Pet Diseases Mod
Pet Diseases Test Version 4 up on MTS: https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=673681
Tumblr media
[There really is a lot more to the mod than dead pets, but it turns out coughing is hard to screenshot.]
Changelog:
- Bunch of fixes and enhancements to contagion. - Enhanced Petstilence symptoms. Random emotional reactions now come with moodlets and thought bubbles. - Fixed middle stage Pestilence random hiss/growl to target pets as well as humans. - Fixed Petstilence death failing randomly upon moodlet completion. - Moodlets now have random duration and do not display their time remaining. You don't know how long your pet will be sick. - Middle stage of Petstilence includes drooling. Final stage brings fly swarms and hygiene cloud. - Improved cough animation for large dogs so that it shouldn't slide around. - Parameters for all the diseases are now tunable -- length of moodlet, time between symptoms, probably of contagion - Update to moodlet icons to make them easier to distinguish and less blurry (dang they're tiny). - Disease ghost is now the yellow Mermaid dehydration ghost. I wanted to use shark attack (dark purple) but didn't realize it had the underwater bubbles. My attempt failed to remove the visual effects. If I could do that, I'd use Pestilence Curse (dark green). There turn out to be precious few ghosts that don't have context-specific visual effects. Known issues: - Most text does not have STBLs and is hard-coded. Text that says "Localize" on it means it needs a STBL. I've never figured out the (presumed) easy way to update STBL text for all translations, so I make STBLs close to the end. - Final Petstilence stage symptom of random attacks is not executing - Second stage Petstilence excited symptom moodlet does not appear - Some animation conversions between cat and dog still need refinement - Dog coughing and cat wheezing have no sound - The wheezing symptom for Pneumonia is just dog pant. I intend to slow it down 3-4x.

THE SIMS 4 HORSE RANCH
These were ideas I had before the pack came out with just knowing we were getting horses, nectar making, and mini-goats and sheep and just thought of how much more they could've done.
Tabletop dancing -> broken arm, leg, drunken antics, ie consequences
Bulk -> sell to bars, shipping, packaging, (carton of eggs, wine, boxes of apples), (personally would like to see cat and dog food as a purchasable item, cans and bags and tupperware)
Scouts update - > fundraising, bake sales / cookie drive, and horse camp
Lasso -> toddler to elder, child+ competitions
billiards -> social activity for teen+, random outcome, betting, pool hall
motorcycles -> we have bikes, wouldn't this basically be the same animation without the moving feet.
Rodeos - > with zero pixel animal abuse - social event and competition (using mechanical bull riding) at a saloon lot type with saloon doors
glasswork, ironwork, stones -> gold or stones from river, mining, making horseshoes, glassblowing, bead-making
any indigenous gameplay?! Sage harvestable, burnable, craftable sage, weaving skill, dreamcatchers, totems, blankets, books/conversing with sim about culture - > beads, jewelry, knitting addons - > crafting table
horse plow -> attachable wheel barrow to mass harvest all
mischief and politics -> new protests, new policies, and the urban legend of cowtipping
petting zoo - > update to barn to free llama and cow, ability to lock bunnies in, employee a fox, [just adding snakes and lizards]
nectar making - > should've been in mws - winetasting, order bottle during meal, blends, nameable, snob interactions and/or moodlets about the notes, make box wine [low, get drunk quick quality],
stare down - > rude introduction
pianola - > upgradable to play on its own [even though not historically accurate] - > ability to play piano drunk
MY IDEAS AFTER THE PACK WAS RELEASED (and I've spent like two days in game, not bored just drawing out that single drop of gameplay) - this is mainly where the "not a modder" comes in as I have no idea how easy or difficult it would be to add these things.
First off, lock that dance behind a skill or something
A Wandering Cowboy Mod - a cowboy NPC shows up randomly at my doorstep, is he hurt, is he friendly, is he a burglar, is he here to start a quest???
^^^ same concept but Alien Crash landing
Horses that steers goats/cattle back.
Ability to lead horses
Horse betting / mini game (make my rich sims poor)
Obvi, wild horses
Ability to brush teeth and/or an actual horse bath
Horsegirl books, toys, interactions,
Holster gun match with chances of misfire, with either possibly dying, etc, (historic version of this too)
Gunslingers and Bounty Hunters
obvi, Unicorn things; could be cool if used to cure all sickness/alignments from other mods and/or resets their age and/or work like Father Winter.
Bank Heists
A fiddle or banjo.
Ability to craft all the furniture with woodworking table.
Falling off the horse -> consequences
Replace in-game harvestable grapes with debug grape vines
Dual riders, teach to ride for children, romantic kiss where one sim is on the horse and the other is standing below them, lift onto horse to kiss, thrown over the horse and taken, watching stars together while sitting on horses
Nothing to do with westerns but the rocking horse mod made me want a rocket ride coin machine mod
Add with more thoughts later.

Yes, yes. I know there’s already a science career, and I know “mad scientist” is a path there, but how fun would it be if mad scientist got a whole pack of their own?
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Mad science is a skill that any sim can pick up, regardless of occupation or humanity. Just place down any of the new work stations: the Mad Inventing Station, Mad Chemistry Set, or Mad Operating table!
- At the first selection, your only options are “Tinker At Station”, “Play With Chemicals”, and “Vivisect Self”. At low mad science levels, these options have a high chance of going awry, causing negative moodlets or even killing your sim if done too often.
- Any sim with any level of mad science other than zero has “Laugh Maniacally” as an action on themself. It doesn’t do anything. It’s just for fun.
- At the Mad Inventing Station, lots of items from Get To Work make a return. Mad scientists can make SimRays, Hover Lamps, Satellite Dishes, and Cloning Machines. In addition, they can make Ray Guns to knock sims out, Biginators and Shrinkinators to temporarily resize objects, as well as the high-level Doomsday Device, which will mysteriously depopulate your world by 25% to 100% depending on how you set it. (Sims will repopulate over time, but they’ll be new, randomized ones)
- Cold steel, head-to-toe restraints, and full bed rotation functionality. It’s hard to mistake the Mad Operating Table for anything else! Here, sims can perform a variety of surgical procedures. Vivisecting one’s self gives a moderate boost to a sim’s mad science skill, but it’s not easy to learn when high on laughing gas. Vivisecting another sim grants a massive boost to the Mad Science skill, but good luck getting anyone to agree! Even other mad scientists are hesitant to play guinea pig. But although the idea horrifies most sims, they’ll never die from a vivisection. At most, they’ll get a powerful uncomfortable moodlet that lasts a good while. Mad scientists can perform procedures to slim a sim, fatten them up, make them stronger, make them weaker, and at higher levels, they can semi-permanently increase or decrease the rate at which another sim’s needs decay. Mad Scientists can “Attempt to Resurrect” a dead sim, so long as the reaper hasn’t shown up yet. This has a very low chance of working at first, but at high levels, your sim will be shouting gibberish with the cadence of “IT’S ALIVE!” in no time at all!
- With the Mad Chemistry Set, serums make a return. Mad scientists can not only create serums, but they can also create them in different sizes (larger size=more doses), perform the “Ask to Volunteer to Test” action on other sims, and even sneak them into food. And like the inventing station, we get a few new ones! Mad Scientist Sims can create serums that influence mood, temporarily change a sim’s traits, and, if you have other packs installed, change a sim’s life state! Which brings us to our next section…
NEW LIFE STATE: THE JYDE
- It would be unacceptable to create a mad scientist and not make a reference to one of the most famous mad scientists of all time, so here comes a brand-new life state: the Jyde!
- A high-level mad scientist can create a “Mysterious Serum”. When taken, the sim will get a “Feeling Strange” moodlet, and within two hours, they will transform into a randomly-generated sim, complete with new clothes and a new name!
- A Jyde can typically transform between their original look and their alter-ego at a mirror. But be wary. They can get stuck in one form or the other for days to weeks on end.
- A Jyde retains only five things between forms: their traits, their skills, their needs, their aspirations, and their sexual orientation. Everything else, from clothing to gender to voice, can be edited separately in CAS.
- A Jyde’s alternate form will have all relationships reset. Friends and family will see them as a complete stranger! Whether your sim takes after the book and decides to use their new form to let bad deeds go unpunished, or if they use it to get off on the right foot after a souring a relationship is up to you.
- Perceptive sims may notice the similarity in the two forms’ traits…
- Jydes otherwise look and behave like any other sim. They have no special abilities, and unique CAS items are sparse, consisting only of optional slightly-inhuman eyes and visible veins.
- Jydes can be cured, though it takes an even higher Mad Science level.
INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER SIMS
- When two or more mad scientists get meet, they can “Laugh Maniacally Together”, “Enthuse About Mad Science”, and “Share Evil Plans”.
- Science doesn’t happen alone! At positive relationship levels, two mad scientists can “Declare Partner”, and at negative levels, they can “Declare Rival”.
- Partner sims can “Experiment Together”, honing their skills 50% faster and getting things done 100% faster. They can also compliment each other’s intelligence, compliment each other’s work, and gush about each other’s work. If they have any romantic compatibility, they can also “Mad WooHoo” on the Mad Operating Table.
- Rival sims can sabotage each other’s work, lowering the chance of successful outcomes, mock each other’s intelligence, argue about the right way to evil laugh, and fight over patent rights.
- Fellow mad scientists are typically much more enthusiastic to be experimented on than your typical sim. Partners will be even more so, while rivals will be less eager than even your average Joe.
- Most sims are scared of any mad scientist activity, but evil sims delight in watching, and can even inquire on evil subjects.
BUILD ITEMS
- “Big, Dramatic Switch” - What evil lair would be complete without these? All sims can pull it, and all sims will laugh maniacally after pulling it. Sims with very low or no skill in Mad Science will laugh normally afterwards, while sims with a high Mad Science skill will summon a crack of lightning regardless of the weather.
- “Tesla Coils” - C’mon. These are mandatory. Three sizes.
- “Evil Lair Flooring” and “Evil Lair Walls”
- “Menacing-Looking Machine” - Does it do anything evil? Nope! Does it look like it could? Absolutely.
CAS ITEMS
- Goggles, lab coats, surgical masks, the whole shebang.
- Various high-class Victorian clothes are available for both ladies and gents, in case you REALLY want to feel like you’re in a gothic horror novel.
Reblog with your own ideas!

Welcome back to the Delgato family! It’s two hours until school and work and it’s that time of managing everyone’s needs. Today will be a simple day of sending Supriya off to work so that’ll be simple. Did at least manage to get Evie’s motor aspiration progressed with learning to type finish up. She actually has max motor skill soooooo it’ll be a quick sharp thing for her to finish the aspiration once I actually focus on it.
And thus did everyone head off to school and work. Kids get first dibs though, since they come home first. Pierce has the friend of the world aspiration and needs to introduce himself to others. Hmmmmm. He actually has a good teen friend group going. One is a popular kid who aims to make a social group over in San Myshuno...which might have been why the family moved there initially in the first place but eh. Apartment was much too cramped. He’s friends with the uber-popular celebrity Orange Bailey-Moon! We also have Gemma Charm and Rashidah Watson. A good teen friend group. So I’m just going to introduce myself to whomever is around in Newcrest. No one’s actually spawned in yet so, lets work on getting his embarassed moodlet out of the way just a little.
Meanwhile, Evie’s aspiration has two stages left. High Score on the typing game and making it across the monkey bars three times! Thankfully, this neighborhood in Newcrest actually has some monkey bars within it. Still I’m gonna go with typing game first.
One writing in the journal and a self-assured moodlet popping in and Pierce is feeling pretty good! Just as Surpriya comes in from work in need of fun. Her auto-solve had her go to the computer, the taken one so I just had her say hello to Evie first instead before seeing what the auto-fun solving would give me a second time. Which was heading to a chess table. Fine by me! Pierce said hello to a random woman off the street, aka his boyfriend’s mother, aka vampire mom. Not that he could know that, especially since it’s daytime and she’s just walking around the street! He then retreated back to home for a nap.
Evie got her high score on typing so I had her change into her summer wear, for it’s summmertime and then I sent her across the street to play on the monkey bars. But we have an uncomfortable dog! Lazerwolf is sick! I’m just waiting for Surpriya’s fun need to fulfill up before taking him to the vet as well. Pets! They need care and love and attention!
But in that time, Evie got her aspiration fulfilled! She’s got one childhood aspiration left to do, and that’s to be a whiz kid! A science-y one! A NERD! Kid aspirations are pretty easy to do on long lifespan so it’s a simple matter of running through them all in time. And then I’m left with little to do. Alas.
And now I’m simply taking care of the human’s needs before the pet. It’s supper time and people gotta eat! And now Pierce wants to ask his mother for advice, a thing Parenthood added in! It allows parents to influence what morals, and with it additional traits, they add on to their kids and teens. Basically Pierce was asking for what to do when he’s enraged and our active Supriya advised working out, which is a way to manage emotions. I’ll keep that in mind that Supriya favored emotional control. I don’t think that’s a specific focus for her but you do get those bonus traits at the end.
But finally! It’s vet clinic time! The thing that’s been bugging me all day! It’s 10:30PM and we’re finally getting this boy treated for his illness. And with that, we’ll have to send everyone to bed. We run a tight ship here and it’s 10 hours before work and school we go to bed! Man I kinda wish I had High School years so I can alternate between Supriya’s work from home and Piece’s teen life a bit more. Anyway time for-
Neighborhood Watch!
Emmanuel Rios in the Rios household left his job as a [REDACTED] in the Covert Operator career.
Brindleton Bay: The Cormier household recently moved in.
Tayler O’Malley in the O’Malley household is now a Lawn Mower in the Manual Laborer career.

In Which Flat Broke Makes Many Discoveries
And I Have to Type This Out for the Second Time
Tumblr media
Today I played through Prankster Day and Love Day, but I'll focus on Love Day, since nothing really of note happened on Prankster Day (aside from Buck casually electrocuting a random Sim who showed up at the door).
Tumblr media
There were two big objectives for Love Day: securing the relationships of Flo and Flat, and Laurie and Summer. I know in my last post I (very briefly) wondering about pairing them together, but today I just jumped on the possibility. Rich keeps getting the moodlet of "feeling confined" by the relationship (he and Laurie aren't even engaged, he is completely overreacting), and Summer and Laurie get along well, so I just decided to try it.
Flat and Flo's date was the first one, the more secure and established of the relationship, so that was easy enough. I had them hold the date at Flo's house (Johnny Zest's old house, btw. He died some time ago) for two reasons: 1) I am incredibly tired, every time, of random Sims wedging themselves into conversations between my Sims while they are flirting, and then the random Sim gets all weird and awkward and then the whole conversation is made awkward. It wouldn't be awkward if you have just!! NOT!! DONE THAT!!! (Please tell me people don't randomly do that in real life I do not have the skeletal integrity for such information, I will simply collapse), and 2) I very recently discovered that I could just hold a date at the other Sim's house instead of going to a public space.
They had a nice date, it got the golden reward, and it was nice. Flat even managed to get the whim to ask another Sim to go steady, so I was able to have them be together of their own decision, rather than me just playing Barbies with them. I personally am pretty excited for them, and I hope that their relationship goes well. They honestly don't really have the time for their relationship go to badly, they're actually behind schedule, all things considered.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually like the third picture, right before they go into that weird pose of taking a selfie but their faces look weird and their necks are far too long and bendy, it makes them look kinda nervous. I like that because, y'know, they're teenagers, and this is the first time either have had a significant other, much less making it official to Flat's 70 followers (how does he manage to get 12 followers every post, that's insane).
Last thing about their date before I move onto Laurie and Summer's date, I,, (sigh), I,, hm. They "messed around". Nothing will come out of it, it's not like Flo would get gregnant or anything. If there is to be any teen pregurnt in this family, it'll be with Buck and Mary Lu, later down the line. I'm not even sure why I'm mentioning it, it's honestly really weird to point it out, but I guess it's my effort to kinda,,, push them, I guess, into the young adulthood that they'll be facing soon (like end of spring soon, they have less than two weeks of being a teenager left), and apparently this is something that people do. I wouldn't know, I don't think about stuff like that.
Anyway.
Before I brought Laurie to Summer and Liberty's house, I gave it a makeover. Just a little one, I didn't even change the flooring or wallpaper anywhere, but one to acknowledge and accommodate the fact that 1) there is a child living here, and 2) there is a dog living here. The bonus good news is that I made the house like, way brighter than it was before, so now I can actually see the house, holy crap.
I had Laurie bring Summer to the park in Willow Creek, where I don't think Laurie has ever been. She's truly an Oasis Springs native, that's for sure. They had a decent date, but to be honest I was almost unsure if anything was going to happen. (If nothing ended up happening, I would've just done the "Ask to be just friends" thing, which doesn't clear everything, but it works enough) But then Laurie confessed her feelings to Summer, and everything else fell into place. If I'm being honest, part of me was kinda nervous to have Laurie do that, since I've heard that interaction usually goes sour, but this time it worked great! So cool.
Without further adieu, here are the pictures from Laurie and Summer's date! (when ever i try to type "date" i type "fate" which honestly is only slightly ominous)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They also ended with a golden reward date, and when I took Summer home (to make sure she didn't get like, lost, or whatever. Idk), this happened autonomously
Tumblr media
You can't see it, but Liberty had a little thought bubble of lips, so either she was watching a rom-com, or she was stuck listening to her roommate and some lady that only talked her to earlier that morning making out behind her. Oh, and that girl is Shawna, the daughter of Summer and Malcolm Landgraab. (Spoilers, she ends up looking like Malcolm)
So yeah, I would say that Love Day was fairly successful. I'm now wondering how long it will take for Summer to show up at the Broke's door, then flirt with Laurie in front of Rich, or vice versa. Something could definitely happen, I wonder who Laurie will choose, when it comes down to it? (I haven't figured it out yet lmao)

NIFTY KNITTING - GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW 🧶
Gameplay was what I was most excited for with this pack. As an irl crafter + crocheter, this is the dream! ✨ (Still would like a hobby pack though, EA).
I ended up going a lot more in-depth than I thought I would, so obvious “spoilers” under the cut.
Tumblr media
I was provided with an early access copy of Nifty Knitting to review via the EA Game Changers program!
Tumblr media
Getting started with the knitting skill is as easy as plopping a bag or basket of yarn into your sim’s inventory and picking something to create! At level one, you’ve got the choice between nine different beanie variations for all ages.
I noticed my sims had a tendency to gravitate towards rocking chairs for knitting, unless directed to sit elsewhere. You can pick their knitting spot by clicking on any sittable surface and telling them to knit in the pie menu.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, the bag or basket has to be in your sim’s inventory to do any sort of knitting. In my opinion, this sort of defeats the purpose of having yarn sitting around the home. It’s honestly a shame, since my apartment is covered in random bags of yarn and half finished projects. It doesn’t stop you from placing them for decoration, but it does make for some useless spending for sims on a budget. And honestly, what was the point of voting on what this looked like if we’re never going to see it outside of inventory?
Additionally, each sim will need their own basket of yarn in their inventory if multiple members of the household want to knit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As your knitter progresses through the skill, more things will become available.
level one - beanies
level two - socks
level three - mailbox cozys, hanging plants
level four - rugs
level five - sweaters, the ‘teach to knit’ interaction
level six - poufs
level seven - decorations (cacti, turtle, octopus, penguin, llama)
level eight - toddler and baby onesies
level nine - sweaters with scarves
level ten - child toys (bear, grim reaper), mentoring sims in knitting
completed aspiration - yarny toy, yarny sculpture, ‘sacred knitting knowledge’ trait, bonus when teaching other sims, ability to dispel the sweater curse
I was honestly pretty disappointed that onesies require such a high skill level. I’ve really been looking forward to decking out all the babies in my 100 Baby Challenge in cute new clothes. Like I mentioned in my CAS review, I don’t foresee Day having the time to devote to knitting in the forseeable future, much less getting to level eight.
Thankfully, items are available to buy on Plopsy!
Tumblr media
According to the gurus, Plopsy can also be used on the computer - but I never even thought to try it. I was honestly surprised that it was fully functional on the phone, both for buying and selling items.
Buying something on Plopsy is just like anything else in the game - funds are immediately deducted and the item can be found in your inventory. When purchasing clothes, you’ll need to select the item once it arrives in your inventory and hit ‘add to wardrobe’ in order for it to appear in CAS.
I specifically tested purchasing baby onesies, and it seems like a mod I have prevents them from actually being applied to the baby. I have no idea which one, but I tested two onesies purchased from Plopsy in a CC free game and had no issues.
Failed item variations cannot be purchased on Plopsy - your sims will have to make those all on their own!
Tumblr media
Selling items on Plopsy is probably my favorite part of this pack, and has the potential to be a huge money maker! Most things your sim can craft with a quality value assigned to it will have the option to be listed online from the sim’s inventory. I was able to list paintings, woodworking sculptures, herbal brews, photographs, flower arrangements, potions, candles, and knitted items for sale!
One of my test sims knitted a sweater dress and the cost of yarn was deducted automatically from her household funds - §50. She listed the dress on Plopsy, and within 24 hours she had an offer of §747. 💰
After knitting and selling duplicates of several items, it definitely seems like the cost varies a bit depending on the buyer. But I was always able to sell at a profit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Believe it or not, there are dangers to knitting! This pack doesn’t come with a new death, but instead a curse. In my opinion, this is a super fun change and I’m so glad for something different.
There’s a chance that when giving a significant other a knitted sweater, both sims will become cursed!
Oh no, you’re cursed! They say couples with the Sweater Curse are destined to break up, so be very, very careful. Maybe don’t try anything romantic for awhile, because it will not go well. The threads of fate can be cruel.
So naturally, I cursed Bob and Eliza and then spammed the hell out of romantic interactions. They were all rejected. Their relationship plummeted in the span of a few sim hours. I didn’t stick around to see if they would organically break up on their own, but it wasn’t looking good.
It’s worth noting that I was never able to get this to work while they were married, but the second I demoted them to dating they got hit with this nasty seven day long moodlet. So if you plan on gifting sweaters to significant others, it’s definitely worth completing the aspiration.
Tumblr media
As fun as the failed knitting items and the forbidden sweater look in CAS, there are consequences to wearing them in game!
The moment a sim puts them on, they’ll receive a negative moodlet:
Itchy Knits (From Clothing Item) It’s as if a thousand tiny insects are nibbling the flesh!
I’m a little disappointed that these aren’t feasibly wearable in game, but I’m sure someone will fix it with custom content. It does add another unique repercussion to knitting, though!
Tumblr media
On a more wholesome note, the ‘teach to knit’ interaction is absolutely adorable. 🥰 Knox sat down with Bee, his daughter with my simself, and got her skill all the way to level four!
Children can knit on their own without being taught, just like adults. But I have very fond memories of my grandma teaching me to crochet as a kid, so this was an interaction I was SUPER excited to see in the game.
Tumblr media
I still feel like this is a small pack as far as physical content goes, but the gameplay is pretty fun. Plopsy is an amazing feature, and I definitely see myself using it often! Both with buying and selling, I really feel like it adds another layer to the game and gives more self employment opportunities for sims that don’t want a traditional career.
There’s a bit of gameplay I feel like I didn’t get the chance to fully explore yet, but I’m looking forward to integrating it all into my game.
My initial reaction to playing this pack was disappointment, but I honestly think my expectations were too high. This is a stuff pack, it’s bound to be small. After a few days to sit and play around with it, the gameplay specifically grew on me. I still have a lot of mixed feelings - some things I really like and some things I’m just not crazy about at all (cough cough, buy mode. why did everyone vote in crazy pastels? it matches NOTHING).
But with tempered expectations in mind, I would ultimately recommend this pack for the gameplay elements alone - especially to crafters. As always, different people enjoy different things. If this style of gameplay isn’t your cup of tea, pass it up or wait for a sale!

100 Baby Challenge Guide | Part I: Overview & Matriarch
Objective
The objective of the 100 Baby Challenge is to give birth to 100 children in as few generations as possible, and successfully raise them to Young Adulthood.
Rules
No cheats or mods, except for ‘bb.moveobjects on’ and ‘reset sim’.
No help from nannies, baby daddies, or free services. Daycare is allowed only when leaving your lot to woo another donor.
You can’t use the same donor twice.
You can’t change pre-existing lot traits or lot traits that you choose, so choose wisely.
A child must reach Young Adulthood to count toward the 100 -- therefore they can’t die or be taken away by social services.
Your matriarch can’t get married until she becomes an elder, and must move out of the household after she is married.
You can’t have a career that takes you out of the household. Example: rabbit-hole jobs.
Only Young Adults can be moved out of the household.
You can’t influence your child’s gender or traits. You must use the randomizer for traits. You can't eat carrots or strawberries. You must avoid Pop and alternative music.
You can only age up:
-> Babies on their actual birthday;
-> Toddlers once they reach level 3 in all skills, or on their birthday, and;
-> When Children and Teens get an A in school.
TIP: Toddlers who reach level 3 or higher in their skills will have a head start in their skills when they age up to children, so don’t just let them languish until their birthdays. (I will go into more detail about this in Part 3: Babies and Toddlers.)
Step 1: Create your Matriarch
According to the official challenge rules by Snarky Witch, your Matriarch can be male (as long as he can become pregnant) or female, but I’m going to use female pronouns for simplicity sake. You can make her look and sound however you want, but she must be a Young Adult.
Choose her traits and aspirations wisely!
1. Aspirations
I highly recommend either the ‘Freelance Botanist’ or ‘Painter Exraordinaire’ aspiration to begin with. I’ve done both, but I personally prefer the former rather than the latter, because you only have to tend to your plants once a day and are therefore not tied to an easel. The problems I encountered with painting are that it takes awhile to finish one painting, and my matriarch would have to start and stop every time she went into labor or had to do anything else (like eat or take care of kids). You can still paint until your plants start generating simoleons (§), but the lot I chose comes with blooming herbs, so I don’t have to wait.
TIP: However, I also recommend switching back and forth between aspirations, because meeting aspiration milestones will give you satisfaction points which you can spend on helpful reward traits (see the Reward Traits section below). In addition to the ‘Freelance Botanist’ (if you choose to garden at all) and the ‘Painter Extraordinaire’ aspirations, you’ll want to complete the following ones as well:
-> Fabulously Wealthy:
You’ll earn 5% interest on your household funds every week. More § for doing nothing? Yes, please!
-> Nerd Brain:
Instantly fix or upgrade any object. Super useful when stuff breaks, and trust me, they will. Completing knowledge based aspirations such as this one will also give you the Quick Learner bonus trait, which will help you learn skills faster.
-> Big Happy Family:
You’ll boost your children’s skill gains whenever you’re nearby, which means they’ll age up faster, and the faster you can age them out, the faster you can make more kids and finish the challenge.
-> Mansion Baron:
Get 10% back on any build mode purchases added to your household funds once a week. You’re going to be buying stuff to furnish your house, so you might as well get some of your § back, no?
-> Serial Romantic:
You might find this handy for the Alluring bonus trait, because it makes you more successful at romantic interactions.
You can still do career based aspirations like Master Chef without actually joining the career. You just won’t be able to complete them once you get to the career based goals. For Master Chef, you can go up to Milestone III. That’s 1,425 satisfaction points right there! Just be sure to switch to this aspiration before you cook anything, and you’ll easily blow through these goals and milestones (same with the other ones).
TIP: I’ll leave you with this last note: don’t bother with children’s aspirations, EXCEPT for your successor! Completing children’s aspirations just wastes time getting them out of the house, but completing these for your successor is beneficial because it means they can buy bonus traits sooner.
2a. Traits
Check out Carl’s Guide to The Sims 4 Traits if you need help narrowing down your traits, but I highly recommend the following:
-> Creative: your sim will become inspired more often, in turn increasing the quality and value of their paintings (higher quality = more §). Choose this one only if you plan on painting being your primary source of income. Otherwise choose something like Cheerful, which will make your sim happier in general, or any of the other traits instead. For instance, I’ve chosen ‘Loves Outdoors’ for my gardeners.
-> Romantic: your sims will be flirty more often, and will gain romantic relationships faster than other sims. This will help you woo and bed donors faster.
-> Family-Oriented: your sim will gain happiness from being around family, which will honestly be most of the time.
2b. Reward Traits
Reward traits can be bought with satisfaction points from the Rewards store. To get to the Rewards Store, press G and then click on the present.
IMPORTANT! Save your matriarch’s satisfaction points for traits; don’t waste them on potions. However, exchange your Young Adults’ satisfaction points for the ‘Moodlet Solver’ or the ‘Re-Traiting’ reward potion, and then transfer them to your matriarch’s inventory before you move the kid out of your household.
The Moodlet Solver potions will come in handy whenever your sims are mourning the death of someone they know, because it removes all negative moodlets. Don’t mistake this for the Happy potion, which is only a temporary fix.
The Re-Traiting potion, however, is best used on your next matriarch only. The rules of the challenge dictate that you have to randomize all of your children’s traits, so you will inevitably end up with a successor that has unfavorable traits. This potion will allow you to change their traits to more suitable ones. However, focus on stocking up on the Moodlet Solver potions first, and only purchase this one if and when you need it.
I’ve separated the Reward Traits I recommend into 3 categories: general, painters, and gardeners. They’re then ordered from most to least important in each of their categories. If you’re matriarch is a gardener or painter, I recommend buying Never Weary first, then skip to your specific categories, and finally work your way down the rest of the general list. However, anything after Great Kisser really isn’t necessary.
In general...
-> Never Weary (10,000): never have to sleep again! Trust me you’ll want to buy this first, because you’ll get more done if you’re not wasting 6+ hours sleeping.
-> Night Owl (1,000): gain skills 25% faster between 8PM and 3AM. You’re not sleeping any way, so this is great!
-> Frugal (2,000): reduces bills by 25%. Who doesn’t like saving money?
-> Beguiling (2,500): this is my favorite way to woo donors, because it makes it so easy.
-> Great Kisser (3,000): this one increases your Charisma skill every time you kiss, and charismatic sims are more successful at wooing donors.
-> Fertile (3,000): increases your chances of twins and triplets. I don’t recommend this early on. You definitely want to get comfortable with this challenge, and in a groove, before you start popping out multiples.
-> Forever Fresh (8,000): never need to shower or bathe again! Honestly, after the Toddler stage, showering is faster than bathing and isn’t really that much of an inconvenience.
-> Forever Full (10,000): never need to eat again. I like to make my Matriarch and Teens watch the cooking channel while they eat, because it raises their cooking skill, and satisfies their hunger and fun needs at the same time. Therefore this reward, like the previous one, is a very low priority.
For Painters...
-> Marketable (1,500): increases the value of paintings by 10% to triple the usual value. Choose this one, and the next one, if painting is your primary source of income. Otherwise, skip to Night Owl.
-> Creative Visionary (2,000): 20% higher chance of painting Masterpieces, which are worth A LOT of §.
For Gardeners...
-> Morning Sim (1,000): gain skills 25% faster between 5AM and 12PM. This one is great if gardening is your primary source of income, because your plants will need to be tended to and harvested at around 7AM.
For more information on reward traits, check out Carl’s guide here.
Step 2: Choose How to Make Money
I’m not going to spend much time on this, except to clarify which sources of income/careers are allowed. Only Careers that allow you to choose to ‘Work from Home’ are allowed as long as you always choose that option. I’ll try to list all of them, but I’ve only actually tried the Freelancer and Gardener careers with this challenge.
Work from home careers are as follows:
-> Freelancer (Basegame): including Digital Artist, Programmer, Writer, Fashion Photographer (Moschino Stuff), and Crafter Branch (Eco Lifestyle). I don’t recommend this career, because I found it difficult to manage a work-life balance.
-> Critic (City Living): Art or Food Critic.
-> Style Influencer (Basegame): Trendsetter or Stylist.
-> Gardener (Seasons): I prefer Botanist over Floral Designer, because I have no interest in creating flower arrangements. This is also the career I choose, because my Matriarch’s are usually gardeners.
-> Civil Designer (Eco-Lifestyle): Civil Planner or Green Technician.
-> Military (Strangerville): Covert Operator or Officer.
-> Social Media (City Living): Public Relations or Internet Personality.
Keep in mind that you DON’T have to do any of these careers, but make sure they compliment your Matriarch’s traits if you do. I’d even recommend avoiding these altogether if you’re starting this challenge for the first time.
I choose to pursue the Gardener career, because I get bored with just gardening on its own. This also gives me an additional source of income on top of my side hustles (i.e. gardening, selling collectables, etc..)
Other sources of income include:
-> Painting
-> Gardening
-> Fishing
-> Digging for collectables
-> Selling honey (beekeeping in Seasons)
There’s probably more, but I only have experience with Basegame and Seasons, because, up until recently, those were the only ones I owned.
If you have Seasons installed...
I recommend you get at least one Money Tree, but you don’t have to spend 5,000 points in the rewards store to get a seed. You can easily get a fully grown tree from the Gallery if you have the § , and don’t consider this cheating. Perfect trees are available, but I prefer to download the '3 x Money Fruit Tree’ from SimBuilder20 instead. As I’ve said before, I prefer to make § gardening, so starting with a lower level tree helps me build up my matriarch’s gardening skill and complete the ‘Freelance Botanist’ aspiration quicker.
TIP: You don’t have to keep spending points or simoleons to get more money trees.
Here’s how to get 5 more Money Trees for FREE: go into build mode and put your money tree into your household inventory when it bears fruit. When you do this, the fruit (i.e. seeds) will be separated from the tree. You can then take them out of the inventory and plant them (and your first tree) somewhere on your lot.
Conclusion
Please do a Google search for more information on anything mentioned in this guide. Carl’s Sims 4 guides are a great resource, but so is Youtube, etc..
If you have any additional tips regarding the topics covered in this post, please include them as a note on this thread. Otherwise, stay tuned for Part II: Your Lot wherein we will discuss things like: choosing which lot to purchase, applying lot traits, and saving money in build/buy mode.

Thank you EA for allowing me to participate in this event!
I was excited to find out that this year EA created a livestream event specifically for Game Changers who couldn’t make it to EA Play and I was NOT disappointed. The stream was super fun and filled with lots of information. Below you’ll find some notes I made, they should be mostly accurate I made sure to state if I wasn’t sure of something.
The Island of Sulani
3 neighborhoods: (I’m guessing the spelling on some of these, if they showed the name I missed it)
Ohanali Town - Cove area where people of the island gather for local activities and events, although it was stated that events can happen all over the island
Lani St Tas - A Lagoon with coral reefs and diving/snorkeling areas where you’ll find higher-end homes.
Mua Pel'Am - A Natural Island with a volcano and waterfalls where lots of conservationist stuff happens.
Lot Traits for Everyone (EP not required!)
Clothing Optional - Sims will show up and get naked! Sims will behave differently depending on sim and venue (ex. childish Sims won’t get naked)
Off the Grid - These lots will have no plumbing or power but there will also be NO monthly bills
Lot Traits for this Expansion Pack
Volcanic Activity - Apparently this is not actually associated with the volcano and you can make any lot volcanic! When an eruption happens the map will start shaking and lava bombs will rain down from above. They will leave giant flaming rocks that your Sim can go up to and touch. Touching them is a risk though because there’s a chance they could burst into flames and die. Definitely not the smartest idea. You can also let those rocks cool completely and either convert them to a decorative object (because they will disappear when the next eruption happens) or you can crack them open and get random minerals. You may also get cracks in the ground where steam vents open up on the lot, and there are 2 types of eruptions - a small and large one.
New Collectibles
Fish - There are at least a dozen new fish.
Harvestable - When looking at the Pit BBQ I saw that Pineapple was listed as an ingredient.
New endangered species - This was mentioned when they were talking about all the new fish so I’m thinking maybe it’s some type of collectible or something.
New venue
Beach Lot - This wasn’t talked about in-depth but I’m sure it will attract sims to lounge on the beach, sunbathe, and swim.
Sim Aspiration
Beach Life  - Once completed these sims will be super easy-going and never get stressed
Sim Traits
Child of the Island
Child of the Ocean
These weren’t gone over in-depth but I’m assuming Child of the Island aligns with some of the aspects of Island Living (events and stuff) and Child of the Ocean aligning with some of the aspects of mermaids (friendly with sea life).
Jobs
Careers (all worlds)
Conservationist is the only one mentioned. You can be a conservationist in any world, but some of the tasks for this career are located on the island. If you are a conservationist but you don’t live on the island the effects of your work will still affect the island over time and you’ll still be able to visit and see your hard work pay off.
At highest levels of Conservationist you will find blooms of bioluminescent algae and turtles in the ocean
Odd-Jobs (all worlds)
Didn’t elaborate but said these are new to the game
Part-Time Careers (all worlds)
Diver, Fisherman, Lifeguard
There are morning and afternoon shifts. Your Sim can hold 2 different part-time jobs. For example, your Sim be a Diver for the morning shift, then be a Lifeguard for the afternoon shift.
Teen Only Part-time Careers have been updated for adults!!!
Events (Festivals?)
Events will happen all over the island, there will be balloons in the area where they pop up.
There is an event every day of the week in different parts of Sulani.
Some examples they mentioned were a Fishing Tournament, a Potluck, and a Beach Camp-Out
Swimming & Water
Can wade in the water
Swimming is now linked to fitness skill
At higher fitness skill get new type of swimming stroke and swim faster with less energy
Can jump from stilted houses directly into the water
Right now this only available in Sulani
Sunbathe
You can sunbathe from a beach towel, lounge chair, or float lounger
For natural skin-tones only
You can either get a tan or get burned, depending on how long you stay out
Can’t sunbathe unless it’s sunny
The tan/burn pattern on a sim will be in the pattern of whatever clothes they were wearing!
You can prank others who are sunbathing and it will cause the Sim to get crazy tan/burn lines. There are multiple types of tan/burn lines; one was stripes and another we saw had handprints in it!
New Objects!
Beach Towels - can carry in inventory
Lounge Chairs - there will be one version of this that comes free for everyone upon release and it can be carried in sims inventory
Aqua Jet - Can use as a transportation vehicle to get to other places and can be stored in inventory. Can do tricks on, you get better tricks by having a higher athletic skill.
Pit BBQ - A crafting station to cook Sulani culture food. You start the food and a timer will pop up letting you know when it’s done. There is also an option to hang around the pit with friends to socialize.
Fish Trap - It seemed like this was something you could set up and come back for later like the Pit BBQ which would make sense if it was a trap.
Swings
Kiosk - There’s a new kiosk in the world that allows you to buy beach supplies like towels and stuff.
Vendor Stalls
Wedding Arch - There’s a very large and pretty tropical looking wedding arch in the community area in Ohanali Town.
Island Music Wall Speaker
Stilted Foundations
Boats
Can use as a transportation vehicle to get to other places.
Can store in inventory.
You can fix all motives on a boat so you never have to travel back to land if you don’t want to. The sim in the stream hopped on the boat and took a little nap :)
Can fish from ANYWHERE while you’re on a boat, you don’t need to find a fishing sign!
Ocean Buoys
These will spawn a couple of times a day and spawn either a Snorkeling or Dive buoy
They will also attract a school of fish and when it does you can attract Dolphins!
Snorkeling - didn’t talk about, just mentioned
Diving
It sounded like this may be a skill where some of these options are unlocked, but I’m not 100%
You can get an underwater camera to take pictures of the sea life, then put it on your wall at home.
Spearfishing to catch freshest fish
Find treasure
Mentioned another special feature with this but didn’t elaborate
Dolphins
Can make friends with them, feed them with fish from your inventory, ask them to do tricks, dance, or have them fetch treasures
There are also mischievous interactions with dolphins
Sounded like all these interactions are based on your relationship with the dolphin
Swimming Reactions
Gives a sim moodlets while swimming in water. A postive example was ‘Gorgeous Visuals’ from viewing stuff underwater and a negative one was from a shark that showed up!
Sharks only show up in deeper waters, simguru said you might not want to stick around after seeing one I wonder is there death by shark?
Pools were mentioned when they were talking about this so I wonder is some of these are available from swimming in pools
Mermaids
Can create a mermaid in CAS
Lots of tail and color variations along with some new eyes
Have legs on land and fins in water
Can swim really fast, almost as fast as Aqua Jets
Have a hydration need instead of hygiene and can fulfill it with swimming in the ocean, taking a bath or shower, drinking a glass of water, etc.
If they get too dry they will get sick
When they take a bath they will have their tail and it’s seriously the most awesome animation ever!
They have special powers - they can sing to do good or bad things to other sims. One example was pulling a sim underwater which would tank their motives and another was a lullaby that made another sim inspired.
Good & Evil traits will limit which powers they can use; if a sim doesn’t have either of those traits they have access to all of them

On today’s episode of thngvbsimming
My file for the 100 baby challenge got lost somehow 🙄. So I had to start over. Standard play blah blah blah.
Today I got bored of making babies and decided to play out one of the adult offspring character’s aspiration. Let me give you the lowdown on her stats. Melina Preggers (terrible, I know) was randomly given the serial romantic aspiration and her random traits are good, cheerful, and noncommittal. Not necessarily bad traits for a serial romantic. Obviously she gets the alluring trait from being a serial romantic. She was also a happy toddler and is physically gifted.
So, we start out needing a job after moving into the desert in Oasis Springs. I decided that I wanted her to do the social media track since I hadn’t played it before. Simple enough. Get followers, have good charisma, be funny, post to social media, got it 👍🏻.
So I decide to start diving into this whole serial romantic aspiration right off the bat. Two dates and get a boyfriend. Sounds easy enough. She hits on the bartender at a bar in the city because she was there for work (I kept her home on the first day to gain followers). She flirts it up with this guy up until her MOTHER shows up and starts her own flirtation!
Taylor... (the 100 baby mom) you have all the other men at the bar to flirt with and get pregnant... buzz off... needless to say, our good girl Melina is able to catch this fine specimen and flirts her way into a date.
Date one goes really well at the Rattle Snake Bar. So well in fact she got a gold medal and that special VIP bucket that puts off romantic vibes for a flirty moodlet. Sweet, this will come in handy. Oh and during the date the bar converts to Ghost Night and is packed with ghosts in minutes. Naturally, my sim is terrified of ghosts, but not so much to ruin her date. Good one, Melina!
Date two goes about the same way, minus the ghosts in another bar across town. Gold medal, more buckets. Now that the aspiration was complete we move on to phase two, first kiss three people and a lvl 4 charisma. She talks for a living and won’t shut up. Her charisma was at lvl 5 at the time so that was settled.
So now comes the tricky part. Having to find nice people willing to kiss this poor girl who is basically aromatic. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. She’s in a committed relationship though so now she’s gonna break up with him right...?
*sigh* this poor girl. I’m a terrible simmer. So I decide that I’m only pursuing her far enough to kiss the boys and walk away and she’ll keep the boyfriend. Meet the challenge requirements and move on. So we find two other strapping young men to come over and have a nice chat and a quick smooch. Simple, easy, done. All the while she’s gaining a huge following on social media and becomes a one star celebrity. She’s living the good life right?!
So as she finishes with guy #3 the third phase is charisma lvl 6, have a strong romantic relationship with three sims at the same time 🤦🏻‍♂️😑, and kiss 10 different sims. God damnit. Even worse! She decides at that point to gain her “personality quirk” for being famous. And what does she get?! No touching...
NO TOUCHING?! Seriously?! Fml...
For those of you not familiar, no touching basically means what it says. Unless she’s in a committed relationship with these men/women or the sim is a part of her family, she gets tense and uncomfortable with touching...
This is a good time to recap: she’s a good, cheerful, commitment phobe with an alluring trait, who wants to be a serial romantic which involves kissing MANY sims and having deep relationships with at least three sims at the same time and looking forward to phase four she must also have 8 different relationships and gold status on three more dates...
So to get her committments to the three men quickly I decide to just sleep with them. I also failed to mention she has yet to woohoo with her real boyfriend when she woohoos these other sims... In my defense she already has a rather high romantic relationship with him without it... I know, moving on!
This was a decision that was made just prior to her gaining said quirk in her personality... so now every time she has to even touch another sim she gets tense. And to be a serial romantic on top of that... I feel like I need to get her more aspiration points to get rid of the quirk.
You can’t make this stuff up, folks. It’s always the weird stuff I get when I play the Sims. No two ways about it!
So she’s got 7 more sims to kiss, at least 5 more relationships to make, when I finally decide to bring over the other two and snag em as boyfriends, so I don’t feel guilty with the woohoo to keep the romantic relationship bar up. And at least 3 more dates...
Pray for her. She needs all the help she can get. Thank you, 100 Baby Challenge. Without you this adventure wouldn’t be half as messed up as it is...

I didn’t cancel their old wishes because I hoped I could make them be together. She rolled a wish to skinny dip before she broke up with him. And she rolls that steal candy wish everyday hahaha. And Kirkor rolled a wish to be friends with Calla after they broke up and before they got a fight, I think.

Game review: The Sims 4 moves in on PS4 and Xbox One
The Sims 4 (PS4) – no laughing matter
The long-awaited console versions of EA’s life sim look surprising close to the original, but how do they play?
It’s difficult to feel sad for a giant, faceless corporation like EA. But their Christmas line-up has been such a disaster that at the very least you have to feel sorry for those who were not responsible for the worst decisions, and yet will inevitably be affected by the various calamities.
Star Wars: Battlefront II’s rejection could well end up as a turning point for the generation, while Need For Speed Payback’s failure is bound to have grave consequences for the franchise. It’s harder to say what will happen as a result of The Sims 4, because it didn’t do that bad in the sales charts. But that’s a fact it should feel very lucky about…
EA seems to go through phases when it comes to bringing The Sims to consoles. It’s produced multiple console exclusive spin-offs in the past, but it’s also frequently left the franchise as a PC-only title for several years at a time. That’s been the situation for the last three years, and for whatever reason it’s only now that The Sims 4 has been brought to consoles.
The frustrating thing is that in many ways this is an impressive port, having been carried out by Blind Squirrel Games – the same studios behind the various console versions of XCOM. The game looks surprisingly indistinguishable from the PC original, and has almost all of its features intact. But that’s where one of the biggest problems lay, because nobody thought to change the interface or controls so that they actually work on a console.
The traditional way to describe The Sims is as a virtual dollhouse, which is perfectly reasonable as that’s exactly what it was always designed to be. Traditionally there is no specific goal, and although there have always been some simple mission style scenarios most people play it like a mix between Animal Crossing and Lego – where you build your dream home and populate it with computer-controlled characters that, depending on your mood, you either nurture or purposefully irritate.
In that sense The Sims 4 is the same as ever, although the original PC version was purposefully more similar to The Sims 2 rather than the online-obsessed The Sims 3. Even now that seems like a surprising decision, but it’s one we’ve always supported as we never liked the open world approach of the third game. The Sims fan community was divided on the issue though, only coming together to criticise the game for stripping out so many features that had previously seemed to be a standard part of the game.
That’s a problem the console version manages to neatly sidestep, because it contains all the updates so far released. Which means that things like toddlers and swimming pools are in the game from the start. The only thing that’s missing at all is mods and the ability to share sims online.
This is in addition to the sequel’s major new features, such as the ability of sims to multitask and the ‘moodlet’ system. The latter allows their moods to carry over to whatever their current task is (so they can garden angrily, for example) and opens up specific dialogue and action choices depending on the how they feel. This stops the game feeling like you’re nannying a small child and more like you’re overseeing real, artificially intelligent people. Unless you actually are nannying a small child, in which case… well, you get the idea.
The Sims 4 (PS4) – building this is not as easy as it looks
The Sims 4 was never a great departure for the series, not even from the third game, but with the problem of missing content now resolved this should have been the definitive console version of the concept. And it is, right up until the point where you pick up the controller. The PC version is, of course, mouse controlled, but rather than work out some sleek XCOM-esque control system The Sims 4 on consoles just has you moving a cursor around with the left stick.
It’s horribly over-sensitive and a nightmare to use even if it didn’t expect you to be clicking on fiddly little icons that were clearly never designed to be used on a console. Build mode is particularly awful, and creating a nice little two-up two-down for your sims takes an eternity – and more swearing and cursing than should ever be associated with a 12-rated game.
More
The controls aren’t the only problem though, as the game also has a serious problem with bugs and glitches. Menus and info bars of all types regularly end up stuck to the screen, with the ability to save a worryingly difficult thing to guarantee. This is all in addition to lots of random graphical and audio bugs, and very long load times.
The Sims 4 on consoles is a mess, but it’s more frustrating simply because of how much it does get right. The bugs are presumably a result of being rushed for Christmas but we don’t know how anyone could’ve thought the control scheme made sense. But it doesn’t, and although this avoids the main problem with the PC original it lands face first in others of its own making.
The Sims 4
In Short: It’s got toddlers, swimming pools, and all the recent updates, but what this otherwise promising console port lacks is a sensible control scheme.
Pros: Multitasking, moodlets, and the revamped career systems are all great. In terms of features and content this is far more complete than the original PC version ever was.
Cons: The control system is absolutely horrible and makes the game a complete chore to play. Lots of bugs and glitches in almost every area.
