hi everyone. yesterday my friends and i got on the topic of sonic rarepair ships because my friend cat @/silvers-starrway is doing sonic rarepair requests. I wasn't sure about what exactly constituted a rarepair wrt sonic, so i asked. the answer i kept getting was "below 500 fics on ao3", so for fun i decided to have my friends give me a few ships and i'd look them up on ao3 to see if they qualified as a rarepair according to these parameters. this devolved into me getting really curious and making a whole spreadsheet dedicated to figuring out just how many fics each sonic ship has on ao3-- excluding those below 10 fics because at that point i find it kind of impossible and a headache to keep up with the amount of pairings a character could have. i have also excluded proship ships for this.

there's probably quite a few ships i missed due to the sheer size of this franchise, so feel free to comment one if you don't see it and i'll add it to the spreadsheet if it has enough fics to qualify! again this was just for fun and out of interest to see which ships had the most/least amount of fics. maybe ill turn it into a visual dataset at some point

☆ they're both very grateful for having you, and they show it in different ways!

☆ just know you'll always be sporting a little braid in your hair throughout the day- Viva loves to add little hair charms so you two can match [and tries to rope Clay into it, too]

☆ all three of you have matching bracelets, and you'd be surprised to know that it was actually Clay who made them! The thread is tied off a little sloppily, but he tried to join you and Viva in something you both loved, and it warmed your heart and had Viva squealing

☆ Clay tries to be smooth and subtle but Viva gets too impatient lol

Viva's a very affectionate person in general, but with something as delicate and important to her as this, she's scared of changing your dynamic and what it could bring [and is afraid of either of you not feeling the same and leaving her behind]

☆ Once she gets over that initial fear the PDA is amped up by 100! She's holding your hands and dragging you across the golf course, constant hugging and kisses in public

☆ Clay's a little more quiet about it- he doesn't want the other trolls thinking he's gone soft, but....he'll link his pinkie with yours and lean down to kiss your forehead when no one's looking

☆ They're not the type to get jealous- Viva loves seeing you and Clay being all cute together, and Clay's glad you two have each other when he's busy with work

☆ Speaking of- if Clay's taking too long working on something and won't take a break? You and Viva are sitting behind him on the couch being as dramatic and ridiculous as possible

☆ "ohhh....I'm just so cold and miserable....if only our boyfriend would give us the time of day!" Viva slumps back on the cushions and puts a hand across her heart, trying to hold back her smile, "Viva, it's hopeless....he cares only for calculus and equations, the cheater." You both look at each other and burst out into a fit of giggles. Clay sighs and turns his chair around, opening his arms wide for a hug "fine, fine. Get over here."

☆ It gets a little hard to cuddle with 3 people [and a work table that Clay insists on, because these supplies won't order themselves] but you all make it work

- it's usually Clay in the middle, you sat in his lap with your arms wrapped around his waist, and Viva behind the both of you fiddling with Clay's hair and gossiping with you

☆ Clay really likes reading aloud to you both- he knows Viva can't sit still long enough to finish his favorite books, though she does try, and he doesn't really mind it. Reading out loud to you makes it more of a date activity, and your reactions make reading all the more fun

- [especially when Viva gasps at the plot twists and you fumble over Clay's shoulder to make sure he's not messing with you, and the book really did say that]

☆ Viva LOVES sleepovers, and you three usually have them at your place. While Viva's house is perfect for sleepovers, she tends to get too lazy to make her bed [and you'd rather not sleep on sticky candy], and Clay's bedroom is just.....well.

☆ Clay's surprisingly clingy in the mornings- while Viva's up and ready to go, rushing to bring you a mug of your favorite drink and kiss you, Clay's clinging onto you and shoving his head into your back to stay away from the sunlight

☆ Viva can really unwind with you, being open and vulnerable without the fear of being weak or being left behind- she knows you'll always be there, by her side

☆ Clay can be his true self around you, without forcing himself to have this serious image all the time- he knows you see him for all he is, and if he has fun around you it won't be all you define him as

☆ The putt putt trolls all know you're a close trio- to the point that seeing any of you without the other two feels wrong somehow, even before you all started dating

So the "Jesper is Wylan's sugar baby" jokes don't bother me TOO badly, but they irk me slightly because they're pretty much based on the fact that no one knows what an allowance is beyond the context of "spending money a parent gives to their child". An allowance in business is an amount of money given to someone for a specific business-related expense, so the "allowance" mentioned at the end of CK is just the amount of money they budgeted to put into the stock market, which Jesper is in charge of. Because you know, he's smart and also Wylan's business partner, not his incompetent pet. Ok maybe the jokes bother me some

Have you ever heard of the Secret Life of Candace? Aka best mermaid au ever? GUESS WHO WROTE IT?

I have been in the Phineas and Ferb fandom for over a decade - writing fics for it for 12 years, can y'all believe that? I'm one of the oldest "original" fandom members left on AO3, which is actually insane.

And to this day the things I love about the show have shifted a little - favorite characters, favorite tropes, ships, etc. Nothing drastic, but anyone who's been following me since the beginning has definitely seen those changes.

But the thing I have always loved most about this fandom IS the fandom. The PnF fandom is one of the most wholesome fandoms I've ever been in, and it's the reason it's one of the only fandoms I still interact with. Sure, there's been drama, and sometimes we don't all agree - no fandom will ever always agree on everything (if they do....run)

Overall tho this fandom is so kind and wonderful, and given how small we are, we are still obnoxiously loud about this show 😂 I love us for that

Regardless if I win or lose (and if I lose, I'm honored to go down to someone like @/inators, who is a very kind person and has a big presence in the fandom), I wanted to say thank y'all for getting me this far

Propaganda: local_dragon has a fantastic way with words and unconventional story telling. AUs where Perry is revealed to the kids are frequent, but ones where he interacts with Linda and Lawrence too are few and far between and the concept has so much potential. I just love their writing

Ended up pirating all of Hazbin for the sake of my younger days (used to be a fan when I was around 14/15, before all the stuff with Viv came out) and I am so surprised by how I felt... nothing for the most part. Like a lot of the show's storylines feel like they was crammed in there with no real pacing. A lot of this should have been season 2 territory, which is a sentiment I've seen echoed around, but also... it feels as if the show is trying to be episodic while also having a long narrative thread, which just doesn't work with just 8 episodes. Especially not when paced like this. So I kinda ended up feeling nothing for the most part. All the events got a "Oh, great, so what?" reaction out of me because there was little to no buildup to most of them.

Sir Pentious was always a fave of mine so I was glad to see they kept him around and, though I think we should have had more episodes with him as a villain, I think how he ended up was fitting for what little of an arc he had. I am livid about what they did to Cherri and Mimzy.

I fucking loved Mimzy, I have no idea why they sent her away -- having someone like her at the Hotel would have been a blast considering how the others are already on the road to redemption. She would have balanced it out by being a regular sinner, someone who doesn't care about redemption and won't probably ever care unless it's in her best interests to. Plus her friendship with Alastor was quite cute, they bounce off of each other very well imo. Plus I could see her have a bit of a conflict with both Charlie and Vaggie because of her ways of acting. I'm so sorry they took that from you girlboss.

And Cherri... dear lord where WAS she? She should have been a lot more present. I used to like her relationship with Angel and I even think Cherrisnake is cute conceptually, but both these relationship had... little to no room to breathe imo.

devo la main has BPD: an analysis brought to you by a guy who also has BPD

listen okay it’s my personality disorder and i get to choose the fictional characters i project it onto

after relistening to ethersea i’ve come to the conclusion that devo is a BPD king (or at least exhibits a lot of BPD traits imo)

let’s first start by going over some of the diagnostic criteria that i feel devo meets:

1. fear of abandonment

it’s been explicitly stated that devo hates being left alone and with what we know about his past it tracks that a fear of abandonment would develop after a) being isolated, neglected, and abused for most of his life, and b) his mom “mysteriously disappearing” when he was 6

he probably spent a lot of his time at the cloister trying so hard to be “good” so that he would be able to get the acknowledgment and attention from his caregivers that he needed, but as we know from the interactions we see with him and guidance and orlene and the flashback, it’s likely he rarely ever got that

i’d also say that he does show signs of taking efforts to avoid abandonment, mainly in the form of pushing ppl away before they can abandon him first. the moment in benefactors folly where he’s trying to piss the others off enough to let him go alone is a big example of this imo

2. unstable relationships

i think it’s pretty obvious that devo’s interpersonal relationships are a mess. like with those in the church, with the others on the coriolis (ESPECIALLY amber), and with most of the ppl he interacts with

devo has a very special talent of pissing ppl off by simply opening his mouth for long enough. and imo i think that after guidance’s death he def split on amber after realizing she wasn’t going to be the mother figure he wanted her to be and id say also that he split on guidance too around the time he left the church

3. unstable self-image

being isolated and manipulated and raised to be a certain kind of person from a young age can do some serious damage to a developing sense of identity. devo has also said himself that he bases a lot of who he is on the anger and resentment he feels towards the church and the ppl in it

i can also see there being a lot of disconnect between his identity as devo, as devotion, and as damien cern. he doesn’t know who he is but he knows that he’s angry

4. impulsive or self-damaging behaviors

look, a mentally sane person would not use their body as a conduit to channel powerful compression magic through and into a bomb (something that is again explicitly described as an irrational action), nor would they dive into magically dark water while barely knowing how to swim

i could also see arguments for reckless spending with immediately getting into debt with felix, and i get the vibe that he has used alcohol as a maladaptive coping mechanism on more than one occasion

5. mood swings

his emotions seem to really flip on a dime esp with his anger. it does not take much for this guy to fly off the handle and imo he also exhibits intense emotions as well

6. problems with anger

this goes along with point 5 i think. devo shows a lot of trouble with controlling his anger and lashing out at ppl with little to no provocation

devo has a very explosive temper and travis even described him as being like an exposed nerve. he lashes out easily and is quick to threaten others when he feels he’s not being taken seriously

we don’t really see much that would point towards suicidal/self-harm tendencies, and i think there’s a bit of stuff for the chronic feelings of worthlessness and emptiness as well as stress-related paranoia, but in my head those do exist in him if you look deep enough. and from my list he already meets at least 5 needed for a diagnosis

another big thing about BPD that i see in devo is the very black and white thinking. he sees things very much as either black or white, right or wrong, and this gets him into a lot of conflict and confrontations with others. he has a very strong sense of justice and while it causes a lot of problems for him and the ppl he interacts with i also think it’s what drives him to do what he does and fight for others as strongly as he does

and he’s wrong a lot of the time, things aren’t that black and white and there are a lot of grey areas he has trouble seeing and it leads to so much conflict and tension which i eat up like a yummy treat

a lot of ppl with BPD (myself included) are very self aware of the problems they have and devo does definitely start to develop that awareness of him being a piece of shit and how he’s not great at his interactions with others

this is a very self-indulgent headcanon but it means a lot to me and devo has such a grip on my brain rn i just had to share this
