I'm having a very swell time. LOVE to All who have read any amount of the words posted here. Consider pulling a joyful little compact disk off your shelf and giving it a spin.

The local Used Books + Stuff shop had a buy two get two special on CDs and tapes and DVDs. I got 4 cool disks. Over the past couple of weeks I've gotten a whole bunch of other ones from a whole bunch of different places.

I drove about 40 minutes north to a record store in an absolute nowhere town. I passed a car engulfed in flames on the highway. Traffic was slow. It got hot as I got closer to the car. I thought for sure it was going to blow up and I was about to die. I LIVED and got 3 cool CDs.

I played a smallish, semi-secret festival held once a year by a band that has a cultish following, known and loved by people who know and love strange bands. HELL: Kurt Cobain, known for being famous and loving strange bands, loved this band. People say he died wearing one of their T-shirts. I'm not making that up. I hope I'm not making that up.

For the sake of having Band Goods at the festival, I made a bunch of homemade CDs. They have all found homes.

THE SET ITSELF went great. I had fun. I met a whole bunch of very beautiful people and a whole bunch of very great bands played after us. The last band played a moonlit poolside set and my soul traveled someplace more elsewhere and different than Here.

After the festival I had to go two days without any solid food so that doctors could put a camera inside me. The festival sang "Happy Colonoscopy" to the tune of Happy Birthday. I wish I had a video of it. That moment will likely bubble to the surface of my memory every time I am in a hospital for the rest of my life.

RIGHT NOW I am ripping a whole bunch of CDs to my hard drive. I've been painstakingly adding tags and album art to the albums I bought from the bands I played with at the festival. My stomach is doing horrible things. There might be Love everywhere. Finding joyful objects might be easier than it's ever been. Of all the times to be alive, I'm sure that this is One of Them.

Hi just here to say you’re so real about Billdip, was gonna actually reply in the notes but I don’t wanna be harassed Yknow?

Anyway I love how everyone ignores the fact that like 90% of Billdip shippers don’t make Dipper an actual child and anyone that does will make it very clear (ex: AO3 tags usually something along the lines of ‘author regrets everything’, ‘why did I write this?’, ‘I’m going to hell’, etc.)

Also no one seems to want to confront the fact that rules kinda have to change when immortality is involved. Any ship involving an immortal character and a mortal I feel automatically makes a romantic relationship, disingenuous??

Anyway-

Billdips and Billfords need to reconcile the fact that they are functionally the same damn ship. You can have a preference (I love them both) but acting like one is a high brow exploration of abuse and the other is comparable to real CSEM has even less self awareness than this kind of argument usually does.

My dash has plenty of mindlessly fluffy and smutty billford art that does nothing to protray their relationship as bad. There's also plenty of billdip content that leans into how horrific their relationship is and doesn't paint it as desirable. Because, you know, fan content covers a wide spectrum even on the same subject.

You don't have to like all of it, or even most of it, but playing up the dramatics that billdip is the most disgusting concept you've ever witnessed? Buddy, your ship is five feet to the left. You cannot have so little self awareness that you think fiction affects reality but then actively consume amd enjoy a physically and psychologically abusive relationship. I am telling you to look at your beliefs and challenge them. If what you see is different than what you've believed, you need to be open to exploring why.

Well, I haven't actually pretended otherwise, but it's cool that we have a more antagonistic rival that's actually relevant to the story, and that we had a bit of a hand in his downward spiral/him becoming that way.

like look i know im a dsmpolo but it is genuinely really interesting to me to see people talk abt the dsmp like, "oh it wasnt meant to be that srs and mc roleplay just isnt that deep and" like no, it was? dsmp was lighthearted in a lot of ways, yeah, but it definitely had its more hard-hitting moments? it wasn't just written to be haha funny meaningless jokes all the way through? dsmp is a sum of all its parts, the fooling around and the scripted story and the improv roleplay and the carefully-constructed-months-in-advance plot beats. like dsmp was absolutely a very special server with a very special story that was, yes, minecraft roleplay and full of stupid silly moments and dick jokes but ALSO was absolutely meant to hit on some heavy topics and dark themes! like theres no need to give the fandom this much credit, lol, they didn't just hallucinate a story from a bunch of minecraft lets play content--they managed to hallucinate a self-contradictory, much worse story from the existing story that was literally right in their face for the sake of their personal biases and projection and then got mad at the dream smp for staying true to the story it was actually trying to tell instead of acting like a lesser conduit of the fans' wishes and sacrificing a cohesive plot for popularity points and views. like, don't get me wrong, the dsmp is far from perfect, there are parts of the story that i enjoy far more than others, and it definitely has its own flaws and weaknesses. but god damn if it's not still a story that affected a HECK of a lot of people (even if people might be desperate to act like they dgaf nowadays) while being, yes, a minecraft roleplay server

Holy peck this is an amazing video.
