Returning home after being stuck inside a virtual world for two entire years, the last thing Rise expected to see when she finally returned home was everyone at each other's throats. Watching as her father and the boy she'd fallen for go back and forth with each other. They both thought that they themselves were in the right, and she felt torn by their bickering.

As Hiro snapped at Guren, Rise looked up in surprise before she reached to gently take his hand. "Hey, hey, shouting isn't going to help here... Take a breath, okay, Shi?... I can take it from here." She told him, her voice gentle as she now offered that smile that told him everything would be okay.

"Can you at least hear us out...? We weren't aware of any of this until now and I don't think it's fair to say that none of what we had was real." She spoke to her dad now, an almost sad look in her eyes, "I thought you would be happy for me..."

So i watched ultraman 80 further and at ep 10, we found out that his childhood friend, Alma came to visit him

She stays at his house and caused some shenanigans by tricking his students who tried to take a peek at the exam paper. At first i thought she's just a basic romcom 'childhood friend' character (80 has A LOT shiptease elements) but it's revealed she has an important task on earth?

Firstly, 80 how many female childhood friends with important positions do you have?? Secondly, this convo is too chill considering she has a lot of power in determining earth's fate. Which is very concerning because she found out the result of her observation is not good, Earthlings has a lot of resentment -minus energy - which somehow ended up being absorbed by her pet/partner which turned into a kaiju

Luckily, Takeshi managed to beat it and showed her how there are still good people on Earth, because humans are capable of feeling remorse and change from their mistakes. In the end she changed her mind and spared Earth

This whole episode is mindblowing to me? How come 80 has friends like this 😭 I wonder if Alma is the inspiration for Justice and Shin Zoffy, since their roles are so similar?? The difference is she's more chill/lighthearted than the two who are so serious. Sadly she never shows up again in the series 😭 I'm really intrigued by her, i wish they expanded her more...

Sadly Alma left at the end of the ep without showing her true form, but! Her form was shown in the M730 Ultra P Show (the pink one)

From what i understood according to an account by someone who watched this show, there's more romcom involving 80 since apparently both Yullian and 80 work together as teachers in this story, and Alma suddenly visits 80, which caused her to become jealous 😅

I'm honestly not interested in romance at all but I'm so curious about the lore behind her and 80, how did they become friends? What was their friendship like? (Same question with Yullian too...)

Now that I’ve finished Altered Carbon, I think it would be fun to share one of my notes from my notes app that I’ve been writing on since I’ve started it. I’ve cried a lot about this book, and everything I’ve ever left behind has claw marks.

Things I love about book Kovacs

- he’s trying to quit smoking

- His hallucinations are of Jimmy and Virginia Vadura

- Him and Ortega don’t actually hate eachother that much in the beginning

- At first Takeshi doesn’t actually hate Bancroft either

- He’s genuinely confused about earth terms

- He was mad that at the Wei clinic they didn’t give him back his watch or his bandana, simply because he just bought it and he’d liked the watch

- He likes shopping

- He likes fruit juice???

- Gaslit Umou into being late to Psychasec because he needed to eat breakfast

- He deals with hangovers like a champ

- Started smoking in the construct once he remembered it had no real consequences in the real

- Understands female complexity/differences between male and female

- Knows how to handle gentle situations most of the time (victor talking about his daughter, Kristen talking about Ryker.)

- Quotes poetry from Quell

- Also enjoys poetry (ex; the carving on the bench at the faculty when he’s waiting for the doctor.)

- Apparently having a very deep very drugged convo about cats in chapter 26

- Repeats the same Virginia Vidora quote over again. ‘We take what is offered. And sometimes, that must be enough.’

- Reileen always starting off her talks with him in Japanese because she thinks it unites them in a way

- Had to stop himself from calling reileen ray

- He actually DOES genuinely smile (ex; when Irene is exited about the limo)

- ‘I’m a sucker for family reunions.’ HE ACTUALLY DOES CARE (maybe it’s because him and Sarah never got to have one after he was taken out of the store.)

- Sleeping in the car (limo) so Irene can get laid

- The guilt/itchiness he has after relapsing into smoking

- Him and Trepp are actually friends and she insists that they go party, drink coffee, play card games together, ect.

Plot swap

K:"You know Eclipse, I've seen a fair amount of Harry ( or hp character) as an Archoblanco, or Harry goes to Italy, or reincarnation, or Harry interacts with the Mafia in some way, plots, but has there ever been a straight up mostly plot swap?"

Like, Lilly and Petunia had a mother who married out of the Vologa family, and being normal was a trait Petunia got from her mother, who wanted to be excessively normal to blend in and not get noticed as ex Mafia. Unfortunately, it comes to an end, when one of her grandchildren activates as a sky (and her cousins children all end up dead, and in need of a new leader)

So Reborn is sent to train Harry (and Dudley) Into a Boss, and subordinate. 

Reborn is displeased at the living conditions, and makes his displeasure known to the entirety of England. 

Not sure if they would have magic or not, in this one. Could be interesting to do, either way. 

Meanwhile, back in Japan, Tsuna wasn't sealed, but is on the autism spectrum, and going to Mahoutokoro, where his quiet study of magic is interrupted when meets half Italian, half Japanese Gokudera Hayato, a genius musician who loves to investigate, and drags him, and an increasingly growing group of friends to study magical beasts, rumors, and accidently gets them captured by an infamous group of white robes. 

Maybe in this one, Hayato was orphaned by this alternative white robe Voldemort, and Tsuna has to learn to fight to protect himself and his friends, while also surviving quidditch, and his schoolwork.

Alternatively, they are both Skies, and messes, and different kinds of messes, nither of which Reborn feels is suited towards leading the Mafia. Let alone together. 

Harry is an Electric sky, Dudley is a Rainy sky. Both are a mess he is not being paid enough to deal with.

Takeshi is the one who got Tsuna invested in Quidditch. It's not his fixation, although Tsuna likes flying, and wants to do something with it

Hibari, wears a gold robe, and values the rules of the school, and wants to bite this version of Voldemort to death with Tonfa's.

Because Dudley and Harry both have enough to sort out (particularly if they Sky battle each other) without adding angry competition (unless its to team up to win)

Maybe a hit has been placed on Japanese white robe voldemort, and the Varia got hired. 

Xanxus in this verse, made his way into the Mafia, by joining the Varia, and eventually ended up leading it, after 14 year old Squalo decided "This! This is who I am going to have lead the assassins. And me! This angry street punk! Is my sky!" Wait, that's practicality cannon. 

Oh My god mon ami. Canon or AU, the Volga legacy is lead by disaster sky messes, and their equally disaster guardians!"

E:" Both Au and canon are ruled by disaster skies it is confirmed!!"

K: " Wait, one more thing. 

In this version Lavinia was a mistress, but when she was pregnant,  married a japanese man, moved there, and was killed by alternate version white robe voldemort. 

The Husbands brother raised him out of respect for what he thinks is his brothers son. Hayato takes piano, in memory of his mother. 

His world is upset by Bianchi, who wants to meet her half brother, by her revolation, which may mean, he may not have actually been raised by his uncle, and his mother may have cheated on her husband, and he is just all upset by this, ok!

In this world, there were no "artistic poison piano recitals", but not all on the family front is smooth for him.

Takeshi's parents were both hitmen. His father put away the blade to be a parent. His mother, had a harder time with that.

Or maybe Takeshi's mother was a witch, and Takeshi also has a debt of revenge to pay to White Robe Voldemort. 

I'm not sure what to do with Ismetsu. 

He might be dead, because sometimes the odds jut roll wrong, and he kept his family on the DL enough, that almost nobody knew he was married, to the point that nobody thought of his civilian wife (who hadn't gotten to inform him she was pregnant). 

Or maybe, when Tsuna got scared, what he called up wasn't flames, but magic. And Nana erased the memory from "Trimeto", and a lot of long conversations were had.

Or maybe it was public, and a mass wiping happened.

Also, what the heck should I do with Harry and Dudley, as an environment. 

The Dursley family, for all they look normal, have issues. 

So another environment for Reborn to train them in, would be needed. 

Dudley, to get away from his family, and in a place he can grow into a better person. 

Harry, a less abusive environment, where he can heal, and excel, without threat of Dudley sabotage. 

But what the heck do I do with them, send them to Mafia school?"

E:"Hayato life is never easy will it be? But an interesting background!!!

K:" Thanks. His Uncle did not really know his brother's wife well, or the circumstances, but is trying to do right by his brother.

The Freedom of Expression, radio version - Live special #3, August 9th 2016.

✯📆Kaoru starts by trying to remember when the last live special was, getting it wrong by saying it was at the start of year (It was actually in Dec).  Kaoru comments on how the amount of staff in the studio is different from usual when they go live. They also have half-price off food from the supermarket to keep them going for 2 hours.

✵🐎They then welcome Hiranabe and Tasai to join them for the show. Hiranabe worries whether he'll still have a job in the morning after doing this show. He doesnt want to lose his job, as he just also lost a ton of money on the horse racing.

Kaoru then suggest they might get a visit from Kami at some point, and they will try to have a phone call with Dobashi, who is currenly in Brazil 🇧🇷.

He then gets started with the top 5 stories of the first half of 2016. Counting down from...

●5. North Korean satellite lauch/ America and Japan suspect an intercontinental ballistic missile launch - Hiranabe thinks American satellites are so advanced that America will know exactly what N.Korea is doing. Joe thinks the wording/phrasing in such news articles makes a big difference as to how the story is percieved.

Kami tells them he is ok to appear on the show tonight, as he managed to catch the last train home after work. He's now enjoying taking part with a beer.

●4. A boom in adultery - Celebrity Becky's affair (plus apology to her sponsers at a press conference) at the start of the year has set off a string of public revelations about the adulterous affairs of other celebrities, all of whom have also immediately held press conferences to apologize. Before this year, celebrities tended to use their personal blogs etc to address the accusations. Joe brings up something he heard from Nuclear Safety Chief Madarame Haruki when interviewing him about the 3.11 disaster. Madarame said that it has long been Japan's culture to never badmouth a samurai who has commited seppuku. Badmouthing such a person makes you worse than whatever they did. In this way, if celebs appear at a press conference with tears in their eyes and full of apology, they can avoid any future dragging about their past mistakes.

✵🏘️At this point Kaoru takes a break from the countdown to read out an email from a listener. The email is from someone who currently lives in their hometown, but is thinking of moving to Tokyo, so they want to know Kaoru's advice for moving to Tokyo for the first time as a single person. Kaoru says he moved to Tokyo 19 years ago, and lived in Nerima ward at first, specifically the neighborhood Fujimidai. This was to be near to where Dir's manager lived. The rent was ¥120,000 a month for a 2LDK apartment, which he shared with Kyo. Kami gives out advice to not be picky about specific locations when searching for a cheap place. Hiranabe brings up the website 'Oshima teru', where you can check to see which apartments have previously been the sites of murders/deaths. The rent for such apartments is often abnormally cheap.  

✵🤭🤭🤭 Next Kaoru moves onto some news which interested Hiranabe a lot, the story being very typical of him....'Admission of squirting'. (Lots of laughs from the others, and Joe wants to know more 😆). The story relates to the model Darenogare Akemi. She appeared on a radio show and was denying the rumour that she was the type to lie still during sex, she claimed that she moves around and vocalises a lot during sex. The host of the show asked her, 'Yeh, but I bet you don't squirt?'. She replied on air, 'I do, I did for the first time a year and a half ago'. Hiranabe decided to dedicate a whole page in Tokyo Sports to this story.

Hiranabe was also fond of the Beat Takeshi 'Comǎneci pose' story, invovling actresses Ayase Haruka, Nagasawa Masami, and Hirose Suzu. This story was talked about previously on Ep 25.

✵☎️Next, they try having a direct phone convo with a listener. The caller brings up the news of the 2016 World Happiness Report, in which Japan ranked at #53. Joe explains these results are obtained by surveying local populations, but each nation has different standards of what happiness is. Kaoru thinks happiness is not something that should be ranked in this way. The caller then asks Hiranabe why he never learns to not spend so much money on women. He answers 'Because Im an idiot'. Joe asks the caller what she thinks Hiranabe looks like. She says 'a face which can't be broadcast'. (Laughs all round).

✵🎶Next they listen to a few of the new jingle entries. They like the second entry, which apparently contains phrases influened by a couple of Dir songs. They also like the fifth entry and ask Kami to do the voice-over on it, which they all find hilarious. Kaoru says he might use some of these entries on the show in future.

📞✵🇧🇷Next they connect via the phone to Dobashi, who is in Brazil covering the 2016 Olympics for Tokyo Sports. He is calling from the table tennis venue, as he is covering a match there. He says he has seen a few Japanese athletes win gold medals in other events, and encourages listeners to buy Tokyo Sports to read his reports.

They ask Dobashi various questions about security, and the local food etc, then Hiranabe asks him if he has any of the commemorative Olympic condoms, and whether or not he has used them. Dobashi says he has some, but hasn't used them. He opened one to check it out, and it was so thick, obviously not made in Japan (his words). Hiranabe asks him to bring some back as souvenirs 🤭😆

✵Before moving onto # 3 in the countdown, Kaoru reads out an email. This is from a listener who is a fan of Dobashi and wants to know what kind of woman he likes. Hiranabe knows his type..he likes kinda crazy women. Another email from 'radio name: 0.3mm' asks for some Olympic condoms. The last email asks them whether they like watching movies on regular screens, or on 3D/4D screenings. Kaoru prefers regular screens, otherwise he finds it difficult to concentrate. He recently watched the movie 'Shin Godzilla' (in 2D), and was anxious seeing familiar Tokyo landmarks getting trashed.

●3. Muhammed Ali's death. This was discussed in ep 39, about how Ali was very outspoken in regards to segregation. Despite Obama becoming the first black president, Joe questions how much discrimination against black people by white people in the US has actually improved. Hiranabe agrees with Joe, in that based on the news, race relations are not improving at all. Joe says we must be careful not to focus too much on the big headline of Obama as President. That doesn't suddenly mean everything is ok now.

Hiranabe then talks for a bit about his memories of prowrestler Antonio Inoki, who fought with Ali once.

●2. The eventual resignation of (former) Tokyo Governor Masuzoe Yōichi. Masuzoe had held onto his position as long as possible, claiming he was innocent. He's used specific techniques during press conferences to avoid getting cornered. Hiranabe was impressed with the words of new candidate Torigoe Shuntaro, who used the phrase, 'Everyone please get distracted', instead of the usual 'Don't get distracted', which candidates usually finish their speeches with. Joe draws comparisons with the 3.11 response. A third party investigation committee was set up in both the 3.11 case and Masuzoe's case, but if the guilty parties are choosing which lawyers make up the committee, its not very impartial in the end. Use of the word 'third-party' is another trick politicians use to try to look innocent.

✵☎️Next they take another phone call from a listener. This caller's first fave news of the year is the announcement of new Dir en grey tours. His second is about Pokemon Go. He asks if Kaoru plays. Kaoru says he's already given up, after getting to level 12. Joe interrupts to say Kami looks as if he's about to fall asleep.

Reaching the end of the countdown..

●1. Mystery Phoenix appears in sun. This is a story from Tokyo Sports back in May. Shapes resembling a phoenix have been spotted in various photos of the sun which were released by NASA. Tokyo Sports offered the suggestion of whether this might actually be real. Tasai hands a copy of Tokyo Sports out to everyone to show them the image, but Kaoru is more interested in another story on the same page: 'Discovery in Arizona of trunk from 20cm tall elephant with fish gills'. Joe then reads out some similarly crazy headlines from the newspaper in his hands. The question arises of whether this story merits being at #1.

✵To finish a quick suggestion of another live special at the end of the year, as long as everyone still has their job, and are not in Atami...., and Kaoru plugs his upcoming tours. In the last min, they all agree that Kami voicing the jingle was the funniest bit of the show. Kaoru wishes the listeners good luck at work tomorrow after staying up late to listen to the show.

1. shinobu narita from serendipity next door throwing a fucking fit because mc saw something personal of his while he literally was snooping through her personal work bag basically every day and making shitty, uncalled-for comments about it all the time

you just called YOURSELF insensitive you dickweed!!!!!! 

2. issei telling mc to kill him. i couldn’t believe he actually did that. i thought kor mc was going to battle through her conflict between love and revenge internally but when he told her to do it, i thought my heart was going to stop. i think this is not only one of the most memorable but what i probably consider to be one of the greatest voltage moments

3. when lute from akd actually dies. this is the one and only voltage moment that actually had me sobbing in real life. i make a lot of jokes about crying over voltage routes and guys. but when lute’s heart stopped beating i was actually a mess. i remember having to take a half hour break to actually weep into my pillow because i just couldn’t bear it. maybe i was premenstrual or in a particularly weak mental state? no idea, but that one scene really wrecked me in that moment

4. kaga’s colourless dream/nightmare of mc’s death when he takes a bullet for her. we rarely see kaga express how important his mc is for him, but this really cemented that she is everything to him. to see the meaning of her in his life, the responsibility he also feels to her family, the fact that he’ll do anything and change anything just to have her back, in such a poetic way felt so poignant, especially on the back of what happened in adversaries when kaga had to choose chasing the perp over saving mc who was bleeding out. when i think of kaga’s love for his mc, it’s this scene which i think captures it the best. 

5. hue ripping the stars out of his one remaining eye to save his love again/goddess mc making her decision between being with hue or saving humanity/mc going back in time and promising hue they’ll find each other in the future. i can’t pick between these three incredible hue x mc moments so i’m just gonna bundle them together as memorable hue moments. (oh!! also when mc finally remembers hue in the lake!!) these three moments i think are the pinnacle of what i consider to be voltage’s most fated romance. these moments are what make hue x mc my forever otp, because these two are each other’s past, present and future and they were never meant to be with anyone else. anyway hue should have been scm’s title character because he and mc are the canon scm couple and i WILL fight anyone who says otherwise.

6. BONUS when ayumu and mc finally have sex for the first time. the anticipation had been building up for so long and then to have that whole agonising ‘error’ and misunderstanding happen before they finally did the deed really made it so significant when they do finally have sex. i think this may probably be the most touching and momentous sex scene in any voltage route.

1. ayumu shinonome: if you scroll waaaay far back to some of my earliest hlitf tagged posts, you may remember this time when i was saying i was afraid to play him because he seemed too twisted (btw this is because i was/am still suffering from shinobu-induced trauma) and i didn’t wanna spend money buying all his routes hahaha (tea, you fool!!!). luckily @effloresensemn ​ talked me out of it and he’s definitely someone who i have come to absolutely ADORE. talking about this mushroom with @gamerjanice ​ and @world-a-to-z ​ is probably one of my favourite things to do on tumblr haha.

2. takeshi yuno: i mean i was definitely interested in him from the start and then i really started to fall for him about midway through his MS. but i think it was his later seasons where i came to love him more than ever. he and his mc go through so much together. i once said that take’s routes put a thousand tons of emotional burden on you and i really think that is what makes their relationship so great. they’ve been together through all the ups and (so, so many) downs and it just makes their relationship (and my love for him) so much stronger because of all the difficulties. 

3. chikage: this dude is… both so hard and so easy to love. sometimes i’m like oh chikage why you so tsun but then he’ll just do something ridiculously cute or suddenly be really straightforward about something embarrassing and i’ll be like whAT???? you’re too shy to hold my hand in public but you’ll sacrifice your life to save me? or comment on my ass??? i love love love chikage so much even though he’s prickly as a cactus but i just have to share one of my favourite moments which is when mc gained some weight and was trying to wear a weighted vest under her clothes to lose the weight and she fell off a boat and was drowning and chikage, who hates getting wet and didn’t even wanna ride this boat, dived in to save her. and then this exchange happened:

4. kazuomi shido: i wasn’t expecting to like kazuomi as much as i do because i really thought he was just gonna be generic oresama type. but i’d definitely say he’s more of the kyohei type than the leon type, if that makes sense. i thought yuzuru was going to be My Guy in masquerade kiss but actually i think i like kazuomi more (although i prefer yuzuru’s mc cause she’s better at her job haha). he’s just… fun? but he’s so clever, and i love that he challenges his mc and kinda toys with her and lets her do her own thing rather than just commanding/ordering her around. also when i found out about his past and his love for crowded/frenetic places i think that’s when i really felt a stronger connection to him because i feel really similarly myself. 

5. hiro sarashina: i’m actually surprised that i ended up liking him because honestly i don’t really go for the genki guys and at that time @hikarunohana and i had this thing going where we were just hating on sora from msb who i thought would hiro would be really similar to lol but yeah i was kinda surprised that i actually ended up loving hiro because he’s surprisingly(?) reliable and attractive.

‘annoyed’ nothing you say is annoying ok, I’m actually just really relieved and happy that I’m helping in any way at all. Also you listen to my rambling all the time and you supported me with my anxiety (you have no idea how much our convos helped after I first saw a doctor about it and was feeling really confused about what to do) so ‘what did I do to deserve you’ is probably what I should be saying to you.

Tbh when things are as serious as you’ve described then you’re definitely not overreacting. Like I said before, I’m always ready to listen/talk when you need to. And you don’t have to stress about replies; I honestly don’t mind at all as long as you’re ok.

Also, good news and bad news:

Bad news- A bit after I sent the last message mom apparently found out about Tumblr and decided that I probably shouldn’t get an account here because of all the NSFW content. I get why she’s worried so I guess I won’t be getting an account here for a while.

Good news- HOWEVER, I was chatting with someone on ao3 and they asked if we could move our convo somewhere else. They recommended something called Discord so I got an account there. If you’ve never heard of Discord it’s basically a voice and text chat system usually used by gamers, but it seems to be pretty popular among non-gamers too. PMing is possible there :D (The only flaw is that you can’t send very long messages, so you have to send multiple short ones, which is a bit annoying…but otherwise it’s pretty neat so maybe we can try it if you’re ok with that?)

Yep it was one of the grossest things that ever happened to me OTL I’m still swimming but I’m taking a long break right now- a break that started because my little sister broke her toe and we were basically stuck at home taking care of her (the pool is a bit far for me to go on my own so if mom’s stuck at home so am I), and then got longer because the pool’s old and some things had to be ‘fixed’, and then got even longer because my coach is getting married (just reread that and realized that I sound super annoyed, I’m actually not, I have no problem with my coach getting married XD). I’ll probably start again around next month, though :)

Oooh are you a comic fan??? I haven’t read any superhero comics because there seem to be so many AUs(?)/different timelines so trying to figure out where to start is really confusing, plus I actually sorta prefer manga/manhwa art styles (not that wester comics are bad- a lot of them have really good art too, I just personally prefer the manga/manhwa styles (especially for the panels). Also the ecchi-ish costumes/anatomy for almost every single female superhero gets a bit ridiculous sometimes lol). Some of them seem really fun, though, and I’d like to try them out someday…

(Hisoka low-key writing reader insert lemons about various MCU heroes. Most likely Natasha (because she’s a lot like Machi, his only female crush so far), Bruce (how Hisoka would love to unleash the beast), Thor (he’s a literal GOD imagine how badly he could mess Hisoka up *schwing*), Wanda, and Vision (he probably liked Loki too before Loki got beat up by the Hulk and Hisoka was like ‘oh I have a new senpai’)

Then Illumi gets Milluki (his tech genius little brother) to hack into Hisoka’s computer for info and is like 'what is this Hisoka I do not understand why you derive pleasure from this trash’)

Everyone thinks Gon should relate to Tony on a personal level but he doesn’t, because despite being a sunshine angel he’s also a freaking weird kid who doesn’t hate Ging. At all. (Though that might have something to do with the fact that he doesn’t even consider Ging his parent in the first place; he never even calls him 'dad’ or 'my father’)

Killua, on the other hand, relates to Bucky a bit too much and thinks HYDRA is basically the Zoldyck family.

I’m considering teaching myself to animate just to make those animatics XD

(Also, random thing: it’s Chuseok over here (basically like the Korean version of Thanksgiving, I guess?) and usually, people recieve money from older relatives during holidays like this in Korea. I got about 80 dollars (50 from my maternal grandparents, 10 from my paternal grandfather and 20 from my uncle) so I’m debating on what to spend it on: It’s either a tablet so I can learn how to do digital art (I’m thinking about polishing my drawing skills for a while and then making a webcomic. My parents support this so they’re willing to pay a little extra for a tablet) or a ukulele (I like the piano but I realized a while ago that it’d be great to have an instrument that I can carry around, so I did some research and the ukulele seems good. I really like the sound so I’m willing to put some effort into learning it). Idk which one I should choose, though. Technically the tablet should be my priority but I also like the ukulele…

Yeah, she’s alive :D but apparently Kaneki is now 'dead’ (though I don’t think he is really, if Ishida kills him off now (after all the stuff with Hide? All the character development Ken hasn’t gotten yet? When he still hasn’t talked about anything with Shuu or Hinami or even Akira?) and gives us a new protagonist or something I might finally rage-quit this series.

Or not, since with all the Touken stuff and Kaneki being sorta insensitive ever since he became the OEK…maybe a new protagonist is what we need?). I was liking all the parallels with Arima in the first series until this, because it was just…um. I think my main problem with the whole thing is the freakng PACING because it just feels so clunky and awkward. This is probably one of those chapters that will be really good if Ishida somehow manages to connect it with the next chapters and has everything make sense later, but if he doesn’t do it well it’s going to suck forever OTL

At least TG finally confirmed Naki’s death, though. I mean, the ideal situation for me is if he never died in the first place, but at least a confirmed death is better than Ishida suddenly bringing him back to life after that panel with Yamori. And his death scene was handled well. (Now please just tell me that he, Kanae and Hairu aren’t coming back as Kanou-Furuta zombies and I will be semi-satisfied)

Yeah, I’m really excited for OC’s name too…must be something important if they’re keeping it hidden for this long. I guess it’s French (or a word from some other non-English language) since 'Ciel’ is French for 'Sky’…and it probably has a meaning related to the sky since they’re twins. Idk. Maybe it’s the word for 'star’ ('etoile’) since stars are also a big thing in this arc?

Looking forward to your reaction! I haven’t read the novel yet but from what I know it sounds great :D (also I cannot resist the L + Naomi duo even if they never actually interacted in manga/anime canon)

(Also fun fact: Ryuk was originally designed to look like a handsome young man (an 'attractive rock star’, in the words of DN’s creators. You can find a pic of his original design on google). His design was changed because the creators felt like he was overshadowing Light XD

But also, I just found a post on tumblr that said Takeshi Obata (DN’s artist) mentioned that Ryuk’s face in canon could just be a mask to hide his true appearance…which means that he could technically still look like that in canon. Wow. I actually think I have the book where it says Obata mentioned that, I have to go and check it now lol)

Watch it if you dare and prepare to weep over all the wasted potential, because now that I read/watch more about it I guess the saddest thing is that it COULD have been great. I mean, like I said, the visuals are REALLY good, L’s actor could have been a good L if not for the bad script, Ryuk’s actor/design were also super great (it’s just his role in the movie and his motivations they messed up ;-;)…

I don’t watch Avatar (I’d like to when I have the time, though, because it seems like a great show) but I’ve heard of that movie and tbh I can’t even.

I could say the same about comic/manga styles. Tbh, I don’t really consider myself a comic fan? When I was a kid, I used to buy the children’s comics to ward off boredom, but never really continued after I got into reading actual books. Black Panther happened to be among those comics and I remembered him when they mentioned T’Challa in CW. I wonder if i still have those old comics somewhere… But yeah, i was pretty excited when they mentioned him XD

That viewing actually sounds amazing… I get the feeling they’d all want to do an in depth analyzation of the characters? (But idk i don’t really know the characters that well) except for Hisoka, who’s probably just schwinging around being creepy per usual.
