Here in California we have a lot of environmental protections other states don’t. They really help the people and natural environment to be healthier and happier here. But there are a lot of places in the state where air and water pollution are huge problems. All over the state there are pockets with extremely bad air quality, giving hundreds asthma, making them sick more often, causing cancer rates to exceed the norm, and even shorten people’s lives! Same with water, there are many places in the state where the water that should be clean for people to drink and wildlife to use is so polluted it causes serious diseases and health problems. There are places like San Bernardino county where the tap water is of such poor quality people have to avoid drinking it whenever possible. That’s why there is a potential solution coming up in a proposed amendment to the California state constitution. It could make it so all these pollutants are made illegal, forcing those with power to be rid their harmful business practices and improve California. This amendment will literally save lives, but not enough Californians know about it. That’s why we want to spread the word as much as possible before November when the vote happens. We want as many people to be aware of it and to know why supporting it helps them and their communities.

The California Constitution declares various inalienable rights of the people. The right to enjoy and defend life and liberty, to acquire, possess, and protect property, and to pursue and obtain safety, happiness, and privacy. These are things that cannot be taken away from us. This measure would amend the California Constitution to declare that the people have the right to clean air and water and a healthy environment. I'm strong with the Spring cleaning these days!

A clean, neat (and honestly, also cute!) environment is so crucial for me to stay healthy both physically and mentally.

Like having a clean floor is so important for me to do my daily yoga. And a neat environment with scented candles creates a harmonious environment for journaling, colouring or doing any crafts.

Never take the power of clean, neat surroundings for granted. And I know it can be incredibly challenging to do any sort of cleaning or tidying up if you are not doing well mental health wise. Do just a tiny bit at at time if that's all you can manage and know that you did something good for yourself.

That's one very valuable act of self care and self love (even if you feel like you don't deserve it).

PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric company), a utility company in California, is trying to keep a power plant of theirs, Diablo Canyon, open. To do this, they want ratepayers to pay a new fee based off of "gross energy consumption", which would include what folks are producing for personal use with solar panels.

This is no longer trying to charge people for energy they use that the company owns, this is trying to charge people for power that THEY PRODUCE FOR THEMSELVES with solar panels that they either ALREADY OWN or already have leases with other companies for the power. This is, essentially, a tax on solar power itself.

A Greener Future is easier than people think

Theirs something I just remembered: Trains exist

I know that sounds stupid but hear me out. For anyone not from America or spent time in America we’ve severely underutilized and undervalue trains. As I understand it plenty of other countries even in Europe use trains a lot more often. Our tracks are withered and poorly maintained, we’re behind the times when it comes to them, and it’s for a simple but stupid sounding reason. Automobile Lobbyists. Theirs people in the car industry that want cars to be the end all, be all. If you want to travel cross country and don’t want to use a car then you use a bus or a plane and both are extremely overpriced compared to other countries as a result. Theirs clean fuel efficient trains already but most Americans don’t know that and the ones that do have drank the “cars are better” sauce.

Do you realize how environmentally friendly and economically friendly it would be if we started promoting trains again? Plane prices would go down, we’d have to stop spending crap tons of money just to leave the state, tourism would increase and be more accessible. It’s a good thing for literally everyone except the Automotive Industry.
