Normally I would make crossover collages, but after I did a GoldenHeart collage I thought it would be fun to do one that focuses on Clive Rosfield x Jill Warrick from Final Fantasy XVI. I'm a fan of Fire-Ice couples and even though I never played the game I did enjoy their love story from walkthroughs and game movies. Some say that the two have a similar energy to Cloud x Tifa of Final Fantasy VII.

On Tumbler there are a few people who are calling their "Warrose" and "Warfield," but there might be other titles I haven't come across yet. So until then let me asked you call this question, which one of the two titles sounds best?

Hi this post contains spoilers so please don't proceed if you haven't played/finished/watched the walkthrough (perhaps, who knows? ) anything about ffxvi I guess.

This post contains spoilers alright? No regret after reading this, you've reached the last fortress of the non-spoiler part.

Hear me out. It's great how ffxvi managed to make two different sides of siblings and... let's say partners? First, Joshua and Clive with their heartwarming relationship, meanwhile Dion and Oliver with their tense relationship (well, I blame the mama and dada but other than that, that kid is hella.... suspicious too)

Second, the relationship between Jill and Clive, nice, warm, calming, loving. While Benedikta and Barnabas... fear lingers her, afraid that she'll be abandoned again. Hugo and Benedikta, I guess this is kind of like.. hard to bear. Hugo can't accept the fact that Benedikta is dead, he loves her soo much that he ended up also dead too. Also from the start, it doesn't feel like the relationship actually works that well. Next, Cid and Benedikta... Oh this one is kind of tragic. Cid left Benedikta because he can't bear her and his king any longer, yet she still long for him sometimes. It's sad how Cid feel bad after her death, how he mourned over her, for the fact that this outcome is not what she wanted to be. Even though they've left each other, somehow they still care a bit. Also sad fact is that... They all died. Hugo, Cid, Benedikta. Perhaps in another situation, this shouldn't happen.

Oh don't forget about Jote and Joshua plus Terence and Dion. They're all a pair of great partners. But, you see how different all of the partners in game?? Some have a nice caring relationship, some filled with regret, some filled with fear.

it was squall for the longest time, then seifer sometimes (I alternate in my mind) I was 5 or less when my brothers bought the ffviii walkthrough magazine and I fell in love with the game and aesthetic, I've dreamt in playing and when I was 12yo I finally bought it, it was 20 reais (4$) but then at the disc 3, the game crashed at disc 3 and I had to make something like opening my ps1 so the cutscene could cut and the game could play it, I haven't seen the ending until I've went to a lan house and see at the youtube (wasn't a big deal for me since I could play the game tho)

now I can play it on my pc, I just don't have the remaster can you believe it? I accept giftssssssss 🥰😍 its 60 reais here (12$) but in a promotion 30 reais (7$, because paypayl grabs a few for international exchange lol) adgzjsjdhxj

This has probably been done before, but I don’t know where to find it and it’s something I’ve had on my mind for a while (warning: lots of spoilers for Professor Layton and the Lost/Unwound Future).

How many people died in Clive Dove’s mobile fortress attack on London?

I’m going to use a playlist of Unwound Future cutscenes and an Unwound Future walkthrough I found on youtube to try to calculate this. I’ve already made a post on this on reddit, so if reposting like this is bad internet etiquette I’m sorry but I’m doing it anyway.

Let’s lead with the assumption that no one in Underground London died. The summary of the mobile fortress attack is that Clive raises his fortress from the Underground Thames, tears a hole in the “ceiling” of Underground London (destroying a swath of the London above), climbs up to the surface, fires some missiles, walks the mobile fortress forward through London for a length of time (destroying buildings beneath the feet of the fortress) and then the engine of the fortress is reversed, the fortress returns the way it came, falls into the hole it created and explodes. 

First things first: the hole. We get to see it in cutscene 33. It’s an ellipse about 18 buildings wide and 12 buildings across. The area of an ellipse is given by pi times 1/2 width times 1/2 height, which gives us an area of 169.646 or 170 houses. Clive Dove destroyed 170 houses when he tore that hole in London. 

Next the missiles. We only actually see nine missiles fire, which is nine more buildings destroyed. That’s 179 so far.

Now the walking. In the game there’s a point where our heroes come to the core of the fortress where Bill Hawks is trapped, the machine attuned to his heartbeat. Celeste (Claire actually but I respect her pseudonym) takes out her watch to switch into the machine for Hawks, but the watch only runs for ten minutes at a time and when the watch runs out, the fortress will self destruct. After the switch, they reverse the engine of the fortress, causing it to change direction to go back the way it came. It self destructs after it falls into the hole it created, meaning it was moving backwards for ten minutes, meaning that the time it was moving forward into London causing new damage is also ten minutes. 

The fortress takes a step every two seconds. Ten minutes is 600 seconds, or 300 steps. In cutscene 28 we see a part of London where 28 buildings are crammed together and one of the fortress legs comes down and crushes them all. But let’s give Clive the benefit of the doubt and say that this is a particularly dense part of London, and most of London is less dense, let’s say 3/4 as dense. Let’s also say that the back legs of the fortress step exactly into the holes created by the front legs. This means that 21 buildings are destroyed every time the fortress takes a step. Extend this across 300 steps and you get 6,300 buildings destroyed simply by the fortress moving forward.

The total is 6,479 buildings. But how does this translate into people?

In cutscene 28, we see that Clive Dove is attacking a residential area of London at night. People are at home with their families. We also see that many of these buildings are apartment complexes with multiple families per building. For the hole that Clive tore through London to get to the surface, there was no warning and no chance to run away, so for those initial 179 buildings I’m going to say 5 people died for every building that was destroyed. After this, people had a chance to run away from the hulking machine advancing on London, so I’ll say only one person died for every building that was destroyed.

For reference, the September 11 terrorist attack in the United States killed 2,996 people. The London Blitz during WWII killed about 40,000 people over an eight month period (numbers courtesy of Wikipedia). 

Clive Dove killed 7,195 people in a matter of 20 minutes.

This would throw London, and the UK as a whole, into a spiral of panic and grief. It would certainly affect legislation and public opinion going forward. The London of LMJ and LBMR, 23 years after the attack, seems normal enough, but there are without question scars left behind. 

I love Clive as a character. He’s well written, compelling, believable and entertaining. I think it’s great to see all the fanfiction, fanart, and AUs about him. But I do think the fandom could do more to acknowledge the sheer damage and loss of life he caused canonically.

I suppose I'm going to write a long writing about my experience with Barnabas inside fanfiction.

It's not like I'm against people's interpretation about him but I find it interesting how most of people perceive him as a character whose life filled with nothing but sex. How he praised Clive? Sex, how he interact with Sleipnir? Sex. It's really.... interesting? I suppose? Perhaps it's just on me who haven't explored the fic more but so far, just after I finish understanding the game, watching the walkthrough, watching some video essays in July, most of the fics are indeed filled with that aspect. I've found some that do not contain sex, but surely the gap between the one that contains sex and the one that do not contain is kind of big

For me, I think there still bunch of different aspects from him that we can explore. Perhaps his past, his belief, how he ended up with Ultima, his first encounter with Cid, Benna, Sleipnir. Anything. Of course most of the fics are good!! They're fantastic even, but I feel like this is really interesting because people kind of interpret him similairly.

I didn't really understand it at first but I remember getting so obsessed with it and then other people in my class got the game and I ended up helping everyone with the hard puzzles and thinking I was a proper boss because I completed the game and nobody else could. Back in the day, nobody knew what walkthroughs were.36) Has a moment in the games ever scared you?~ There were a few moments in Curious Village- the scene where Don Paolo gets busted for disguising as inspector Chelmey really creeped me out for some reason (I think it was because the Reinhold Manor music stopped playing and you just hear the beeping of the text bubbles) and also when Ramon goes missing and you have to walk around at nighttime is kinda unsettling. Other than the curious village, I don't think there were any moments that truly creeped me out.Thanks for asking!! ^^
