Potential victims are directly contacted via social media, tricking them into installing the infostealer under the guise of a game. #CyberThreat #SocialEngineering 📦 Infostealer malware is primarily distributed through malicious .pkg installers containing a trio of harmful scripts. The scripts act as a Firefox infostealer, a password extractor, and an uninstaller. Surprisingly, the uninstaller was found to be non-malicious. #CyberAttack 🚀 Other versions of the Realst stealer come packaged within applications via .dmg disk images. Some malware samples were even code-signed with an Apple Developer ID, which has since been revoked. However, ad-hoc code-signed samples will continue to launch since their signatures cannot be remotely revoked. #AppleSecurity #CodeSigning 💻 From a behavior standpoint, Realst samples appear similar across variants and exfiltrate key user data. I really think we lost something in game console design over the years. Maybe it's just the retro appeal after the fact, or secondhand nostalgia for parents' and cousins' machines I played with as a kid, but I love the look of the consoles in the 70s and 80s. Sure, some of them were ugly as sin, but some of them were gorgeous.

The Magnavox Odyssey, released 1972. The Odyssey series were true games centres, and came with games boards and accessories as combo boardgame/video games. This thing just looks futuristic, even fifty years later.

The Odyssey 300, one of its successors. Who says the 70s were all brown? This one came out in 1976, so we're still in preprogrammed consoles here.

The TV Tennis or Electrotennis, by Epoch Co. Released in Japan in 1975, the country's first home console. All these games were basically tennis games, like the classic:

Atari Home Pong Tele-Game. Simple, clean, means business.

The Color-TV Game Block Kuzushi. This was part of the first series of Nintendo consoles. This particular one was released in 1979 and played a Breakout-clone. Shigeru Miyamoto codesigned this one, two years before creating Donkey Kong.

The Fairchild Video Entertainment System or Channel F from 1975. I love the wood veneer finish. We should bring that back. Pure 70s. This was the first console to use game cartridges, and the first console with a pause control!

The Bally Astrocade. Also known by various other names, but "Astrocade" is unbeatable. Released in 1977, discontinued, then relaunched around '82. Very sophisticated for its time, with 28 "Videocades" available holding one or two games each.

The Atari 2600, AKA Atari VCS and Tele-Games Video Arcade. Released in 1977, and it looks like it. It looks like it's made of chocolate.

The Epoch Cassette Vision, a strange cart-based console from Japan in 1981. It played a bunch of arcade knockoffs but looked sleek and futuristic doing it.

The original Nintendo Game & Watch, playing Ball, released in 1980. Created by the legend Gunpei Yokoi, who also invented the D-Pad!

Paul Bettany Brings Cinematic Flair to Eyewear With Codesigned L.G.R Capsule Collection

MILAN — Paul Bettany designing a limited-edition capsule collection for Italian hip eyewear brand L.G.R was pure serendipity.

The British-born but U.S.-based Bettany — best known for his roles in “The Da Vinci Code” and as Vision in the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” Avengers franchise — has been a fan of L.G.R frames for a long time and the brand’s founder and chief executive officer Luca Gnecchi Ruscone was of course taking note, until he slipped into the actor’s DMs on Instagram.

“When I first came across an L.G.R sunglass, I was in Capri and I was in this little boutique, looking for a pair of sunglasses. I can’t remember what model. I think they were a black, aviator [style]…and even before I put them on my face, you could feel the quality and the care in the hinges….That’s when I fell in love with L.G.R,” Bettany said, Zooming in from a movie set.

Since then he’s been wearing the brand’s eyewear with gusto until “Luca slipped into my DMs, I think is parlance of the modern era,” Bettany said.

“I threw an arrow, hoping that Paul would respond. And he did,” echoed Gnecchi Ruscone. “I saw he was wearing various models. He loved them. He was sharing them with his family, his children, his wife, in his private life. I said, maybe we could take it a step forward and do a collaboration, and maybe he can design and make his own model. And then it happened,” he said.

The four-piece L.G.R x Paul Bettany capsule is based on the signature Jambo design, a rectangular, slightly chunky acetate frame.

We just started to discuss what the frames could be, and also design new frames. And we thought the most expeditious way of doing it was to pick a frame that I already loved. And that was hard for me, because there are a lot of frames that I wear, [but] the Jambo has sort of a timeless elegance that I really love,” Bettany said.

The design was reinterpreted in two bold sunglasses options, an amber frame with blue mineral lenses and a quartz rose iteration with brown lenses. Playing by a more understated playbook, the two prescription versions feature Havana and see-through brown frames.

Bettany described the result as “cinematic.”

Somehow these frames feel iconic, and I can imagine them in a movie,” he said. Which one, he had no doubt about: the 2000 British crime drama “Gangster No. 1” in which he played the role of Young Gangster.

“I think in my job, creatively, you make something, and it ends when the film ends, and with this, the idea that somebody will be wearing this in their life and having experiences and building their own story, a story that I won’t know, I find [this] really exciting. That’s a very new thing for me,” Bettany said of the process — for the most part conducted remotely, Gnecchi Ruscone added.

“Paul has real experience about eyewear. He knows and speaks about details, about other brands, about shapes, like a true connoisseur of eyewear. So, him appreciating my product, it was great. Collaborating with a personality, a celebrity like he is, but also somebody that knows about eyewear quality and recognizes it was very gratifying,” Gnecchi Ruscone said.

“He created some models that will be a great addition to the collection, because they are this very classical model — thick, masculine — but he twitched it [into designs that are] very commercial, but sexy, cool at the same time. I was very happy that he didn’t go for the traditional route…we created something exciting that the market, I think, will really appreciate,” he enthused.

The collection is to debut on Thursday at L.G.R flagships and on the brand’s e-commerce site, as well as at select retailers globally. Prescription frames retail at 320 euros, while sunglasses come in at 380 euros.

The Hollywood star fronts a dedicated ad campaign shot in New York by Max Montgomery, who is known for his portraits of leading international actors. Bettany describes his fascination with eyewear as a real addiction — “When I travel…the sunglasses and glass frames are my one indulgence. I bring a whole box of glasses because things look different with different clothes,” he said. "I love looking through vintage glasses stores…going through those drawers of old glasses [at vintage stores]. And actually, one of the stories that Luca first told me…of him finding all the frames he found, [was] sort of reminiscent for me, of when I love looking through drawers and drawers and drawers of glasses,” the actor said.

L.G.R was officially launched in 2008 by Gnecchi Ruscone. The Italian entrepreneur visited Asmara in Eritrea, where his family and particularly his grandfather Raffaello Bini, who had had ties with the African continent throughout his life, ran a small optician business named Ottica Bini. Gnecchi Ruscone discovered a handful of vintage Italian eyewear at his grandfather’s warehouse, brought them back to Italy and jumpstarted his eyewear brand aimed at resurrecting and repurposing those styles.

They are a full on Shadow-like edgelord probably with a sad backstory and all that bullshit (im sure ill make smthn up eventually). This started as me doing an art study of the IDW Sonic comics art style by looking at one MILLION ref images and drawing the most self-indulgent, me-coded oc as possible. They have it all: a swrod, a fucked up eye, a cursed arm motif, red, thigh-highs, they pronouns.

this actually has inspired me to make a full 3 person villain team to go with Flamberge since that seems like the only logical thing to do. I will also design the maladroit Overlord prob but ive got 0 ideas for it so far lol. im drawin the team "big" character rn and im gonna force my bf to codesign the third w/ me :3c

hi ive been working on my gag calculator for unm

there's a couple big things lots of people will care about, and then a couple big things only a few people, or maybe just me will care about.

the biggest thing the most people will care about is custom gags, i think this is the only gag calculator that allows for users to input a gag with a custom amount of damage, which i think is pretty cool!

ive also started using github actions to build releases rather than my own hardware (since my laptop running windows died and i currently cant otherwise make a windows executable lol) which also allows me to make executables for operating systems besides windows, and throw them in releases.

so i can now make macos executable releases! i cant actually test them myself because i don't have a mac, but in theory i think they should work! one fear is that pyinstaller's automatic codesigning is not good enough and it doesn't let you run the program without turning off security features, which wouldn't look good in the readme LOL

github actions also lets me automatically build and publish the python package versions as well, so those will now be cross platform and update beyond 4.2.0, which is nice. so sorry to the 3 people who use the python package it isn't up to date 😭

the python packages also let you run the command "tt-damage-calculator" in your terminal to open the calculator now instead of "python -m tt_damage_calculator" which i think is pretty cool

ive also been playing with arch linux for the past week or so, and pushed a dev build of the calculator to the AUR, so maybe i'll start using that as another way to distribute the calculator besides pypi and the executables, just in case anyone uses arch.

the entire program was recently recoded into a more object oriented format over the past few months. this is like the fifth major rewrite ive done of the calculator, and hopefully the second to last. i kind of want to drop tk in favor of a nicer gui builder, like qt or something. but that's something for the future.

It's just a thought. I've been thinking a lot about an AU where Akako helps Kaito steal gems. My Roman Empire is a Japanese AkaKai comic I once saw where Akako told Kaito "Don't be afraid of the cops, I'll protect you." I simply love. LMAO, SORRY I DIVERTED.

An announcement.

Hey I'm sorry to spring this on people since I made such a big deal about the analog glitch art streams, and coming back to streaming this week, starting Xenogears, and all of that, but…

Aside from my collabs with Emery and Cass, regular, scheduled streams are suspended until further notice, and things may be unusual for a while.

Since getting back from Colorado I've noticed I've been struggling really bad mentally. I have lots of things I've needed doing that haven't been getting done, both for stream, for friends, and for myself.

As I've already alluded to elsewhere, what this comes down to is I think I need to adjust my ADHD medication. Significantly. Unfortunately, this is a process that will take months to fully figure out.

I don't feel comfortable committing to a rigid streaming schedule during this period, combined with my other commitments, which will include my classwork starting in October, as well as adding all my six years of CSE coursework to my GitHub before my UCSD Google Account is revoked, since they no longer provide alumni accounts, doing Leetcode and CodeSignal exercises, applying for jobs for when I graduate from UCSD, et cetera, WHILE ALSO trying to find a new medication regimen that lets me even function on a day-to-day basis.

I WILL stream occasionally, but it'll happen when it happens. I'll make announcements ahead of time, but it will probably be somewhat erratic. Expect one stream a week, give or take.

I'm sorry for all of this. There's a light at the end of the tunnel, it's just gonna take some doing to get there.
