Team work: -return fire and take cover -stop the bleed when it’s tactically sounds -stay in the fight ———————————————————————- Prepping your Gear: - have your medical gear on your persons and staged ready for deployment (that includes not having the time tab across the windlass catch🙄) - proper training is key! Get some! Thanks @policeposts ——————————————————————— Application of TQ: -High and tight; turn windlass until bleeding is controlled. If bleeding is not controlled then add an additional TQ. - officer was able to move his leg. If he wasn’t able to, opening up the TQ would be a faster option. It also will reduce the friction and snagging from cloths, different types of flooring, etc. - arterial blood is bright red because it’s oxygenated. An arterial bleed maybe pulsing and/or spitting. -when in doubt TQ OUT☝🏻 - this doesn’t look at an arterial bleed but officers played it safe. - if the injured can apply self aid then allow them too. If they need assistance then help when tactically sound. Stay in the fight. ——————————————————————- Types of TQ: - I prefer the CAT but I also carry a SOFT-T. This week we are hosting Child Safety workshops to our youth students in Brentwood. We are sitting with the kids and discussing current issues that are, unfortunately, a reality of life these days. . The expression SITUATIONAL AWARENESS is what comes to mind when the subject is self-defense, crime prevention and community safety. With that said, we strive to continue developing an increased sense of this important line of defense in all of our students, at all times, anywhere. . We are talking about gut feeling, strangers and ways a stranger can lure them, plans of action should they come across someone who’s trying to harm and/or kidnap them, alerting grown naps and 911 calls. . In the teens program we’re adding internet predators and luring strategies they may use, school shootings, and the importance of assertively taking action and alerting authority figures should they ever see or feel that something is wrong. . Still think carrying your TQ anywhere other than your duty belt is acceptable? Thanks @northamericanrescue and @policeposts 🎥 Training Points: 1. Know your cover!!!!! If you have it use it; if you don’t have to leave it then DON’T! 2. MEDICAL TRAINING/GEAR! A perfect example as to why you need to carry it ON your persons and KNOW how to use it. 3. Before handling medical issues; make sure the threat is no longer a threat. 4.
