i wish people knew how batshit insane the Maplestory comics are. they're like. comparable to Ken Penders era Sonic comics in my opinion. like,

-at some point (really early on actually) there was a whole thing about multiverses that got expanded into the SEQUEL comic. that was an educational comic that taught kids MATH. the math spinoff was all about a clone of the main character (who doesn't know he's a clone. actually NOBODY knows about the clone thing at all) from the original comic trying to get home while hopping around diff multiverses. and also using math bc math is source of power in the worlds he was travelling thru idk

-(in the math sequel comics) i think the main character got turned into a werewolf to save him from death (which sacrificed an already existing werewolf character). then he stopped being a werewolf so he wasn't in the active threat of becoming a wild dog at any time anymore (how plot convenient yaay) but kept the strength of being a werewolf so he could.... stay strong idk. there werewolf thing was still retained though, because at some point he got plopped into a SAO-esque simulation that wiped people's memories when they entered... but HE didn't lose his memories because of his werewolf genes. or something.

-also he gambled with an AI supercomputer and activated it's killswitch because it... threatened the world, i think. a dimensional portal opened up to a different world. i feel like the reason they keep making him hop around dimensional portals is so that they can keep introducing the new characters that get added to the game.

-anyways in the original Maplestory: Offline comics there was a fake god made in the image of it's own creator (who was NOT a god) but youthful and before an accident that burnt her face off, created from the DNA of a magical tree that is basically THE god in the entire universe. the fake god uhh.... i think she revived one of the deuteragonist, wiped his memories, and called him "the dark prince" and made him serve her.

-a different deuteragonist has a... what i can only call a shinigami eye that was hidden under an eyepatch (his official design has an eyepatch, but it's more for design reasons than actual lore reasons). he turns out to be a PRINCE from (noncanon) Maplestory Atlantis?? he was sent away from a very young age for... ok i don't remember why admittedly. he learns he is actually engaged with one of his traveling companions (neither of them knew until the prince reveal), but the problem is she has a different fiance from a different life that is completely and utterly obsessed with her and that becomes a problem for everyone.

-ANOTHER one of the deuteragonists (ok there are a LOT of deuteragonist in the mainline comic) is a quarter-elf. that isn't the weirdest thing about her, at some point she gets poisoned so that whenever she eats dirt she becomes a dark version of herself that is stronger than normal but also uncooperative and will only return to normal when she drinks water.... but uh, this only leads to a lot of spit jokes. i will not say more.

-i really don't feel like getting into Shumi. i REALLY don't wanna get into her lore.

-there is mpreg at some point

fun little discovery

there was a series called 'treasure island', running from 2012-2014 with 20 volumes total, by the same person (people?) behind the adventure comics, im pretty sure. mainly educational stuff/activities with a few comics from various media strewn around. the covers and content mainly feature maplestory characters (mostly phantom, fitting the title) but later on also began to include cookies

there were some chapters from adventure and science basics, but im not sure if they were reused or new

"Get out of my swamp." Shrek says nastily, before spinning around a couple of times and then hurling Neko like a shotput. Breaking the sound barrier upon launch, Neko is sent careening away at such dizzying speeds, body crumpled and lifeless as it goes barrelling through countless obstacles for miles upon miles, before finally landing in That One Family Guy Pose. You Know The One. Fin.
