Starting season 7 of ER rewatch with dread in my heart.

This is actually great timing though because even though [Redacted] College has screwed me over royally, its fuckery has put me in a position to write one of my final college papers ever on Kerry Weaver's seasons 2-8 arc as a tragic backstory arc or Kerry overall as a genre atypical tragic figure.

Still.

I just want to protect her from the horrors. She needs a therapist and a friend and her mentor healthy again to tell her she's amazing and if anything her newly discovered queerness only enhances that. She needs literally one (1) person in her support system. She just needs someone to tell her she's going to be okay and that the one thing she has in her life (her job) is safe. But the whole basis of her tragic-ness is that the writers sabotage her every attempt to not be lonely. So...

I just woke up from a dream where i was so certain i had just come to a groundbreaking realization about bloodborne and now that i'm awake it was really silly but i think this part of it still holds true so I made the exact image i was making in that dream. Andrei's eyes open, blinking away the haze of sleep as he turns towards the door. The length of the flickering candle on the wall telling him it's nearly morning, but not quite. It's not a nightmare that had woken him, so what could—

Crack.

All thoughts of sleep immediately flees him as his gaze whips to the basket sitting on the bedside table, at the egg laying atop the furs lining the basket.

The egg that now has a sizeable crack lining its width, almost like a split grin.

As Andrei watches, there is another soft crack, the grin widening a sliver as the occupant of the egg moves within the shell. He sinks to the floor by the bed, eyes level with the basket, and stays in that position, observing the process.

It takes longer than he expects, the slight movement every few seconds punctuated by stretches of silence in between. Fingers hover over the egg hesitantly, before withdrawing. All birds must hatch by their own power, isn't that right?

After an achingly long time, it finally tumbles out of the shell altogether in one motion, a tiny, bright pink little thing with a sparse covering of yellow feathers and pieces of broken eggshell stuck to its body. In the candlelight, he could just make out a pair of wings, a beak, a pair of eyes, tightly shut.

"...Cranberry," Andrei breathes, the name suddenly all too fitting for the newborn.

Then, a high-pitched squeal from the hatchling sends him immediately to his feet, and Andrei, basket in hand, is out of the door and heading towards the tunnel that leads out of the Abyss before any of the others in the dormitory could wake. The thought that he now had, not an egg, but a real, live, very small and vulnerable bird on his hands just now dawning in his mind.

He needs to go find Naesala immediately.

Congratulations! The egg has hatched!

Wait so whats the difference between paraphilias and paraphilic disorders?

Paraphiliac disorders cause stress, anxiety and depression or in my experience, self harm and overall causes mentally(or physically) unhealthily situations. While non-disordered paraphilias do not.

(I do apologize if this is poor wording as I am writing this late at night and is half asleep. I also just suck at explaining things.)

I like to think the echidnas are a primarily sound based sort of civilization, if not traditionally, then particularly for the dispersal 'hunting' groups that Knuckles would have grown up in outside of the main civilization that had already suffered a large casualty to the tribe's population from misusing the emerald.

Since their prime goal is hunting down the owls to find out the fate of the emerald and retrieve its power, it would make sense that they don't really have need for sentiments beyond calls to action which can all be handled with short, direct vocalizations, this being standard in hunting parties whilst trying to communicate without startling their prey and allowing members of the party to coordinate their actions without drawing attention to themselves. These vocalizations tend to be a series of clicks, yips, honks, guttural vibrations, and even cooing (as actual echidnas make a variety of these noises).

Idea mainly stems from how Knuckles and his way of communicating is described in the movie as being brunt and to the point. 'He is a warrior from his tribe and English is not their first language. He doesn't have a sense of humor in the same way Sonic does. He's very dry and matter-of-fact, and he uses English just to get his point across and move on. He hasn't got time for niceties.'

I have so many Simon thoughts and I can’t believe the one to lick them all off was this: but would he draw the line at pork?

Just saw this ask now so apologies if it's been sitting in my inbox for a while!

Quick mention here that I'm not Muslim myself and most of my (limited) knowledge comes from talking with friends irl and the internet

but i believe Simon wouldn't eat pork. I don't think it's something he's ever really tried, especially growing up and living in Dearborn, which has one of the highest Muslim populations in the US, there wouldn't be a super high presence of it (I'm assuming) or social pressures surrounding eating it from his peers, who im assuming are also predominantly Muslim from what we know of his friendships precanon.

To be honest, I think the religiously prohibited substance he'd be most inclined to/likely to have consumed at some point to be alcohol. I mean when we meet Simon, he's fallen on hard times, like he's lost his job and turned to stealing cars and feels like he's let down his family and community, especially at least after the events that follow with him getting the ring the way he did. I'm not saying here that I think he did drink before we meet him in canon, but I think it's more likely to have happened than him eating pork, especially with the social pressures and societal depiction of alcohol the way they are.

Simon and his relationship with religion is something very interesting to me (that I admittedly know very little about) as there definitely seems to be a contradiction in some of his actions, with Simon quoting the Quran at Guy and talking about how much his religion means to him one page, and then of course having a tattoo that also means a lot to him (but is banned by his religion) at the same time. I think this more complex relationship with religion is something very human about Simon as a character, as people and their relationships with religion are oftentimes complicated and not cut and dry. It does make it difficult for his fans though as theres a lot we dont know, as Simon's relationship with religion is one I think could really use more exploration on page, especially in regard to this contradiction and his relationship with the rules of Islam as a whole.

I love how youtubers will spend 72 hours researching a topic on the internet and contacting experts and conducting interviews and learning about entire fields of knowledge and recording a video and never, at any point in that process, consider that they can spend 30 seconds to find out how a difficult-to-pronounce word is pronounced, or to check whether something is a typo or actually just a word they've never read before.

i think it’s interesting how i’ve felt a pull towards judaism since i was in elementary school like. i know now that ‘messianic jews’ aren’t considered truly jewish but when i was like 8 (and still believed in jesus) and i found out about the concept, i was over the moon bc to my younger self, “i could believe in jesus and go to heaven and be jewish at the same time!!” which is obviously a skewed belief in . many ways BUT the point is i've been considering conversion for a while and idk it kinda seems like the right thing for me. definitely not until i move out tho

current frame of mind is i think of everything in stock market terms now. i don’t know jack shit about economics i dont invest in anything but i will be talking about how my stocks are doing all the fucking time. not stocks i own but stocks that are me, the value of the stocks of me the company. which is REALLY funny considering my url here. it’s not just me too if something or someone does well at anything i go OHHHHH X STOCKS ARE SKYROCKETING and if something goes poorly it’s like OHHHHH THE STOCKS ARE PLUMMETING FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY. this is the new it’s jover and we’re so back. this isn’t something that’s gonna catch on though it’ll probably just be this micro joke amongst my friends for a while lol
