Cheese Pairing - Thursday, April 7, 7pm - 8:30pm via Zoom ● Hop-lessly Devoted - Thursday, April 7, 7:30pm - 9pm at Vancouver Island Brewing ● Greg Evans Memorial Walk - Saturday, April 9th, 11am & 2pm at Swans Brewpub
What’s Gnome Quest??
New in 2022, Victoria Beer Week’s Gnome Quest is a fun, city-wide scavenger hunt that encourages folks to seek out gnome statues in locations throughout the city. Once you find a gnome, scan the QR code to add that gnome to your dashboard and collect points through VBW’s Gnome Quest app. At VBW events, check in at brewery tables to collect more points. Each time a player finds a gnome or checks in at a brewery, they will be entered to win a pair of VIP tickets to the finale event, Touchdown, where the player with the most points will be declared winner of VBW’s first Gnome Quest. Clues to gnome locations will be released daily on instagram @vicbeerweek starting on Monday, March 28th.

COHESIVE RE-CONSTRUCTION . Life is constantly under construction. . . Every now and then, I return back to my real job, which is to listen with love. . . . I am so grateful for the daily reminders to stay with the present moment. Isn’t it fascinating to see how quickly one can shift from a place of reactivity, to a place of responsiveness. That quiet storm underneath the voice, has taught me to stop and listen in to what my emotions are feeling. . . The mind will construct the most intricate and biased story. “But, I want this!”, or “But, What happened?” When I stop and listen, my attention comes back to the present moment, and I recognize that I am internally reacting to what I am experiencing. . My best friend in the whole world is my mantra. I find my breath. I listen inwardly. I allow the universe to re-construct wholeness, and symbiosis. . . Namo Shakti . . .
