This is a hypothetical question, but do you think if there were more consoles on the market instead of the current big 3 we have today, do you think that would be more beneficial to the game industry and market?

I don't think it would be helpful. Game consoles are primarily platforms on which to deliver content to players, alongside PC, mobile, VR, and other various devices. Most of what makes a console compelling is the kind of exclusive games you can play on that console - as long as the technical specs are fairly similar, you can pretty much play the same games on one console as on another, aside from the exclusives.

Adding or fragmenting more exclusive content among more platforms isn't necessarily a good thing. We can take a look at another market where there are multiple competing platforms all trying to deliver content, many of whom have their own set of exclusives. How do you feel about having so many streaming services like Apple TV+, Disney+, HBO Max, Netflix, Tubi, Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, Starz, and so on? When a new streaming service is announced with exclusive content attached to it, what is your reaction? Personally, I get more than some amount of streaming fatigue. In the case of streaming video, I don't feel like I'm getting a better value overall with more players in the game. They're all essentially fighting over distribution of the same pool of overall content.

I saw this Space invaders 3D in a youtube video about returning to retro-gaming. It caught my eye.

I found that it only came out in Japan and PAL territories on Space Invaders Anniversary. It was a console exclusive for the PS2 but it also came out in arcades and on PC.

It was released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Space Invaders which is pretty crazy as this game had it's own 20th Anniversary last year

The PAL cover I included is missing the wreath around the invader but I have also seen it with it.

I like the reflective metallic finish.

I missed the Switch 2 direct and I'm not in the mood to sit through an hour long presentation, can someone just give me a quick rundown. I saw Pokemon Colosseum and XD are gonna be available on Nintendo Online or w/e and that's exciting. Wish they'd stop teasing us with shadow Pokemon and just make a new Orre game already though.

Also saw someone say something about Kirby Air Ride 2 but I don't know if they were joking or not.

Thing's expensive as hell so I'm likely not gonna bother getting one until a new Pokemon game comes out on it. Legends ZA doesn't count because that's gonna be available on og Switch, even if Switch 2 has like, better performance or whatever. That stuff doesn't bother me too much.

Hiya everyone! How is everyone feeling?

I've been wanting to get more into old web/internet, skeumorphism and frutiger (again). I've been a bit off of it after I posted about my 3ds on TikTok and started getting some hate for it/people being angry in my comments - overall just very unsavoury and grossed me out a little bit.

I just wanted to share about it, but there is a specific group of people in the nintendo/modding community that has very strong opinions about who has the right to own old consoles and how you should be using them. A lot of it is rooted in misogyny, and a lot of them are very homo-/transphobic, so they're very obsessed with gatekeeping it from these groups in particular.

I think a lot of them are also very young (definitely below 18), but it's still a bit concerning, and it doesn't change the fact that my safe space became a bit tainted by it. Not nearly everyone was being rude, but it doesn't take a lot when people start implying that you shouldn't be alive because you're queer, and into old Nintendo consoles.

But then I remembered: Tumblr!

Overall, the community on Tumblr is far more accepting and tolerant. I think it was silly of me to post on TikTok and expect nobody to be arguing with me or each other in the comments. My other posts on there have had mostly positive feedback however. The frutiger/utopian virtual community is very calm and has a overall very positive vibe, so I can recommend interacting with them. Just keep away from the Nintendo community haha.

TLDR: I posted about my modded 3ds to TikTok and the comments were less than fun to go through, so I wanted to talk about it a bit here. I will probably be spending more time on Tumblr from now on.

Thinking about the aftermath of the Alqualondë and the abject misery and horror of the Teleri as they try to salvage what they can and pull the bodies of their dead from the waves. Perhaps they don't want to deal with any of the Noldor at this point in time, not even those who turned back with Finarfin (and possibly fought to defend them during battle).

However, there are four people associated with the House of Finwë they do welcome: Indis, Findis, Anairë and Nerdanel leading the Vanyar from Taniquetil to help to deal with the situation. Bearing lamps from Manwë's own halls to bring some light to the healers and the wounded. Helping to clean and dress injuries with fragrant herbs from the gardens of Lórien. Clearing the harbour and the streets of debris. Preparing food and drink to those who are tirelessly working to make the suffering even tiny bit lesser. Cleaning bloodstained limbs and dressing them with the deathless flowers of Eldamar before bodies are laid to rest. Comforting and holding on to the orphans, widows and all the rest with broken families, and caring for those who are left alone to wait for their kin to come back from Mandos. Nerdanel's quiet firmness and Anairë's encouragements as they walk about the harbour to assess the damage and to make plans for restoration and interview the harbour masters to learn what goods will be needed. Indis' calm, determined face as she gives orders to her people and takes as much as she can of the burden from Olwë and Eärwen's shoulders so that they may grieve with their people. Findis seems to be everywhere at once, lending a hand or a hug or a shoulder to cry on where one is needed.

There are Maiar too, sent by the Valar to help and comfort as they may, but somehow it's these four women and their followers that bring greatest consolation to the Teleri. There are still true friends in Aman.

When the worst of the shock and grief has numbed into a deep ache, it is Indis who gathers them all on the seashore. There under the light of stars she sings the lament she has made for the Mariners who lost their lives, and the White Ships that will never return to the Haven of the Swans, and in her clear voice mingles the endless sighing of the sea.
