South Korean pop-rock band CNBLUE returning to Malaysia for first concert in ten years

Tickets to 2024 CNBLUE Live 'CNBLUENTITY' in Kuala Lumpur go on public sale 29 February while pre-sale registration opens 23 February with limited fan benefits available

South Korean pop-rock band CNBLUE is finally making their long-awaited comeback to Malaysia after almost ten years!

Jointly organised by Hit Maker Entertainment and Lo-Fi Entertainment, 2024 CNBLUE Live 'CNBLUENTITY' in Kuala Lumpur will be rocking the stage at Mega Star Arena, KL on Saturday, 20th April 2024 at 8 p.m.

CNBLUE, which made their South Korean debut in 2010 under FNC Entertainment, comprises of frontman Yonghwa leading the vocals and guitar, Minhyuk on the drums and Jungshin on the bass.

A combination of the band’s name with the word “identity”, CNBLUENTITY sets out to encapsulates the trio’s identity.

The band will once again captivate fans in Malaysia with their era-defining hits such as I'm a Loner, I'm Sorry, Love and Can’t Stop, among many others, along with brand new materials as they take the stage that extends to the crowd in showcasing their electrifying showmanship while vibing up close with BOICE – the band’s fandom.

Throughout their career, CNBLUE has recorded songs in Korean, Japanese, English and other languages with a discography that spans 11 studio albums, 14 extended plays (EPs), 33 singles and three compilation albums. The band has received numerous awards such as the Golden Disc Awards, Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) and Melon Music Awards.

Music aside, the three members have also taken up acting, appearing in recent K-dramas – Yonghwa played the lead in the comedy drama Brain Works (2023), Minhyuk starred in the hit drama Celebrity (2023), while Jungshin played a leading role in the romance comedy Sh**ting Stars (2022).

South Korean pop rock band CNBLUE returning to Malaysia after nearly 10 years

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 — South Korean pop rock band CNBLUE is returning to Malaysia.

After nearly 10 years since their last show here, the three-piece band will be rocking the stage at Mega Star Arena KL in conjunction with their CNBLUENTITY Asia Tour which will be happening from March until April.

Other Asian countries that are currently on their list include Singapore, Thailand and China.

The band debuted in South Korea back in 2010 under FNC Entertainment with three members including lead vocalist and guitarist Yongwha, bassist Jungshin and drummer Minhyuk.

Music aside, the three members have also taken up acting, appearing in recent K-dramas – Yonghwa played the lead in the comedy drama Brain Works (2023), Minhyuk starred in the hit drama “Celebrity” (2023), while Jungshin played a leading role in the romance comedy “Shooting Stars” (2022).

A/N: For my lovely B, I do hope you like this. Admittedly my instant idea was 1920s for Jungshin, but the idea was more towards angst/romance, and I’m glad I decided to change it, even if it’s been late in getting posted today. I’m probably not entirely accurate with the era with everything, but for the window of time I had to research and write this, I’m really happy with it! xxx

You were sick of the glitz and glam every weekend. The novelty had worn off; much like the overstayed welcome of several people who lingered in your home long after the music stopped playing. You were over the pretentious conversations, the gossiping of other people’s failures from those who were just as flawed.

You were done with social expectations.

As the only daughter of the biggest business conglomerate in the city, you weren’t exactly able to escape any of it. Even on the rare occasions where you feigned a terrible headache and opted to spend the night in bed, the garden party below would still go on. From the third floor of the family estate, you couldn’t avoid the buzzing of the affluent. The jazz band would play into the early morning, and you would be just as frustrated up in the confines of your own bedroom as you would if you went downstairs to join the festivities. And so you often would fold, unable to enjoy the parties but disliking the walls that entrapped you within the house equally.

It was yet another weekend and another party. The bankers were jovial, talking of how prosperous the financial year had been so far, and the current strength of Wall Street. The celebrities gushed over new silent film offers and the women all sported the short-bobbed hairstyle that had swept the nation by storm. There were a few women who flitted around from one occupation to the next, looking for someone to start the American dream with.

And then there was the band setting up for the next round of songs. With a champagne flute in one hand to look the part and steer anyone clear of offering to get a drink for you, you wandered around the party, looking for a corner to hide in. You knew that it wouldn’t be long until someone chose to spoke to you about your Daddy’s company, or sought out your time to get into business with your family. You were tired and the band had only played one set so far.

You turned your attention to the quartet, noticing that they weren’t the same band your Daddy usually hired. They were all rather tall, yet the one holding the string bass was the tallest. You watched him prepare for their next segment, expertly checking his instrument and then he looked to the drummer who took a seat and lifted his drumsticks on the ready. The pianist loudly cried for them to begin and you listened to their upbeat music, fascinated that they could create such a sound without a single woodwind instrument. They were energetic and unlike the bands that usually played at these parties, they refused to remain in the background, welcoming the clapping from those who gathered around. This spurred on their playing. You smiled, moving closer to the quartet, your gaze shifting from one member to the next. The drummer smiled often, the guitarist was throwing his head back with the rhythm and the pianist grew livelier with the increasing crowd. When you finally looked to the bassist again, you were transfixed. He wasn’t really paying attention to the party; he was lost in the music. You watched his nimble fingers pluck and flick at the strings, creating a unique sound. Soon you weren’t aware of anyone else around you either, the music transporting you to a place that made you float along in ecstasy.

And you hadn’t had a single drop of champagne yet.

When the song ended, the group that surrounded the musicians dispersed except for you. Blinking slowly away from your magical state, you blushed immediately, finding the bassist staring right at you. He smirked and then turned to his band members, promptly ignoring you. You watched his back as your frustration built and you gave him a final glare before stomping off to the garden pergola by the lake. There you sat for the remainder of the party, trying not to give the music that filtered down to where you were any mind.

Except, you were truly captivated.

You replayed the expression on his face over and over, smiling lightly at his passion. You had seen countless people play music over the years, but none seemed to be as engrossed with their art as he had. You wondered what kind of formal training he had, if any.

You hoped that he would teach you at least some.

“Don’t be foolish,” you scolded yourself outwardly, shaking your head. Your mind shifted to the way he had coldly ignored you and your grip on the skirt of your evening dress bunched up in your fist. You let go, only because the embroidered sequins dug into your palm of your hand through your gloves.

“Do you always talk to yourself?” a voice asked, and startled, you turned to see who was there. You blinked once and that smirk he had given you before now returned. “You left the party?”

“I needed fresh air.”

He shrugged and sat down, leaving some room between you both. “The party is outdoors, yet it became stuffy for you, Princess?”

“Prince- I’ll have you know, I’m nothing of the sort!” you spluttered and a chuckle vibrated its way out of him. Even the noises he made were like music to your ears. You glowered at the lake in front of you momentarily before snapping your focus to him. “Why are you here?”

“Well, I didn’t know there was a place off-limits to me.”

“Are you always this condescending?”

He smiled, his gaze amused with your flustered state. “Are you always hiding away?”

You faltered, staring at him and trying to decipher how he had come to that conclusion. He rested back on his elbows, stretching out his impossibly tall frame beside you. Finally, he glanced at your troubled expression. “I didn’t ignore you.”

“Well,” you started, opening your mouth and then closing it when no other words followed. You huffed out a breath and then looked back at the lake. “I wasn’t exactly looking to gain your attention.”

“Really?” he asked, and when you stared in his direction again, his gaze implored you to tell the truth. His infamous smirk crossed his lips again and you struggled with whether you wanted to wipe it away for good, or continue to encourage it to remain there. “Should I go, Princess?”

“Would you stop calling me that, you have no basis to call me that.”

“Aren’t you my boss’ daughter? The one who never enjoys Daddy’s parties?”

You froze, unsure how he knew such a thing. This was his first time performing here. The man grinned at you and gently reached out to finger the edge of your dress. “You’re also the best dressed here. Are you sure you’re not a Princess?”

“I may look the part but I am definitely not afraid to step out of my social status either,” you announced, hiking your chin up in defence. He laughed and you swivelled in your seated position to face him. “Why do you laugh?!”

“I should have ignored you after all. I feel you might be trouble.”

You smiled, triumphant. “And why is that?”

“Because I want to make you prove it,” he said, the humour leaving his handsome features. You stared back at him for a moment, wondering what he would expect from you. And then suddenly, before you truly grappled at the consequences of such a decision, you leaned over and pressed your lips to his.

To say he was surprised was an understatement and you blinked rapidly before yanking away, your cheeks reddening the same shade as your lipstick. For a moment neither of you made a move.

And then he laughed.

He laughed so heartily that it stunned you. But it was so infectious that you began to join in, soon clutching at your sides as they began to ache with your lively gesture. You turned to him. “Why are we laughing?!”

“Because if that’s how you plan to prove to me that you’re not just some rich man’s daughter, I don’t know what else to expect from you,” he replied, reaching out to place a hand on your shoulder so he could settle himself. Once the laughter rippling from within him dried up, he smiled at you, shaking his head incredulously. “Is that truly how you kiss a man?”

“Well, I-”

“Wait, don’t tell me that’s the first time you’ve kissed a person before,” he continued, chuckling along with his statement. You didn’t respond immediately and he hiccupped back his amusement, eyes wide as your silence answered him. “It was?”

“And you just laughed at my first kiss as well,” you grumbled, folding your gloved arms over your chest. “I’ll be forever haunted by this, you know.”

“Really?”

You nodded once.

“Wow, and you gave it to me?” He became still, processing the situation. “What is your name? You kissed someone without knowing who they were.”

“Yet you kissed me back!”

“Hardly!” he remarked, shifting closer to you. “Your name?”

“Y/N.” You looked up at him and sighed. “Surely, you knew it already since you guessed who I was. Everyone in this city knows of my family.”

“Y/N,” he repeated, his smile now genuine. “Surely you should know my name too.”

You glanced at him and then scoffed. “Very funny. I’m sorry to deflate your ego, but tonight is the first time I’ve ever seen or heard of you. I have no name to refer to you by.”

He kissed you then, languid, soft. His hand reached for the side of your neck, cupping it gently as he continued to steal your breath and your heart. You didn’t want this to end, though you began to feel dizzy with the lack of air. When he finally pulled away, he smiled, brushing your hair behind your ear. “That is how you really kiss someone.”

“Without giving a name?” you somehow managed to answer, and he let out a breathy chuckle. Standing up, you watched his steps in confusion, wondering where he would go right now. You stood up yourself, your gaze pleading for him not to leave. He groaned and returned, cupping your face again.

“You’re trouble,” he told you, pecking your swollen lips softly. “And I’m Jungshin.”

“You’ll be in trouble if you leave me here, Jungshin,” you uttered and he gave you an exasperated look. You let out a deep breath. “You can’t just kiss me like that and disappear!”

“And why not? The party’s over. Don’t you need to return to your home? I heard someone calling your name just now.”

You gasped, wondering if it was your maid that had been sent out to collect you like usual. Despite worrying about if you got caught with one of the band, you moved towards Jungshin’s side, looking up at him. “Still, you can’t just disappear.”

“I should have ignored you,” he concluded, shaking his head at himself. He then pointed down the path you both had to take to return back to the garden. “Do you know what happens when you perform well at an event, Y/N?”

“You get paid well?” you guessed and he smirked, shaking his head and taking your hand in his. “Your ego inflates from how many people clapped for you?”

He laughed. “You get asked to return and play again. So am I really disappearing for good? Even if I weren’t playing here again next weekend, I’d find a way to get back to you, don’t worry. I don’t just kiss anyone.”

You smiled, his hand that held yours letting go so he could head back before you. As you watched Jungshin move out of your view, you knew that whilst you were over how parties had previously been, you now had something to look forward to for the next one.

K-Drama Review Series: “Cinderella and the Four Knights”

Good Evening Everyone! I'm back with another k-drama review. This is irrelevant, but while writing this review there are thunderstorms in my area. I'm not scared of thunderstorms but my mother and I heard and felt thunder that was equivalent to an explosion. I'm not exaggerating. But anyway on to today's review on "Cinderella and the Four Knights".

"Cinderella and the Four Knights" is a 2016 Romantic Comedy starring Jung Il Woo, Ahn Jae Hyeon, Park So Dam, and CNBLUE's Lee Jung Shin. This k-drama takes some of the elements from the well-known fairytale from our childhood, "Cinderella".

Ha Won (Park) doesn't have the best family circumstances. Her mother passed away when she was younger and her father had remarried to a horrible step-mother with an equally horrible her step-daughter. She's a high school senior trying to make ends meet so she can go to college. After getting into a mix up with cousins Ji Woon (Jun) and Hyu Min (Ahn), their grandfather ends up hiring her to live with them and their younger cousin Seo Woo (Lee) to straighten them out. There aren't many rules set for them, except none of the cousins can date Ha Won. At first, this rule seems way like it doesn't need to be made, but of course, when you live a house with three handsome cousins, it would become difficult.

One of the things that I love in this drama especially, is that there is a strong female lead. It didn't take me long to respect and like Ha Won's character in this drama due to her personality. Ha Won knows what she wants to do in life and although she has lots of odds against her, she can still make it happen. She still needs some help of course, but when people see her personality and earnestness, this makes people respect and want to help her.

I also love how she handles the boys, mainly Ji Woon and Hyu Min. It's hilarious how she would respond to their mischief and immaturity. I also understand why the cousins are the way that they are, especially Ji Woon, since he's considered the "outcast" of the family.

Touching briefly on the cousins they each had lost their fathers and each of them goes through their own personal problems and trauma. Ji Woon's parent's relationship wasn't approved by their grandfather and lost mother when he was younger. Hyu Min had lost his best friend to an accident that he blames himself for which is why he constantly pushes Hye Ji away whose his first love and his late friends younger sister. And Seo Kang feels isolated while having to maintain brave face since he’s a singer.

It's an enjoyable drama that really helped me to better understand the value of family. I love my family and enjoy spending so much time with them. But once I started college last year, I was more focused on my own interests and independence and I didn't contact my family that much. Due to multiple things like this drama, COVID-19, etc. I spend almost all my time with my family now. Our family is the ones that will always be there for you, that something that we must always remember. Also family isn't always people who are related to you by blood.

Anyway if you enjoyed this drama tell me what you enjoyed the most. Mine of course was the scene where they all collectively took a vacation and everyone had gotten drunk lol. If you haven't I hope you consider it!

Mes dramas préférés, les must watch !

Les indémodables (et mes préférés au monde)

City Hunter

Un jeune homme n’a qu’une mission, venger son père en abattant cinq hauts fonctionnaires du gouvernement. Pour cela il se fait engager en tant que garde du corps du président.

Kill me Heal Me

Une jeune psychiatre se retrouve avec un patient aux personnalités... multiples.... On rit, on a le coeur qui bat à la chamade et on pleure devant ce drama qui nous fait tout ressentir en 20 épisodes. Et puis Ji Sung quoi....

Healer

Un jeune mercenaire est engagé par un célèbre journaliste pour retrouver une jeune fille. Ils vont se retrouver tous les trois à travailler pour le même journal.

Les destins de ces trois personnages n’ont pas fini de se croiser...

Descendants of the Sun

Une docteure se voit affecter sur une base militaire, où elle retrouve un jeune militaire d’élite rencontré quelque temps plus tôt en Corée.

Master’s Sun

Une assistante pouvant voir les fantômes et souffrant d’insomnies trouve refuge auprès d’un PDG ambitieux et froid qui a la faculté de faire disparaitre les fantômes quand elle le touche. Il lui permet de rester à ses côtés en échange de son aide pour chasser les fantômes de son entreprise.

Si au départ les fantômes sont un peu effrayant, ça ne reste pas longtemps le cas !

Bad Guys

Un détective au fort tempérament est autorisé à recruter 3 criminels pour aider à combattre les crimes violents. Il rassemble alors un gangster, un jeune tueur en série au QI élevé, et un tueur à gages.

Boys over Flowers

J’ai vraiment besoin de présenter ce drama???? C’est le classique des classiques. 4 sales gosses aussi beaux que riches font la loi dans leur lycée privé réservé à l’élite. Ils croisent le chemin d’une pauvre boursière. Claaaassique qu’on vous dit!

Secret Garden

Une talentueuse cascadeuse et un homme riche et arrogant qui se détestent, échangent malencontreusement leurs corps. Ils vont devoir alors cohabiter et s’entraider.

On retrouve dans ce drama plein d’humour Hyun Bin et Ha Ji Won!

Les indétrônables (et mes préférés au monde)

Goblin

Je peux disserter pendant des heures sur mon drama préféré. C’est mon Top 1 de toutes les séries, tout pays confondu ! Kim Shin, général durant l’ère Goryeo est maudit à sa mort: il revit et devient un goblin. Immortel il est condamné à voir ses proches mourir. Ji Eun Tak est une jeune écolière, qui voit depuis toujours des fantômes qui lui murmurent qu’elle serait la fiancé du Goblin. Un jour son destin croise celui de Kim Shin....

Tout est parfait dans ce drama : les personnages secondaires comme principaux sont bien développés, les images sont sublimes et les OST magnifique. Il y’a une véritable poésie et une très belle mélancolie dans ce drama qui se dégage de chaque épisode.

Crash Landing on You

Une PDG arrogante atterri par erreur en Corée du Nord, où Hyun Bin porte magnifiquement l’uniforme militaire.

Parviendra-t-elle a rentrer chez elle en Corée du Sud?

The King: Eternal Monarch

Mondes parallèles et Lee Min Ho qui décroche enfin un autre bon rôle (oui c’est dur comme jugement). Par la scénariste de Goblin. Il vous en faut plus?

Bon d’accord, le scénario tient la route du début à la fin, les personnages, loin d’être clichés, sont très bien écrit, les OST vont enchanter vos oreilles ! Seul bémol: les (trop) nombreux placements de produits....

Chicago Typewriter

Un écrivain souffrant du syndrome de la page blanche reçoit une vieille machine à écrire hantée par un fantôme qui semble l’avoir connu dans sa vie antérieure.

J’aime beaucoup ce drama qui joue sur deux époques, les années 30 pendant l’occupation japonaise et le présent !

Ceux qui prennent ton coeur et le brisent (mais tu aimes quand même)

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

Tu ne peux pas dire que tu as souffert en regardant des drama si tu n’as pas vu celui-ci. Tu ne connaissais ni la douleur, ni la rage, ni la peine avant de regarder ce drama.

Le résumé? 14 princes, 1 seul trône, et au milieu Go Ha Jin, une jeune femme du XXIe siècle qui se retrouve propulsée durant l’ère Goryeo.

Angry Mom

Tout laisse penser que ce drama est drôle à commencer par la bande-annonce, mais tu pleures au bout de 2 épisodes. Une mère découvre que son enfant est harcelé au lycée et décide d’infiltrer l’école pour découvrir ce qui se passe. Elle va découvrir que les petits voyous ne sont pas les plus monstrueux de l’école.

Uncontrollably Fond

C’est triste, c’est beau, la romance est belle et réaliste. La vie n’est pas facile pour les personnages mais le drama adoucit la notre. Il faut regarder.

Les pommades pour le coeur

You’ve fallen for me

Lui est le BG du lycée, mystérieux, guitariste et bien sûr insupportable. Elle, étudie les instruments anciens avec son grand-père tyranique.

Le drama sera l’occasion de découvrir un des instruments traditionnels de Corée, le gayageum. Des ost très sympa et 2 membres de CNblues en prime ! C’est cadeau!

Madame Antoine

Un psychiatre qui croit que l’amour n’existe pas compte bien le prouver en faisant une expérience sur une médium fleur bleu.

J’ai une tendresse toute particulière pour ce drama. Déjà à cause des acteurs principaux que j’aime beaucoup, mais surtout pour l’ambiance de la série et ses personnages.

Another Oh Hae Young

L’un des plus beaux baisers de dramas jamais fait à ce jour.

She was pretty

Deux amis d’enfance se retrouve après des années de séparation. Elle qui était si jolie enfant, l’est beaucoup moins, tandis que lui est devenu très beau.

C’est frais, c’est fun, avec le quasi même cast que Kill me Heal me ! Le message derrière pourrait ne pas être ouf (devoir être joli pour réussir et conquérir l’homme aimé) mais le drama s’en tire pas trop mal.

Chief Kim

Pour changer un peu de la romance, suivez un génie des chiffres un peu truand qui va remettre une entreprise dans le droit chemin en s’occupant de la comptabilité. La bromance est bien présente, on rit, on s’attache à tous les personnages et on ne voit pas le temps passer avec ce drama !

Hyde Jekyll Me

Le titre est plutôt parlant! La directrice d’un cirque réveille l’alter égo du PDG d’un parc d’attraction. Ici c’est la deuxième personnalité qui est douce et chaleureuse tandis que notre héros se montre froid et sans coeur. Il y’a Hyun Bin et Han Ji Min en leads principaux, ça devrait suffire non?

Jealousy Incarnate

Une miss météo est amoureuse depuis toujours du présentateur vedette de la chaîne. Quand celui-ci commence enfin à s’intéresser à elle, elle décide de fréquenter son meilleur ami.

Doctors

Park Shin Hye en ancienne brute, reconvertie docteure grâce à son mentor. Une belle histoire, de vie, de rédemption et d’amour.

It’s Okay to not be okay

Tim Burton rencontre la Corée. Une actrice d’album pour enfant antisociale rencontre un infirmier d’un service psychiatrique qui a un frère autiste. Une magnifique histoire, des visuels à coupés le souffle et des personnages extrêmement attachant. Un des meilleurs drama de 2020.

Cinderella and the Four Knights

Une (pauvre) jeune fille est engagée pour réconcilier 3 cousins qui se détestent, mais elle a interdiction de sortir avec l’un d’entre eux...

Man to Man

Comme dans Chief Kim, pas ou peu de romance à l’horizon. Mais au programme un agent secret forcé de protéger une vedette de cinéma. Entre scène burlesque et action légère, on suit l’amitié grandissante de ce duo.

Ceux qu’on ne peut pas oublier

I hear Your Voice

Grand classique aussi des dramas coréens! Une avocate au passé trouble croise le chemin d’un jeune homme (Lee Jong Suk) qui peut lire les pensées. Il va l’aider à résoudre certaines affaires judiciaires.

W - Two Worlds

Une interne en chirurgie se retrouve dans le monde parallèle d’un webtoon créé par son père. Elle y rencontre le personnage principal: un jeune homme aussi beau que riche.

Ce drama est bien plus qu’une simple romance, on balance entre fantastique, mystère et comédie!

Doctor John

Une jeune interne rencontre dans la prison où elle travaille un ancien médecin condamné pour avoir euthanasié un de ses patients. Elle le retrouve quelques temps plus tard dans le même hôpital où il est devenu le chef de son service, en anesthésie.

Un beau drama avec en fond la question de la douleur, de l’accompagnement en fin de vie. Ji Sung interprète sublimement cet anesthésiste de génie.

Mes autres coups de coeurs (moins connu)

My secret Terrius

Un agent secret recherché pour trahison, aide sa voisine, mère de deux enfants à faire la lumière sur les mystères du quartier.

Les personnages secondaires sont très bien développés, attachants, et nous fournissent une bonne dose de mignonitude.

Investigation Couple

Un médecin légiste ronchon, soupe au lait, de génie enquête au côté d’une jeune procureur.

That Winter, the Wind blows

Un voyou décide de se faire passer pour le frère disparu d’une riche aveugle afin de toucher sa part d’héritage, mais il ne reste pas insensible au charme de la jeune femme...

C’est doux, c’est triste, c’est beau et les acteurs sublimes.

Les dramas prometteurs qu’il faut voir mais pas maintenant car après c’est fini...

Le nouveau drama de Kim Eun Suk (Goblin, The King éternel Monarch, Descendants of the sun, the Heirs, secret garden... enfin vous voyez pourquoi je veux le voir ) !!

Le nouveau drama de Lee Jun Ki....
