I don't know how much I like it or if I got things like lore or personality right, but its progress.. this is for a fic I wanna write of my Grillby AU, this part isn't done yet ofc. Theres more text under the image too

The Reapertale!Grillby concept/idea is from @callmeherry ! I got permission from them to use it and i'm very grateful to them for that. I have also gotten permission to use Code so I may work on that part next. I am not writing the parts in order at the moment so I have no clue which chapter in the fic this will take part in...

This will be a multi-AU fic, including many AUs like Underfell, Underswap, Mafiatale, ect ect, so if you want your AU included in here then feel free to send in an ask or anything? I do plan to ask some other AU creators i've seen on here (ken-tfc, omakpia) but I haven't gotten around to it or i'm too scared

Hi hello this is a very cute ask ty!! I always kind of...forget? To talk about them?? But uh, yeah!! (Appearance ref since I never post abt them lol)

Generally I like to hc Source as, essentially, a mailman, a deliverer of all sorts of things, so they wind up familiar with most everyone in the underground, even if just passingly. They have a very Amelia bedelia style sense of direction, where they never quite know where they're going, or where things are, but they somehow always wind up where they need to be regardless.

After surfacing, in a scenario where they would've been one of the "main" crew to help Frisk along their journey, I like to imagine they wind up working with the embassy as a sort of event organizer, so of course there's plenty room for interaction between them and the gang!

As for their opinions...

Toriel sees them as a sweet if not at times oblivious little creature. Very friendly and feisty, but she worries about how many concussions they've accumulated over the years...

Sans is mostly amused by them. They can be very clumsy yet capable at the same time, so it's sort of like having his own irl looney tunes character to watch whenever he notices them somewhere. Personality wise they're a bit too upbeat for him, but they're easy to prank, and generally a good sport about it, plus they like puns, so like. Cmoooonnn

Papyrus definitely likes them! They're not so much friends as they're like two dogs that bark at each other through the fence whenever they're both outside (in a friendly way). Ironically, they're not quite up to his and Undyne's speed energy wise, but they can usually match his levels of silliness just fine. Only downside is they like his brother's jokes (they like his too though so it balances out).

Undyne, Alphys, MTT, Asgore, Flowey, Frisk, and Grillby below the cut!

Undyne is mostly just like (nicely) what is wrong with that thing. With Waterfall being one of the more perilous locations, she's probably seen more of Source's near death experiences than anyone else, yet they always seem blissfully unaware. They also seem to sleep as much as Papyrus, except they have a slightly sort of off vibe about them that makes Undyne worry a little. Is otherwise friendly, even if she has yelled at them to pay more attention on a few occasions lol

Alphys is...kind of indifferent to them? They're friendly and not very intimidating, but come across as a bit of an airhead at times, and miss a lot of social cues, so they tend to make Alphys feel even more awkward than usual, but! That doesn't mean she really dislikes Source or anything, just that they're not totally compatible as friendly acquaintances. They also kinda remind her of Papyrus and...she has enough of that in her life after her and Undyne start dating lmao

Mettaton...has a mostly positive view of them! They always brought him fan mail underground and were happy to chat about him and his show, so he generally just sees them as some upbeat, friendly fan! They gave him weirdly heartfelt advice once and it made him feel uncomfortably vulnerable at the time but it gave him a little genuine fondness for them in the long run

Asgore is as friendly with them as he is with any monster! They feel kinda weird around him though, and it makes him feel kinda weird, so they always interact a little awkwardly, but plenty polite all the same! They call him flower power sometimes and he doesn't know how to feel about that 👍

Flowey...he knows them better than anyone, in some ways. He knows they put up almost as much of a facade as Papyrus. But how much of it is an act vs how much is genuine is constantly in flux and it antagonizes him. They know more than they let on, and it frustrates him when they're kind to him. They're playing with him just like he plays with them, and he doesn't like that. Gradually becomes more indifferent to them over time, but he’s already got his hands full with Frisk and Papyrus, he doesn't need another freak to join the club.

Frisk likes them! Sees them as sort of like. A babysitter type? Not that they need one, but it's not as close as a sibling relationship. Maybe more like an older cousin. They love going on "adventures" with Source, and are really the tie that binds them to the others, since they want them to be incorporated with their little makeshift family, but for some reason they can't ever quite seem to get Source closer to all of them...

Bonus: Grillby is grateful for their services, but damn do they always seem like they're this 👌 close to becoming collateral damage personified lmao

Some info below

Firewall can see code others are made of around them like an aura around them. He can also lightly edit code of his surrounds. He can't make things that weren't there appear but minorly change something. Like changing a cherry drink to grape or a burger into stake. Small things

His vision without the glasses his pretty bad as he's very nearsighted. Though the not being able to tell who's who properly is a downside.

Everyone in his sight is broken up into 3 "base forms" Tale, Fell, and Swap depending on their origin

Characters who fall out of this like Ink and Fresh are very burry to him without his glasses though he can see Fresh's parasite form vaguely.

Though Error turns into classic sans when he doesn't have his glasses

He has met all the peoplewntioned above and more

He doesn't have a true place of residency he hangs around the omega timeline at times but often when sleeping he can be found in a white void that just has a glitched grillbys and a small cabin house. He's very reclusive

in my head im picturing Diavolo as Asgore (seems very fitting.......I wonder why........)

I think in terms of personality Simeon would best match Toriel's character, but I think it would be way more hilarious if Lucifer was Toriel welcome to my ted talk

diavolo and simeon were indeed asgore and toriel respectively in my notes, but the idea of diavolo and lucifer being unamicably divorced is also really funny

i think because simeon was toriel i also had luke as asriel and then lilith as chara... there wasn't really much of a way to preserve all the casts' original relations though

BUT i did read through someone's tags on that ask and i also really like the idea of luke playing monster kid.. though this does leave a very important role empty so i'm not sure what to do there then

actually while i'm here i'll pull up my old notes and summarise!!

in one iteration wiz and alecto were alphys and undyne for obvious reasons

in another iteration levi and satan shared alphys' role and this was the one i ended up going with because i couldn't think of anything else for them otherwise. i think i settled on just having them be constantly re-countered enemies without assigning them to a given ut character instead

asmo was mettaton (correct guess by the person who left the tags!!), where his original name is 4-S-M-0 ('4th-generation showman-mercenary, 0' where the 0 represents his kill count), but ik misreads the serial code on his casing and he decides he likes it better

he starts out as a box that just rolls around and talks out of it in a really muffled voice, and then then he emerges from the box in full glorious android form later for death by glamour

he was originally a show-bot for entertainment, but then diavolo requested security measures after hearing that a human fell into the underground; instead of replacing the show-bot program, levi just wrote a human-killing program on top of it

then they started rooting for ik on her journey and tried to switch the program off, which unfortunately was prohibited BY the code, so they ended up putting asmo in the box instead. unfortunately he figured out how to move around in it

barbatos was muffet, i think mostly for the baking and tea parties angle, but in hindsight he could also be grillby

as for sans, i had two characters shortlisted: lucifer and belphie, it was a toss-up as to whether i wanted to preserve sans' personality more or his brotherly role more

as mammon was papyrus and simeon was toriel i figured i'd use lucifer for the relationships and ended up making belphie napstablook

beel was undyne, and instead of collapsing out of heat exhaustion and being given water he was going to collapse out of hunger and be given cookies

i decided to keep the "two royal scientists share the role" theme and had solomon and mephisto both share gaster's role

solomon was the origin of human folk tale about the ghost of a disappeared "man on the mountain" which was originally the reason ik ventured up there; in actuality he'd fallen into the underground

i don't think i developed the details but eventually they were both destroyed by their machine and end up observing the story from a sort of higher dimension

ik meets them after her neutral ending, and they send her back to the ruins to simeon to begin the true pacifist ending

i couldn't decide how to make that happen but i think i was going to just have her die to the omega flowey battle at the last minute? that or something else gets her when she goes to leave

she also would've heard their conversations in the void between resets

astaroth was burgerpants. i don't know why i did that but it's really funny now

alatus was the bird that carries you over a disproportionately small gap
