Will Always be (A Double Edged Sword)

SUM: The 65th Hunger Games’ holds all the aquatic land mines and turbulent team alliances one could ever hope for! District 11’s Cody Fett aims for the prize of survival but is taken to his knees by the searing venom of the Capital’s fangs. Just adjacent, District 10’s Obi-wan Kenobi, curates a smile for golden gowns and dull slacks alike while the Games starting cannon is craned into position. A dazzling, thrilling guillotine. Cody and Obi-wan protect and aid their families no matter the consequences, when the Capital plucks them from their familiar labors and tainted dollar dealings, they are faced with an entire new beast. Cody believes he’s spared his brothers from the worst fate imaginable but Emperor Palpatine has his claws in every corner of the district’s. Obi-Wan’s faith and willingness to cross inconsiderable lines is planted onto the cropping block as Cody becomes his biggest competitor and bitter partner in the Games. Cody’s made promises, his family needs him to be strong. He will not let the Capital win, not ever.

Masterpost- Balance in All Things

'Balance in All Things- A History of the Skywalker Dynasty' is a Star Wars/A Song of Ice and Fire crossover/fusion written in the style of an in-universe history book, like the ASOIAF book Fire and Blood. It takes place in a version of the Seven Kingdoms without the favorite Westerosi pastimes of sexism, racism, and homophobia. Ships include Anidala, Shmi/Qui-Gon, Codywan, HanLeia, modified SkyJade, Kylux, and JediStormPilot. Playlist is for the entire AU- send an ask if you want a full breakdown of what each song is for!

Summary- A Westerosi historian's complete writing on the last generations of the legendary Skywalker dynasty, following such notable rulers as Anakin the King Without Fear, Leia the Secondborn, Kylo the Starkiller, and Rey the Last Dragon.

Is there a server for the Codywan WIP Project?

Sort of! Jedi & Commander is a Codywan-centric server where we will have a WIP Project specific channel so everyone can chat about the event. But if you want to connect with a Codywan community, Jedi & Commander is the one associated with this event.

What kind of event is this?

This particular event is centered around Cody & Obi-Wan and encourages people to complete any unfinished Codywan work they might have hanging around on their cloud or harddrive. The goal is to reveal all posted creations on Halloween to give the fandom a bit of a guaranteed Treat.

Wait, what happened to CodyWan AU Fest?!

We’ll be back next year! This event is to encourage everyone who might have unfinished stories, or half-started stories, or stories in various states from the 3 (!!!) previous AU events to finish them!

What do you define as a WIP?

We define a WIP as any work in progress that has not been posted anywhere else. We have low minimum requirements for a WIP to enter the event and the only true requirement is that we hope you’ll be able to finish your project in the allotted time!

Do I have to sign up?

We are requesting that participants in the WIP Project sign up for the event. We want to be able to encourage all content creators along their journey and to present those who complete their works with completion certificates and banners for their Tumblrs. If you would like to participate in an unofficial capacity, we won’t stop you! You just will not be able to be included in the official AO3 Collection or receive the event bonuses.

I have to drop out.

That’s all right! Please just contact us via Tumblr (or via DIscord if you want to hunt us mods down) so we can remove you from the event. We wish you the best on your WIP journey but we understand that real life happens and support you for prioritizing yourself above a silly fic event. <3 

What content is allowed in the WIP Project?

All fanworks are allowed for the WIP Project, so long as: (1) it is Codywan; (2) it is a WIP prior to July 2023; (3) it is completed by the posting period in October. All ratings are allowed, but all content must be rated.

Can you define “Codywan”?

For this Fest we are defining “Codywan” as: (1) a romantic relationship between Commander Cody and Obi-Wan Kenobi; (2) a queer-platonic relationship between Commander Cody and Obi-Wan Kenobi; (3) a sexual relationship between Commander Cody and Obi-Wan Kenobi; (4) a familial relationship between Commander Cody and Obi-Wan Kenobi; (5) a “situationship”/relationship without labels between Commander Cody and Obi-Wan Kenobi – basically, GO NUTS! So long as the content focuses on the relationship (however you want to define it) of Cody and Obi-Wan, it’s good. 

Let no one tell you your version of a relationship is not valid!!

How long does my WIP have to be to enter the Project?

The bare minimum for a WIP to enter is as follows: 

Fanfic: At least 250 words

Fanart: At least a sketch, black&white

Moodboard: Minimum, three images

Gifsets/Icons: 2 gifs/4 icons

Poetry: A pair of haikus or 8 line minimum

Podfics: 5 minutes in length, with author permission or blanket permission

Fanmixes: at least 5 songs

Fanvids or Fanedits: at least 30 seconds

What’s the difference between posting and revealing?

Similarly to the Codywan AU Fest (which is taking a break this year), we’re asking creators to post their works to the AO3 collection in the last half of October so all creations can be revealed on October 31. That way everyone in the Codywan fandom will be able to have some nice Treats on Halloween!

Can I post outside of the Collection? / Can I post early? / Can I post late?

While we would prefer that everyone post to the Collection to be part of the Event, we understand if people would prefer not to post to the Collection. The Collection will be created when the final prompts go live, so if someone finishes early they can post their creation to the Collection and not have to worry about posting to AO3.

If you would like to post your creation to Tumblr or AO3 before or after October 31, you are welcome to do so. However, as the intention behind this Event is to have a bunch of WIP creations released on Halloween (trick or treat!), it would be hard to include your creation in the Event.

What happens if I don’t finish in time?

We’d still love to see your creation! All WIPs are welcome and valid, even if you don’t get to be part of the official Collection. If you sign up, you’ll still receive the encouragement of the mods and have your fic featured on the Tumblr during the spotlight time frame. We’d love everyone to finish, but we understand that sometimes that’s just not possible.

What tags should I use if I post to Tumblr?

Please use the “#codywanWIP2023” tag! (no spaces, tumblr is mean)

What are the important dates for 2023?

Event FAQs

What is a fandom bingo?

A bingo is a type of fandom challenge during which participants are given a 5x5 card where all but one square are filled with creative prompts and the last, middle square acts as a free space. A bingo encourages people to create new fanworks for a certain fandom, theme, or ship.

This particular event is focused on Commander Cody & Obi-Wan Kenobi and we’re running it as an open-ended event. What that means is that it doesn’t really have an end point. Instead, we will have three themes every few months and rotate the themes to keep things new and interesting.

How do I request a card?

Go here and fill out this handy form! We do have rotating themes, so the form will update when they change (and we’ll make a post on Tumblr). Once we’ve received the form, please give us a few days to generate your personalized bingo card and then email it out to you.

Can I request multiple bingo cards?

As this is an on-going event, you can absolutely request a second, third, fifth, or tenth card once you finish your previous card.

Clarification: You can only request ONE bingo card per Round until you get a bingo, not one bingo card per theme.

Do I have to fill out my entire card?

Of course not! Once you get one bingo you can go ahead and request a new card. However, if you do fill out your entire card (a “blackout”), you get the added perk of being able to help the mods choose a theme and some prompts for the next cycle. 

What if I don’t like my card?

We’ve tried to create each card with a variety of prompts that would appeal to a variety of writers and encourage people to write new things. To help you get a bingo, you are able to move the position of two prompts on your card, or swap out two prompts for two prompts of your choosing (so long as they are in line with the theme of your card).

Okay, so what counts as a fill?

Bingos should be fun, low-pressure events where you can get your creative on. Please keep in mind that these are the bare minimums for a fill and you are more than welcome to exceed these! 

Fanfic: At least 500 words

Fanart: At least a sketch, black&white

Moodboard: Minimum, three images

Gifsets/Icons: 2 gifs/4 icons

Poetry: A pair of haikus or 8 line minimum

What ratings are allowed?

Any rating is allowed, although you must rate your work. 

What are the requirements for filling a square?

Any new, unposted work that meets the fill minimums. If you want to dust off a WIP that’s been chilling in a folder on your computer, we’ll totally accept it. If you want to use a bingo square to add a chapter to a previously posted WIP, we’ll accept that too. Please notate on the chapter that it is for the Codywan Bingo Event, what theme your card is, and what square you are filling. If you are posting on Tumblr and posting an update, please tag our tumblr!

If you want to combine squares, please contact a mod. Square/prompt combinations will only be allowed on a case-by-case basis depending on word count, length of fanwork, or complexity of fanwork.

How do I post my work once I’ve completed a square?

A valid fill post will be tagged #codywanbingo and @codywanbingo. (So we can reblog you)

Can I use a work from another fandom event to fill a square?

So long as your work is a new, unposted work that meets the theme of your card, the square, and the other event, go for it!

Can I work with a co-creator? / Can I share a card?

Absolutely! If you’d like to sign up together, just notate it on the sign-up form and we’ll put both usernames on the bingo card. If you decide to work with someone after you receive the bingo card, you can request that we send you an adjusted card (no guarantees) or you can simply work off the one card and post your fills with both usernames.

Han was scared. No, he decided. Terrified would be more accurate. He couldn't believe only hours ago, Leia's water had broke. He soon to be a father. He'd tried to stay with her, but after Leia had nearly broken three of his fingers, he'd decided to let Luke do his job for him. Which was pathetic, he thought, massaging his hand. You're going to be a terrible father.

Now he was standing in the front lobby of the med center. The visitor's room, whatever they called it. He'd tried sitting down but he couldn't hold still. Would Leia be mad at him if he wasn't there? His mind went back to when she'd first told him they were pregnant. He'd been scared, but that night, Luke had found him. Said he'd somehow known before him, because of the "Force," or something. He'd talked him off the ledge of "I will literally be the worst father in the galaxy," and back down to "I'd better not screw up," which was a huge improvement.

He needed to be there for Leia. He needed to be there for Leia... and their currently being born child. Finally, he psyched himself into running down the hallway, disrupting several medical droids and assistants, and ran till he reached Leia's door. He knocked. Luke answered.

"Hey." He smiled. "Want to meet your kids?"

"Kids?"

"Yeah, there's twins."

Han's whole body froze. "Twins?"

What’s a Fest?

A fest is a fanwork challenge in which participants are invited to provide prompts and then choose prompts from a list compiled by the fest moderator. This particular Fest is centered around Commander Cody and Obi-Wan Kenobi and encourages people to submit prompts and create fanworks centered around Alternative Universes.

How does a prompt submission work?

There will be an initial prompt submission, lasting two weeks, where everyone can submit their favorite AUs. This will be done via a Google Form. You do not need a Google account to participate.

Similar to our 2022 AU Fest, we are asking creators to post their works to the Codywan AU Fest’s AO3 Collection from any time it’s created up until the last posting date (ideally), when all works will then be revealed. This is so all works will be shown at the same time and the fandom can enjoy a nice treat on the reveal date.

**If you’d like to make sure your work ends up posted on the first page of the pairing when the collection is revealed, please post your work with a “future” publish date!

Can I post outside of the Collection? / Can I post early? / Can I post late?

While we would prefer that everyone post to the Collection to be part of the Fest, we understand if people would prefer not to post to the Collection. The Collection will be created in March 2024, so if someone finishes early they can post their creation to the Collection and not have to worry about posting to AO3. An announcement will go out when the Collection has been created.

If you would like to live post your creation to Tumblr or AO3 before or after May 1, 2024, you are welcome to do so. However, as the intent is to reveal many AU fics all at the same time, it would be hard to include your creation in the Collection. This does not mean you can’t participate in the Fest, just that posting might be a little difficult.

What happens if I don’t finish in time?

We’d still love to see your creation! Feel free to tag us in your tumblr post if you post to tumblr and we’ll reblog you! And we’d still love to see you on AO3!

What tags should I use if I post to Tumblr?

Please use the “#codywan2024aufest” tag! (no spaces, tumblr is mean)

Open Prompt Submission: January 14-27, 2024

Prompt Voting: February 4-10, 2024

Prompt Elimination: February 13-19, 2024

Final Prompt Announcement: February 22, 2024 

Posting to AO3: April 21-30, 2024

Collection Reveal: May 1, 2024

This schedule ideally gives creators 8 weeks to create their fanworks and post them to the collection. Once posted, creators can sit back and wait for the reveal of goodies on May 1!
