[From Wall Street Journal :: Peggy Noonan]
Peggy Noonan: As to soft Trump supporters, the charges do nothing to keep them in his camp. They reinforce the arguments of former Trump Republicans now backing other candidates: He was our guy but in the end he’s all danger and loss. What were Mr. Trump’s motives? Why would he refuse to give the documents back, move them around Mar-a-Lago, mislead his own lawyers about their status and content?
Because everything’s his. He is by nature covetous. “My papers” he called them. Because of vanity: Look at this handwritten letter. Kim Jong Un loves Trump. See who I was? Look at this invasion plan. Because he wished to have, at hand, cherry-picked documentation he could deploy to undercut assertions by those who worked with him that he ordered them to do wild and reckless things.
My fear is that Mar-a-Lago is a nest of spies. Membership in the private club isn’t fully or deeply vetted; anyone can join who has the money (Mr. Trump reportedly charges a $200,000 initiation fee). A spy—not a good one, just your basic idiot spy—would know of the documents scattered throughout the property, and of many other things. All our international friends and foes would know.
Strange things happen in Mar-a-Lago. In 2019 a Chinese woman carrying four cellphones, a hard drive and a thumb drive infected with malware breezed past security and entered without authorization. She was arrested and jailed for eight months. Another Chinese woman was arrested soon after; a jury acquitted her of trespassing but convicted her of resisting arrest. In 2021 a “Ukrainian fake heiress and alleged charity scammer” gained access, according to the Guardian.
Who else has? Mar-a-Lago isn’t secure. Those documents didn’t belong there. It is a danger to our country that they were. This story will do Mr. Trump no good with his supporters. It will hurt him—maybe not a lot but some, maybe not soon but in time. I mean the quiet Trump supporters, not big mouths and people making money on the game, but honest people.

why are con artists on your dni list?
Well I'm glad you asked. You see there can be scammers who can easily manipulate, lie and your you off your money. And I know these con people can trick you with useless and false advertised products. I was scared that there are con artists on the Internet too so that's why I added it. I can't explain more than that.

i don't know if it's me "having a type" but i've noticed. i have a habit. of making conmen characters.
i had a fun lil idea and was brainstorming for this guy's past and abilities and just immediately went to conman before going like wait a sec. literally the last guy i made was a scammer. i made another one a lil while ago too. they have nothing to do with each other they have nothing in common how does this keep happening--

Was Ea-Nasir really that bad copper merchant, or maybe Nanni was just the oldest recorded Karen?
I'm willing to give Nanni the benefit of the doubt. It's not like scammers and conmen are something new.

So I received a scam call today, recorded message stating my power would be turned off in 30 minutes for failure to pay the bill. I knew it was bullshit, hung up and called my power company. They confirmed my account was in good standing.
Couple of hours later the scammer called back, I did something I don't recommend, but they pissed me off. I stayed on the line and waited for a human to answer. I asked for the name of the power company he was calling from, he gave some bullshit name.
I asked several questions and he got pissed with me, I accused him of running a scam, he really got pissed. After some choice words exchanged between us, I may have ended by suggesting he go back to performing sexual acts with his mother.
Again, I don't encourage engaging with conmen but I did enjoy myself. 🤷‍♀️

listening to Renegade by Styx and suddenly got this idea of a conmen au where Johnny and Daniel are scammers and use their well-known "rivalry" and "animosity" as a distraction tactic and Ali does the heavy lifting cuz let's be honest she's the brains of the operation. Johnny might flash his guns too as a distraction LMFAO. I vaguely feel like there already is a conmen au for kk? So if I'm stealing someone's idea WHOOPS.
But I'm Thinking and im sure they've got a bigger operation that extends to the cobras. I feel like Bobby and Ali are in it for political reasons, wealth redistribution perhaps. Maybe Daniel is in it for this reason too. The others though...LOL
This is just my imaginative word vomit right now but I am Thinking I am Thinking...i feel like there is an au like this??? Specifically 70s casino au?? If anyone has that fic if it exists LINK PLEASE 😫

I hate the Internet so much.
People are suffering, I know people are suffering, I know they need help, but whenever someone seems it I have no choice but to turn them away out of fear it's a lie.
What is anyone on the Internet? Not a person. Not in any way a person. Just a profile that could always not be yours, a name hiding your name, posts that could carry a very convincing lie---and that's what it all comes down to, lies. So much is a lie, how I tell you aren't also? I've been tricked before, hell I've been blackmailed before, but this is all so convincing and I'm so caring maybe I should just do it, but what if it's all just an incredibly convincing deception??
Conmen are clever, scammers are clever, people who steal your information are clever.
I can't risk it, I can't risk what could happen if the story was really a lie, I can't risk starting things over, or worse, never making back what I lost.
But now that's all I'll be thinking about, what if I was wrong and it was true?
I hate the Internet.

Even if you CAN get into them by yourself already, which I somewhat doubt... it's very hard to get people to take you seriously if you do it by yourself when it comes to ruins. There's so many scammers, thieves, and conmen in that sort of thing. Being able to say and prove you're a part of the history, archeology, or similar community as an active member or student will disperse the vast majority of those issues.
And let's be honest here. At some point you're going to find something that you need help from another person. It could just be too large of a task, need specialized skills, or might literally have something that refuses to interact with you but would interact with someone else. Socializing is hard and scary, but the benefits outweigh the costs. Think of it like studying for one of your tests since you said you had a 4.0
Well yeah but I don't really want to be in the middle of things, you know-?
Ugh, this is difficult- I'll come back to this train of thought later...

Hey Ari! After reading and responding to your post about a con artist's attempt to steal from you by posing as someone interested in your commissions, I had a thought that Cato, both in main story and as Ace of Clubs sees conmen as one of the worst types of crooks and criminals. He values loyalty and trust strongly in relationships. Scammers can be powerful over the control and influence they have on their marks. Intelligent and sociable, they can use their smarts to manipulate, blackmail and defraud their victims, leaving them penniless, betrayed, confused and depressed. It's nasty and disgusting what they can do.
It’s nice that Cato thinks that, and I agree. Even though I actually have a handful of OCs that do this either because they just want to or they’re mostly doing it because they have no other choice/getting payback against someone who deserves it. Like a loan shark for Saian's case even if she’s the boss of a crime syndicate of her own. Then again, she was paid to do that. Well Saian just does as she pleases. If the offer is good, or it’s someone she doesn’t like, she’ll do it and sometimes won’t accept the pay. Anything to destroy the very person she’s targeting.

fraud - Is it normal to be asked for an advance fee on a withdrawal?
fraud – Is it normal to be asked for an advance fee on a withdrawal?
No, when transferring or selling Bitcoin you don’t ever have to first pay any sort of extra fee in advance. Being asked to pay in extra money for any sort of fee is a trick of confidence tricksters (conmen, scammers, fraudsters) Ordinary Bitcoin transactions will deduct a small amount of Bitcoin from the balance as a transaction fee (not a transfer fee), but this is not something extra you pay…
