Nothing quite like an old fixation on a certain dragon book series to bring my illustrative side back to life. Hopefully I can keep the pencil active through art block.
Mainly all WIPs, will I ever finish them? Who knows, but I’ll leave them here for now.
wof fans calling clearsight a colonizer is a really gross misuse of the term imo. clearsight sought refuge on the other continent and it was through shitty worldbuilding that hivewings existed as a result. the journal being worshipped was just...something that happened well after she died too? like the writing sucks and i agree on that but comparing a fictional character to people who committed atrocities against indigenous populations is just really weird and belittling of irl tragedy to me.
i think clearsights story is so genuinely gut wrenching. everyone always talks about darkstalker but god do i adore clearsight.
she knew. she always knew. but she hoped and dreamed and wished so hard that her visions were false or they would turn the page to a new timeline. but she always knew. she wanted it to be true so badly. she wanted to believe he was good and that he could change. she wanted to change him herself. she hoped that her and fathom being there for him would help but it just gave him more of a reason to gain control.
she knew the kind of person he was but she tried to look past it. she tried to only see him from the good deeds he did. the sweet moments of affection and genuine love, because that's the him she wished he could truly be. she knew he would manipulate him. she knew he would tamper with her visions. she's seen it a hundred times before but she hoped that some small thing would change it in just the nick of time. because she loved him and wanted to see the best in him.
she tried to hard for so long to believe but once she couldn't deny it anymore she made the hardest decision ever. she had to not only leave, but send the boy she loved most away forever. and she'd loved him before they even came face to face. and she would love him for eons after. she had to destroy him to save everyone else. and she was the only one who could do it. and i bet as she slid the bracelet on him she saw a glimpse of the dragon he promised he would be.
and i will forever feel sorry for her.
(also i choose to completely ignore the fact that she is canonically a colonizer. i'm gonna pretend it was never written. she can do no wrong and therefore any wrong doings written are void and incorrect and tui is a liar. she wasn't there? she didn't see?)
