Lancelot is very much a member of the Percival Platoon, he's been with Percy from the very beginning and he has this close bond with everyone basically being the older brother of the group. However, with Lancelot being one of the four knights it's hard to officially put him as a member of the team.

I'm still riding on the hope that Lancelot and Gawain would have a Platoon of their own but I don't think they're the type of people that would have that which is ok. Since Lancelot is essentially part of the Percy Platoon and Gawain is the same with the Tristan Platoon, the split is still quite even.

For Lancelot and Gawain, at most I can see them having a close personal companion, two at most. With the current arc, characters are introduced and Tioreh, Mertyl and Sixtus are given the spotlight. Mertyl and Nasiens obviously are the main focus so I can see Mertyl just being relevant for this arc and to show up again later or he'll be a mini antagonist for a while who knows. Tioreh being the type of character that she is has a high possibility of joining the entourage and she'll be a fun addition too, I'm still not quite sure about Sixtus though but given his power, there's no doubt he'll be relevant. And with the whole situation with Nasiens, it'll be discussed with the group for sure and you know Nasiens is Lancelot's cousin. It'll be a fun convo

Sephiran and Zelgius Timeline UPDATED

Instead of just having a jumbled idea of the timeline of sephiran and zelgius's relationship I decided I was going to spend my day off writing up my idea of how their timeline works based on cannon information with my own little headcannon flair because i can and you can't stop me.

625: Misaha’s assassination and the serenes massacre → lehran villain arc. Lehran presents the medallion to ashnard and enters daeins service under the guise of a “wise man”

626: “daeins sudden change” → this is likely when the bloodpact began its effects and the deaths of the daein royal family. I THINK THIS IS WHEN SEPHIRAN AND ZELGIUS MET

Zelgius was serving in the Daein army under general Gawain for a few years. While sephiran is serving as a wise man under ashnard's father he meets zelgius and zelgius confides in him and they agree to be with each other when zelgius eventually leaves the daien army.

Later that year Gawain dips out of Daein with Elena. Zelgius despairs that his Master left him. Zelgius would then enter sephirans service.

627: Ashnard becomes the king of daein, (This was originally when I thought zelgius joins sephiran but I found out Gawain actually left BEFORE Ashnard became king according to the radiant dawn artbook).

I assume Sephiran leaves Ashnards service after Ashnard gets what he wants. Seph doesnt fuck with his bad vibes.

627~635: Sephiran and Zelgius do a bit of travelling and make plans for big evil or something. Sephiran still being a travelling sage and zelgius being a knight not connected to any army until he joins the Begnion military perhaps a decade later

During this time sephiran scaffolds information about himself and his past to zelgius. I do genuinely think that sephiran eventually opens up about everything to zelgius (and vice versa) including him being lehran and the origin of the branded.

634: assuming ike is around 7 when his mom died, this would be around the time point where Gawain touched the medallion and lehran and zelgius saw the aftermath. 

The reason why I think ike is 7 years old here (*he's born in 628*) is because that is how old soren would have been too according to his own timeline (based on his support convos), and those two met the day before the gawain medallion shenanigan occurred

Idrk when seph and zel join begnion as dukes. Based off of the artbook zelgius was actually born into a begnion family before fleeing to daein so maybe he reclaimed the cador family name or something. Sephiran claimed to be from a long line of mages (Persis) and somehow become a noble through this so called mage lineage.

637: sephzelg 10 yr anniversary

635: Sanaki is born. Sephiran may or may not be a senator at this stage

Sephiran begins to rise up the senate ranks through rizz and zelgius rises up the army ranks

At some point between 635-640: sanakis parents are killed by the senate probably

640: sanaki (5 years old) becomes the empress of begnion and sephiran becomes the “senate leader” aka prime minister 

the event lekain talks about when sanaki would stfu during formal proceedings and they discover sephiran has insane babysitting skills occurs right after sanaki becomes the empress i think

645: beginning of mad kings war. At this point in time sephiran and zelgius would have been together for around 18-19 years

Black knight shenanigans. Sephiran travels tellius and gathers intel

Sepiran gets captured in crimea by daein military, probably waited for zelgius to go save him hence why he wouldnt fucking move when ike rescued him lmao

Black knight scraps ranulf, sephiran steps in and tells black knight to stand down

Of course, Ike here doesn't know the fuck he is talking about, as he later expresses by wondering why Sephiran is suddenly called Lehran (maybe if the game left Miccy/Yune talk to him before the start of the map, instead of letting him do all the convo it would have been different?).

So, in a way, it isn't as callous as Ike telling Lehran to put the genocide of his people "behind him" or to "deal with it", because he doesn't know what Sephiran is talking about.

But in a way, I have the feeling if Claude or Petra told Dedue to "put the massacre of his family" behind him or to "deal with it", Claude or Petra would have received a certain amount of shit, even if, when they would have said those, they wouldn't have known what the fuck Dedue went through.

Anyways, Ike later learns what, or who, Sephiran is, and talks to him. Maybe he will apologise for his callous words, spoken when he didn't realise what he was talking about ?

Ike: Sephiran... I mean, Lehran... Lehran: I can't apologize enough. I was so terribly mistaken, and now there's nothing I can do to help. Ike: Don't worry. Lehran: What? Ike: Wanting to do something that matters is enough. Sometimes, how you feel is more important than how you act. Lehran: Ike I... there's no one that I think more highly of... Ike: No time for compliments. We still have work to do here. Lehran: Yes... yes we do.

Lehran apologises for having wanted to destroy the world (and drops Altina in a trashcan because Ike is now the person he thinks the most highly of!) - and in the general scale of things, yes, Sephiran has much to apologise for, so he better start pulling his weight and try to make up for having tried to kill everyone.

But the "your people were genocided? No biggie, deal with it!" is completely ignored - or it is, again, another example of Ike talking shit and the game convoluting himself to make sure he never faces any consequences, even if, in this situation, the consequence would just have been an apology, like the one he gave to, iirc, Mordecai and Lethe after calling him subhumans but not realising calling someone "subhuman" was insulting.

Sure, the line he gives after the fight against Sephiran still holds value :

Ike: If death is what you really want, then I’m not going to let it happen on my watch. I don’t care what you’ve gone through. I don’t care how much you’ve suffered. What you’ve done is unforgivable.

It's not because you suffered, or went through the worst humankind can offer, that you can inflict the same on people!

When Lords like Marth, Seliph, Leif, Roy, Eirika, even Elincia try to understand people and what led them to act as they did - without ever giving excuses or wondering if they could walk with their respective antagonists - Ike here refuses to understand, and only condemns.

Is it because Ike isn't a Lord, so he isn't concerned with some general "making sure this situation never happens again"?

But then, he is the one to say those :

“But, even the dumbest creatures will love their family, their friends and… even love others. They will all have things that they can’t afford to lose.” “We know that we’ve messed up. We’ll do our best to avoid more war and to make peace our highest priority. Ashera, just give us one more chance. All we ask is for one more chance.” “You were like a mother to all of life– Your children still require a mother like you. When you watch over us, we don’t always do things that make you happy and sometimes we even disappoint you. Still, I think we would like you to continue watching over us. How about it?” “We all need to work hard to accept each other. As long as we don’t try and run away from our mistakes, then I’m sure we’ll be able to see each other again one day.”

How can you do you "best" to avoid more wars, if you don't even understand why the current one started, or don't care about the reasons that led the fucker who started this current war to, well, start it?

How can we talk about acceptance if we don't "care" about what the others live through?

So, on top of writing a check his ass can't cash - since he will leave Tellius and not be there to "avoid wars" or make sure people "accept each other" after promising the goddesses "we" will exactly do that - Ike's words here are empty.

-> In a nutshell, Ike reveals with those battle quotes and conversations that he is not ruler/leader material - but we knew that since RD's start since we followed Miccy and Elincia - and more importantly isn't the kind of person asking "why" things happen, they just happen but somehow everything will work out when it will happen again - because the why, or the cause, wasn't identified - and I think it's a perfectly fitting answer for the Tellius Saga and the larger Branded "issue" : we will never know why it happens, it just happens.

(can we say the epilogue, with Ashunera returning, is an ultimate "fuck you" to Ike's empty promises at the end of this chapter, since it starts with another war happening in the background?)

Back to that nonsense of a battle convo, I find it really interesting how Ike is basically thanking Sephiran for having wiped his memory when he was a child, to help him "deal" with the fact he witnessed his father stab his mother, because at that time (when he was a kid), he wouldn't have been able to deal with it.

But then, Ike tells Sephiran to "deal with" the tragedies he witnessed and lived through...

After thanking him for sparing him the "deal with it" step- he now asks Sephiran to take - when he was a child.

WTF?

Ike explains how he is thankful, but he ultimately had to "got up" and "move on" from the pain, and accept it. And that's precisely the point, Ike managed to take on that pain, "get up and move on" thanks to Sephiran's own meddling and help - else, by his own admission, he wouldn't have been able to "take it".

But now, he asks Sephiran to take his pain, without any magic amnesia to help, and deal with it?

And while I hate the idea of trauma olympics, grown-up Ike (even in POR) can now deal with the fact his dad killed his mother thanks to Lehran's magic amnesia - but he tells Lehran to deal with and get over - 1) the genocide of his tribe, 2) assassination of his great (etc) granddaughter because she had his blood, 3) the loss of his powers for a crap reason and the knowledge that laguz are bound to "die" if they mingle too much with beorcs as he personally witnessed it, 4) severe depression after realising he is not a laguz anymore but not even a beorc since beorcs will use pitchforks at him even if they regarded him 10 seconds before as sage, and the rest of Tellius' general fuckery? - without magic amnesia or plot hax?

Reyson was very close to pull something similar in FE9 when he tried to erase people in the Forest using "ancient magic", but abandoned the idea when Leanne was found - if PoR!Ike learnt that, would he have told Reyson to "get over" the heron genocide and Naesala's betrayal?

Of course not, because I'm pretty sure Ike knows, before meeting Reyson and even picking Leanne, what happened in Serenes.

And in RD, when he says those words, he doesn't know (but he later will!) that Sephiran is a heron.

Tl;Dr :

Supreme Leader's "minor dispute" is frowned upon by everyone, even if she might genuinely not know about what Nemesis did that made Rhea so enraged, in a doylist reading, Supreme Leader is a character who ignores a genocide to push her own specist agenda.

Doylist reading of that RD scene is, Ike telling Sephiran to man up and deal/get over the genocide of his people - but unlike Supreme Leader, when he comes to learn the truth of Sephiran's despair, he dgaf.

Thankfully, this scene is only triggered if Sephiran survives, so Ike can later explain his behaviour : he doesn't care what kind of suffering Sephiran endured, since nothing justifies what he was trying to do (kill everyone).

Even if the thing he should care, but doesn't want to, is, for part, a genocide.

A Little LB/BM Character Color Theory

Being a film nerd has been a huge part of my life.  I watch endless movie breakdowns, reviews, things you missed, etc.  One of my favorite fellow cinephiles would do breakdowns and always highlight color theory and the ways they were used in whatever film or show she was breaking down.  After a couple of recent convos here, I felt a bit inspired.

Bree Matthews (Name meaning: high, noble, exalted)

Bree’s root is red and Arthur’s power is blue (more on these colors later) which combine to make purple.  Purple (at least in the U.S.) denotes nobility, royalty, magic, mystery, and the supernatural. Since I am an 80’s baby, I also think of the film and book The Color Purple and how the symbolism of pain and bruising were used (Pain welded blade/wound turned weapon).  When Bree forges Excalibur again, the stone in the pommel is described as a deep purple which I thought was an intentional choice for Bree.  In my reading it is stated that purple is seen as mysterious and supernatural due to its rarity in nature.  Also, a fitting trait for Bree.  In The Color Purple it is stated, “I think it pisses God off if you walk past the color purple in a field and don’t notice it.”  Indeed.

Selwyn Emrys Kane (Name meaning: Manor friend, immortal)

Sel’s aether is described as silver blue.  Some of the other colors associated with him are gold and black.  Silver hints at modern affluence and intuition (his hunches that something wasn’t right in LB).  It can symbolize enlightenment (that damn classics major) and is also enigmatic (so Sel).  The blue symbolizes trust, reliability, and loyalty.  Sel’s gold eyes denote prestige and influence (oh those mesmers!).  Though they go through different phases of gold to amber and burnt sienna, the striking gold glow of Sel’s eyes set him apart and identify him at the same time.  Lastly, the mystery of the color black.  Sel has charcoal and obsidian feathers tattooed on his back.  Black feathers can symbolize not a physical death, but the end of something unwanted (relationships and/or situations).  It is also said that seeing a black feather is a message from an ancestor encouraging forward movement.  We only read about this before he takes Bree to the Davis’ house to snoop.  I know he owlshifts (not getting into owl symbolism here) but I thought that was an interesting detail. Sel’s favorite color also symbolizes elegance and power and exudes authority.  Black seduces and intimidates, but also denotes power and protection (think the selection gala).  

Nicholas Davis (Name meaning: Victory of the people)

There is not a ton of color theory for Nick, however the colors that are associated with him are pretty spot on.  Nick’s room is described as having blues and whites.   Nick is also blue-eyed (described as storm-cloud blue).  The color white denotes purity and innocence as well as providing hope and clarity.  It symbolizes balance, simplicity, and clarity along with a fresh start.  The way Nick shows up for Bree and is a safe place for her, a place of clarity and calmness is sooo him.  As I mentioned earlier the other color that shows up for him is blue, symbolizing trust, loyalty, and responsibility.  Nick is the golden boy, the one that everyone looks to no matter how uncomfortable and reluctant he is to accept this.  As a side note, his name (a variation of my name, Nikoe) which means victory of the people makes me think of how he ambiguously explained to Bree that he could see another way to live.  So curious to see where that goes. 

William Sitterson (Name meaning: Willing protector)

Oh William!  I just want to squeeze him Elmira style (sorry, 80’s baby, 90’s kid).  The green of Sir Gawain symbolizes harmony and health.  A color that calms and revitalizes the body.  If that isn’t our precious William I don’t know what is!  This color is seen everywhere in nature and gives us hope and promise of growth.  William has continuously offered safety through his prioritization of consent and healing.  Green is an exemplifier of optimal health and well-being (think green smoothies!)  Green denotes a balance between head and heart.  Green maintains order and is refreshingly considerate.  William is green personified!

Last but not least…

Erebus Verelian (Name meaning: Personification of darkness who was also married to Nyx in Greek lore, which is the name he called Natasia, but I digress)

The colors associated with Erebus are black (smoke, shadow crown, void cuffs, black aether spear, wings made of ink) and red, deep, dark red, almost black.  Since I have already discussed the symbolism of the color black, I will discuss the red here.  Before I do though, I thought it was a nice touch to have the black of the Great Devourer, devour all the light in his vicinity, “Black smoke in the form of a man, filling the air with the scent of brimstone.  The air nearest his form is leached of light.” Red is the color of passion and energy.  It is strong and powerful and can be used to warn and signal caution and danger.  Bree’s red root only activates when she is threatened, and The Shadow King is threat incarnate.  It is also a symbol of revenge and desire.  We know that the SK wants his court back and seeks revenge on Arthur for defeating him.  We see the same red in Valec’s eyes when he is “battle ready.”  Red is striking, bold, and dominant.  It is the color of scars and bloodshed.  The deep red of Erebus’ eyes are ancient rage and power ready to do battle for what he feels is rightfully his. 

Whew!  That was a lot!  Curious to hear if I missed any colors (I’m sure I did).

I just played the BoC update and It's just adorable 😍 but I couldn't get any more the talk with Accolon and oblivious Morded in which he made Morded understand their crush for Gawain...it's a bug or it's just not possible anymore? (Ofc I picked only the 💕 choice and only for Gawain, btw I remember there were more oblivious romance options for Gawain but now it's just one...?)

Thank you 💕 Hmmm that's odd and sounds like a bug 🤔 I received feedback on this issue before and tinkered with the code so it should be possible to get the convo with Accolon. I'll look over the files again and see what could be wrong!

There should be at least 2 oblivious romance options with Gawain up until that point, but granted which one you get is dependent on whether you play the lute. So I'll go and add some more oblivious romance options along with the other ones.

Curious - did anyone else play the Patreon/Kofi update and tried the oblivious choices with Gawain yet couldn't get the convo with Accolon (if you choose to go to the tournament with him)?

first off i absolutely love your wrestling OCs so much they’re so developed and conceptual it’s so cool!!

so my wrestling OCs are based off a convo i had w some friends and have now spiraled into their own thing in my brain... it’s basically a wrestling retelling of the medieval literature tale of Lancelot and Galehaut (part of Arthurian canon and part of a wider Arthurian wrestling universe).

the main guys are Lancelot du Lac, who wrestled as a masked wrestler for a while under various identities in King’s Seat Wrestling for King Arthur and Guinevere, who he is utterly devoted to. then he meets Galehaut, a wrestler and manager of a famous and quickly growing indie promotion, who is from a famous heel family but known for his mercifulness and the fact he’s a noble and kind man. they meet in the ring and have instant, kenny and kota style ring chemistry and when galehaut voluntarily loses a hair/unmasking match to protect lancelot’s identity, they fall in love :) lancelot is torn between his loyalty to guinevere as a knight of her court and his love for galehaut, and when Morgana’s evil forces stress lancelot’s loyalties, shit gets bad... galehaut ends up retiring in disgrace after losing a horrible hair match and getting awfully injured when he believes lancelot has died.

there’s also other wrestlers like up and coming faction the Orkneys, lead by will regal type figure Queen Morgause and ambitious, powerful face Gawain, lancelot’s incompetent brother/cousin/managers (foster brothers, actual cousins) Bors and Lionel and Isolde of the Red Hands, who will only marry a man who is strong enough to take her title belt from her, unfortunately no one can know how she feels about hapless commentator Tristan...

i’m really interested in how wrestling and arthurian literature talk about masculinity and love, particularly these ideas of ultimate masculinity but also ultimate expression of love and emotions through combat, and these ideas of legacy and shame... that was a HUGE fucking infodump i just love these guys a lot :)

anyway a lot has happened (again) ik my life is just full of shit like that. you know once, horoscope said march would be full of changes... didn't realize it would be this change it's so fucked up talaga i'm starting to lose my fixation with astrology emsz anyway ayun just one random day, may tumawag sakin and since this year i'm all about putting myself out there and not dropping calls from unregistered numbers, sinagot ko yung tawag and guess what: prof ko sya. pota diba 😭 di daw nya macontact iba kong kaklase and surprise surprise !! ako ang napag diskitahan :( anyway since hindi ako nagbabasa i had to tell our class pres turns out same lang pala yung sinabi ko sa inannounce nya hahdhshaha tangina dba pahiya konti bukas bawi xD epic fail talaga pero since nasabi ko na dito kung gaano ako nahihiya i guess i can start getting over it starting today.

Favorite Knight of the Round Table?

So I haven’t been ignoring this, @jurakan, I’ve just been thinking. And I think my favorite so far (which I think any Arthurian canon buffs will be furious about) is Priamus. Let me explain:

First, I’m not as steeped in a massive amount of Arthurian literature (yet), but I have spent some quality time with a few texts, mainly the Alliterative Morte Arthure (since it’s what my thesis is on), and while Priamus isn’t usually included in the list of knights of the round table (the simple English version of the Wikipedia page doesn’t list him, and you generally have to search for him), but he is more-or-less incorporated into Arthur’s army throughout the telling of the AMA. So maybe I should revise this to “favorite Arthurian knight,” but I won’t because the AMA’s Round Table clearly encompasses far more than just the normal “canonical” list of RT knights (many of whom go unnamed, but are referenced based on where they hold land). 

Second, Priamus is my favorite because he’s hilarious, but, like, Wonder Woman in the ‘70s TV show hilarious. He’s funny but doesn’t know it, and it’s largely because Gawain pulls one over on him and it makes him look so innocent and gullible. When Gawain and Priamus meet in the AMA, they fight and Priamus wounds Gawain, to which Priamus responds by freaking out and then the situation goes something like this:

PRIAMUS: Dude, we’ve got to bandage that immediately or you’ll never stop bleeding!

GAWAIN: I’m pretty sure you’re just trying to scare me, but okay, sure, how do we stop the bleeding?

PRIAMUS: I’ll only tell you if you forgive me.

GAWAIN: Wat

PRIAMUS: I’ll tell you if you forgive me for hurting you.

GAWAIN, bleeding out: Yes! Okay! Just tell me what you’re here for all alone and what religion you believe and what allegiance you have to what lord and what lord you serve.

PRIAMUS: Hi, I’m Priamus and I’m a prince from Rome which is a pretty cool story, actually, because I’m a direct descendant of Alexander the Great through Judas M. And Joshua. I’m the heir of Alexandria and Africa (the whole thing, apparently), and I’ve been pretty prideful and haughty so I was sent with 140 knights to fight for my father. I’m ashamed and disgraced. GAWAIN, STILL BLEEDING: Oh, haha, just kidding, I’m actually Gawain, maybe you’ve heard of me? I’m a knight and Arthur’s court. Also his cousin. 

PRIAMUS: Gawain? That’s swell! I’m so excited to meet you, man! But hey, you should be careful around here. You’re on the Duke of Lorraine’s land and if you’re caught they won’t ransom you.

GAWAIN, weak from blood loss, probably: Come with me.

They return to where Gawain’s regiment is, and everybody’s super worried about Gawain, who tells them it’s not as bad as it looks, that Priamus is worse off, and that Priamus has salves for the both of them. When they pull Priamus and Gawain off their horses, everybody’s super sad about Priamus’ wounds. They apply the magic salves, yadda yadda, and everybody goes off to fight. 

Later during battle against these same knights Priamus will invert his surcoat and join Arthur’s ranks whether Arthur likes it or not, and given how few fucks Arthur gives in the whole poem, I like to think that he respects that about Priamus. 

So that’s why Priamus is my favorite. Pure, innocent, dumb Priamus. My Arthurian son.
