Hello everyone!!!💕 I have uni-lateral cleft lip and palate and as a final year student (Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of The University of Bucharest) for my bachelor’s degree thesis I am investigating religiosity, spirituality and self-esteem in people with cleft lip and palate.

My aim is to evaluate the corelation between our beautiful condition, self-esteem and spirituality/religiosity.

As someone with cleft lip and palate I am asking for your help so I can collect the information that I so desperately need in order to not only finish my thesis but hopefully to also advance the scientific understanding of our condition.

Based on feedback from people whom have filled it in thus far, some might even get some insight regarding their own selves.

The form takes 15-20 min to complete, it complies with international ethical standards, GDPR standards and doesn’t require any identification at all.

My Maxine is 1 year old today. You all have shared so much love for her this past year. I often scroll back and read through your comments. I get emotional and overwhelmed by the thought that so many people, who have never met her, have poured out their love for her through Instagram. You have been there from her very first photos and through her first surgery. I can't tell you how much your support meant during that time. There is so much I could tell you about her and what joy she has brought to my life. But it would take too long, so I will share just a few of my favorite things about her. I was born with cleft lip and palate and was wanting to get corrective plastic surgery for a while. I did some research online and MVP seemed to have good reviews and plenty of experience, with Doctor Choi specializing in areas that I required. Initially I was in contact with Mindy, a coordinator/representative for foreign patients, and later in contact with Elizabeth. Both Mindy and Elizabeth were lovely and very efficient in their roles of coordination between myself and the clinic/doctors. After sending photos, discussing treatment and paying a deposit, the surgery date was secured. I met with Doctor Choi before the surgery to iron out procedure details and discuss any questions/concerns I had. He was extremely thorough in his explanations and I was happy to proceed with the recommended procedures. Everything went smoothly in terms of surgery/recovery and I was most impressed with the post-operative care provided by MVP. There were daily (sometimes multiple) checkups, wound-cleaning/re-dressing etc, and Elizabeth was always available to talk if I needed it. All the nurses were very friendly, gentle and efficient in their roles. It has been approximately one week since my surgery and I have noticed big improvements in both appearance and function. I am glad I went through with this and I can confidently recommend MVP, at least for rhinoplasty/scar/cleft revision treatment. I remember telling Dustin one day, maybe a year or so ago, that we needed to find a really great couple to hang out with. I also remember telling Dustin how incredibly lonely I felt in the weeks leading up to my rhinoplasty. And somehow we met Erica. Erica and I both have cleft lips, we both bear the exact same scars, and gets me when I say stuff like "I snorted so hard last night while eating and laughing, that I got brownie stuck up my nose." (true story, it was last night, it's still there.) Erica gets me when I tell her I want to help people, when we were made, I think we got a heavy dose of "save the world" in us, because that's exactly what we want to do. Everyday I have cleft lip and palate children message me- everyday it's a new fight to make someone feel loved, deserving, comforted, comfortable, and confident. But that's what Erica and I do- we stick up for people, we love those who needed most and I couldn't have the strength to do it without her. She inspired me to apply for an internship at The Cleft Foundation. She inspires me to live my life exactly how I want.
