big man is just an idiot, frye isnt as dumb but she's not the smartest either, and shiver is also kinda dumb and very EGO

Deep Cut serves as the second, third and fourth boss fights in Splatoon 3's story mode. They literally ignore what turns out to be a world ending threat just so they can throw hands with the player because they think you're trying to steal treasure from them despite the fact that has nothing to do with you and your ally's motivations at all. After each of their boss fights they make their exit by throwing a smoke bomb at the ground and blast off Team Rocket style except two of them manage to fumble their exit in some way

Clingyduo

c!Tommy is emotionally intelligent and c!Tubbo is wicked smart but when they’re together they just have no brain cells. They cause chaos and grief shit and steal and have no brain cells. They tried to kill a necromancer and were surprised when it didn’t work. They started a detective agency, got the complete wrong guy, and were accidentally dicks to everyone. They fought in a war.

Dsmp spokesperson sad-ist animated them throwing each other, Tommy told Tubbo marriage fraud was a married couple robbing a bank together (and one of the married people owns a knife. He also forgot straight people existed while explaining this (he is straight) ), they sold Tubbo Bath Water

TOMMY,S LORE STREAM RECAP 3…

(Again, this lore stream DOES contain c! and cc!Dream).

The opening, instead of the usual discs and Zelda music, is pure black and has one of the songs SAD-IST used in their animatics playing.

Clingyduo have been dragged into the prison by Punz and Dream. They admit they’ve lost and surrender. They're only alive because they’ve begged for their life.

Dream makes Clingyduo give everything. Dream beats and burns Tommy until he complies and Tommy is terrified, dropping everything even if it’s in his enderchest. It’s all burnt, except the discs which Tommy hides.

They’re taken to a hidden area of the prison, a platform above lava, and beaten until they agree to fall in. Tommy apologies and Tubbo accepts, but Dream and Punz come along, call it cute, and Dream starts monologuing.

Dream claims he wasn’t focusing on Tommy, instead on Sam, Quackity, and Wilbur (even though the reason he was focused on Wilbur is the discs, which is about Tommy by proxy) and says they doomed the server by nearly destroying the revive book. Tommy says that maybe that’s not bad, and talks about the times Dream went out of his way to harm him.

Dream calls Tommy and Tubbo caring about anything physical when there’s the metaphysical and revival. Tommy says no man should become a God, and Dream asks why not. He mentions continuing the revive book and wanting to become immortal, and knowing everything, and dismisses friends and countries as pointless. He says a life without immortality is pointless.

Punz reveals the staged finale. Dream blames the server hating him on Tommy, and Tommy points out that Dream ruined his life the past two server. Dream blames L'Manberg and Tommy mentions it was uninhabited before and a community.

Dream reveals he mind controlled Ranboo, and that he used him to trap Tommy with him in the prison. He also mentions Lazar and Vikkstar, and Tommy's horrified. The experiments went on for months, and involved EVERY form of death possible.

Dream's discovered the End while playing God, and reviving people has something to do with that. Punz and Dream have also revived each other.

People showing up on the server is a part of death, and revival has screwed it up horribly. The world could end, even. So, Dream's decided he's going to kill EVERYONE and restart the server.

Limbo changes based on how you die, and what happened beforehand. To test it more, and be test subjects. One of them will selflessly sacrifice themselves for the other, by falling onto a pressure plate that will kill the one who lands on it and spare the other.

Punz and Dream leave, and Tubbo and Tommy discuss it among one another. They both insist that they’re going to sacrifice themselves. However, Tommy instead throws the discs on the pressure plate. Out of character, he accidentally missed and he has to get discs spawned in his inventory to do so.

They jump down the hole formed to freedom (there’s another blooper here where Tubbo doesn’t know where to go and dies in lava). Tommy's incredibly distressed, both because the discs are gone and everyone’s gonna die anyone, and loads Punz's house with TNT, blowing it up in anger. Tommy fully thinks of Dream and Punz as Gods at this point.

Tubbo takes Tommy to a safe bunker in Snowchester. Tommy talks about all the things he loves that Dream destroyed- not just the discs. Tommy fully believes they’ve lost, while Tubbo refuses to give up.

Tommy cries beside the sea, about everything he’s lost and how he’s going to die. Tubbo reassures him that they didn’t die today, but Tommy can’t be consoled.

Tubbo takes Tommy into the bunker, and shows him the nukes. He says once Dream was dead, he was going to start developing rockets and explore the stars, hence why he wanted L'Moonberg.

Tommy asks if it’s active, and Tubbo confirms it is, but it’s unstable, and takes a long time to set off and fly. Tommy gets the idea to nuke Punz and Dream, as they’d die together, by Tommy luring them away and having all three of them die together. That way, not everyone on the server will die. He believes it’s all his fault. He thinks he’s even at fault for exile.

He, however knows Dream doesn’t want him dead at all, and is planning on letting Dream kill and torture him until the nuke kills all of them. He wants Tubbo to make a home in his memory, calling it Tommyburg and living happily with his son. Tommy continues to blame himself for Dream doing everything.

Tubbo thinks maybe being tortured is better than dying, and someone can save them, but Tommy says it’ll just be worse, and they’re the adults now. Tommy thinks no one would believe or help them.

The two of them go to look at L’Manberg, and Tubbo tries to cheer him up, and make his last moments pleasant, but Tommy's too caught up in his own self hatred and numb acceptance. Tommy goes to see the flag wave one last time, and asks for Tubbo to build the flag up high when he’s gone, so it flies in the wind, and asks Tubbo to carry on his legacy and tell everyone both of their stories. He takes the L'Manberg photo, says he'll be with Henry, and sits on the bench with Tubbo one last time, watching the sun set without music.

It ends with Tommy saying, numbly, “I’m going to die tommorow.” and Tubbo, crying, saying “Yes, you are.” and the Minecraft OST plays on the end screen.

Ranboo doesn't know what happened to him, just that one day he was tall enough to do all the stuff humans do, then the next day so small that a mouse could probably fistfight him and win. The even crazier thing is that he meets someone just as small, who apparently has been the one taking snacks from his stash, and not a ghost. Great, one question solved and a thousand more left unanswered. At least while they're stuck like this they won't have to be alone, Tommy may be strange but he isn't all that bad, besides the fact he'd probably ditch Ranboo if they revealed they're human. But while it lasts, he doesn't mind seeing more of Tommy's world.

Ranboo gets shrunk and found by a tiny Tommy who decides 'gosh you suck at survival, i'll help you'

Tommy acts like he doesn't know Ranboo was shrunk, but he does

like 'don't interact with bigs, but they're not big anymore so…'

Ranboo doesn't know this but learns interacting with humans is a no-no so keeps their shrinking a secret

Ranboo learns more than they thought about the world at a smaller size

and they do want to be normal height again, someday (…maybe), but his life with Tommy is something they start to cherish, and the tiny really loves having them around

the twist is that Tommy is a fae of sorts that shrunk Ranboo, bc they were interesting and alone and and it seemed like something fun to do, but then feelings and friendship happened

Ranboo will have to find out eventually..

What do you do when your reason for existing is to comfort and make smiles bloom, but you're built of dead things brought back, nightmarish and far too tall? For Ranboo, the answer is to enjoy what he can. Tubbo certainly makes this strange second-first life worth being a monster, at least.

second idea version:

Tubbo might not be real, full of stuffing and magic, but Tommy wants a friend, a best friend, and maybe Tubbo wants that too. So if Tommy thinks he's real enough to be that friend, despite how much smaller he is and inability to go places with Tommy without acting like a normal doll, then Tubbo is happy. Tommy may have done some questionable magic because he was lonely and desperate, but Tubbo is amazing, so he doesn't regret it. If only others could see it the same way.

Angst angst angst?

ended up with two ideas oops:

Ranboo is a minigiant frankenstein's monster kinda creature (created by Tubbo because Dude Is So Alone He Reanimated A Corpse For Company)

OR Tubbo is a life-like doll brought to life to be a friend (clingyduo and magic)

whichever idea, they have existential issues and put their worth into how useful they can be

both want to be able to go out into the world but don't, because they know if they're seen they'd terrify or unsettle people

Ranboo idea: sad times, fluff times, and sneaky outings with Tubbo

maybe at some point Ranboo's thoughts that he's a monster get real bad and he's convinced he'll hurt Tubbo and runs away to some woods

so then Tubbo has to go find him and bring him back before other people find him and think he's some monster come to terrorize them

who knows maybe Ranboo will even make some friends in a surprising twist?

Tubbo idea: lots of 'im not real' thoughts but also sweet friendship times

possible interference from other people coming back into Tommy's life since the magic to make Tubbo may or may not have been illegal

insisting that Tubbo isn't a real friend and this isn't healthy

Tubbo would normally agree, but seeing how much it hurts and upsets Tommy he might have some Choice Words instead

do these stories have happy endings? I wanna say yes, things work out, issues are eventually addressed, and there is lots of holding small friend in arms throughout.

Never Ever

The lives of borrowers are far from easy, even if they have family, but that doesn't mean it's terrible or always dangerous. A skilled or very sheltered borrower especially has very few worries, to the point that the universal rules of borrowers can be disregarded. But there are times when borrowers are reminded of why these rules are important, so that the worst never, ever happens.

after much thought, a 5+1 story

like '5 things a borrower should never ever forget and 1 thing they do' or something along those lines

5 are angst or close calls, etc. and 1 is good times, fluff

maybe tiny bedrock bros?

or five borrowers, one chapter each, with a borrower problem or angst, and the +1 is something nice with them all together

A Race to one's demise

Slaying a giant is no easy task, especially one as infamous as The Lady Death—giants are already enough trouble without magic, thanks. Yet a few people head out for her territory anyway, not from any real drive to kill giants, simply because it was the only option given that lets them live a little longer. Their odds still aren't good, but really how much worse could a giant be from what they came from? (... No, yeah, probably worse.) Kristin and Phil find some truly exhausted kids on their doorstep and decide to invite them in, which they surprisingly agree to. The hard part is getting them to stop the halfhearted murder attempts and open up.

they know they're going to die. will they actually? nah

a handful of people are chosen for what's seen as a suicide mission

(probably benchtrio + wilbur and techno for these guys)

the mission/quest is to steal a magic item from a giant

they all upset the leaders of wherever they're from in some way, so this is those guys' way of either getting them to redeem themselves or get rid of them

both options seem like death though, if not immediate then eventually

they also specified that only one of them can come back victorious, so they're all doing their best to reach the giant's territory before each other, using sabotage or whatever they can, maybe even a little attempted murder or two at the start

near the end of their journey though there is talk of teaming up, because really None of them are capable of taking down a giant alone

The Lady Death is what they call her, a giantess that lives on the edge of a wasteland, who scoops up travelers that come too close never to be seen again

there is a lesser known story about the giantess that some of them know, saying she is more benevolent than she seems, with an angel on her shoulder

if you prove yourself to the angel she will listen and grant you passage into the wastes where, supposedly, there is a lush sanctuary somewhere (Philza's builds inspired?)

none of them actually think this version of the tale holds more truth, but it does stick with them, the tiniest idea that maybe they have a third option that's not 'death now' or 'death later'

Lots of build-up? since i want it to be g/t but the main giant only appears later. more focus on the stories they know and what they imagine they'll find

also run-ins with 'smaller' giants on the way

Obviously Kristin and Philza just gain a bunch of tired, scared kids from this

the story after that likely has found family as a main focus whereas it was more like a subplot when benchtrio+twinsduo were traveling

Twisted Fates

Being a crown prince sounds great unless you're actually a crown prince; Techno would much rather live far away from people, never having to deal with their problems, only whatever challenges come his way. Wilbur longs for a life where providing for himself isn't a constant struggle with danger wherever he looks, a life where he can relax or even meet people. Just watching and swiping the occasional thing from the royalty in this castle isn't enough to fulfill this dream. Until Techno wakes up to the disorienting sight of the castle far larger than he recalls and Wilbur is suddenly big and visible and sees an opportunity for both of them. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time might've just fixed both of their problems, or given them entirely new ones.

for this one I've settled on swapped sizes and royal au

twinsduo. Techno is (reluctantly) a crown prince and Wilbur is (enthusiastically) a borrower in the castle

Wilbur happened to be sneaking around the same room Techno is in when some magic mishap happens, swapping their sizes

princess and the pauper situation where they realize they look very similar and think the other's life sounds amazing so they swap places

I like giving borrowers tails so Wilbur has to either pass his off as the magic accident or hide it, same with his hair or he dyes it

and Techno still has bright pink hair he's unwilling to part with so he stands out a bit too much sometimes

but they seem to be having fun? at least for now. no care for fixing the situation yet

Philza is the king who loves his son very much but starts suspecting this might not be his son

angst and misunderstandings and reveals, by the end of this Phil has two sons

i wanna know everything about parfait eret love herrrr

This is a HEFTY ramble sorry in advance. Here’s an Eret doodle for forgiveness ❤️

When Eret was a teenager she made good friends with a group of totem people, one of which was of course Foolish! Back when Eret was younger being related to herobrine had a certain stigma around it, other people associated her with death and destruction because of her ancestry so Eret was sort of a social outcast </3 Though Eret has withering abilities the totems taught her healing magic too. And throughout all of their travels together the group became almost living legends! They spent almost a hundred years together and Eret learned all sorts of magic. Though as the years went by their numbers decreased until it was just eternal duo, who split up after foolish killed an entire village.

I don’t know exactly how Eret lost their memories but it wasn’t all too long ago. She already lived alone in her castle but after being wiped clean they threw themself into full blown isolation. Just wandering through this dark labyrinth filled with objects they didn’t recognize and an outside world they felt completely disconnected from. It wasn’t until wilbur and his new family moved in near by that Eret started going outside again and actually talking to other people. Being around these people gave Eret a sense of purpose again and it made her really happy. Wilbur really brought Eret out of their shell and after Sally passed Eret tried to become another parental figure for fundy. Then later on kid niki showed up on Eret’s doorstep practically begging for an apprenticeship as a mage. Which greatly confused Eret but like. What was he just going to turn away this young sobbing girl? So now Eret kind of has two kids and is outgoing again and starts talking to locals often and queue the events of the dsmp woooooo

POST the events of the dsmp Eret is kind of lonely, Wilbur has completely disappeared from her life again just when Eret thought they’d started getting along again. And while she’s happy that clingyduo killed a certain someone now she doesn’t see any reason to even try putting together the knights of hope. Most crushing blow of all is that almost immediately after Hbomb moved back into the castle he left again and took his cats with him. For some reason she can’t fathom, being alone like this gives her a horrible sense of déjà vu. BUT BUT BUT BUT eventually FUNDY starts trying to reconnect with Eret and brings his tiny son with him as well.. things get even better when fundy brings a very nervous and guilty H with him one day. Eret’s just happy they’re both back in her life and they’re going to have a BABY soon. Eret’s so excited that they insist the couple and yogurt stay with at least until the baby is born. And soon after niki returns to Eret as well. She’s Yogurt and Granola’s eccentric grandma and she’s very happy to be assigned that role, although her adoption of fundy fell through they still consider themselves family. Suddenly the museum isn’t the only important thing in Eret’s life anymore cause they’ve got a family again and it motivates her enough to go out and continue their talk with foolish.

Eret still gets bouts of confusion and loneliness in regards to her memory. Thinking about the people she loves and being told stories by foolish about their previous life together helps a bit but of course it doesn’t solve the problem completely. And that’s okay! Eret will of course always be grieving the part of them that they’ve lost and there’s no way to just magically regain it. But they’ve got a lot of their life left to live surrounded by people who love them, her museum is important to her but Eret isn’t trapped in the past. For the first time in years she’s actually actively excited for what the future holds.

I am!! I'll recap the past three streams as briefly as possible, and tell you whether or not dream is a large part of it. this is longer than I'd hoped for so it's under a read more

stream 1 - tommy wants to talk to tubbo. tommy leads tubbo to a bunker he created under his house. he revealed that he has formed a sort of addiction to invisibility potions because they ensure his safety. he explains that he lives in constant fear, and dream is the reason. he says that while invisible one time, he saw dream enter the prison, so he figured that it was dream's home he wants to kill dream, and tubbo is on board with the plan. tubbo goes to eryn for supplies, and tommy goes to wilbur's revival spot and begins to speak to the sort of grave site. he explains that he's afraid that he's bringing tubbo into the wrong thing, and that he's scared but also excited to fight dream. he says that he knows that wilbur is proud of him. then phil approaches and they talk about wilbur briefly. tommy says that he loves wilbur, he literally says "I love him." (so awesome great moment). phil learns of tommy's plans and gives tommy armor. the stream ends in high spirits. dream is not in this stream at all.

stream 2 - tommy and tubbo enter the prison. it looks very overgrown and doesn't seem to be in commission anymore. they sneak through and eventually find dream, and the fight begins. they fight for a bit, and they notice how dream is much weaker than he used to be. at one point in the fight, tommy freaks out and enderpearls into the main prison cell, and tubbo follows. tommy accidently blocks them in, and they believe that the fight is over. however, tubbo finds a bunch of harming potions from the little chute in the back corner of the cell. he splits them with tommy, and they throw a bunch of them at dream, making him very, very weak. this allows tubbo to kill dream, taking his final life. clingyduo celebrate and leave the prison with plans to create a new country, called l'moonberg. they tell badboyhalo and sam about their win, and the two are excited to hear the news. they tell punz as well, and punz says that he has something that will be good for their new country. they follow punz into this weird, underground bunker. clingyduo catch wind that something is off, and punz reveals that he's not the only one with a revive book. clingyduo run away, but punz and the newly revived dream catch up to them. dream is in this one, but he barely speaks at all.

stream 3 - clingyduo, dream and punz are in the prison. dream demands that they drop all their items and empty their enderchests. they comply. tommy even gives away the book that wilbur gave to him before leaving. the only thing tommy keeps are the discs, because he knows that dream believes that they were burned by wilbur ages ago. the pair are lead to this platform surrounded by lava hanging from the ceiling. dream and punz are not in this room, but in a different one, where they're still visible. dream and punz explain that they have been experimenting with death, and that they want to live forever. through their research, (which was killing lazar and vikkstar repeatedly) they learned that limbo is determined by how you die. they feel entitled to this information, as if death HAS to be explored. they explain that because the world is so imperfect, they must kill everyone and potentially revive them, just to start over again. basically, they're causing the apocalypse. they want to see what limbo would be like for someone who dies via self sacrifice, so that's why they've trapped clingyduo. they made a contraption where if a pressure plate is pushed, an opening would be revealed and would set only one of them free; one must die for the other to live. dream and punz leave to get grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch (not kidding) and clingyduo are left alone. tommy reveals that he has the real discs to tubbo, and tommy tries to throw both of them on the pressure plate. tommy doesn't do this well and it's a blooper, but both tommy and tubbo are able to make it out of the prison, but both of the discs were destroyed. tommy is obviously very upset by this. tubbo takes tommy to snowchester and shows him the nuke that "went missing" all those months ago. tubbo suggests that they use it to kill dream and punz. tommy realizes that they have to be killed at the exact same time so one of them doesn't revive the other. tommy says that he will distract dream and punz and get them in the same place so tubbo can set off the nuke to kill them. tubbo is put off by this plan because it would kill tommy (literally eviscerate him) but tommy insists that it's the only way dream and punz can die at the same time. with some pushing, tubbo realizes that it's the only solution. the pair leave snowchester, and tommy is in very low spirits. he makes note of his last walk on the prime path, his last time passing the hotel, etc. tubbo tries to lift tommy's spirits, but isn't successful. they decide to visit l'manberg one last time, and they watch the flag wave. tommy asks tubbo to build the l'manberg flat up above the rubble for him, and tubbo agrees. they sit on the bench one last time, but in silence, because the discs are officially gone. they watch the sunset together one last time, and that's the end of the stream. dream plays a big part in this one.

Hunter/Warrior!Dream and history nerdbur 💀💀💀💀 wil got bored one time and decided to stalk that one legendary immortal reaper who just disappeared one day

hii how are you doing today? :)

Had a lot of fun with this one so it's gonna get a bit long lol. Or, maybe not super long, but it feels dense to me. I've packed it with a lot of worldbuilding. There's still cute madduo moments but this is actually mostly worldbuilding oops.

(this is written as platonic intimacy, but y'all can interpret it however you'd like)

Millennia ago, Dream was a feared warrior and necromancer who was practically a god. Some even argued that he was a god or that he made a deal with one. Some stories said he toppled empires with the Blood God, whilst some stories made it seem like the toppled empires were merely a casualty of fights between the two. (Both were right to some extent: Dream & Techno were long time rivals but also friends, and they often turned their toppling of empires into a competition of sorts).

Dream ended up befriending two mortals: Sapnap & George. They went on many adventures together, and, for a while, they were even known as heroes to some. All of them were legends in their own right, and the Dream Team were known throughout the lands. But only one of them had the benefits of immortality. Eventually, Sapnap & George died, and that was when Dream disappeared. He took away most records of himself when he left, and all that was left were stories told by word of mouth and old books in the back of very old libraries.

Wilbur is a scholar from a small town in one of the many kingdoms in the land. His favorite pastimes include annoying his younger brother (Tommy) and researching forgotten and forbidden history. A part of his fixation on history comes from the fact that he knows nothing about his biological parents—he remembers cold yet comforting embraces, the sounds of crows and ravens, and faded voices telling him stories. He was found by Tommy's parents when he was very little, and they've been the only family he's known.

One day he finds a story about Dream, and something about the story feels so familiar, so he begins to search for anything and everything he can find about this mysterious legend who seems to have been erased from history. He spends many nights holed up in his room trying to figure out where Dream disappeared to and most importantly why.

At some point, Wilbur is on the verge of making a discovery. A big discovery. As in, he's about to connect some dots that point towards the world as they know it being in danger. However, after he goes to sleep that night, he wakes up to the village burning. He manages to get Tommy out, but their parents aren't so lucky. All of Wilbur's research has gone down the drain. But, luckily, he has a good idea of where Dream has been this whole time.

But there's one problem: Tommy. Tommy's not quite an adult yet, and for all the teen proclaims himself as "a big man," Wilbur can't put him in danger. Wilbur ends up taking him to a friend's place in the nearest city (it's Schlatt's place who's Tubbo's dad—yay clingyduo). Tommy argues because he wants to go with Wilbur. And, maybe it's a shitty move because their parents just died and it's understandable that Tommy would want to stay with his only living relative, but Wilbur leaves in the middle of the night. (He leaves a plush sheep named friend for Tommy <3). (Also this 100% leads to clingyduo sneaking out themselves and looking for Wilbur. They end up running into an enderman hybrid with amnesia but who may or may not have some connections to a certain Blood God).

Eventually, Wilbur ends up in the hidden valley where Dream resides. Dream, feeling someone pass through the magic wards is understandably cautious. So he goes to investigate (re: hold an axe to Wilbur's throat), but then in a very uncertain voice, Dream asks "are you Phil and Kristin's son?"

Now, Wilbur is, understandably, confused. Because he doesn't recognize those names. Because he grew up with adopted parents. So, then, he turns to questioning Dream despite still having an axe to his throat.

The thing is, Wilbur undeniably has traces of Phil and Kristin. There are his looks, of course, but Dream's a necromancer who's spent much of his immortal life in the presence of gods despite not quite being one himself. He can feel death lingering around Wilbur in a way it only would with a child of death. But, Wilbur doesn't show any signs of godhood nor immortality nor magic. He doesn't show any signs of being a hybrid either. It doesn't make sense.

So, in the end, Dream ends up as fascinated with Wilbur as Wilbur is with him.

Wilbur sticks around. It's due to a mix of factors: their mutual interest in one another, the fact that it's safer for Wilbur within the valley, and because of what Wilbur knows. The information he's discovered that put him at risk in the first place is something Dream needs to know.

As Wilbur sticks around he's introduced to Sapnap & George—

("I thought they were dead?"

"And? I'm a necromancer."

"Ah, yes, of course. Then where are they?"

"My necromancy abilities may be slightly weaker than they used to be. They're ghosts."

"Ghosts?"

"But they're able to occasionally take a really cute blob form.")

—and learns more about why Dream disappeared, and more about who he truly is. Dream's the protegee of one of the elder gods—ExDee—and he was on the path to godhood before, well, everything. ExDee noticed a corruption beginning to spread that could affect even the gods. So, to stop the spread, xe (xe/xem pronouns for ExDee because, uh, yes) sealed xemself in The End and locked the dimension away from the other realms. It worked, and it rendered the corruption within ExDee dormant, but it was too late—due to ExDee's connection with Dream, Dream was also affected.

That's the true reason Dream disappeared. He cut off all contact with the other gods (and this is why his necromancy powers are weaker—he could still raise armies of the undead, but to breathe life and souls back into a body requires special favors from Kristin), and he magically sealed himself into a hidden Valley. The corruption, when magically cut off from the rest of the realm, remains dormant, but Dream can't leave because he hasn't found a way to purge it completely.

Unfortunately, it seems that the origin of the corruption has found more ways to worm itself into the realms.

Dream & Wilbur work together to try to find solutions to this. Wilbur helps the dream team in their research on how to purge the corruption from Dream, and they also work together to try to learn the origin of the corruption and thus how to defeat it once and for all.

Through this all, though, Dream is doing some research of his own: most importantly, he's trying to figure out why Wilbur doesn't show obvious signs of being Phil and Kristin's kid and why he doesn't know his parents.

(The reason he doesn't know is because Phil & Kristin & Techno and a bunch of other gods were essentially called away due to the corruption worming its way into the overworld. They didn't know anything about it due to ExDee & Dream disappearing before they could share what they knew, so it was an unknown variable. Phil & Kristin sealed Wilbur's divinity to keep him safe).

Whilst all this happens, Dream & Wilbur get closer. Dream's the only person Wilbur can talk to (he can't see ghosts and he can't understand Sapnap & George when they're in their blob form), so he gravitates towards the immortal a lot.

They'll dance in the kitchen, cook together, cuddle in bed, garden, and overall do a lot of domestic stuff. When they're researching they get distracted by their banter which inevitably ends with the two of them laughing from the dramatics of it all. They'll read stories whilst curled up next to one another. It's overall really soft.

One night they're stargazing and Dream shows Wilbur some of his scars. There's intimacy in the way Wilbur softly traced the marks. It was at that moment that they both realized how close they'd become and how much they cared for each other.

Soon, Dream finds a way to break the seal on Wilbur. Dream's told Wilbur some stories about his parentage (which Wilbur soaks up with rapt attention), so Wilbur's excited to unlock this part of himself.

It goes worse than they'd hoped. Turns out, the seal also locked away his avian heritage, so he immediately begins the winging process which usually happens when avian hybrids are fledglings. It's really, really painful, and the entire time Dream's calling upon any healing magic he knows to ease the pain.

Wilbur passes out for a week, but he's okay in the end. Dream spends a lot of the time hovering in worry, and Sapnap & George end up taking shifts watching Wilbur just so that Dream will get some sleep. (Most of the time Dream falls asleep next to Wilbur anyway, but at least he's getting rest).

The recovery (and discovery) period for Wilbur involves him leaning on Dream for a lot of stuff. Though, with his newfound connection to death, he can actually interact w/ Sap & George in their ghost forms, so a lot of the time they'll snitch on Dream whenever Dream is overworking himself. When this happens Wilbur basically drags him to bed for cuddles under the guise that it's for Wilbur's benefit.

Dream guides Wilbur through his new powers to the best of his abilities, and Dream also preens Wilbur's wings (he has experience, luckily). Wilbur wants to learn to fly, but that's an area that Dream can't help with.

("How about you just jump off the roof?"

"Sapnap! You're going to get him killed."

"Wait that's perfect. Wilbur. Wilbur. Join the ghost squad. We're so much cooler than Dream."

"George! Stop! Wil, why are you laughing? They're trying to kill you!")

(In the future, Techno will find his way to Dream's valley, asking for help in saving Phil & Kristin. He'll be oh so familiar to Wilbur, and Techno will look at Wil and wonder how much time has passed. The toddler he told stories to is now fully grown.

Techno will speak of a child from the end with memory problems who may be a key part in stopping the corruption. Eventually this will lead them all to bench trio—and Tommy will yell at Wilbur for leaving him—and the story will have a happy ending, though not after plenty of hardship.

For now, though, there's impromptu karaoke nights, pillow fights, and stargazing. There's naps on the couch and arms wrapped around one another. There's teasing and banter and dramatics fitting of theater kids. There's forehead kisses and nose boops and intimacy. For now, there's a moment of peace—a calm before the storm).

Thoughts on the Finale

Honestly as someone who watched Tubbo’s POV of the finale first it was sad and tragic, but not too unfairly so. C!Jack appearing and their interactions together were fire. Tubbo having to talk himself into flicking the lever? Banger. The nuke effects? Cool as fuck. cc!Tubbo went so fucking hard that stream as he has in the others, pouring his heart into every moment. When I had watched this stream I was sad but largely alright with the ending. Would I have loved L’Moonberg clingyduo happy ending more? Of course. But this was fine.

Then I watched Tommy’s perspective. I thought he was just talking whatever to keep c!Dream and c!Punz occupied. But then the death happened. And the execution of the ‘c!Tommy gains insight into c!Dream’s motivations’ was just too sloppy, too close to an abuse victim forgiving their abuser. Just a smidge more care to ensure c!Tommy understanding c!Dream’s motivations but not condoning his methods would have been 100 times better. Just one sentence. And then the section in the ‘new world’. Just.. why.

Anyway I have been through this before, more than once. I know how to deal. How to take the best parts and cherish them. How to read fanfictions that explore unexplored parts and fix broken elements. Where to look for joy and heartache and laughter.

If you are in this boat, I believe you can do it as well. This community is strong, creative, and passionate. Meta writers, artists, fanfiction creators, all of you who create the content that brings people in. If you wish to continue I’ll be honoured to see what you make <3

Anyway, I’ve talked a lot about Tommy without talking about Him, so let’s do that.

I was expecting Tubbo to be part of his group, but having him be there as just Tomys friend is so funny. It’s also adorable. (And it probably says a thing or two about how stubborn Tomys is, since he probably refused to go without him). Their dynamic very much gives “Your majesty, this is my emotional support best friend”.

Having Jack as a guard is giving me Stars flashbacks. Probably as intended. It’s funny that he is now Tomys guard instead of Wilbur’s. I was not expecting Puffy, but I probably should have. She’s there to make sure Tomys behaves, but she still has a lot of work to do about the etiquette. She also gives me the vibes of someone who deserves a raise.

Side note: did Niki or Quackity come with extra entourage? Like Niki was a baby, but Quackity was similar in age. Or is this unusual? (Also, I love the throne and crown, I’m sure that doesn’t have any ominous relation to certain tags on this fic)

Anyway, Tomys first impression reflects very badly on Sam. As we learn in chapter 3, everyone figures out why Tomys is there. And he’s clearly a bad first choice as a heir. (As in, if Sam were to die right now, Tomys would do terribly compared to Niki or Quackity).

He comes off as just a kid, which he is, but that’s not something you can be in this situation. None of the other kids got to have a normal childhood. On top of that Tomys is kinda a little brat, for a noble child at least, and not in the way those kids are normally brats.

But Sam seems rather fond of him. He’s very patient with him and all his blunders. I think he’s a kind king, but *looks at chapter 3* he’s not the brightest. It becomes very clear, very quickly that Sam did not think this true at all.

Like part of his decision process is wanting to decide something for himself because he’s self aware enough to know Phil is pulling the strings, but not smart enough to actually do it himself. So he brings Tomys and is all secretive, but then he didn’t talk it through with anyone and missed so many implications because he’s just living in his own world. But then he doubles down which is incredibly childish, but he wanted to make a desicion for himself and refuses to acknowledge that it’s backfireing (which is a very worrisome quality to have in a King).

Though I think some of it might just also be actually indecisiveness and wanting to buy himself more time to chose because he clearly doesn’t know who to pick based on how he asked Schlatt. He’s just digging himself a bigger hole and I’m scared he’ll double down further and will pick Tomys in the future just because Phil doesn’t want him to (can you tell I do not like Sam? Very good writing job on that, btw).

no literally I was trying to figure out a position for tubbo that wasn't 'personal servant' just bc I didn't feel like doing that for this fic, and when I couldn't come up with anything I was like "...it's clingyduo tubbo would come just as his emotional support bestie" and then I thought back to how in historical movies you always hear about nobles having their ladies in waiting/companions/friends showing up with them everywhere like an entourage and I was like huh that would work

lol yeah after stars I'm a bit of a sucker for writing jack manifold as a guard again. he's just so good in that type of role, although I'd say he's going to have a smaller role here than he had in stars (though who knows I also didn't think stars!jack would play a very big role and look how that turned out). and of course tommy needed an adult chaperone so I thought of puffy. she's so tired of this shit.

yes, niki and quackity both came with entourages of their own although I'm not going to mention them bc I can't think of characters they'd be and I don't like throwing ocs into my fics for more than just a few lines here and there. except since niki was brought to the palace so young she essentially came just with her nanny and some guards, and when she was eventually given ladies in waiting they were provided by the palace not by summerdam. quackity was a little older so he showed up with a tutor, guards, and probably a private servant. still working out details on backstory stuff you know how it goes

yeahhh the thing is tommy's immaturity is pretty prevalent right off the bat, and while he's not overly bratty by noble kid standards, by potential future heir to the kingdom standards he's terrible. and it says something about sam's ideas towards leadership that he only just met the kid and has a bit of a soft spot towards him, because he doesn't know tommy. not at all. but he thinks he does.

i'm glad you don't like sam. he's meant to be a very messy character in rose. someone who so clearly wants to be good at this game he's playing but is just so blatantly not which causes problems for everyone else around him
