Who can save the universe? See Barbarella do her thing! Barbarella must find Dr. Durand Durand before his positronic ray falls into the wrong hands. Sooo campy, I can definitely see why it became a cult film, and definitely want to check out the comic it's based on (She's the first science fiction hero from a comic to be adapted into a feature length film and not just a serial like Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers had been). "C'est un paradoxe troublant d'avoir à conjuguer la cruelle histoire de la colonisation avec l'émergence de nos civilisations créoles qui en ressortent comme

d'improbables corollaires. Si cela est vrai de la langue créole et de combien d'autres manifestations

culturelles, c'est encore davantage le cas de plusieurs traditions musicales d'Haïti et tout particulièrement de sa

musique classique. En effet, n'est-ce pas de la conjonction des cultures européennes et africaines que ressort la volonté

identitaire qui caractérise,

aujourd'hui encore, les efforts de création dans ce domaine ? Cette

remarque qui concerne plusieurs villes d'Haïti, s'applique tout

particulièrement au Cap qui, sous le régime français, a été l'un des

centres les plus importants, sinon

l'épicentre du théâtre, de la

musique orchestrale et de l'opéra français en Amérique. Le Cap a

été aussi le creuset où s'est élaborée le plus nettement la mixité des cultures musicales, ce

qu'on appelle aujourd'hui, à la suite du philosophe martiniquais

Édouard Glissant, « la créolisation

». Cet article sera consacré à l'histoire de cette fusion culturelle et musicale au Cap-Français et de la poursuite de ce phénomène au Cap-Haïtien, de l'Indépendance à

nos jours. Les Français de la riche et prestigieuse colonie de Saint-Domingue aspirent, dès 1740, à se

doter d'une vie culturelle à

l'image de leur métropole.
